What laptop under $600 would work well with Premiere Pro?

I have a tight budget so I cant get anything too good. All I need is a laptop that can run Premiere Pro decently without taking a long time to load or freeze on me.

You have not specified what media you are editing.  If you are only editing SD with a DV camera their may be possibilities, but who does that anymore?.  If you are editing anything more complex than that (see Harms Tweakers pages, especially the "What about Laptops") you are out of luck.  Now here is a used laptop $775 that has the required screen size, a quad core i7 hyperthreaded CPU, a 7200 rpm drive, and a couple of USB3 ports for "essentially" a second disk drive (if you choose the proper USB3 device)..  The only shortcoming is the AMD GPU, and if your editing is very basic You might get by without GPU accelerated MPE effects and features.

  • Does VisTitle work well with Premiere Pro?

I want to edit titles with 3D and other effects. But I am quite disappointed in Premiere Pro's title tool. And a colleage recommended VisTitle to me. Anyone used it? Any good?

I have been using Vistitle a lot on EDIUS and have also produced some videos on its basic use that you can see on YouTube.  I am also a reseller but I do sell all the other titles programs as well so am pretty objective.
I do think Vistitle is brilliant and quick.  It is quite "after effects" like in its interface and can do a gue amount of things.  I could do most of the same things in After Effects which you may have if you are on the Cloud or have a Production Premium, although I find no easy way of doing the particle effects that Vistitle has in After Effects and the 3D text is quicker to render for me.  The main advantage I find is speed and ease of use since it is working directly in Premiere as opposed to using the AE dynamic link.
The have also just prodcued a trial versions which you can use and see how well you get on with it : http://www.vistitle.com/listdownload.asp?id=62
Vistitle uses a dongle for copy protection so if you decide to buy it you will need something physically sent to you - which may or may not be a problem where you are with Christmas coming.  In the UK, where I am, this means you would have to order it before the end of next week, or wait until next year.

  • Which video camera works best with Premiere Pro CS6

I'm a beginner in working with PP and need to purchase a video camera which will work seemlessly with Premiere Pro.  I don't want to go through a lot of conversion steps. I want to tape my kids sports, be able to take the raw video right from the camera to PP and begin editing, copying etc. Does the Canon HFM 500 with ABCHD formats provide what I need or do I need something more sophisticated?  Just getting started with the whole video editing thing and want to make the right choices before buying a camera. Thanks for any input.

  • Which of these 2 Laptops would be best with Premiere Pro?

Need opinions between two laptops I'm eyeing as portable options for editing footage from my Canon HF S100.
Really just want a portable 14" laptop that I can do relatively basic editing AVCHD footage on Premiere Pro relatively smoothly when I'm travelling and some encoding with adobe media encoder.  I don't care about battery life. I just want Premiere to play/edit AVCHD footage without the choppy video stuttering. I'm also hoping for some faster encoding times than my 4 year old current laptop. Both laptops are about the same price. The only major differences is a dual core i7 vs a quad core i7... 4gb of ram vs 6gb... 256mb video card vs. 512mb video card... and solid state hard drive vs. 7200rpm hard drive. Opinions?

a 17" laptop with a "DESKTOP" i7 and 3 internal drives will perform EXACTLY the same as a desktop with an i7 with 3 internal drives
(note i didnt mention raid 0 arrays)
if you dont need firewire for ingest (who does these days)
then you can use the Express slot and buy a Sonnet Array that connects vis the Express slot.
making it every bit as fast as a desktop
the only downside (and more to do with AE is the ram speeds are slightly slower)
FYI this is the ONLY laptop i think is good enough for video. the newer i7 mobiles are rather slow

  • Which CD Authoring software works well with Logic Pro X ?

    Hello,
I've been using Logic Studio (Logic Pro 9) and know that Waveburner will no longer work if I update to Logic Pro X. So which CD Authoring software works well as an alternative to Waveburner ?
    Thanks,
    Matrose

Waveburner is a standalone app. If you have it installed and working now it will continue to work if you buy and install logic x, Waveburner will not be affected. Logic 9.1.8 will also happily sit next to logic x on your system.

  • What screen-recording software (Win8) is compatible with Premiere Pro?

What do I need to do to record my screen in Win8 and edit the video in Premiere Pro? I've spent 16 hours trying so far, only to find screen-recorders which crash while attempting to record my screen, and other recorders which successfully write SWF and FLV files, which Premiere Pro and Media Encoder refuse to import. So, how much do I need to spend, on what product, to cut my losses and get on with this? Thanks.

