Hi! I've got CS3 Design Standard - the actual disks and Software License certificate. It was installed on my laptop which crashed and could therefore not be uninstalled. I have now installed it on my new MacBook Pro, but cannot get it registered with the serial number. Is it because it wasn't uninstalled on the previous laptop? What to do now?? Thx!

Maybe this can help someone else...  I simply had to properly uninstall CS3 and reinstall it again after that.  I think that sorted it!  I also remember having a similar issue with Macs at work a couple of years back.  Not sure whether the same applies to CS5/CS6.  Here's a link on how to properly uninstall CS3 on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Mac OS.  I'm on OS X 10.9.2 but it worked just fine.  Remove Creative Suite 3 and CS3 products

  • How do I install CS6:Design Standard onto my iMac? I already had it on my MacBook Pro and should get 2 downloads with the student version?

I bought the student version of CS6 Design standard 3 years ago and installed it on my MacBook Pro. I now just purchased an iMac and would like to download it onto this as well. I should be able to download it onto two computers from what I understand, but when I insert the disk for download, there is no install.app on the disk any longer. I only see set-up.exe (which is for windows). How can I get the programs downloaded onto my iMac?

Help would be much appreciated since i use my computer for everything at school and i am in desperate need to get this baby working again.

You didn't say which OS in your tag, but maybe you might find something here.

When I am listening to the radio (streaming through itunes) my macbook pro will log me out, quitting all the applications I have running (often firefox, word processing, itunes, etc). Why?
It's very frustrating and I don't understand why it happens. It might happen other times, but I notice it the most when I'm streaming the radio through itunes, though I think it's also happened when I'm streaming music or shows from NPR, so I don't actually know if it's an itunes thing, or an internet thing? Or just my computer being stupid?  But how can I fix it?
    Thanks!

My best guess at this point is a problem wwith 10.5.8
It seems clear to me that sometimes, seemingly randomly, software will access the video card (flash player, quicktime, Safari's HTML5 video player, etc) and it will cause a freeze and then log out.
However - it could just be video card + processor under load.
This didnt happen before 10.5.8 and I'm thinking it's not the new 27" display causing the issue.
I'm going to attempt to find time to revert back to 10.5.0 and then combo update back up to 10.5.7 which may be difficult as our IT is remote and we don't have access to Snow Leopard discs.
I may just have to bring my own in.

Virtually any DVD burner that can connect to your Mac will work. They start at $40 on Amazon.

  • I have a 2008 airport extreme, will I get greater range with the new version?

I have a 2008 airport extreme, will I get greater range with the new version of the airport extreme?

I have had both models, and frankly notice little if any difference in range, likely because the broadcast power of wireless routers is set by law, and just about every router is running at 100%.
The dual band feature of the newer model will allow devices that are in close proximity to connect using the 5 GHz band, which runs 2-3 times faster than the 2.4 GHz band.
If you need greater range, you will likely do better by adding something like an AirPort Express to "extend" the wireless signal for greater reach.....rather than simply replacing one AirPort Extreme with another.
Another option....if you opt for the new AirPort Extreme....would be to use it as your "main" base station and use the older Extreme to "extend" the wireless signal.

  • I own a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013) with a 500 GB Apple SSD SM0512F (Revision UXM2JA1Q).

I own a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013) with a 500 GB Apple SSD SM0512F (Revision UXM2JA1Q). I’d like to replace this original SSD with a Samsung SSD 840 EVO 1TB. Am I going to encounter problems in trying to remove & replace the SSDs? That is, are they the same type of SSD, with same connection?
I plan to have a "tech" do the actual work inside the MacBook Pro, but I'd like to know if the current SSD can be easily replaced with the Samsung SSD 840 EVO?
Please note that I am so "green" that I'm not even sure if this provides adequate information to answer my question!

it's not possible to replace your SSD with 840 EVO.
Samsung 840 EVO is a standard 2.5" drive with SATA connector, while Retina MacBooks use proprietary "stick" form-factor with PCI Express interface.
AFAIK, there are no compatible PCIe SSDs on the market, the only upgrades you'll find are for earlier (2012) Retina MacBook Pros which use SATA.
If you're looking for extra capacity, external USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt HDD/SSD is the best option.

