What kind of wireless router would be best for my Westell B90?

I used to have linksys WRT54G router set up with my westell B90-21004 modem. It used to work fairly well until I've noticed that I've been getting intermittent internet connection. I've called verizon twice. First time, they asked me to switch the ends of the line connected to my modem. The problem continued. The second time, it was because the line between the modem and the phone jack was over 14 ft. I'm still getting intermittent problem. So I've been looking around for a solution and I figure it might be the router. As of right now, the modem is connected directly to the PC and it seems to be fine. When I tried to plug it back to the router, I can't even get online. What kind of router should I get? This was my second router. I used to have a netgear that didn't work at all. Is it even the router's fault? Maybe I did a bad setup or something?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Looking back, I should've made the subject title more clear. My modem is a Westell B90 and I have a linksys router. Day two from the changes I made are still ok. I'm still getting what APPEARS to be intermittent internet connection, but it seems that's only if I use firefox. Everything I load in internet explorer seems to load smoothly.
#1 Do you have any add-ons installed for FireFox?
#2 If so, which ones? Please name all of them...

  • What kind of storage drive would be best?

I need an external drive for storage. I have the following external ports available:
    • Firewire 400
    • USB2
    • Serial ATA
Does anybody have some advice or recommendation on which drive would be "best?" I won't be using it as a startup drive It will be strictly for storage. Any pros and cons?
    Thanks a lot.

Well, I have both Firewire 400 and USB drives with my MDD. I can't say one is really better than the other (except that Firewire sounds more cool to say than USB). Some way Firewire is a bit faster; I'll take their word for it although the difference is not apparent to me.
One advantage to the USB drive would come to play to play if you ever want to connect it to a machine other than the MDD, especially a non-Mac computer. USB ports seem to be a little more, uh, universal in the computer universe. Also, USB drives can work as Airport disks if you were going that route. I don't think Firewire has a chance to connect to a network that way.
You can also get external drives that provide both USB and Firewire connection, though not simultaneously and at an added cost.

  • What kind of wireless bridge would work with Toshiba Regza HDTV & Toshiba Blu-ray DVD Player?

What will provide wi-fi to Toshiba DVD player connecting using an ethernet cable, giving an internet connection.

Thank you for this answer. I have another clarifying question for you as I am a wet behind the ears newbie at this. Does this mean that my 2 Wire DSL modem will be acting as the router that you mention? If yes, it would seem that this would also allow me to watch NetFlix movies from my computer on my Toshiba HDTV-correct possibly?

  • What kind of hard drive would be best to use as cache for Final Cut?

    Hi,
I'm having problems with Final Cut Pro because it hangs a lot and runs real slow. I've checked the hard drives and found one of them had problems so I'm going to change it. For a SATA interface, what type of HHDD would you recomend, internal SATA II, External high speed firewire like Apple's G-Drive?
    Thanks in advance

If you have additional drive bays available inside your Mac, that would be my first choice.   Second choice would be an external eSATA setup and last would be an external Firewire drive.
    >External high speed firewire like Apple's G-Drive?
    Apple makes a G-Drive?  I thought those were only from G-Tech: http://www.g-technology.com/products/g-drive.cfm

  • What router would work best for my app?

    Hi,
I have been looking at two Cisco routers for my home/work network. They are the 1811 and the 871 series.
My network consists of 1 2K3 SBS (It dose my DHCP, Domain Controller, Wins, and active directory.), 2 Cad stations, 1 Email/web PC, 1 Notebook, and I will have 3 people VPN'ing in at any point in time for files.
Also, my broadband connection is cable (8m/768k) as of right now and will soon see FiOS in my area and I am looking at possibly getting the 15m/2m tier or the 30m/5m tier if the price is right. So will aether of these routers handle this wan connection speed?

The 871 peaks at about 12mbps vs. 35mbps for the 1811.
Check out this document to compare all models.
Hope this helps. Please rate this post.
    Thanks,

  • I am a fitness director and looking for an app that will allow me to sale and track group fitness classes. What app do you think would be best for this?

