What Mini to buy when considering viewing 720p QT trailers?
I have used the G4 mini in my theater room several weeks now and am very pleased. So now that I know it works, oh so better than the HTPCs that I had built, I want to place a Intel mini into the theater room. My G4 mini is fine with 480p trailers, and they look pretty darn good. My present Infocus 4805 projector will someday be replaced with a projector that will do 720p.
Ok, that said, I hope that one day I will be able to download 720p content from Apple. To view 720p QT trailers the specs say I need a 1.8 Intel core duo processor. I figure that may also apply to playing back the 720p content from iTunes. What I am curuious about is if people with a 1.66 Core Duo have had sucess with playing back the 720p trailers without any stutters? I am just wanting to put the money into additional memory if I can instead of buying the faster processor. From what I understand the aTV has a much slower processor, and if it might be able to play possible future 720p content then maybe, just maybe, I can get the 1.66 Intel for my theater system. If not, well, I guess I will spend the additional money. Oh, I sure do wish Apple would make some noises about if they are going to release a new mini soon with the Core 2 Duo.

Bear in mind, the RAM in a Mac mini is NOT a user-installable part. While the act of opening the Mac mini itself to install RAM does not void the warranty, if there's ever any trouble with your Mac mini that requires it to be sent in for repair, Apple may or may not honor the warranty. The best option is to custom configure a Mac mini online or have an Apple Authorized Service Provider upgrade the RAM for you.

What can I do, when the viewer shows strangely fragmented images I can't work with?
Good Evening,
I have lately the strange problem, that the images on my viewer in Final Cut Pro X (10.0.8) are heavily distorted.
As you can see on this Screenshot, mostly the image is like split into several channels. Sometimes, is has fragments of some sort of stored graphics from previous projects in it.
perhabs it is important to know, that it is on a second monitor. However it used to work properly before the error started to show up periodically. Now it occurs ervy time i start to edit my footage. It is really annoying and i can't edit any longer. I used to just click on another file and it disappeared for some minutes, but now it stays the whole time.
Hopefully you can help me with this. Is there anyone with the same problem? I can't seem to find anything on google...

It's possible that your hard drive is damaged. Hold Command and R keys while your computer is starting to start into OS X Recovery. Then, open Disk Utility, choose the hard drive at the top of the sidebar and look at the bottom of the window, so search for the SMART status. What does it say?
If it has failed, make a backup of your data and get a new hard drive. You can use any 9.5 mm 2'5" SATA hard drive with your computer. You can find some at OWC > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/ -
I have updated my iPad mini and now when I view videos I cannot zoom or pan around like before
Quit the mail app and reset your iPad like this:
Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem. -
What is the best compressor setting to use for DVD StudioPro ... when exporting a 720p 30 timeline from FCP for a project that will only be viewed in a standard def monitor?
Update: The iBook can play any 480p video and higher if I encode them with DivX and in AVI format. But of course this is not compatible with my iPhone 4. At least I can shrink my library now and get away from the full MPEG-2s. I don't get why I can't use Apple's h264 though. There has to be a setting I am missing. The sample Apple h264 videos from the days of Tiger worked flawlessly on my iBook when it was new so the CPU must be capable of decoding it. I really can't understand this.
Also, since I made my videos in English for my family, I had to create soft subtitles for my wife's Chinese family, and I can't get players like QT with perian or MPlayerX to sync them properly to an AVI encoded with DivX, they only sync well with the iPhone 4 m4v/mp4 formatted files I made. This is a real pickle.
So now I may need three or four copies of each video, LOL. I need to hardcode the subtitles if I want to use AVI to playback on older machines, and keep the mp4 file for the iDevices too, while keeping higher quality h264 videos for my American relatives...
If h264 is compatible with my iBook, what is the proper encoding settings? Must I dramatically lower the settings or frame rate? I can settle on 2 copies of each video that way. One iBook/G4/eMac compatible video that syncs correctly with my srt soft subs, and another version that works well with my iPhone 4 and iPad.
All in all, I will end up with more than 3 or 4 version of each video. On my late G5 dual core I have the full 720-1080p uncompressed master files. On my i5 iMac I have the h264 compressed versions for distribution, and lower versions for my iDevices. Now I need to keep either full MPEG-2 files for the iBook to play, or convert to older formats like DivX AVI for our family's legacy machines. I am running out of hard disk space quick now, LOL.
Is there an easier way? -