  • I found a phone and its icloud lock what can i do to get in contact with the person to see what they want to do wit the phone

hi i just want to see what i can do to get in contact with the user of the iphone 4 i found. I just want to see what they want to do wit it so that i can use the phone or give it back to the person that lost the iphone 4 thank you

The best thing you can do is turn the phone over to your local law enforcement as a lost/found device.

  • Which Macbook Pro should i get for use with Solidworks?

I want to get a Macbook Pro but unsure whether to go for the higher end 13 inch or the lower end 15 inch.
I will be running Solidworks(CAD) a lot as im in my final year of an engineering degree.
Has anyone got either and had any problems etc?
    Thanks

Yes, the MBP you've suggested will do fine with MainStage but at the same time, I'd recommend you getting the fastest machine you can realistically afford as MS is still a very resource-hungry beast.....especially once you get to know it and decide that you want to do extra stuff that you didn't originally intend to do with it!
I also run a MOTU Ultralite MK3 and can recommend this as a very good bang-for-buck interface.....especially the new hybrid model (which I don't have) that has both firewire AND USB. Apart from Apogee interfaces - which are apparently phenomenal (and phenomenally expensive!) - I've also heard extremely good things about the RME Fireface 400 and 800 interfaces.
But back to the MOTU Ultralite MK3: it has heaps of I/O, is half-rack space (so very portable), is bus-powered (with A/C option), has onboard DSP FX, the latency is very low, is easy to set up and use, and is quite affordable for what you're getting. And MOTU is pretty good with tech support and the drivers are very high quality. Can't go wrong, really.
The only other thing I'll mention about using a MBP is that having a decent screen size can really help if you're using it live at gigs. I have the current top of the line 17" model and really notice the screen size difference compared to friends who have the 13" or 15" models.....there's a HUGE difference in screen "real estate" with the 17" screen.
BTW, it's rumored that Apple will soon be announcing the next MBP models and so you may want to wait till the end of April before you decide to buy something.

  • When buying on line my macbook pro will not let me go to the payment page of the web site

When purchasing goods over the internet my MacBook Pro will not allow me to go beyond the payment page therefore I am unable to complete my purchase. If I use a Windows operated PC in the same household I do not have this problem.
Are there any security settings on my MacBook preventing me going any further?
    Les

Your MBP will let you do everything. What you haven't told us is what browser, what prompt comes up when you select pay, and does this happen on every web site you buy stuff on.

  • My MacBook Pro will turn on but goes to the logo and loads.. But after loading it won't turn on

I clicked to turn my MacBook on.. It goes to the apple logo and loads like it's going to turn on afterwards. But then, the logo just sits there for hours. What exactly is wrong and how can I fix this???

It's hard to offer troubleshooting suggestions other than the basics when the OS system is unknown.  Each OS has it's own troubleshooting and/or diagnostics.

    Yes,
The NSA, FBI, CIA, the White House, and local police will all get it.
In the entire history of civilization has there ever been a situation where information existed that was not obtainable by authorities?   Answer, NO.
You can still use the conventional pass code if you wish.

  • If I buy a new macbook Pro, will I get OS X 10.5 'free' when it's released?

I've been waiting for the new Macbooks for a long time, initally because I thought they were going to be released with OS X 10.5, but now that 10.5 has been pushed back, will I have to pay for it when it ships if I buy a new Macbook Pro this month?
    I hope not.
    Nick V

    Nick,
You're playing a losing game, man. OK, so you have waited this (however) long for an updated MBP. Now, you will delay further for the release of Leopard. By the time Leopard is released, and there is no guaranty that it won't be delayed further, another update to the MBP might be on the horizon. Even if a newer MBP isn't in the works, there will be speculation. In any event, you will wait some more.
Where does it end? Will you ever actually break down and purchase?
In the meantime, you lose out on enjoying a fine-running machine and OS.
