<Serial Number Edited by Host>I got the hard drive upgrade kit and now have the old drive in the On-The-Go-Pro external enclosure and the new drive in the Macbook Pro. I booted from the old drive and now I'm ready to restore to the new drive using Disk Utility but I'm not sure exactly what to select as the Source and Destination.
Three disks are listed in the left frame. The new Samsung disk, the old drive in the OTGPro external enclosure with a volume called "Macintosh HD" and something called "disk 2" with a volume of Mac OS X Base System under it.
I think I should select "Macintosh HD" as the source and the Samsung Drive as the destination. But I'm not certain.
What's the correct source and destination? -
HT1583 What blank DVD disks are compatible with burning a film from Idvd on an applemac?
I have just finalized a project in imovie and this message came up on the screen - "Your project exceeds the maximum duration. To burn your DVD, change the encoder setting in the project info window".
I have changed the encoder setting from best fit to Professional but I am having burning the film to a dvd. The computer tells me to load a dvd or my driver is busy - which it isn't it only has a blank dvd disk in it. So I was wondering whether my DVD disks are compatible with the applemac computer!
HELP!Hi
So I was wondering whether my DVD disks are compatible with the applemac computer!
And if You tell - what brand and type You are trying to use - I will be so much easier !
But most often the problem is
• Do NOT - insert the DVD disk before iDVD specifically as You to do this. As Desktop will catch it and try to format it as a Data-DVD - Not what You want (a Video-DVD) as Data-DVD can not be played on standard DVD-players.
To get it even better I do
• Use Verbatim - Never Memorex or NoName etc cheap brands (as they don't work OK for Me)
• DVD-R - as they play on even older DVD-players
• Burn Speed - set down to x2 or x4 MAX ! - Best IS NOT BEST at all here !

What Blu-Ray Burners are compatible with Mac?
Any suggestions on what type of external blu-ray players are compatible with the iMacs?
Same Samsung SH-B123L Blu-Ray player has worked for me in Windows 7, Lion, and Mountain Lion. So, if you had this connected and dual-booted using Boot Camp, it would be a one device solution. Use MacGo Blu-Ray software. The player is a powered USB connection. OS X DVD player also thinks it is an internal Apple device and just works without a whimper. Fast device. 16x DVD burn. 48x read. Take it out of the box and plug it in. The operating system just recognizes it.
If you point the MacGo Blu-ray software at movies stored in your local network, it will play them too. -
What cheap hosting sites are compatible with Mac?
Hi, I am trying to set up a website for the first time, and have no idea what hosting sites are reliable or compatible with Mac's could anyone give me any ideas? I am looking at the moment at justhost.com fatcow and hostclear. I have looked at reviews for reliability, but it mentions nothing about compatibility. Thanks
iWeb hasn't received a major update since January 2009. As you're "trying to set up a website for the first time", consider alternatives to iWeb that are regularly updated with new features.
"...unless Apple substantially updates iWeb (not holding my breath), it really is time to move on. There are many compelling, equally user-friendly, alternatives that are far more flexible than iWeb. (...) Apple is doing us all a favor pushing us to providers that specialize in web creation and hosting. There are cheaper, better, and faster options." (Source)
One alternative (of many) is the free, web-based Weebly. Unlike iWeb, you'll be able to update your site from any Mac or PC and hosting is free and easy — simply hit the Publish button.
"Dear Apple, Thank you for dragging your feet in total indifference and neglect of countless iWeb users. (...) Now I have found Weebly (www.weebly.com), and I'm kicking myself for not knowing about it before." (Source)

What external tape drives are compatible with sunblade 100s?
hi,
please, can anybody tell me:
1. where i can find out whether or not a particular tape drive is compatible with my sunblade 100 workstation running solaris 9?
2. do external tape drives usually connect to the workstation's serial port?
3. what kind of specs/features should i be looking out for?
thanks in advance for your replies.
Message was edited by:
sun-certifiedI would imagine you could use any tape drive with your sun blade... most are connected by either scsi or fiber channel... there could be some that are network controlled... not aware of any that are controlled by serial port...
GOOGLE is a wonderful thing... try it, you will like it...
compatibility is more concerned with which OS and program you want to use with the tape drive...
specs depend on what you are backing up... a single user would most likely only need a single drive... if you were a multi-national corp, then maybe you might contact Sun Sales...
maybe you should to some research yourself...

