What makes my default project location to bounce between two places in FCP X?

I wonder what makes my default project location to bounce between two places in FCP X?The project I am working on is on my local disks which are backed up (daily) to external eSATA enclosure. If I run FCP X just by clicking its icon (not a project file) in most cases it opens FCP X with a project but in event library there is not files linked.Sometimes it expands the project’s library located on backup station.
To make active the the local version (get it expanded and access all the files related to the project, I have to: close FCP X, launch FCP X by click on a project or a library file, close FCP X again and then I can get the project and its content displayed correctly just by clicking on a FCP X icon.
After backup is made (I use Carbon Copy Cloner to backup this volume) if I relaunch my FCP X, I have to start the procedure mentioned above all over again. What I am doing wrong?

Munas, what you describes sounds a lot like the problem I've been experiencing.
I have two matching external drives mounted. Drive 1 is the primary, Drive 2 is an identical back-up. Both identically formatted.
FCPX randomly opens drive 2 when I start the program, even when I click on a sidebar link to a project on Drive 1. The clips are often, nonsensically, shown as off-line.
I really don’t care if FCPX recognizes drive 2, in fact I wish it wouldn’t. I don’t, obviously, want to unmount Drive 2 just to use FCPX.
My workaround for this was to rename the Final Cut Events and Final Cut Project folders “FCE” and “FCP” respectively on Drive 2, and configure my back up utility accordingly.
Now, although Drive 2 is listed in the Events and Project Libraries on start up, FCPX doesn’t recognize any events or projects on it, and it sits there as an icon that can’t be expanded. I can live with this until a fix comes, in fact I rather like it.

What is the default database location of os x server 10.6.8

A guy at work just mistakenly change the database location of our OS X 10.6.8 server via Server Admin Tools. Now the Wordpress website that is hosted on this machine stops working because MySQL is messed up. I need to change the settings back to the previous default database location before tracing all the mistakes and errors.
Is the database location of Mac OS X 10.6.8 the same as other Linux variants? Is it /var/mysql?
Would anyone check the settings in Server Admin Tools for me?

Yep, I did use ps command to search for another mysqld deamon process already. Didn't find any other mysqld at all...
The documentation on MySQL's site suggests that this could also be the firewall problem. So I checked /etc/hosts, and 127.0.0.1 localhost is already there.

Another strange thing is that, from the log file, it seems that the mysqld deamon tries to start up and shut down every few minutes. So, there are repetitive complains in the log files about mysql.sock being not available...

Flex 3 / OS X 10.5 - Is it possible to change the default location for Flex projects somewhere in the preferences? I want to make this an external hard drive and can't seem to find a way.

Sure you can, you just need to create a workspace. Go to File - Switch Workspace - Other and choose where you want to place your projects by default.

It's not in an obvious location.

You can see the location of the cache on the about:cache page.
On Vista the cache can be found in \AppData\Local\ (the main profile folder is in \AppData\Roaming\)

What Tom said…and just to add: if you have any custom effects, pay attention to "Note" in the first section of this kb doc. (Speaking from experience, you can avoid a lot of stress by remembering to do that – especially if you're working on a job on someone else's system.)

Moving a project between two versions of FCP- Home and College

Hope someone can help. We're editing a project on an iMac at home, and a G5 at college. Our iMac is running FCP 5, the college ones are still on FCP 4. If we open the saved files, from an external HD, that we have been working on in college, we cannot then open those files in college again. We don't have version 4 to install on our machine, and the college won't buy version 5. Is there any way artound this problem, or do we have to work on the project in sections, then assemble the final peice on the iMac? We can get advice and help in college, and we need our teacher to help us with certain sections, so we need to be able to open up the project in college too, after we've worked on it at home.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, no XML in version 4.0 - it was introduced in 4.1 (which, unlike the upgrade from 5.0.x to 5.1, is simply a download from Apple, if the school will let you update).
In terms of what version of XML you should use:
Version 1 for FCP 4.1 to 4.5 (aka FCP HD)
Version 2 for FCP 5.0.0 to FCP 5.1.1
Version 3 for FCP 5.1.2 to 5.1.4
(Version 4 for FCP 6.0)

Mail bounces between two accounts

I have two email accounts on my macbook pro - Earthlink and Gmail. I have Earthlink set as the default account from which mail should be sent and this works fine. The problem is when someone replies to my original message and then I reply back, the message always comes from Gmail. How can I correct this?

