Hi,
I'm working with oracle forms & reports 10g, OAF (only new pages creation), as well as i have some functional knowledge in manufacturing domain.
Now i have assigned as apps technical in new project.
what should i need to know to become apps technical consultant ?
i think i want to know forms customization, personalization.if yes means give me tutorial or web link to learn those things and tell me clearly what i need to know.

These are not universal technical terms with clear meanings. ALL job titles mean only what the person/organization using them means for them to mean.

Please help me in this regardWhat all you have studied is basics. And in the institutes they only teach you 5% of actual work, Yes only 5%. They can not teach the whole 5 years learning just in few classes.
In real time When you are working as a technical consultant, you get to speak to functional consultants a lot of time for developing reports, customization, creating custom forms.... So thats why the interviewer has asked a mixture of both technical and functional.
The questions they asked also depends on the number of years experience you have in the resume ;).
How ever you can gain more knowledge from blogs and forums like this.

what is database wheather it is s/w or h/w ? what is oracle database wheather it is s/w or h/w ? if we install oracle 10g where it can be stored in harddisk or somewhere else ? oracle occupy large amount of disk space why ?

1. what is database whether it is s/w or h/w ?
Yes of course Its software because you can't touch data(Software program). when you say its hard ware it means it is tangible.
2. if we install oracle 10g where it can be stored in hard disk or somewhere else ?
Yes, Software will always stored in hard disk. So, in our case Oracle 10 g will be stored in hard disk or in server.
Note: server will be placed at your location or in different location.
3. Oracle occupy large amount of disk space why ?
Because everything is segregated and arranged in proper manner.

I am having 4.5 Years of experience as a Oracle PL/SQL Developer ( Not completely into Development but am into maximum Application support and some part of Development. Now I want to learn Oracle Apps Technical. But am not aware of the Modules which are helpful to my career. I worked for many domains like Retail, Pharma, Manufacturing and Telecom.

Need the Oracle Apps 11.5.10.2.0

Hi Guyz
I need the Oracle Apps 11.5.10.2.0, so from where i can download? actually i used to have the used but seems that copy is corrupted, as when i tried to installation the i got error regarding the unzipping of zip of file for the database. , i check the log saying
Unzipping disk 3 ...............zip failed.
The same copy was working fine before...........i dont know what happened it now

i checked on edelivery....there a lot of stuff there for 11.5.10.2....so i should download, i got error at step 1 of 5 , when step 1 was almost 94 or 95% complete...........

- 11i install, patch, monitor
- Oracle Apps Technical
- Oracle Apps Financial.

I'm not a functional consultant but what I would suggest is querying projects responsibilities (Security > Responsibility > Define) "search for %Project%" and see which one should be assigned to your projects users.

- Practice Cloning
- Apply Patches
- Practice AutoConfig to manage system configurations
- Upgrade Database/Application

Oracle apps technical- links to relevant documentation?

Hi All,
I am trying to gain understanding of Oracle Apps technical area. Can you please help me identify:
1) what are the four or five most important documentation that are required to be studied for this area? (if anyone asks me this for oracle 9i developer/dba than I can tell him about concepts guide, application developer guide, performance guide etc).
2) What are the links to each of the 4/5 docs above?
3) Apart from forms 6i and reports, what other skills are required for the oracle apps technical area?

If you want to know about Apps-DBA field, I will suggest you to follow next docs:
a) All the Oracle Applcations Systems Administrator's Guides (Securiry, Maintenance, Configuration).
b) Oracle Applications Maintenance (Procedure and Utilities).
c) Oracle Applications Concepts.
If you want to know about Oracle Applications Development field, then follow documents:
a) Oracle Applications Developer's Guide.
b) Oracle Applications User Interface Standards for Forms-Based Products.

How to setup JNDI Name for Oracle Apps adapter?

Hello,
I am learning Oracle SOA 11g and trying to do some tutorial on Oracle Application Adapter. I know how to configure JNDI for DBadapter and I did that successfully. I followed same steps to create New JNDI for Oracle Apps Adapter.
1. I Created new data source using Path Services->Data Sources -> New Genric Data Source. Connection to database was successful and created new JNDI Name: jdbc/PKDTAPPS.
2. Then Deployment-> OracleApps Adapter-> Configuration-> Outbound Connection Pools -> New and created JNDI Name eis/Apps/PKDTAPPS.
However I did not find newly created JNDI Name in step 2 under Deployment-> OracleApps Adapter-> Configuration-> Outbound Connection Pools -> javax.resource.cci.ConnectionFactory.
Please let me know if am I following correct steps to create new Oracle Apps Adapter JNDI Name or not.
Since above approch did not work I created new JNDI for DBAdapter with same database connection details. And then latter on use that JNDI Name while creating Oracle Application Adapter in JDeveloper composite. And it allowed me to access Oracel Apps open interface. However while deploying the application it gave me following error.

Can you check the targets of oracle apps adapter that is it deployed on both cluster and admin server both.
Deployment-> OracleApps Adapter-> Targets