I want to sale classes individually and in packages. I'll need to track when purchases are made and then when credits have been redeemed (if they purchased a package of classes). I suspect I'd need an app in the bussiness category, but there are so many and some with a few qualities I'm looking for, but missing a key component. I can't be the only one looking for a solution like this. Right?!

Your posting this in the spreadsheet forum for Apples iWork program called "Numbers" on mobile devices (iOS).
Please let us know if you are attempting to make a spreadsheet to track this (This forum)
        or
Looking for a premade app to do this (a different forum/website/search)
If the first choice, please give us more information on what aspect of the spreadsheet is giving you an issue and we can attempt to help out some.

  • What Router Would Be Best If Using Two PlayStation 3 Consoles?

What Router Would Be Best If Using Two PlayStation 3 Consoles That  Are Connected To The Same Broadband Internet Connection? My Two Cousins Aren't Able To Connect To The Same Lobby Party Together As I Am To Play COD MW3. They Have Tried Having Both Consoles Hardwired to the Router But The Same Problem Of Having Only One Of My Two Cousins To Be Able To Connect To The Lobby Party While The Other One Can't Connect.  Thanks For Any Help With This Issue.

My router easily handles 2-4 PS3s at a time during Uncharted multiplayer and its a few years old.  Its a Linksys Wireless N (model no. WRT150N).  Like I said, its not the newest but it handles all our consoles just fine.  My internet speed is 24mbps, maybe your cousins need a faster connection? Hope this helps.

  • What kind of wireless card I need for my Power Mac G5 (late 2005) Dual 2 GH

    hi there,
I have for sometime now a "Power Mac G5 (late 2005) Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5", and recently I have been thinking to get an Airport extreme wireless card with a bluetooth on it, which could work on my machine.
I have already try to deal with apple representatives and Apple sales people to give me a hand on the matter and so far is been a nightmare to approach this guys, tired of wasting time and effort, so that is way I am posting a topic on this section to see if you guys could give a hand on the matter.
All what I would like to know is what kind of wireless card I need for my Power Mac G5 (late 2005) Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5 (version 10.4.11) and where I could buy one on line to install myself.
This is the mac unit I have.
    Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5.
    Hardware Overview:
    Machine Name: Power Mac G5
    Machine Model: PowerMac11,2
    CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (1.1)
    Number Of CPUs: 2
    CPU Speed: 2 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB
    Memory: 4.5 GB
    Bus Speed: 1 GHz
    Boot ROM Version: 5.2.7f1
    Thanks for you time.
    regards
    Toyko koyko

You're welcome. Funny how Apple works isn't it? If it's any consolation, that Airport/Bluetooth card doesn't show up on the Apple U.S. store either. I don't think they ever intended it to be a user installable part, so perhaps that's why they don't offer it for sale. Do you have any Apple Authorized Service providers in your area? I'd think they'd be able to order the card as a replacement part.
Can you give a little more detail or a link to the gadget you're referring to? It sounds like a USB dongle to enable Wi-Fi, but that must be a third party solution, since I don't believe Apple ever offered something like that.

  • What type of wireless router w/new MBP C2D??

I have a new 17" C2D MBP on order and I would like to sort out my wireless home network before it arrives...
As I am new to the wireless world, I do not understand what wireless router would work for this new MBP. I have read about it having 802.11g technology, but I have also seen something about N technology... my local computer shop says that they don't have N technology yet, but will soon.
What is this all about? Is 802.11g G technology? What do I get to have wireless internet access with my new MBP at home?

