What number should I put in "Number of Qualifying system for right to copy" in OS mountain lion up-to-date program form?

what number should I put in "Number of Qualifying system for right to copy" in OS mountain lion up-to-date program form? I'm a newbie on mac, just bought MBA two weeks ago. I've tried software update but it is not upgraded to mountain lion. what should I do to upgrade for free?

I'm on the page "https://uptodate.apple.com/UtdPrepareAction?program=Mountain%20Lion&locale=en_au"
and I still have the same question as the original poster, what number should I enter into the field:
"Number of qualifying systems".. cause "1" doesn't do it.. and the other numbers don't work... >:___:<

  • Where do I find the "Number of Qualifying Systems for Right To Copy? I qualified for a free upgrade of montain lion.

I was filling the form to get a free upgrade for the mountain lion. I qualified for that because I bought it in the time stipulated. When they asked me about the number of qualifying systems for right to copy I don't know what to write.

That's for organizations with group licenses. If you are applying as an individual, you can ignore that field.

  • What do you do about a denial in the Mountain Lion Up-To-Date program?

I ordered my new Mac Mini from Amazon.com on Friday, July 27th and received it on July 28th.  Later that day I filled out my Up-To-Date application form and uploaded a copy of my Amazon invoice.  That evening I received a denial email saying:
Receipt does not indicate product was paid for and received
Receipt does not show purchase of a qualifying product
The next day, I sent off an email to [email protected] questioning my denial and included a scan of my actual Mac Mini box.
I made a Genius appointment at an Apple Store and took them my information on Monday the 30th.  They looked at my receipt and the internal Apple records and agreed everything was in order, but didn't have the actual power to change anything.  They would have been happy to upgrade me to Mountain Lion on the spot, but I hadn't brought the actual mini in.  All I wanted was my authorization code.  They suggested I contact ExpressLane.
I went home and opened a support ticket with ExpressLane.  They called, agreed everything was legitimate and valid, but also did not have the power to  change anything.  They suggested I email [email protected], which I already had done.
Yesterday, July 31st, I sent another email to [email protected] summarizing the text thus far and asking what I needed to do.
An hour ago, August 1st, I received another identical denial from the UpToDate program stating the exact same reasons.
Do they even read the appeal emails?  I bought a brand-new Mac Mini on Saturday from an Apple Reseller and they tell me I'm not eligible?  I know it's only a $20 purchase, but it's now become the principle of the matter.
Where do I go from here?

I tend to agree but I was told they didn't give out refunds in this case.  It's not that big of a deal yet because this is actually my first Mac and I didn't see anything on the list of features that I had to have.
My biggest concern was that there doesn't even seem to be an appeal process.  The Apple Store and Apple Support people looked at their records and saw that everything was legitimate but couldn't do anything. It's like the UpToDate support people didn't even read my email or bother to even look at my information.  Thats the part that's most annoying about this.  That and the fact that they even denied it at all, considering I sent them the Amazon invoice and Apple records show they sold it to me in the first place.

  • What mode should i put my computer in before travel

Ok, i will be bringing my macbook to school with me come this semester. what mode should i put the laptop in before putting it back into my book pack after a class to travel to another class. So im looking for a mode like sleep, completly shut down, etc. that will be safe to move the laptop around. preferably a mode that has a quick start up time so i can put it into whatever mode, travel then put it down and quickly restart taking notes. thanks

Relying on the Sudden Motion detection is not a good practice. The safest way to travel with your Macbook (and hard drive that spins) is to shut it down, anecdotal experience aside, it is the best practice. I work with peole who carry their PC laptops around running and they have no problems (except they heat up) but that is like saying, I don't wear my seatbelt and I have never needed...until you crash. Shut it down. It will not save that much time using sleep mode and restarting does some initialization that binary computers need.
That is complete untrue. Sleep mode puts the HDD to sleep, basically OFF (Not Spinning) so the SMS does not even come into play when in sleep mode.
If you carried your notebook with the lid/screen open and not in sleep mode then you do depend on the SMS to Dock the HDD heads when a sudden movement may/might damage the drive. This is not the case in sleep mode even with the lid/screen open.

