What mac have i got?

im soo new to mac and am dead un experienced i have an i book g4...but i dont understand when people call them like mac 0sx 10.4 or whatever...and what does that make mine? ...also its called a tiger? huh?? sorry for being a complete mac spastic :]

Up in the top left of screen is a blue apple, click that and choose about this mac and then the more info tab and all info is there about your mac.

Mine is actually a model MC954LL not MCM954/A - that's what it says in settings/general/about anyway. What is the difference between the two?

How do we see which macs have cc installed on them, we can only see licences

We are trying to see what macs have cc installed on them in admin console we only see the licences

Yeah, OK, I can see an arbitary number for CPU used since session startup (what does that refer to by the way? It can't be percent), and I can see that one user has consumed massive amounts of CPU compared to all other sessions, but he is currently not running anything, so how can I see which SQL he ran in the past day that cuased all that CPU consumption? Can I do this without AWR?
By the way, do you need a Diagnostic Pack license for simply viewing the Performance tab of dbconsole? I Can go into dbconsole and see history for 2 days back and see the massive espike that caused CPU consumption, but when dbconsole displays the list of top SQL and top sessions under the graph, is it the top listed SQL that consumed the most cpu or do you need to correlate the colours, i.e. find the SQL listed in top SQL that has the same colour as CPU usage on the graph (green) even if it is not listed as the top "consumer" (which I assume means top AAS consumer: overall consumption of all resources)?

Depends on which version of the iBook G4 you own. If it greater than the 800Mhz model then you could install Mac OS X 10.5 (leopard) Otherwise it would be Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
There are alterative PPC versions of Linux like Ubuntu that could also be installed as an OS

Windows or apple it makes no difference, if you don't have the install discs you can't install.
Did you buy the machine with Adobe (you don't say what adobe program you're talking about) installed? If so the vendor should have given you the discs or else it's technically a pirated copy. If you're talking about acrobat (which is free) then you should be able to find older versions on the adobe site.

What have I got?

Apologies, I am probably older than the average iPod owner, and I’m new to it. Being a life-long Mac user, I’m not very computer-literate; I know what I need to know to do what I need to do. That suits me.
I got my iconic pride-and-joy beautiful, personally engraved iPod as a Christmas present- and I am compltely delighted with it! I have downloaded lots of my music collection, and downloading more is an ongoing, and enjoyable project.
However, in common with lots of other users, there IS a major problem with screen scratches, and I would like to purchase some kind of protective covering or case, to prevent this from getting worse. However, most of the cases state which type of iPods they are suitable for. Reasonable. Except I’m not completely sure what I have got. I hope this doesn’t sound TOO silly. If I go to the Apple Store website, it’s THE one that comes up. I know it does photos, because I’ve downloaded loads. I know it’s 30GB, because it says so on the back. The info’ on the website says it does videos, but I’m not interested in music videos, and can’t figure out how to download home videos from my Mac onto my iPod- so I’m not sure whether it’s a “video” one, or not. And, since it’s brand-new, and the main one being advertised, am I to assume it’s a fifth generation?
How does everyone else know what they’ve got? Are all other iPod owners such techno-experts that they just know, and remember all the time?
I know how to do what I need to do, and that’s generally all I need to know. But if I’m going to get a case for it, I shall need to know. The trouble is, that if it IS a fifth-generation video iPod, there are virtually NO cases available for that. Is that right? Why might that be? Is it so new?

Leopard requirements/10.5.x...
    * Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor
minimum system requirements
    * 512MB of memory (I say 1.5GB for PPC at least, 2-3GB minimum for IntelMacs)
    * DVD drive for installation
    * 9GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
Classic/OS9 Apps no longer supported.
Trouble is Apple no longer sells it, check eBay & such for the Retail version, not the Gray Discs...

Hello everybody, Im trying to update my ITunes on my MAC (laptop) to the newer version so I can then be able to update the latest updates for my Iphone-3G. I don’t require a complete reinstall just need to be able to update my itunes.
What I have tried so far is I had my MAC search for update’s and it said that I should update to (ITunes version 10 . 6 . 3 ) So I asked it to do the update but after 2hrs of waiting for it to download/update it then puts up a message saying the following- (In order to continue installation, please close the following application: ITunes).
When I tried to do this another message comes up that says- (The update ITunes can’t be installed. The following install step failed: run preupgrade script for Apple mobile device support. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.)
I have also tried to run the update while having closed ITunes before I even start the update but the same problem happens after waiting about 2hrs.
Some one that had the same problem said this might be happening in the older operating systems. But that does not make sense because surely Apple want customers who own a MAC and i-phone to still buy from iTunes.
My MAC is about 4-5years old. I have a i-phone.3G,

I need a teacher. I have a mac book 13 white. I have all kinds of files/stuff that I have been downloading. I dont know how to update a app, or how to tell what I have as far as memory/software/ version(of what?) I know that I can not sync my 3gs 32g iphone. I know that most all my applications will not work on this version of ??? . I spend hours just trying to get on line,most the time I give up. I've had this thing for years ,I click chx for updates , most everytime it says "no internet".....I do know for how bad I feel inside, all the hours that I have spent on this thing with no closure that I would rather smash it into tiny pieces then sell it. I do not have money anymore..I am very smart at all sorts of differant things in life .I am not smart at understanding to basic function or opperations of computers , I am missing something, I am close ,but just can not wrap my mind around it.
I am reaching out for help, I have nothing to offer , Your reward would come from the Gods , And knowing that you helped another human being. Trust me if feels good to help teach others how to fish for themselves.

It's always good to go with one thing at a time and stay focused on that. Let's start with the OS you're running. Click on the Apple menu > About This Mac. What does it say under Mac OS X version ?

i am confused in last line you wrote,

i did not understand last sentence - if i have one? you mean to say if i have data or not in my iphone?
i have many pictures, messages, contacts which are very much important.
so will it be all restore and will be backup again in my iphone if i restore?
