What Mac operating systems work with Indesign CS3?

What Mac operating system will work with Indesign CS3? I have 10.5.8 and need to upgrade to 10.7 so that my new laser printer will work with my Mac.
If one buys a new Mac 10.8 or 10.9 will ID CS3 work?

Maybe…maybe not. It certainly won’t be supported and under no circumstance should you use migration assistant to move it to a new machine. With that I can almost assure you it won’t work.

To find the version of Mac OS X on your computer, all you have to do is click the Apple logo and then About this Mac. For more info, take a look at this doc -> Finding your OS X version and build information

  • Mac Sphere speakers- what Mac do they work with

My daughter bought a new Mac Book Pro and she already had a iMAC, 3rd generation it separate flat screen, with the Mac sphere speakers, but the connector is not the right one for her new laptop. Is there an adapter she can get so they will work with her new Mac Book?

You'll need to find one of these or similar.

  • Working with InDesign CS3 and CS4

I'm a graphic design student and recently bought InDesign CS4 for my home computer, but all the media labs on campus only have CS3. Is there a way I can constantly work on one file, switching from one version to the other? I heard there's a way to save CS4 as a CS3 file, but will a CS3 file open in CS4?

CS4 will open a CS3 file. To go the other way, export from CS4 to INX.
CS3 (if fully patched) will open INX from CS4. Don't use CS4-only
features, and expect to run into some problems with text wrap changing.

  • What Mac app will work with Newsstand

I run a small stable of Macs, currently limited to 2 iMacs, 1 iPad3 and an iPhone.  I like Newsstand on the iPad, however I would love to use the Cloud to allow all my current Apple products to use the info in Newsstand and to share items from the Mac to the iPad on Newsstand or something similar.  I can and do use Pages currently to run my stuff but I would rather a more structured system. Any ideas.   Running 10.8/10.6/iOS7 and 6

Ya think?  Of course Newsstand isn't available for the Mac line, that is why I was wondering if anyone out there had a way to share information like it is on the Newsstand app for the Mac Line which will share to the iPad/iPhone iOS things.  I have Pages, which will allow me to put the stuff into it and save, and it will share to all that have it installed.  However I want to just have the items that I currently have put into Newsstand shared between all the OS X and the iOS units and I cannot do that using Pages unless I get rid of all the other stuff that is using it to cross platforms.
I get the feeling I will have to use the electronic reader software to cross the barrier.

  • What version of lightroom works with CS3?

What version of Lightroom works with Photoshop CS3?

They are different programs, so I imagine they all work with CS3.  I don't use Lightroom, but I think Lightroom's ability to interface with Photoshop has evolved over the different versions, but I can't think how the Photoshop version would affect that, so the later the Lightroom version, the better.
BTW Lightroom 6 is rumoured to be coming very soon.

You don't. Since you have an Intel Mac, buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store.

  • Will InDesign4 work with the newest MAC operating system -- OS10.9 I think.

Will InDesign4 work with the newest MAC operating system -- OS10.9 I think.  My OS crashed and they have to wipe the computer to put on a new system. I don't want the latest system if it won't run CS4. I bought Creative Suite Cloud version and had nothing but problems with it and the system I was running. In fact all the problems with my computer started just after I put CS Cloud version on it.

Thanks for answering. I'll try to be more specific in my question.

  • Printing problems with InDesign CS3 with Mac OS 10.6.3

I am not new to InDesign... I have CS3... but I am brand new to Mac Snow Leopard (OS 10.6.3).  Although I can open CS3 and use the application, I cannot print with it.  None of my other applications has printing issues... just CS3.  Any suggestions?
    Richard

    Hi again Peter
It is version 5.0.4.  I updated it when I newly installed it a week ago in my new computer, and then again updated it just yesterday.
I might mention that before I got my new computer, I was running Mac OS 4.11, and was using InDesign 3.0.  I had bought InDesign CS3 about a year ago, but hadn't gotten around to using it since version 3.0 had been working fine, and I was used to it.  Then, when I got my new computer, I decided it was time to use the newer version.  However, while using InDesign 3.0 with the old Mac OS 4.11, a printing problem popped up there, too, a few months ago... and it also involved printing problems with Adobe Reader.  I contacted Adobe, and they sent me a patch which fixed it.  I will contact Adobe again if need be, although I thought I'd start here first to see if it was a common enough problem that someone might be able to provide a free and routine answer.

I neglected to ask what version of indesign CS3 you are using. I also
notice that Mac OSX 10.6.4 has just been released. It actually
addresses some CS3-specific issues, though they seem to be related to
launching the apps, not printing. It may be worth trying to update,
    nonetheless.

    Hi Daddyfred,
CS4 Photoshop has not been tested on Yosemite. But still you can try the Java 6 update using the below link.

    Hi spiritentrep,
What Adobe software are you referring to? Are you using Acrobat? You should have no problems running Acrobat XI on Yosemite, and as along as you have compatible scanner drivers for your Epson, you should be fine there as well.
    Best,
