What MIDI interface hardware works with Mavericks?

The usual frustrations when anything is upgraded:  other things stop working.  My Presonus Firebox is not compatible (although it lets me record, just not playback to create an audio track) with Mavericks and I would like to know what device will be.  I am using Digital Performer (8.05 now).
This information does not seem to be available online.
I sure wish that the software engineers would give continuity as a very high priority.

if you have a retina MBP, you should run the 64bit versions of either 7 or 8/8.1. it isn't tied to mavericks, it is tied to your specific machine

  • What midi interface would work with my iBook g4?

i want to record some simple vocals and was wondering what midi would be best

The midi interface works, but only with items with those kind of ports.
The one you posted a link to seems to need Serial ports. Not available
on newer Mac, perhaps on some older Tower G3/G4 or PCI card update.
    https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=Mini+Macman+Midiman
While the iMic product allows other product to attach to the audio
circuitry inside the Mac, by use of USB ports. Midi porting isn't native.
So other adapter &/or components would be necessary with midi.
A search of various kinds and models of MIDI (if you even need it?)
would yield several kinds of technologies and some outdated even
more so than the USB2.0 or 1.1 ports on an early iBook G4.
(Some suggest using adapters and network ports, LAN, etc, if you
were set up to choose Ethernet hardware as a path. iMic is easier.)
The item you posted link to has no USB and no way to connect to
the Mac, as you cannot use standard high quality audio equipment
with the iBook G4 without accessing the USB ports. With an iMic
you could also access output, for better quality, or pro headphones.
Some products currently available may not work with the older vintage
iBook G4 hardware, but the iMic can be used to adapt microphones,
and better quality audio equipment to the Mac.
I see one could order the iMic product from the maker web page, but
did not try their site far enough to see if it would take actual orders.
In some locations, you may be able to find a quality second hand one
for less than the asking price (without warranty, though) of a new one.
What kinds of audio are you attempting? Do you have midi hardware
already? The item you posted a link to has no way to connect directly.
But the iMic product from Griffin does connect to a USB port. Easily.
    Anyway, more info is needed...
Did you read the iMic -Griffin info?

  • Interface not working with mavericks 10.9.3

is there anything apple can do i have pro fire 610 on mavericks upgrade os x 10.9.3 but driver no good and no updates help!!

Try uninstalling all the software and driver(s) from the interface manufacturer and restart your mac. Then plug your interface in and see if it will work.
I have a (different manufacturer) audio USB interface which never worked with any of the drivers from the manufacturer, with either Mountain Lion or Mavericks. Support at the manufacturer kept sending me beta drivers, none would work. I uninstalled everything and my Mac's generic audio capablilties were enough to "see" the interface and use it.

  • What apps won't work with maverick?

i am about to update to Maverick, aere there any apps that won't function with Maverick?

It is far from a complete list but http://roaringapps.com/apps:table is a good starting point. It should not be considered 100% accurate.
Uninstall any and all "anti-virus" or "cleaning" apps that should not be installed on any Mac, and back up your system as a precaution against the unexpected. Merely having a backup seems to preclude the need to ever require one.

  • Audio interface not working with Mavericks

I know this has been asked before, but I only just got Mavericks and it won't recognise my M-Audio MobilePre as an output source.  I've tried installing new drivers but it didn't work.  Now I have $800+ of equipment that I can't use.  Is there anything else I can try to fix it? Or can I downgrade my OS?

I think it's something you need to take up with Avid.
Firstly, do Avid support the hardware on Mavericks? If they do, then that means it's a unique problem which hopefully can be fixed.
Secondly, are any relevant messages being logged when you access System Preferences > Sound or Audio MIDI Setup? Open Console utility, and have a look. You can filter for particular search terms, but start by looking at the time you do it.

  • What version of iphoto works with os x mavericks?

What version of iphoto works with os x maverick?

This screenshot shows which previous versions of iPhoto are compatible with Mavericks.  It also indicates which versions qualify for a free upgrade to iPhoto 9.5.1 and which require a purchase:
Note 1:  every day more users are reporting problems with iPhoto 8.1.2 so I've included it in the non compatible category.
Note 2:  If your previous version of iPhoto was iPhoto 7 (08) or earlier you'll need to download and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 application on the library before opening it with iPhoto9.5.1.

  • What printer will work with Maverick OS 10.9

I recently purchased a Brother HL- 2280 DW only to find that the device doesnt support Maverick OS 10.9.  Plus I am having a problem finding a printer that will work with Maverick OS 10.9 (Perhaps that is why it is named Maverick) Please help!