Hi,
I'm thinking of getting a new iMac, however I am concerned some current software will not be compatible with it and I'll lose files etc. For example all my music files for Logic Express 8.
I am currently running:
Mac OS X version 10.6.8,
iTunes 11.4,
iPhoto 7.1.5,
Logic Express 8.0.2,
Microsoft Word/Excel etc. is 12.3.6.
These are the most used applications so I want to limit any losses from these if I were to get a new iMac.
Any support with this, and on how to transfer files to a new iMac would be very much appreciated.
Thank you.Compatibility Table.

What other models screens are compatible with Macbook A1211?
I need to replace the screen on my A1211 Macbook Pro. I'd like to know if any other models are compatible - the A1150 seems to be the same, but with matt finish (which I would prefer anyway) - is this right? any help much appreciated
Early and Late 2006 MacBooks Pro are very similar, so the display of the Early 2006 MacBook Pro might work. However, you should install the display designed for your MacBook model to prevent issues after installing the display

What 2.5" SSDs are compatible with ThinkPads?
I just purchased a Crucial M500 240GB SSD to upgrade my T420 and after installation and reboot I get the dreaded "2100: Detection error on HDD0 (Main HDD)" error. After Googling it seems that this is a common problem with ThinkPads and various SSD's it also appears that there is no known solution other than changingt to another drive.
I would like to think that there are some SSDs that don't cause this error and are safe to purchase knowing that THEY WILL work in the ThinkPad models. Is there such a list of compatible SSD drives? Sure I can return the M500 and try an Intel or Samsung but would these drives also be susceptible to the problem?
Hoping I will be able to use my fantastic T420 with an SSD in the future. In the meantime I will be installing using a spinning Seagate HDD.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions
Paul

I run a Crucial M4 mSATA SSD in my T420. Does your SSD throw that error consistently? IIRC my SSD did that too after a firmware update. Crucial explained that they do some internal housekeeping that can make them slow to initialize for a couple of power cycles. Mine did it once or twice and never again.
Have you checked for firmware updates for the SSD? I can't guaranted that you don't have a compatibility issue but there may be other explanations.

What optical drive models are compatible with MacBook Pro?
I need to buy an external DVD drive for my MacBook Pro. Are only certain models compatible? Suggestions would be great!
I recommend an Apple superdrive as it is certified by Apple.
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD564ZM/A/apple-usb-superdrive
There are many other ones that are a cheaper alternative however. This one from Amazon will work with a Mac. Look at the reviews
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Portable-External-SE-218CB-RSBS/dp/B00DBV28TG/ref= zg_bs_1292113011_1
As for other external DVD drives, I'm sure they're compatible as well but it really depends. -
What new Canon Camcorders are compatible with iMovie 11?
Hi
I'm planning to buy a new MacBook Pro with iMovie 11. I am also planning to but a new camcorder so I can start take family movies again. I spoke to a tech at the Apple store who suggested Canon camcorders as a brand. I'm not looking to spend a lot of money, since the techniology seems to change so quickly. I have a number of expensive obsolete camcorders. On the iMovie '11 Supported Page, Apple lists the Canon FS300 & FS30 as compatible. On Amazon.com, the FS300 series is the 2010 model. The 2011 model is the FS400 & FS40. However is the FS400 & FS40 are not listed on the supported camera page. Is this because is it new? Or is it there another reason these cameras aren't listed?
http://help.apple.com/imovie/cameras/en/index.html?lang=en_US
Also, at Apple mentioned MPEG-4 fortmat is the best. Both the FS300 or FS400 are MPEG-2 format. Not being technically savy, does this present a problem? It is possible Apple Engineering hasn't tested those camcorders yet.
Usually a family of camcorders will be compatible, but Apple will not publish it until they can certify.

I would like to get a 500GB external hard drive and connected it to my airport extreme via a USB cable, but I have heard that the airport extreme doesn't recognize some hard drives. Can anyone recommend hard drives that are known to work well with the extreme and aren't too noisy?
