What no video out with older extreamac cables

someone please help is apple gone MAD...
I just found out that the new nano wont allow me to use my old video out cable from extreamac. I love this cable it has a car adapter as well as the proper 30 pin hookup.
Any known solutions out there. Short of buying another 50 dollar cable.

Whenever I try playing certain DVD's in my internal drive, an error message comes up stating that: "Due to copyright protection, the DVD can not be played while TV out is enabled".
My question is: I know that the TV out function is enabled by default. Is there any regedit or any other means to disable TV out??????  ?(
This is a major issue. I either have to buy another video card (non-video out; non-msi), or never buy a DVD with this copyright protection.

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

Look at this similar problem in getting Netflix on an iPad 1. Same technique should work for you.

  • IPod Touch - video out using older iPod Composite cable

OK so the running commentary about video output from the iPod touch is a little confusing. It seems that the only video out supported by apple seems to be from their own component/composite cables. The older iPod Photo came with a 1/8" headphone A/V composite cable that allowed me to connect it to my TV for photo slide-shows with a soundtrack. Can I use this same cable to connect the IPT with my TV or am I now forced to purchase the $50.00 30-pin cable? I cannot find anything that is definitive, and I have not tried it yet. After spending a small fortune on the iPod I am not excited about having to buy a new cable...
    Thanks

Just the cable - I was using "dock" in the sense of dock connector (which is how the non-USB end is referred to), not the Universal Dock product.
Here are links to the Apple Store for the component and composite cables. These also include a USB cable for power.
You're guessing correctly - the USB cable (with the dock connector on the other end) that you use for syncing cannot transmit video from the IPT.

  • Using G5 iPod Video with older Firewire cable

I have an older iPod, the 15GB model that used the Firewire cable with the dock connector, but I just purchased a new 60GB iPod Video. It comes with an USB cable and not a firewire one, but I already have the power brick and stuff that uses my Firewire cable. Can I use my older cable with my new iPod Video eventhough it warns me when I plug it in?

You can use the firewire cable to charge the new iPod, but you can't use it to sync content onto your new iPod.
The power brick with firewire cable will charge the new iPod without any problems at all.

    FINALLY SOLVED!
For anyone having problems with your Apple Official Composite Cable, and perhaps this would include the Apple Official Component Cable. After months of frustration over my $50 dollar cable purchase to display iPad video and photos on my TV through the RCA video input port, the problem has been solved.
I stopped last night at the Apple Store and explained:
I bought the Apple Official Composite cable. I plugged it, and it did not displayed any video, while it would play the Audio channels. I have another iPad, and the result was the same. I tried playing my videos from my iPod Touch and iPod Classic, and to my surprise, the video came through the TV. I didn't know what to make of it.
A Genius from the Genius bar, took my iPad and cable, he connected it to their TV, and ... no video, he was puzzled as well. So he said, let's try another Apple Official Composite Cable, and there it was, video came through the TV.
I am satisfied with the result. That's what I wanted out of my cable purchase, to display video from my iPad to the TV.
I would recommend that if you have same issues I had, go to an Apple Store or contact somebody to the Apple Online Store and explain that a new cable my be the solution.
    Thank you.
p.s. I am happy with the problem being solved, however I am a little disappointed that it took this long to realize that it was a defective cable. Apple should acknowledge this problem in their documentation.

  • Does 7.0.2 allow the video out via AV composite cable?

    Hello,
I use the 30 pin to AV Composite cable a lot for work.
I teach, so I play movies and TV shows via this cable.
The TV sets are very simple LCD 6 year old TVs, so I can not rely on AirPlay.
Can anyone tell me if 7.0.2 is ok with AV composite cable?
    Thanks in advance.

  • TV out with Dock and Cable stopped working

    Hi,
I'm using the Apple Component AV Cable + Apple Universal Dock to connect to my TV and it used to work fine but recently it simply stopped working. If I connect the iPod straight to the Component cable it's all fine but it doesn't work if I connect it to the Dock (but it does charge it through the dock).
Any ideas what could be wrong with the Dock and/or how to fix it?

    Update
When I woke up system after being away for a little while, everything is now working as it always has.
Any thoughts on why this could be happening?

  • Blurry Text When Using Video out With FX 5900U

I just got a MSI Geforce FX5900Ultra VTD256, and i was trying to play games on my TV.  I used the S-Video to video (the yellow Cable) adapter and when im in the desktop, all the text is real blurry, i cant even read it.  I tried lowering the resolution to see if that would make it easyer to read, but it didnt work.  Can someone please help.  Maybe the is somthing wronge with me TV???

