What on earth is lockscreen.app?

What exactly is this program? I accidently started it when Quicksilver decided that it was the most relevant program in my entire computer...even though I'd never run it before. A huge padlock engulfed the entire screen with no way to unlock it. I had to turn the computer off and then back on and it took AGES to start back up. When it finally did start back up I noticed that Spotlight was reindexing all of my hard drives for no apparent reason. What the **** is this program? Why is it on my machine, how do I get rid of it? I searched for it on Google but no real information came up, just one thread repeated across five or six forums (including this one). I'd like to know what this thing is and why it's there, if anyone can help that'd be great.

Nothing about lockscreen.app in that link. They're talking about using screen savers and fast logout to "lock your screen", but there's nothing there about the program that I'm talking about. Lockscreen.app provides +no way+ to unlock the screen and it also blacks out the entire screen and puts a huge padlock image (that takes up the entire screen) on it.
It's actually a program within a program. I found it (well, Quicksilver did actually) hiding inside the AppleVNCServer.bundle package.

I apologize in advance if this question has been asked (a search for lockscreen.app gave me nothing), or if this is the wrong forum area. (I'm sure a moderator can move it.)
The problem I'm having is this: I wanted to assign the "squeeze" option on my Mighty Mouse to trigger my screen saver (thus locking my screen, since I have to enter my password to get back). I assumed that the screen saver was a .app, the way expose, the dock, and spaces are. So in searching through the Utilities, I found something called LockScreen.app and tried that out, which was apparently a huge mistake.
What happened was my screen showed me a full sized picture of a closed padlock, and the computer became unresponsive. I was unable to come up with any key combination to break out of it, or to use cmdoptesc to break out.
I decided the only thing I could do was to shut down the MacBook. Now, however, it will not boot back up. I power it up, it shows me the "Leopard" background and the dialog box to enter my admin password (which I have it set to do on boot-up), and then the dialog box disappears leaving me with a locked screen after I enter the password. I don't know what to do, and I do not want to reinstall Leopard and lose all my data. I'm still in the middle of switching over from my PC, and I am not sure what info I have backed up where yet. I could potentially lose some important stuff.
Any suggestions would be helpful, at this point. Why is there a program that does this? What purpose does it serve?

Well I got as far as the AppleVNCServer.bundle, but I wasn't able to open it as there was no default application to do so, and I'm uncertain that I really want to in view of your experience. It looked like a white lego.
Are you under Applecare by any chance? If so, you might try calling Tech support and see if you can get to talk to a product specialist. This is the level above the guys that answer the phone. You want to call early in the day so you won't be on hold forever. Since these guys are Apple experts, there's a good chance they could help you.
There has to be a way to unlock this. Most users aren't adventurous enough to go that deep into their hard drive so I don't know if anybody on the Leopard forum is going to be able to help or not. I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to. I don't know where else to go to get the answer.

You can use that app without iCloud and you don't need a new iPhone.

What is wrong with my app store?

What is wrong with my app store? I am trying to update my apps and purchase a new one but it is not working on my iPad. It is working on my iPhone 4 though.
I have tried turning my iPad off then on, I have tried re booting it by holding the 2 buttons at once, don't know what else to do. I have even gone in through the general settings and logged out of my apple ID then logged back in. This is annoying. I just want to buy an app!!!

The App store appears to be having issues right now.

What's wrong with my app? I tried to download it multiple times, restart, delete, repeated. It'll download, but not really finish. The app remains blackout and says downloading. Help me out please. And yes, I already followed apple's guidelines on their sight to try and resolve the issue. No luck.

Have you tried restarting your phone? If you have and your problem is not resolved, then best thing to do is to wait for Apple to release a new update for iOS and then re-try the download. I am sure this problem will be fixed. However, if in the next update, the problem is not resolved I recommend reporting this problem to Apple so they can fix it in their next iOS update. Hope this has helped.

I repeatedly have problems loading https sites, e.g., bank, credit cards, etc. that I have used for ever. Anyone know what on earth is going on? It wont even load the proper images or allow the links to work. I've tried everything you suggest but no luck

I have a Mac OS X 10.4.11 Power PC running Firefox 3.6.11, and every time I try to access a secure site that I have accessed many, many times before and even TaxAct last year, the images do not load nor do the links on the page work. The bank and credit card pages constantly come up with the "Security" issue, & even when I try to "accept" the exception it will not allow me to even though everything in the "details" section is fine. I have no idea what on earth is going on, I have literally tried everything you have suggested without any success. I don't know what else to do. Can anyone please help me?

Sucks, don't it? It's a not helpful error message.
Sadly, rebooting your Mac often is required to get work done in Pr these days. You could also try deleting your prefs, and searching for and quarantining corrupt media.
I believe corrupt media or corrupt projects are the major source of crashes on the Mac side.
And since you're on a Mac, run Disk Warrior and Repair Permissions after all OS upgrades and software installs.
And when you're editing, set your Auto-Save frequency to a short interval, and increase the number of saved projects to 100 or so (I have mine set to 1000.), OR Increment and Save As often. This might save you from losing entire projects to project file corruption, as has happened to me. I have a thread similar to yours now because Pr won't open projects that have been corrupted. I learned about multiple versions the hard way.

Unless you want a new computer, forget about AVCHD. It requires too much muscle to edit comfortably on anything but the fastest computer.
What camera is nice, depends on your budget. Formats that are easy to edit are HDV, DVCProHD (P2) and XDCAM. In the consumer range you could look at the Canon HV40 or XH-A1s, in the prosumer range look at the Panasonic AG-HPX170, Canon XH-H1s, JVC GY-ND250 or Sony HVR Z5 or Z7 and all Sony XDCAM cameras, especially the EX1 and EX3. In the professional range look at the Sony PDW-F355 or upward.

When you click on the TUNER link, it launches the itunes store and says this app is not available in the U.S. huh? not fun! I have half a dozen friends that are excited to try it out. I'm glad I got it while I could too. I wonder what triggered the removal?

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "settings". Do you mean, what data can the Health app collect? It collects the data from the motion co-processor built into the phone. That could be cycling, steps or running.

If the app is no longer in the store then you won't be able to redownload it. You don't have a copy of it in your computer's iTunes library or on your backup of your downloads/library so that you can sync it back to your phone ?