The easiest way to accomplish this is to *create a new admin account* in the System Preferences/Accounts Pref Pane. Once the new admin account *(make sure the Allow user to administer this computer is checked in the new account)* is set up and performing like it should (by logging into it and verifying that you can actually administer the computer), change your primary account (the account that owns your emails) to a standard account by un-checking the *Allow user to administer this computer* in the Accounts Pref Pane. You can still administer the computer with your standard account, you will have to provide your admin login and password in the Authentication dialog boxes.

I have my account in leopard that has my entire music collection. I have just created a new account for my wife and would like her to have access to my library, having said that, I like my play lists and it would be ideal for her to have her own.

Move it from the Music folder of your home folder on the iMac to the same location on the MacBook Air; this can be done through target disk mode, or an external drive, or file sharing over a network. iTunes Store authorization won't automatically transfer, and any rented movies moved in this way won't play on the MacBook Air.

I am developing a mobile site application.
Currently I need to make a checkbox effect.
Here is how I want the checkbox to work for me..
I want users to click on the checkbox, for an option on the editor as well as its content on the live mobile to hide.
These are two different files which contains the user interface.(the live mobile file and the editor file)
Now how can I make it possible to make both options hide or show at the same time after a user clicks on the
checkbox to show or hide.
Is it possible for a checkbox created on a different file affects an external file to hide a div within that file?

Changing the Default Save location in Cap4

I know its possible to change the publish folder (Edit > Preferences) but what about the default Save location? Any clue how to change that from My Documents?

Ouch! Not the network!
One of the hard learned issues that folks are unaware of until they encounter problems is that Captivate does not do well when a project is stored on a network. It's fine to keep projects there in order to back them up or as a transfer pivot location to allow others to edit, but you never want to open Captivate, click File > Open and browse to a network location to open a project for editing.
Best practice at this point is to keep projects on your local C drive when you make edits.

Using OneDrive as default save location for project

I installed VS on 2 different computers and want to develop from both of them at times. Either my desktop of laptop. Therefore I want to store the project files on the Onedrive folders that are mapped on my local machine.
I have changed the default save location for Projects and also the other Registry Settings in HKCU... to onedrive/projects folder. But once I create the project from on PC and try to open it from another I am getting the following error.
the file xxxx.csproj : error : The project file could not be loaded. The filed cannot be accessed by the system.

I haven't test this issue about onedrive mapped folder. But may I ask this question: Does the location exist in your PC or is it just a mapped virtual drive?
In my point of view, when you tried to open a project from your folder, it is possible that the file is being used by onedrive synchronous process. Or Visual Studio cannot find the specific file because the file has not been uploaded/downloaded to the path
you want to search?
I don't recommend you set the default location to OneDrive folder, it is not reliable for you to do this because the synchronous process of OneDrive is not certain by us.
If you want to store your projects online, the recommend way is to use Visual Studio Online

If you want to store projects using OneDrive, please try create your projects on local drive and upload your file to OneDrive and then download it from some other sides to us. I think this is the best practise for you.

How do I set a default directory location for opening projects?

Hi there.
Using Windows 7.
What I mean is when I click on Open Project I want it to always go to the same location, namely C:\Users\Julian\Desktop\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\6.0\Projects
Each time I try to open a Project it seems to always go to some other random directory in My Docs.
I've looked for this in Preferences but cannot locate it.
Any ideas?

I just tested the Open Project function, and it appears to default to the location of the last project you had opened.
That said, I don't recommend saving project, or anything associated with your project, on the C: drive.
Adobe recommends a dedicated drive for video editing, and I've always saved my projects and all associated media on that separate drive. Not a big fan of the "My Documents" folders. Sure you can access them from the desktop, to a degree, but when in the Windows Explorer, stuff is buried too many folder down for my tastes. Makes it difficult to locate files later on.
I have a drive V: for video and will create a New Folder there when starting a new project. The Project gets saved there, as well as an video, audio, graphics, etc., and I do create sub-folders to organize those assets as inside the main folder.
