What Mac OS do I need to run Camera Raw 7.4?

Apparently Mac OS 10.7.5 is not new enough. True? I'm trying to figure out why I can't open .CR2 files from my Canon SL1 (100D).
Thanks to any who can help.
ScottKenyon

Thank you for the replies. I have a 3.4 GHz i7 iMac running OS 10.7.5 and Adobe CS6, both as up to date as possible, but I still can't open .CR2 files from my 100D. I suspect that I would need to upgrade to OS 10.8 or later for ACR 7.4 to function, I just wondered if anyone else was in the same circumstance and had made things work. My problem is the network I'm on here at work is not very compatible with 10.8, otherwise I'd upgrade in a heartbeat! I'm not in a really Mac-friendly computing environment in some ways. I don't have the same problem at home on an older iMac running 10.8.
Thanks again.

The Intuit rep said they don't "support" QuickbooksPremier on a "virtual machine." Do you know what I risk by using it, anyway? thanks for the advice about Boot Camp vs Parallels, BTW!
I use QuickBooks Pro for Mac, so I haven't had need to try any of the Windows versions in a VM. But I can't think why it wouldn't work. From within the VM, QuickBooks Premier would believe it is operating on PC hardware within Windows.
I would guess they mean that the multiple user support wouldn't work from within the VM. But I would think that would also work. Windows can see the Internet from within the VM, which means it can see your network. So if Windows can see the network, then QB Premier should be able to, too.
I know you can get Parallels as a demo, and maybe you could get QB Premier as trial software. So if you already have a retail copy of Windows to load into a VM, it would only cost you time to test what's possible.

What version of Mac OS do I need to run the latest version of InDesign 10.10 using Creative Cloud

No. You do not need to go to 10.10, but it’s probably best to so to avoid this again for some time.
That said, any machine still running 10.6 has got to be pretty old and lacking power to run the new apps.

    Usage Notes
This procedure requires the CREATE JOB privilege to create a schedule in one's own schema or the CREATE ANY JOB privilege to create a schedule in someone else's schema by specifying schema.schedule_name. Once a schedule has been created, it can be used by other users. The schedule is created with access to PUBLIC. Therefore, there is no need to explicitly grant access to the schedule.

Not sure what's not working for you with the AirPort Management Utility, but the following Apple article describes some missing functionality with OS X 10.2.x clients. (ref: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107940)

What's the voltage input needed to run and charge the iPad 4?

As long as the charger is rated for at least 10 watts or 2 amps it well charge the iPad just fine. A higher rated charger such as the 12 watt 2.4 amp charger will also charge the iPad, possibly a little faster, but it will not damage it. Chargers rated at 5 watts or 1 amp may charge an iPad very slowly if not at all.
Just be aware some cheaper dual port USB chargers share the 2 amps. It will charge an iPad in one port but adding another will reduce the current to both ports to 1 amp. An iPhone may charge fine but the power would be reduced to the lower level and slow an iPad charging on the other port. The one you link to will work fine although it looks as though one port is 5 watt/1 amp and the other is 10 watt/2 amp. There are many adapter's available that will supply 10 or 12 watts to both ports to future proof the charger giving you the capability to charge 2 iPads or other more demanding smart phones with larger batteries. I like Scosche reVolt chargers, they cost a little more but they are a quality product. If you want the best option go with a 12 watt charger which can speed up charging on many products a little more than a 10 watt can.

  • What version of LR supports Lumix DMC LX7 RAW files? do I need to install Camera RAW plug-in?

What version of LR supports Lumix DMC LX7 RAW files? do I need to install Camera RAW plug-in?

The Camera Raw plugin is for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.
The functionality provided by Camera Raw is already built in to Lightroom.
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX7 was first supported in Lightroom 4.2 so Lightroom 5 will be fine.

  • What is the difference between LR Develop and Camera Raw?