i am unable to open any links on any mail messages. thhis includes any buttons, such as view or buy when on a group on mail for example.
So I'm not Mary Frances. I'm her husband who is force to deal with this opaque and obnoxious equipment (iPad). With the iOS 7 update she could no longer follow web links by tapping them in an e-mail (it did work from a web page). After an hour of web searching, experimenting and rejecting the offer of an answer from apple help for only $20, I found that, if in settings/safari, you turn off the "Do Not Track" button, the ability to follow links in an e-mail by a tapping is magically returned.
Flash! I just went back to the ipad and turned on the "Do Not Track" button -- just to test my discovery. Predictably (by my cynical myself) you can still open a link in an e-mail, so I don't know what's happening/happen. But I'm not surprised. -

depends on what data occupies your Other category on your iPhone and whether you could/want to delete it or not.
Check your Camera Roll for lots of photos or shot videos, you can get rid of some which you consider wortty deleting. Regarding data allocated to each of your apps - this can vary and you can check that as described by John above. You can uninstall the apps on your iPhone you consider worth removing - this will remove their app data too. -
My Ipod mini syncs, but when I go to play, no sound. I've tried multiple speakers and headphones. No Go. What next?
My latest problem is that the Apple site will not recognize my equipment by it's serial number. I know the mini is old, but I like what it did for me and don't necessarily want to "upgrade".This is the iPad in the Enterprise forum. I just got a new Mac Mini, and now when I try to import photos into Lightroom, iPhoto ties to load them first, then Lightroom can't find the files. Big problem. What to do?
Simple:
File -> Export to get your photos out of the iPhoto Library. In the Export dialogue you can set the kind to Original and you'll get back exactly what you put in.
Apps like iPhoto2Disk or PhotoShare will help you export to a Folder tree matching your Events.
Once exported, you can then trash the iPhoto Library - just drag it from the Pictures Folder to the trash and empty it.
After that, if you're entirely neurotic about it, just put the iPhoto app in the trash and empty it.

Im having trouble syncing google calendar. If I add event to my calendar using my ipad mini, it won't appear on my google calendar when Im viewing it using my computer or phone. However, if I post an event using my phone or computer, it appears on ipad mini, why is this and how do I fix it to where everything syncs both ways?

Just installed mountain Lion. Viewing a pdf sent to me using preview and some colors are appearing BLACK, however when I view the same PDF in Acrobat they are perfect and what they are suppose to be. WHY would PREVIEW showing a different color?
Here's what I've found on the issue:
Pantone color definitions have changed (coinciding with CS6) — they are now "Pantone+" (I think that's what they're called). The "+" apparently means they're now LAB colors. Lab colors are not properly displayed in Preview (or in Finder previews) — they display as black (as far as I can tell, in all circumstances). I'm sure it's a tad more complicated than that, but that's the gist.
Now the bad news — nobody seems to know anything about a fix or workaround (unless you convert your PDFs to process — this might be a fix for sending to clients). It causes issues for me in AI files — being able to view them in the finder (with previews) is a HUGE time saver for my workflow... when they're all black, not so much.
In my chat with a director of product dev at Adobe, they placed the responsibility to fix on Apple (assuming Apple wants to support Pantone color definitions in their OS). -
I imported a video and when I play it back, the audio does not match the video. When I view the tape in my camera it looks fine. I've tried imported twice and each time it doesn't match. What can I do to fix this?
The default settings mostly likely use an audio sample rate of 32k. This doesn't work probably in FCP. You're probably better off capturing the tape in iMovie.

Hello, i am using ipad mini now. When i charge it till 90%, it will stop charging on its own. I need to reconnect in order to charge it till 100%. Another problem is when i am using an apps, for example looking through the photo, suddenly the screen will back to Home. Anyone know what is the problem? Thanks.

what do i do when iPhoto Deletes my recent pic's all the way to 2010????? i opened the program and it said i needed to update my library otherwise i wouldn't be able to view the images that were not updated…… and now they are gone!!!!!! You should get your keyboard checked as it's repeating on a lot of keys and makes you look silly.
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.