    Thanks

Whichever jars have the classes that you want to use (you should probably put all the jars that you got with this program)
Also, try adding an import statement:
    import org.apache.crimson.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl;

Give details of the problem. A statement such as "it doesn't work" conveys no information. If it did work, you wouldn't be here. Instead, you should post something like this: "I did A; I was expecting B; but I got C instead." Include the complete text of any error messages you saw and where you saw them: in an application window, a CrashReporter window, a log, or whatever. Also include the steps you’ve taken yourself, if any, to try to resolve the issue. If the problem is of recent origin, did you make any changes to your setup just before you first noticed it? Is the problem reproducible or intermittent? That is, does it always manifest itself when you take a certain action, or only at unpredictable times?
Before posting, ask yourself whether it’s likely that you are the the only person ever to have had this problem. If not, search the discussions for answered questions similar to yours. If you found any pertinent information, but it didn't help, include details.

  • I cannot use the Lion up-to-date program! I bought my MBP on June 8 and when entering the serial number says ineligible! Thanks!

Thats the deal, i am a qualifiyng user for the Up To Date Program, and when entering the serial number of my MBP it says i am ineligible. I already tried with the form that had to be filled up if the direct method didn`t work and it has the same issue. My only possible explanation is that it seems they recently added a date limit for the submission of an order to get Lion free (July 19), which makes me be very disappointed with Apple because in the first communication about the up to date program they listed: "Customers who purchase a qualifying Mac between June 6, 2011 and the date when Lion is available in the Mac App Store will have 30 days from Lion’s official release date to make a request" .
Please help me, I am from Chile and my sister bought the MBP to me by the Apple Online Store, so I can`t personally go to an Apple Store to explain my problem.
    THANKS!

    Muchas Gracias!

  • Where should I put my extended unit test assemblies for Visual Studio 2013?

Hi, I have a question about M/S Unit test extension.
    1. My purpose
I'm trying to extend Visual Studio Unit Test.
The points where I extends unit test is to output detail logs.
My development environment is as follows.
    OS: Windows 8.1Pro (64bit version)
IDE: Microsoft Visual Studio Professional 2013
      (Version 12.0.30723.00 Update 3)
    2. Things which I'd like to know
To enable my test extension, it is required to put my test extension assemblies into designated sub folder under Visual Studio's installed folder.
The source of this information is MS developers blog below.
Q1. It's required to put the assemblies bellow.
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies
Howerver, the guidance in the blog is for Visual Studio 2010.
In Visual Studio2013, above "PrivateAssemblies" could not be found under "\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE" folder.
Where should I put my assemblies for my 2013. Is there any substitution for "\PrivateAssembly" folder?
Q2. Another requirement is to set Assembly information entry into the registry below.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\EnterpriseTools\QualityTools\TestTypes\{13cdc9d9-ddb5-4fa4-a97d-d965ccfc6d4b}\TestTypeExtensions
For Visual Studio 2013, I could find almost the same node hierarchy, but
could not find the last "TestTypeExtention" node. Instead,
    I could find "Extensions" node.
Should I write registry entry here? Or, should I make a new "TestTypeExtension" node and write the entry there?
Q3.Last question is more basic question.
Is there any way to kick extended test program in Visual Studio 2013's Test Explore
without registering my assemblies in the way recommended above.
I think it's much tender for developer's in debugging phase. For example,
it is very much helpful, if I could kick a unit test which uses my extended test class in the unit test extension solution.
That's all. Any information concerning this topics will be appreciated.

