When I call someone with skype to go from my mobile #, Which number is displayed on the receivers caller id....is it my skype # or my mobile #?

Thanks John UK. I checked the firewall but it set to allow all incoming calls. So, I am still at square one. Any further suggestions?

what does it mean when you call someone and it goes straight to the 3 beeps to mean cancelled? this phone doesnt even ring, it just goes straight to the BEEP-BEEP-BEEP, its an iphone 4 and on IOS7 and it was ringing eailier on in the day when i spoke to this person. it wouldn't mean i have been blocked would it?

i got my friend to message this person to see if they had the same problem, and the message went through and i think he got a reply, and all of a sudden this has started to work again (calls only) but apparently none of my messages went through that i have sent since the block activated. and they still havent even though there working again, and "apparently" a message was sent to me at 9pm today and it has never arrived. so imessage and text still isnt working, before i go asking this person about this, is this a genuine block or is there a phone problem?

Skype number not displaying correctly with Caller ID

Hello, I have had my Skype number for several years and it's been no problem for those with Caller ID to have my Skype number displayed when receiving a call from me. However, the past few months this has changed dramatically. Now, my Skype number is NEVER displayed when calling someone and in fact, most of the time it displays numbers or even names randomly which have zero relation to myself or my number. Other times, the users Caller ID will display "Skype User". Why has this suddenly happened and what can be done to ensure that it's corrected and working properly again?
My account is indeed configured to display my Skype number (as it has been for several years), but this has no longer has any bearing whatsoever on the number displayed when I call someone. I have found that some people are no longer accepting my calls since they have no idea that I am the one calling them.
This is happening when I call numbers in the U.S. and sometimes Canada and does not matter where my physical location is - if I am in the U.S., U.K., Hong Kong, Taiwan, etc, the result is always the same - my number is NOT displayed.
If anyone could offer some advice which would take care of this, I would be most appreciative. Thank you, Greg

But that same FAQ indicates that Caller ID is available for the U.S. And this is where I make the majority of my calls. However, as I mentioned in my original post, my Caller ID has NOT been displayed for several months. What is displayed are randomly changing phone numbers and names that have no bearing whatsoever with anything related to my actual Skype number or name. I've done my own testing when calling my home phone from Skype. I'll call multiple times in quick succession and I will get different results each and every time. How can I change the display name when I call someone?

I recently gave a re-provisioned 8300 to a new employee. I wiped out the phone, and re-setup the phone in our exchange server to match the new user's settings.
The only problem he's having is that when he calls someone, the display name shows the previous users name as the person calling.
How do I change that?

You don't say what model the device is, but if GSM, make sure the SIM card has not been edited to the preview name.
Options > Advanced > SIM card > Menu > Edit Sim Phone Number

There are normally a couple of reasons you would hear that particular message.
1.If the announcement is received when calling one specific number the issue is with that device's service provider. They would need to contact their provider and do an investigation.
2. If the announcement is received when ANY number is called the issue is with the Verizon Wireless network. At that time, we we need to open a remedy ticket (which reports it to our engineers to investigate further).

If there's an Apple store nearby make an appointment with the genius bar to have it checked. Be sure to sync it and back it up, as well as import your photos and videos to your computer and back up your contacts separately (such as by sync them with iCloud) in case it needs to be replaced.

Your iPhone can take multiple calls. If you answer your phone from one person or call someone and another call comes into you, you will hear a beep and if you pull your phone away from your ear, you will see that you can hang up the call with the 1st person or answer the 2nd call and then swap between the two.
I have no idea what you mean by you calling someone who is already talking to someone. I've never been able to see on my iPhone that someone I'm calling is already talking to someone else.

Try turning down the speak volume (System Preferences->Sound->Output->Output Volume) or the microphone gain (System Preferences->Sound->Input->Input Volume). Do this on both sides of the call.

Brand new 5s- sometimes phone numbers display when receiving calls and texts instead of contact name.

Brand new 5s- sometimes phone numbers display when receiving calls and texts instead of contact name. Hard to know who is calling/texting! A few times I've tapped on the text message icon and I can actually watch as the conversations turn from showing just numbers to the contact names. Same thing when looking at call history and voice mail- sometimes it shows numbers and then I'll go back and the contacts will be back. So frustrating!

There may be a defect in the phone. As you bought it in the US the only place you can get it looked at is in the US.
When you say you bought it new, unlocked did you buy it directly from an Apple store? If you did not it was hacked to unlock it, which could also be your problem. Apple stores are the only place in the US that sells legitimately unlocked iPhones.