I am new to LR, but have been using PS for some time.  My old work flow was to shoot in RAW transfer to my computer HD then process first in Camera Raw and do final adjustments in PS, then save back to the computer HD.
So far I like LR, which came as a bundle with my subscription to PS CC.  But I'm confused about LR's proper place in the workflow.
    So a few questions.
Is LR Develop the equivalent of Camera Raw?  If it is then can it substitute Camera Raw?
If not then should I process first in LR Develop before going to Camera Raw?  I like being able to apply adjustments to multiple photos in a shoot, but I still want the power of Camera Raw for some things, unless LR Develop does that better.
So I'm wondering what the best work flow is.
Is it Shoot>LR>Develop>Camera Raw>PS>Save back to LR.
Or is it Shoot>LR>Camera Raw>LR Develop>PS>Save back to LR.  (This one seems very difficult)
    Hoping to end my confusion,
    Bob Gall

Is LR Develop the equivalent of Camera Raw?
The image processing algorithms are identical.
If it is then can it substitute Camera Raw?
Yes, if you are going to use LR
So I'm wondering what the best work flow is.
Do as much development work as possible in Lightroom. Only if you need additional editing power (that Lightroom doesn't have) would you choose to send the photo to Photoshop. In this case, you would use the Lightroom command: right-cilck on the photo and choose Edit In... https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/help/open-lightroom-photos-external-applications.html#op en_photos_in_photoshop
This sends a copy of your edited image to Photoshop for whatever you want to do there. Once completed in Photoshop, you would do a SAVE (not Save As) in Photoshop for Lightroom to recognize the edits done in Photoshop.
You may (or may not) find that certain photos don't even need Photoshop.
Camera Raw is not needed in this workflow.

  • Need help installing Camera Raw Presets from DVD

I got the NAPP Goodies DVD and I am attempting to install the Camera Raw Presets.  It says to put them into Library-Application Support-Adobe-CameraRaw-Settings...  When I get to CameraRaw the ONLY folder in there is CameraProfiles.  I have searched everywhere looking for a CameraRaw-Settings folder and cannot find one.  I updated CameraRaw and still no settings folder.  I even attempted to find it by looking in camera raw where it has saved the custom settings I made as presets and it shows that they are saved but will not show me where.  I am using CS3 specifically Photoshop and Bridge. I do not have Lightroom.
Do I need to reinstall Camera Raw and how do you do that? Will I then lose my presets that I made in CameraRaw?
    Thanks for your help

The correct location (on Mac–since you don't bother to spec your OS) is:
    User Name/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/Settings
All user level stuff will always be in the User folder. Root level stuff goes in the root level/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw folder.

  • Do I need to use camera Raw to process images?

Do I need to use camera raw to process raw images b4 editing with PSE? And if so do I need to download it seperately? I can't find it under help/updates in PSE

What version of PSE and which camera? Normally, if you try to open a raw file into the editor, the camera raw window should pop up automatically.

  • PS CS5 64 bit, just bought a new Canon 70D I need a new camera raw

OK, I'm really confused, I have PS CS5 64 bit, just bought a new Canon 70D I need a new camera raw for this camera, I thought 8.2 was available for CS5 apparently not. Help!

Adobe only updates its current versions of products with new camera support. PS-CS6 and PS-CC were the current versions of Photoshop when the 70D came out so only those two versions of Photoshop will receive the new updated camera raw plug-in.
You can always used the DNG Converter 8.2 (currently available in pre-release status at Adobe Labs) to convert newer camera raw files to work with obsolete versions of the camera raw plug-in, paying special attention to the DNGC compatibility options to may sure you have them set old enough for your CS5-vintage plug-in.

I want to thank both of you for your help and thoughts. Yes I am a hobbyist, and photography is not one of my biggest hobbies. The possibility of an O/S upgrade breaking CS5 prompts me to think of another solution that has often been on my mind: Adobe could offer an alternative pricing model for the cloud service where I would pay per use rather than a flat monthly fee. "Per use" could be a coarse granularity such as "per day", in which case it would easily translate into dollars and cents, and to minimize credit card transaction costs it could be accumulated and charged once per month. It might also work like a prepaid phone service. Alternatively, "per use" could be finely granulated, e.g. as cpu milliseconds, maybe with micro-payments transacted many times per day using something like bitcoin. Being able to weigh cost vs benefit of what one is planning to do in the next few minutes is a wonderful way to achieve confidence in ones planned action and satisfaction in money well spent, which all encourages more business. Of course, there should be an option to lock the user interface from updating when new features are added, but that should be easy if the software is well structured to isolate the interface from the underlying capabilities.
The forthcoming Photoshop that runs on Chrome/Chromebooks might be something that Adobe might "meter" out to potential clients but right now, it's beta, is Windows-only and one still needs a Creative Cloud sub to join. Can't be out of the realm of possibility though since there's no software to install; it runs right in Chrome. It'd be perfect for the "run and gun" types that need Photoshop quickly...provided one knows how to use Photoshop.