Like most other things, it takes some getting experienced. When I first did some Lightroom & Photoshop & Photoshop Elements tutorials back about 2005/6, I used the freebie & then Camtasia. At first I just couldn't get it to look like everyone else's sharp tut's. But then finally tweaked into the settings that worked on my system after a couple days of messing around, and it was great.
I'm wondering also if the trial version is willing to output at the frame-size/resolution that the paid version can produce? Camtasia is capable of beautiful results.

  • What kind of BarCODE scanner works well with LabVIEW ?

Currently I am working on a project need the use of Barcode Scanner to scan BarCODE. In our project, the minimum range requirement would be 30 feet. I noticed some posts here indicate there are some problems for barcode scan applications in LV to some specific Barcode scanner models. .
So, I would like to know if someone has successful experience for wireless or usb barcode scanner programming using LV,  and the Barcode scanner model.
I would prefer wireless Barcode scanner.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Michenglaoxu,
I thinkt he best thing to do is look at a similar thread where someone was just looking for tips on where to get started and someone actually recommends a product. I can't guarantee the validity of his suggestion, but I thought you may find that link useful.
    Good luck!

  • What is the ideal monitor for use with Premiere Pro CC?

I am looking for a new monitor in the 27-28" range.  I edit mostly HD content, but also some 4K.  My price range is up to $1,200.

For HD you should consider the Dell UltraSharp U2413 it is a 10-bit monitor with 100% coverage of sRGB and has a built-in hardware 14-bit LUT. With just a little bit of work you can get it to a pretty much perfect broadcast output. It is only 24", but it is 1920x1200 so the output is true pixel to pixel, which I find is more important than size. You can get it for under $500.
For 4K you could go with the UP2414Q or if you prefer 27" over 24", the P2715Q. Although the P2715Q is not a "Premier Color" monitor, it still gives you a 10-bit display and 99% sRGB coverage.

  • Which Mac Pro System works best with Premiere Pro CC?

I am looking to upgrade my 12 core tower to the newer Mac Pro. I am wondering if anyone out there has suggestion as to what makes the most sense financially in terms of which  flavor of Mac Pro to get? For example, Is there a significant speed increase between the 8 core vs 12 core, and the D500 Vs the D700 Video Cards ? And how much RAM ? Normally the temptation is to go out and get the maxed out system, but reading though the forums with the various issues people are having with performance on the newer Mac Pro's and Premiere, would be great to know how it stacks up in the real world.
Appreciate any input in this regard.
    Cheers
    Chris

Yes, thanks I forgot about that. I was just going by what I have, which is an older model so I can apparently just replace it with a newer Quadro.
I'm no apple hardware expert and I'm not sure how the ports are setup. Apple's official support site only lists the AMD cards Chris mentioned for their most recent model, but that's also listed as late 2013 which doesn't seem right either. (or is it?) Note that they also list my mid-2010 model as only supporting ATI Radeon HD 577 and 5870 but I've been running a Quadro FX4800 in it with good results for several years, so I know that part's not right. So I'm not sure I'd take that site entirely literally, but of course you would not want to risk getting the wrong card. You should probably enlist the help of apple support (and/or forums) to get more details and assurance before purchasing, but bottom line is you'll want something with plenty of RAM (~ 4 GB or higher if possible) which will also be compatible with CUDA and or OPenCL playback in prpro.

  • Problems with Premiere Pro 2.0:  sound lost after clip pasting

To integrate small projects to one bigger Project, it used to work well with Premiere Pro 1.5 in the following way: import small projects into the main sequence of the new project and, in parallel, copy the clips from the timeline of the small projects and past them into the timeline of the new project. However, I am encountering the following problems while trying to do the same thing with Premiere Pro 2.0:
    ·        Video and sound of every pasted clip becomes unlinked.
    ·        Although the sound was there (also shows in the wave view) right after the pasting and it can be rendered, but the audio Information gets lost as soon as I exit the new project (saved beforehand). If I re-open this new project, although the timeline shows all the pasted sound clips, but there is information in them - no sound (the wave views show only straight lines).
    ·        As well, some of the video and audio effect settings get lost (e.g. cross fading), but the effects such as brightness and contrast settings always remain.
    ·        At least one thing seems to be sure: the imported files themselves are ok. Newly created clips in the timeline from those imported files (dragged into the timeline) are fine - no information lost.
All tips are great helps. Thanks in advance.

    I got it!
Though not described in the English HELP, but in the German HELP: I have to press the Shift and T Keys. It works in my case with the following steps:
    1.     Mark the corresponding audio and video tracks
    2.     Put CTI over the clip
    3.     Press shift + T
    4.     Double click the clip
    5.     Eventually I have to repeat and press the keys shift +T again.
Thanks a lot once more for all of the hints and the detailed explanations. It is indeed a great help. I really appreciate it very much.