I did not get past loading the cd that came with the printer. It stated that my my operating system was not supported.
I personally avoid loading any crapware that comes with peripheral devices, printers, scanners, hard drives, etc. Very little of it is useful on a Mac.
Should I have ignored the cd info and gone ahead and plugged the printer into my Mac Pro then loaded the cd from brother?
No. You should have just plugged in your printer and added it in the Printers & Scanners System Prefs without loading the CD at all.

  • Which is the best MIDI interface to use with Logic 7 ?

    Hi folks :o)
Firstly, thanks all for any advice you can give. I'm a pro user, but right in the middle of a major upgrade (G4/OS9/CubaseVST32 >> G5/OSX/CubaseSX3/Logic7) & feel a huge learning curve coming on!
    The situation is this:
I have a Steinberg Midex 8 midi interface, plus a MOTU MTPav in the cupboard. The Midex took place of the MTPav because it had much better midi timing under OS9 with Cubase... The Midex8 drivers for OSX, however, are still beta & a pile of rubbish. (It keeps losing communication with the G5.) I'm fed up with how bad Steinberg have been sorting (not!) these problems out (not to mention the fact that Cubase SX3 can't recognise my 'studio' created in Audio Midi Setup either.. arghh!), so I'm considering jumping ship & going entirely to Logic in one hit, plus whichever is the best midi-interface for this software & OSX.
As food for thought, I'm currently thinking of tracking down a 'Unitor 8', having made the (perhaps wrong) assumption that it'd work 'best' with Logic seeing as it was made by Emagic. BUT, despite a lengthy search in Logic 7's manuals & this forum, I can't find any mention of Emagic's 'Active Midi Transmission' protocol & whether or not Logic 7 supports it; AMT is the only reason I'd buy the Unitor. (I've got all the other bases covered with the MTPav.) I'm also concerned about the long-term support issues regarding drivers for the Unitor 8 & OSX; ****, I'm having enough problems with Steinberg & their Midex 8 (which is still a current product in theory!) without throwing Emagic & a midi interface that's no longer manufactured into the pot...
So..... What do you folks feel is the best midi interface to use with Logic 7 as regards tight midi timing & system reliability? Can anyone out there with a big midi setup categorically say "I've got one (or more) of these MIDI interfaces, it works beautifully under OSX & Logic 7, & the MIDI timing is rock-solid, even when put under heavy midi 'duress' " ??
Many thanks again in advance for any feedback!
Your new Logic Pro virgin ;o)
    Jason

Thanks for your reply folks. It's good to hear a number of you are having good results with your MTPav - I guess I'll pull mine out of the cupboard in that case!
As an aside, it's been interesting to note how difficult it's been to get a clear answer from companies (be it shops or Apple) as to whether or not Logic 7 supports 'Active Midi Transmission' on the old Unitor 8 MkII..... (The reference manual has one mention of it in the index, yet points to a page that doesn't say anything about AMT at all!)
If anyone here DOES have a clear answer about AMT with Logic 7, I'd be very interested to hear about it... thanks.
    Kind regards,
    JC

  • I just downloaded Maverick on my Macbook Pro from 2011.  When I try to open iPhoto, it says that I have an old version that doesn't work with Maverick.  None of the solutions stated on this forum work for me, because there are no options displayed.

After downloading Maverick on the MacBook Pro that I bought in 2011, I am unable to open iPhoto. The message says "You can't use this version of the application "iPhoto" with this version of OS X.  You have "iPhoto" 9.2.3"  What???  That is ridiculous.  Why doesn't Maverick download everything?  I've tried the "fixes" I found on this forum, but none of them work for me, because there is no workaround via the library.  I can't access the library.

I have an old iPhoto version and it still works with Mavericks, the version before yours, that is puzzling.

  • Photoshop CS4 not working with Maverick?

I downloaded Maverick last night after using Photoshop CS4 all day. This morning when i tried to launch it, i got a message saying i needed to download Java SE 6 runtime. I said ok, it tries to install, but i keep getting the same error "Can not download software due to network error". I called Apple Support and they said if the software worked with Mountian Lion then it will work with Maverick I was told to call Acrobat. I did and they told me it was Apple's issue. After searching online it seems that it is Apple's issue. I tried downloading the SE 7 runtime that didn't work. Not sure what to do at this point. Any help would be apperciated.

    Here is the photo :
I use a spyder to correct my display color. It seem to be blocking me from chaning the accelration.
Could that be causing the problem ?
