What kind of USB cable is required for the SX600?

I recently purchased the PowerShot SX600 HS point and shoot and it did not come with a USB cable. I tried various cables I have, but none of them fit the output on the camera. Is there a specification I can ask for when I go to the electronics store to purchase one?

Two small things:  "Mini-B" also goes by the name Mini USB, to differentiate it from "Micro USB".  It'll help if you're looking online where there are a gazillion cables.
And two:  I would highly recommend getting a cable with a ferrite bead.  It's a high frequency filter.  I've used cables without them that functioned alright, but I've also had issues.  If you're going to buy one, you might as well get one with the filter.  Like this one (the filter is the little cylinder on one end):

Can I use iphone 4s USB cable to recharge for the new ipad

The iPod, iPad & iPhone cables are identical, however, the chargers are not.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • What kind of Firewire do I need for the new Mac?

    Hey Apple Community,
I have a new late 2013 Macbook Pro. I noticed that it has a new firewire port! However, I need to digitize video footage from Mini DV tapes. The camera I'll be using to digitize my footage is a Canon Vixia HV30. Does anyone know what kind of firewire cable I'd need? Will I need an adapter of some sort?
    Thanks for the help!

What kind of cable would I need exactly? I'd like to look it up and buy what I need today so that I could start my work soon. Here's some reference pictures:
And do you recommend any particular cable? I'd like to purchase a reliable product.
    Thanks again for the help!

  • What kind of mac would I need for Nexflix, basic search and email? Also, sounds silly, but can I connect an HDMI from Mac to tv?

What kind of mac would I need for Nexflix, basic search and email? Also, sounds silly, but can I connect an HDMI from Mac to tv?

Just an FYI.  The Macs named PowerMac date from early 2006 and before.  Use this tip to discover where to post once you get your Mac:
Site map of Communities and Categories
The cheapest Mac available new is a Mac Mini.   It is no bigger than many an external hard drive.  But the screen and keyboard and mouse must be purchased separately.  They support USB and Bluetooth keyboards and mice, and pretty much any DVI, HDMI, or displayport display.   Although the iMac is certainly an attractive option if all you want to deal with is deciding on a printer.   I still recommend getting an Apple USB keyboard for the occasional times you may need to troubleshoot startup issues.  Normally not a problem, but as it gets older some issues can be fixed at startup or diagnosed at startup.

  • What kind of antivirus do you suggest for mac OS X Maverics?

What kind of antivirus do you suggest for OS X Maverics?

OS X already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Keep it that way with software updates from Apple.
A much better question is "how should I protect my Mac":
Never install any product that claims to "speed up", "clean up", "optimize", or "accelerate" your Mac. Without exception, they will do the opposite.
Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources. Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.
Such "phishing" attempts are the 21st century equivalent of a social exploit that has existed since the dawn of civilization. Don’t fall for it.
Apple will never ask you to reveal personal information in an email. If you receive an unexpected email from Apple saying your account will be closed unless you take immediate action, just ignore it. If your iTunes or App Store account becomes disabled for valid reasons, you will know when you try to buy something or log in to this support site, and are unable to.
Don’t install browser extensions unless you understand their purpose. Go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. If you see any extensions that you do not recognize or understand, simply click the Uninstall button and they will be gone.
Don’t install Java unless you are certain that you need it:
Java, a non-Apple product, is a potential vector for malware. If you are required to use Java, be mindful of that possibility.
Disable Java in Safari > Preferences > Security.
Despite its name JavaScript is unrelated to Java. No malware can infect your Mac through JavaScript. It’s OK to leave it enabled.
Block browser popups: Safari menu > Preferences > Security > and check "Block popup windows":
Popup windows are useful and required for some websites, but popups have devolved to become a common means to deliver targeted advertising that you probably do not want.
Popups themselves cannot infect your Mac, but many contain resource-hungry code that will slow down Internet browsing.
If you ever see a popup indicating it detected registry errors, that your Mac is infected with some ick, or that you won some prize, it is 100% fraudulent. Ignore it.
Ignore hyperventilating popular media outlets that thrive by promoting fear and discord with entertainment products arrogantly presented as "news". Learn what real threats actually exist and how to arm yourself against them:
The most serious threat to your data security is phishing. To date, most of these attempts have been pathetic and are easily recognized, but that is likely to change in the future as criminals become more clever.
OS X viruses do not exist, but intentionally malicious or poorly written code, created by either nefarious or inept individuals, is nothing new.
Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgment, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.
Summary: Use common sense and caution when you use your Mac, just like you would in any social context. There is no product, utility, or magic talisman that can protect you from all the evils of mankind.

