What makes Photoshop ignore my choice of destination folder?

Hello, experts:
I have been using Photoshop for basic editing for several years, now. For at least the last three years (whether I have used Photoshop CS5 or now, CS6), if I automate a batch of photos, going through the process of selecting the source folder, then the destination folder for the edited pictures, my choice of destination folder is ignored — the edited pictures end up in the source folder. Recently, they have even gone into a totally irrelevant folder. It was not always like this, but I now don't seem to be able to cure this annoying malfunction.
Can anyone out there tell me how this may be put right?
With thanks in anticipation of a helpful reply,

  • Batch action in CS6 ignoring my destination folder!

I have an action I have been using once every year for several years in a batch automation process in Photoshop. Its purpose is to resize all the images in a specified folder and save the new versions (using the same filename) in another folder. Both folders are specified in the Batch dialogue, which is also set to override any Action 'Save As' commands. This procedure worked without any difficulties using CS4. Today, I tried running it for the first time under CS6 and it failed on the very first image.
The problem is that it is triggering a request for my permission to save the image as a copy. The reason is that it is trying to save the modified file in the source folder and ignoring my specified (different) destination folder.
Can anyone offer some guidance on how to fix this?
    David

What operating system are you using?
Did you try rewriting (recording) the action using photoshop cs6?
Have you updated photoshop cs6 with the latest updates using Help>Updates from within photoshop cs6?
You might post a screenshot of the action with all the steps open and maybe someone will spot something?

What video card do I need to make Photoshop CC 2014 to use 3D? I have NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB graphics.

    A couple of questions:
    1.  Have you tried resetting your preferences?
    2.  If you go to Preferences > Performance - is "Use Graphics Processor" enabled?  If not, can you select it?
Your system should be fine to support 3D in PS CC 2014.  Once I have more information from you we can move onto next steps if necessary.

  • FAQ: How do I make Photoshop run faster, or How do I increase performance?

    Why doesn't Photoshop run faster?
There are many factors that contribute to the responsiveness of Photoshop. From hardware to software, there a nearly an infinite number of combinations that can boost or hinder Photoshop as it tries to work. Considering factors like how much RAM you have only begins to scratch the surface. Then you have to look at how fast the RAM is and how fast the motherboard will be in supporting it. A computer can only run as fast as its slowest components. Additionally, the hardware resources must be split between all of the running applications. And while you may only be running a web browser at the same time as Photoshop, what about all of the applications running in the background? Security software such as antivirus remains hidden, operating behind the scenes, but it still takes up CPU cycles and RAM. And what about the files you are working with? What are their pixel dimensions? File size on disk? Number of layers, smart objects, styles, and adjustments?
To start, though, you must make sure you meet or exceed the minimum system requirements:

What about Photoshop taking advantage of the power of my video card?
With each new release of Photoshop, it will take more advantage of you GPU (Graphic Processing Unit), which can process display information much faster than your CPU. You video card also has its own separate RAM (known as VRAM) for storing this information. However, not all video cards are equal, even if they have the same amount of VRAM. There are different display processing technologies that all video cards do not have access to. These include technologies like OpenGL, OpenCL, and Shader Model. And these technologies have different versions that your video card may or may not have.

  • Hi there, can anyone tell me how to make make Garageband ignore HDMI as an audio output-device on a 2013 Mac Mini? Now it keeps on prompting me: Do you want want to use the HDMI device (monitor without audio) for audio output? Thanks in advance, Grtz T.

    Hi there,
Can anyone tell me how to make make Garageband ignore HDMI as an audio output-device on a 2013 Mac mini i7 using an Apogee jam as an input for bass and a Behringer USB DAC with RCA audio output? Now it keeps on prompting me: Do you want want to use the HDMI device (monitor without audio) for audio output? I'm also suffering massive audio lag issues with the Apogee jam after waking the mini from sleepmode, wich pretty much renders it useless.
    Thanks in advance,
    Grtz T.

I think the easiest way to do this is to have the EyeTV app running in one user account and sent via HDMI to the TV, and use a separate user account for Screen Sharing. Both logins can be active at the same time and with Lion you can connect via screen sharing to which ever login you need.
With regards to the Mac video resolution changing, when it is not the current input on your AV receiver. This is 'normal', if the Mac sees no signal it drops down the a lower level. What you need is to buy a HDMI Detective Plus which tricks the Mac in to always seeing a signal and hence it will not drop down the resolution. See http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dproduct.jsp?prod_id=8005
The Mac mini does have an IR receiver. This can be used with the EyeTV app, iTunes, and similar. Yes I believe EyeTV would run for prolonged periods quite happily, it is has been around for a long time and had most of the rough edges polished off. However one issue you will have to deal with is that it does not automatically update its program guide data. For this you might have to write or modify an AppleScript. Elgato support or their user forums will be a lot of help.
You can set EyeTV to convert recordings to an iTunes (Apple TV) compatible format and then delete them from EyeTV.
The HDMI Detective should solve your handshaking problems.