    Hi TrailRunner-MF,
One possible reason is that you didn't view the correct folder, for example, in my windows 8.1 64 bit, it is in the path: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE", not the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio
    12.0\Common7\IDE " folder.
    Best Regards,
    Jack

  • "Cant Find Serial Number" for Lion Up-to-date program

    Hi,
I have purchased new macbook pro on 8th july 2011. I went to their website for Mac OS X Lion up-to-date page to fiil out the information regarding serial number and date of purchase. But it gives me error
Sorry, we can't find the serial number you provided. Please recheck your serial number and enter it again.
I have confirmed my serial number with Apple support page and it exists.
So can anyone suggest any solution to this ? Is it because of server overload or I have to call Apple Support to get the update from them ?
    Thanks in advance.

Yes, it isn't working for most people.  I spoke to Apple Online Gov't Sales regarding this issue where I recently bought iMacs... I also can't  get the Up-To-Date link to even recognize my serial numbers for the two iMacs I bought on June 21st.  Apple Sales was able to verify that my serial number were correct, and are aware that there is an issue with the program not propewrly reconizing them.  They said to try back in 24 hours.  I told them I had taken the day off specifically to do this redemption and download, and they gave me a $50 credit on the account I bought the computers on.  since they gave me the credit, I'll just go ahead and buy the thing in the App store and not worry about the redemption.

  • OS X Lion Up to Date Program won't qualify serial number on new iMac

I purchased this refurbished iMac thru the Apple Store Online - which is where I saw that it should be eligible for the OS upgrade.

Not always - the old Mac Up to Date program required us to send for a disk from Apple and if you didn't supply all the information required or missed the cut off date you were SOL. If anything, this system is easier for most of us.

  • HT5612 How long should the download take to go from Snow Leopard to the newest version of Mountain Lion?  I started the download 2 hours ago and it's still running.

I have ac OS X version 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.  I bought the upgrade to Mountain Lion and started the download 2 hours ago.  It is still downloading.  What should I do?  Is this typical?

I don't know how to determine how fast it is.
There are several internet sites you can access to test both your upload and download speeds. Among them are:
    Speedtest.net
    Speakeasy.net
    WhatIsMyIP.ccom
Be aware that there can and likely will be wide variations in the tested speed depending on the location of the server running your test, time of day, etc. The results should be taken with a grain of salt and treat variations of less than 10% as inconsequential.

  • TS2951 what is the migration path from 10.5.8 on an iMac to the latest OS Mountain Lion

I have an intel Imac with osx 10.5.8  What is the proper way to upgrade the OS to current Mountain Lion and NOT lose my personal data?

Back up your data, phone the online Apple Store, order a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD, buy at least 1GB more RAM for your computer, install the DVD, run Software Update, and if your Mac supports Mountain Lion, get it from the Mac App Store.

No intention to dispute your advice here Pancenter, but just out of interest, what kind of problems are you referring to?
    Thanks in advance!
Since it was a new iMac he was going to purchase, there is the huge iMac/Fusion Drive Thread.
The other thing is... the Fusion drives offer no improvement over standard drives for audio, in fact performance may be less, plus there is an additional software layer installed to mange the Fusion Drive... and to top it off, the the regular spinning disk of the Fusion Drive is only 5400RPM.
    Here's the thread.

  • What slots should I put my graphics cards in?

I have an early 2009 Nehalem Xeon Mac Pro and I use 3 NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 graphics cards.
My question is, what is the best arrangement in the 4 slots for them? Right now they are ordered in slots 1, 2, and 3. But that means 2 and 3 are stacked right on top of each other. Is that a heat problem?
Or would the 3rd one be better on the top most 4th slot? What seems like a problem with that is then the top one is flush with the hard drives, which could be another heat issue?
So, I guess the options are: stack cards 2 and 3 together with more room for hard drives.
Or, space them all evenly apart, but with the top most one blowing hot air into the hard drives.
    Thanks!

Heat isn't because the cards really are low end performers, but the only reason to use 3 is to drive 5-6 monitors. No need to put each monitor on its own, and rarely a benefit from such an arrangement.
I like to have air around the hard drives.
Have you ever seen a PC with 2-3 highend double-wide cards in SLI?