If you have the MBP C2D and you would like to get a wireless router. I suggest that you get a 802.11n router, as it works for both 802.11b, 802.11g as well as 802.11n. It is common knowledge by now that the wireless card that is used in the MBP with the C2D is an Atheros AR5008 802.11n. Though it is recognized as an 802.11g in the current OSX 10.4, this wireless card has the possibility of being used at its native state of 802.11n. What does this mean to you? Well, the 802.11n is ~ 650% faster than 802.11g and has about 5X the range of it as well. Though 10.4 does not recognize the card as such, windows vista will (that is if you plan on installing it onto the system) and OSX 10.5 might (I don't if Apple, will support draft N [802.11n] of the new wireless standard, even though they put a wireless card in the system that is a Draft N card). So get a wireless router that uses 802.11n. It'll save you money in the future.
Ok, now I'm done explaining why you should get the 802.11n router. Now, as for those who might say otherwise. If you think the 802.11n draft standard is going to change much from now, until the standard is finalized, then you may or may not be right. But from what my professor explained to me about how the technology works, it probably won't change that much. If I were to explain it to anyone on this board about how the standard works, it would be a hopeless matter unless you have taken classes in state variables or control systems. But I guess there are more than enough resources online to find out about how the Draft N standard works. And that is my 2 cents.

  • What type of wireless router is the 1st generation time capsule? Is it B, G or N. I'm trying to understand why our wifi signal is a bit erratic. Paul

what type of wireless router is the 1st generation time capsule? Is it B, G or N? I'm trying to establish whether its causing signal degradation as a result of conflicts with my BT Home Hub router.

The 1st generation Time Capsule is an 802.11"n" wireless router, but in default settings it produces a signal that is also compatible with "g" and "b" wireless devices.
If your HomeHub is in close proximity to the Time Capsule and it is also producing a wireless network, either the wireless on the HomeHub or the TIme Capsule should be be disabled to minimize the chances of wireless interference.
Interference may also be coming from any cordless phones you may have, or another nearby wireless network as well.

  • I have a new (mid) 2011 imac and want to transfer my old records to itunes but i dont know what usb turntable would be best for a new mac that would have compatible software for ripping to itunes?

i have a mid 2011 i5 imac and i want to transfer my vinyl records to itunes but i dont know what usb turntable would be best for my imac that has compatible software for transfer to itunes

    Hallo,
I use an Akai usb turntable with the Audacity sw delivered with it. To monitor during recording I also use the LineIn utility (all this on a Macbook Pro with Mavericks).
It works fine, only the input volume of the usb audio port cannot be adjusted (at least I did not yet discover how to do it) and the volume of the music is lower than other music imported into iTunes from CD or iTunes store, but still acceptable.
    Success, Jean

  • What kind of view object would I need to create to achieve this ADF form?

I have an entity that has several dates. The dates are stored in a table separate from the entity, each entity date has a date type (open, close, interview, etc) associated with it. The DBAs idea (who else of course!) was to have the flexibility to add new types of dates for entities when needed.
So you have tables like this -
    Table: EntityTable
    Columns: EntityId, EntityName
    Table: DatesTable
    Columns: EntityId, Date, DateTypeCd
I need to display an editable ADF form where I can update the entity and the entity dates
The ADF form would contain something like this
    Entity Name: []
    Opening Date: []
    Closing Date: []
    Interview Date: []
What kind of view object would I need to create to achieve this?

That would be a master-detail relation 1-* between 'entity' and 'entity dates'. If your dba has set up the foreign key association in the db and you use the wizard to create the business objects, jdev pick up the relation and create the correct master detail relation in the vo layer for you.
By the way naming a table 'entity' is not a good idea when working with ADFbc. We all talk about entities when we relate to a business object (in this case a row of a table or entity object or EO). So it's hard to distinguish the two, your specific table 'entiyt' and the common term entity or EO which can be a row of any table.

i think to bye imac for graphic design use purpose. kindly guide me. Is iMac best for me ?

    Hello artistsagar,
The word best is always subjective.   It is all a question of your needs, your working practice, your available space; I could go on.
A Mac (probably a 27"one) may well be perfect.  Good size screen, easily understood basic functions and a huge number of recommended programs.   Just Google Mac graphic design to see what is available.