  • How do I make Firefox ignore the "Use High Contrast" option in Windows?

I am taking care of a Windows XP machine which is running in "High Contrast Mode" for accessibility reasons. This display mode is enabled via the Control Panel of Windows (Accessibility Options, Display, Use High Contrast) and it has major impact on how Firefox display web pages. What I want to do is make Firefox ''ignore'' this operating system option, so web pages will be rendered "normally", but keep Windows in High Contrast Mode.
Is there any way I can make Firefox ignore this setting? I.e. run Windows in High Contrast Mode, but not Firefox?
A similar questions has been discussed here:
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Website%20colors%20are%20wrong
However, I don't want to disable High Contrast for Windows and the whole machine, just for Firefox.
    Thanks in advance

    John,
thanks for your comments. The computer is mainly used by a visually impaired person. She doesn't do much web surfing though and doesn't really need a high contrast web browser. If however a colleague wants to help her maintain the machine or quickly wants to look up something on the web for her, then it would be great if it was possible to access web pages "unfiltered", in their regular look and feel, as designed by the web author. In fact, the High Contrast Mode significantly changes the way web pages look, and sometimes screen elements needed for navigation etc. are suppressed or rendered invisible. (This, of course, is often related to poor web design, like graphical buttons or links with the actual label as a background image or without an ALT attribute, but unfortunately, vast parts of the web are not really "accessible", so accessibility will remain an issue for the browser as well.)
Creating a separate user account certainly is an option, especially for shared machines, but it makes it more complicated to quickly jump in and give her a hand. That's why separate user accounts are not really popular here; instead, Opera was installed which does not adhere to the OS setting and therefore grants a neutral view to all web pages.
Actually, when I started investigating on that issue, I was quite surprised that there was no option for this in Firefox, not even in "about:config". After all, Firefox obviously queries the OS for the Contrast setting and then chooses to render the page this or that way, so I thought they certainly implemented a flag or something to change the behavior. It seems however there is no such flag, is there? This distinction seems to be entirely hard-wired.
I am not sure if this is the place for change requests, but if somebody stumbles upon this question, is there any chance to make this setting open to the public? Something like an option "accessibility.useoscontrastsetting" or so? This might also facilitate it to develop an add-on for on-demand switching between the two modes, and web designers could check more easily how their work looks for those with poor eyesight.

  • Can I make Genius ignore certain songs in my l

Is there a way to make Genius ignore certain songs when creating playlists? For example, if I create a playlist based on "Adult Alternative" music, Genius will frequently select some of my off-beat Christmas music.

I'm not sure that playlists take up much space on an iPod, so what about a duplicate of the playlist in question without the songs you don't want?

I have created many idocs in sap. they are in status of 03 meaning ready to be

If i process it manually it is going. but it should be done automatically.

    Hi Sathis,
Same proble i was faced recently.
The problem was occured because of error opening an RFC connection.
you can see by yourself in the following way.
    Goto SM 59.
Select your appropriate RFC destionation say if destination is assigned  'TCP/IP connection' or 'R/3 Connection', under that select ur destination and press 'TEST <b>CONNECTION'</b> if shows green mark there is no error in connection or it indicates with red there is error in RFC destination connection.
Suppose if error is occured there is no basic communication setting done between these cleints, if it is case you would be go and talk to BASIS guy and he will make provides destination.

  • What is Photoshop Elements Trying To Do?

I use Photoshop Elements 8 with Windows 7 Professional x64.
When I open a jpg in Photoshop Elements, the cursor rapidly switches back and forth between 'ready'  (a pointer) and 'working' (a revolving blue circle) for about 60 seconds, then it settles into 'ready'.
What is Photoshop Elements trying to do for those first 60 seconds or so? Can I prevent this from happening? It's annoying to have to wait a minute for the program to settle down every time I open  it.

Make sure to download everything and make sure to put it into a proper folder, not loosely dump it on your desktop or other system-specific directories that may have limitations or special security settings.

  • Photoshop Ignoring Nikon Metadata

Seems that Photoshop ignores metadata on a Nikon raw image if the Metadata is written on the camera and not in PS.  The powers to be suggest is that you duplicate the effort by writting  this metadata in PS.  Have a problem with that as why duplicate the work/effort if it is already written on the camera at the time the image is taken.  Specifically on my camera I have th eimage comment field as 'Image taken by my name'.  When I view a Nikon raw iamge via PS I don't see this field as well as approx 8 other metadata fields/categories.  If I use teh Nikon viewing software IViewNX) I see all the metadata.  Heres the kicker - if I save the raw image under PS it (PS) will remove all the metadata it doesn't see or know about.  Is this a major problem or just a very bad quirk with PS?