    Hi,
TV sets have lower resolution and bandwidth than PC monitors - the two are sort of related, but are not quite the same thing.
Resolution is often measured in "lines", meaning the number of individual vertical lines that could be displayed across the width of the TV and still be distinguishable as individual lines. A figure of 800 lines was considered pretty good, and could usually only be achieved in a TV studio, from a camera direct to a monitor. So 800 pixels is about as much as a TV (especially a smaller one) can reasonably display. (The vertical resolution depends on the TV standard, and is about 600 lines or pixels for PAL, and about 500 for NTSC)
The other factor is Bandwidth, which is measured in Megahertz (MHz). Basically, the finer the (horizontal) detail, the more bandwidth you need in the path between the source and the picture tube to display it faithfully. Broadcast TV is deliberately limited to about 5MHz, whereas a computer monitor will have several tens of MHz of bandwidth.
Also, the chrominance (colour) component of a composite or S-Video signal is limited to less than 2 MHz, so fine colour detail will be worse off (Black on white or vice-versa will give best results).
Anyway, the practical outcome of all this is that the highest resolution you can use for TV out is 800x600, and even then you need to use larger fonts (so the vertical lines are thicker, and there are a reasonable number of horizontal lines in a character).  The maximum number of characters per line should be less than 60-80.
There are some scan-converters available which use fancy techniques to render a reasonable image at higher resolutions, but they are fairly expensive.
S-Video should give better results than composite, but you will still be up against bandwidth and resolution limits
    Cheers

  • S-Video out with adaptor question,

Hello all, I was hoping that someone might be able to give some advice. I recently got a new Sony HDTV and would like to run my monitor from the G5 to the Sony HDTV. I have an adaptor that will let me transition the monitor to S-video to run to the Sony,my question is, is it possible to do this without shutting down and rebooting? Can I do this cable switching without doing any damage to my computer or tv? Thanks for any help and advice~

Make sure you get the adapter or cable with the correct DVI connector. There are several types, and they look similar but don't fit if it's the wrong type. The best thing would be to take a cable that works with you to an electronics superstore, and make sure the pins are the same.
This document explains better than I can
    http://www.datapro.net/techinfo/dvi_info.html
Fortunately, there's only one type of HDMI connector.
Also, I'm not sure about "switching" if you mean you are going to disconnect your main display and connect the HDTV. My setup had the main display and the HDTV connected at the same time. In that arrangement, I can plug in the HDTV or unplug it without restarting.

  • Using MBP video out with with 2 adapters

I have the an early 2011 MBP (15'', 2.2GHz, 10.6.8). This video output connector this computer has is a MiniDisplay port (Thunderbolt digital video output). I often need to connect it to a projector at college. Most of these projectors still use serial (VGA) input.
My problem is, I don't have a MiniDisplay port to VGA adapter. But I do have a MiniDisplay port to DVI connector and a DVI to VGA connector (came with my previous 2008 MBP). I tried using both connectors but it didn't work. The MBP doesn't recognize the external display and doesn't allow me to output video to it.
Have anyone had any previous experience doing this (using two adapters to get video output form MBP)? Is it possible? Any ideas?
    Thanks.

I've never tired it, it may work, or not. I'm not sure on the specs, but if the mDP>DVI is expecting a return signal, the DVI>VGA may not return one, in which case no signal will ever be sent out of the the MBP if it doesn't see a monitor attached.
A straight Mini DisplayPort to VGA adaptor is available from Apple as well as store brands. My local big box store had both to choose from.

  • What do you do with older versions of Logic?

I have owned Logic back since Platinum 6, and now i have that version and 6 Pro just sitting around, in their massive boxes with those bible sized reference manuals. I'd like to get rid of them somehow but after checking with ebay, I don't think selling old software is a hot commodity. Plus, it seems complicated, with all the registration and XS key stuff.
So just wondering what other people here do with their older versions of Logic (or older versions of any other music software) for that matter. It's just taking up a lot of space...

To authorise stuff on your XSkey, you type in your authorisation codes for whatever product it is, and it gets stored on the key. One XSkey has an individual serial number, and your authorised products are keyed to that serial number.
I got mine with Logic 5, then aadded the ES1 and EXS24 to it, then got a free Mac 5 authorisation when LPC was dropped which got stored on it, then the Logic 6 Pro upgrade which got stored on it, and then the Logic 7 Pro upgrade, and it also authorises Waveburner and SoundDiver.

  • Video out with Ti 4400

    Hi,
I've been reading some threads about problems similar to mine, I can't seem to quite find what I want, so here's what I want to do.
I have a vcr connected to my tv, and I want to use the tv out of my vcr to be connected to my pc to see the picture on my monitor. I think everything is correctly connected. Now, I'm not sure how to view it. I've read that I need to use WinProducer to look a it, but I can't seem to find the right settings to view it.
Am I using the good program?
What settings should I use to correctly see the picture?
Any program (freeware or shareware) that does the trick better?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Mathieu

    Hi,
I used to have the same problem with winproducer so I gave up with that long ago. Now I use Virtual Dub 1.4.8 and I have no trouble with capture at all.
But just to view what the VCR is playing and no need to capture I use MV2 Player. This is an absolutely awesome multimedia player. It plays DVD's avi's audio cd's mpeg's and it has an in built menu to control it's operation. I use this in conjunction with uICE (Universal Infrared Control Engine) and an IR Man (receiver device) to control it via infrared.
I always set the tuner to composite then I get a decent colour picture.
    Hope this helps!

  • Video out with XP (bootcamp)

    Hi guys!
i installed windows XP via BootCamp, and i have an mini-dvi to video adaptor.
it works well with OSX, but in XP it just doesn't reconize the adaptor.
    anyone also hase this problem?

    Daniel,
I checked the Apple support site when I installed BootCamp. It clearly stated that the miniDV output is not supported in Windows. I also get the flashing effect when I try. If it's vital, you may find a USB to VGA converter.
    Good luck!