  • What kind of wireless card I need for my Power Mac G5 (late 2005) Dual 2 GH

    hi there,
I have for sometime now a "Power Mac G5 (late 2005) Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5", and recently I have been thinking to get an Airport extreme wireless card with a bluetooth on it, which could work on my machine.
I have already try to deal with apple representatives and Apple sales people to give me a hand on the matter and so far is been a nightmare to approach this guys, tired of wasting time and effort, so that is way I am posting a topic on this section to see if you guys could give a hand on the matter.
All what I would like to know is what kind of wireless card I need for my Power Mac G5 (late 2005) Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5 (version 10.4.11) and where I could buy one on line to install myself.
This is the mac unit I have.
    Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5.
    Hardware Overview:
    Machine Name: Power Mac G5
    Machine Model: PowerMac11,2
    CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (1.1)
    Number Of CPUs: 2
    CPU Speed: 2 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB
    Memory: 4.5 GB
    Bus Speed: 1 GHz
    Boot ROM Version: 5.2.7f1
    Thanks for you time.
    regards
    Toyko koyko

You're welcome. Funny how Apple works isn't it? If it's any consolation, that Airport/Bluetooth card doesn't show up on the Apple U.S. store either. I don't think they ever intended it to be a user installable part, so perhaps that's why they don't offer it for sale. Do you have any Apple Authorized Service providers in your area? I'd think they'd be able to order the card as a replacement part.
Can you give a little more detail or a link to the gadget you're referring to? It sounds like a USB dongle to enable Wi-Fi, but that must be a third party solution, since I don't believe Apple ever offered something like that.

What is different USB cable and direct cable?
Some cable detect by USB port directly like DKU-5.
But not CA-42 cable why it just simple cable. Also in market available fake is it working Nokia mobile phone

    Hello,
These are two different technologies. One is USB oriented and another one for COM-port. I use CA-53 (USB-cable), which suits to the latest phones.

  • USB Recording - requirements for the external USB drive

What are the requirements for the external USB drive to be recognised by the TV?
I've tried two now, which can both be seen by the TV to show media, but neither are recognised by the TV to be used as USB Recording space.

    Hi,
    I have a similar question.
I have a 40L6353 and I cannot seem to playback anything recorded onto USB.
I have tried a large 500 Gb Toshiba (USB powered) drive and 2 or 3 others such as an 8 Gb SanDisk and a smaller capacity non branded 500 Mb stick.
All of the above I have formatted in the TV. When I press record the pop-up staes that recording has started and when I press stop it asks me to confirm. When I go to the recorded list it shows the files but says that they are an unsupported file format!!
I can play videos and music transferred to another Toshiba 500 Gb drive by PC.
I have also tested the sticks and they pass the 2 on-screen tests and I believe when a stick is inserted I can pause live TV.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
I have been trying to get this to work for over a week - if there is a fault I will need to go back to the vendor but I want to be sure it isn't operator error.
    Thanks in advance.

  • What are the ports required for the Audio, Video and A/V conferencing when the following end points are enabled for QoS in Lync 2013 server?

    Hi All,
What are the ports required for the Audio, Video and A/V conferencing when the following clients are enabled for QoS in Lync 2013 server?
    Client Type
Port range  and Protocol required for Audio
Port range and Protocol required for
    Video
Port range and Protocol required for
    A/Vconferencing
    Windows Desktop   Client
    Windows mobile App
    Iphone
    Ipad
    Andriod phone
    Andriod Tablet
    MAC desktop client
    Please advise. Many Thanks.

Out of the box, 1024-65535 for all of the client ports.  :)
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398833.aspx
You'll want to tune your client ports a bit
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj204760.aspx as seen here, and then the client ports would use those ranges which is easier to set QoS markings.  I'm not sure the mobile clients respect that setting.
Elan's got the best writeup for Windows clients here:
    http://www.shudnow.net/2013/02/16/enabling-qos-for-lync-server-2013-and-various-clients-part-1/
However, the marking of the packets is the tricky part.  Windows can do it via Group Policy, but for the other clients you'll need to have the network specifically prioritize ports regardless of DSCP markings.  You have to do it based on ports
as the traffic could be peer to peer.

But the newest Mac notebooks do not have a firewire port.
So he may need a TB to FW adapter, $29, a FW 400 or 800 cable, $??, and then a FW 400 to 800 cable/port adapter (If the old Mac only has a FW 400 port), $??.
It is unknown if the old Mac has a FW 400 or 800 port.