The real problem is that camera makers' raw file formats are proprietary. There's no way ACR can read all the metadata, it's Nikon's secret sauce.
Make a metadata template in Bridge, and check the box to instruct the Bridge Photo Downloader to apply this to all raw files you import. Then you never have to think about it again.

  • What makes a jpeg open in ACR?

Working at a print lab we receive files from all kinds of sources.  Some of the jpegs that we get seem to automatically open in ACR, some go straight into Ps when double clicked (PC).  Does anybody know what makes an image open ACR?  Even if I have the "prefer ACR" turned off in Ps, the file continues to open in ACR.  The reason this is a problem is because the setting that the customer is making in ACR is not being saved/applied to the jpeg file.  Customer submitted file, prints were too dark, customer increased brightness +20 in ACR and resubmitted the jpegs.  But when we print they look just like the first batch.  When I double click the file, it opens in ACR and I can see the +20 brightness but when printed its not there!  Does anybody have any idea what could be happening?  Is it the manner that the customer is saving the files out of ACR?  Could it just be a bad action?  Thanks for any feedback!

If a customer modifies a jpeg file within ACR and then clicks on either Done or Open, the changes are recorded as tags in the exif data of the jpeg file; no modifications are made to the jpeg image data.  If you want to honor the customer's ACR edits you will have to open the jpeg file in ACR and Photoshop and either print from within Photoshop or save the file out of Photoshop.  Photoshop is the only app that will honor the exif tag modifications.
Added by edit - The reason I reiterated the info is I predict this will happen more and more often as customers with a jpeg workflow "discover" how easy it is to change white balance, brightness, contrast, crop, etc. within ACR and never have to muck around in Photoshop.  It's very easy just to click on "Done" when they're through editing, rather than go to the pain of saving it out as a new file.  And Adobe hasn't done a wonderful job of explaining all the consequences, IMO.

  • FAQ: What is Photoshop Showcase?

    Q: What is Photoshop Showcase?
A: Photoshop Showcase is an online photo-sharing site that can host photos as well as Adobe Flash® based files. You can share Online Albums to the Photoshop Showcase website directly from your Elements 11 Organizer.

It is a graphic design program that allow you to "manipulate" image and such.
Better explanation is already post at the first reply.
Here is the link for official sites and MSRP price (some seller is cheaper) :
    http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/
But if you are totally new and with limited budget, and want to create fun stuff without professional output, here is the option:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopelmac/index.html
I use both and sometimes the features on element is easier and you can get some result within two steps in elements while you have to do at least 4 steps to get similar result on photoshop.
Don't get me wrong, the element also have some profesional output, and powerful enough, and your imagination is the limit for both of them, but for starter and budget-wise I prefer you try element first, and you can step-up if you are more familiar, have the budget and ready to make money with photoshop.
    Good Luck

  • What makes subclass of exception checked exception

    Hi
When I make a exception class
    class TestException extends Exception{}
This exception is a "checked exception". Understood
But the predefined java class RunTimeException is also a subclass of Exception what makes it an unchecked exception. Does compiler treat this class differently.
How I can make unchecked exception class when I extend my custom exception class from Exception.

  • Firefox pops up an error message on certain pages, all other browsers work fine, how can I make firefox ignore the "error" [e2219] css init error: ReferenceError: g is not defined

Basically I want to replace the Ajax Control Toolkit Slider in favor of the Component One Studio for iPhone Slider for better mobile/desktop consistency (the ajax slider doesn't work well with iPhone). I created a simple page that works on every browser and platform (iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows) except Firefox, which fails on every platform. I have already tried disabling all plugins (safe mode) and clearing cache, I have also tried this with different versions of Firefox on different platforms. I posted this error on the Component One forum but since this only occurs with Firefox I believe this is a Firefox issue.
I searched for this error on the forums and Google but didn’t get any results:
''[e2219] css init error: ReferenceError: g is not defined''
    The console has this message:
''[12:05:26.954] uncaught exception: [Exception... "prompt aborted by user" nsresult: "0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE)" location: "JS frame :: resource:///components/nsPrompter.js :: openTabPrompt :: line 462" data: no]''
You can see the error by visiting http://www.componentone.com/i/
Visit the same URL with IE, Chrome or Safari and there is no error. If I click [OK] the page loads normally enough for me. Is there some JavaScript or CSS line I can put in the page to make Firefox ignore the error? If so that would be great because even if there is a fix put into Firefox itself there will be those millions of users out there that will not upgrade.
