What operating system does my Kindle Fire use?

I really wish retailers would tell people this BEFORE they buy a Kindle:
It's Android and there is, unfortunately no Flash Player for it
Adobe stopped ALL development of Flash for Android last year.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
There are older versions of Flash Player (for Android) at that link, but there are no guarantees any of them will work.
    See also: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1061194
I've read a lot about "Dolphin" for Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser
I'm not an Android user (no tablet or phone) so I can't make any endorsements that would hold any credibility, but most of the Flash solutions I've read point to Dolphin as the best alternative.
Check the Android forums: http://androidforums.com/ to see what their "gurus" recommend.

  • What Operating systems does Teststand 1.01 require

Can anyone tell me what operating systems does Teststand 1.01 support

    Hi paddyone,
Wow, that goes back a few years...
From the MS-Windows point of view, I think that Win-95 & Win-98 were supported.
It may work with later Windows versions as well.
Have a look at the registration card.  I work with ver 3.1 at the moment, and the info says:
    "Windows 2000/NT/ME/9X"..  although I use Win-XP..
I think there are older machines running ver 1.x, and they are still Win-98 machines..
    Hope this helps,
    JLV

  • What Operating Systems does...

What Operating Systems does java run on ? I have been looking about for some sort of list but couldnt find one. It is just out of interest.
Does anyone have any idea ?
    Thanks :)

    just kidding
java is platform independent, meaning compiled once,
runs everywhereJava runs where there's a JVM available. That's the practical limit to anywhere. You also must make sure all the JDK's you've used are available. For example if you have used Java3D it will limit you to just a fraction of the otherwise available platforms.
This is a list of platforms where SWT (an alternative to Swing) is available. So Java is available on these platforms and maybe a few odd more,
    Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
    Linux (x86/Motif)
    Linux (x86/GTK 2)
    Solaris 8 (SPARC/Motif)
    QNX (x86/Photon)
    AIX (PPC/Motif)
    HP-UX (HP9000/Motif)
    Mac OSX (Mac/Carbon)

  • Does Photoshop Elements use the GPU?

I cannot find a difinitive statement as to whether Photoshop Elements uses the GPU or not. I am about to buy a new computer and I am trying to determine if I should spend the money to get a higher end graphics card or not. The two options in the computer I am looking at are the Nvidia Quadro K1000M and K2000M, both with 2Gb. The K2000M is $250 more and I need to decide if it will provide better performance with Elements. Thanks.

Some software use the computer’s GPU (addition to or in place of the CPU) in order to complete its given task in a shorter period of time. Photoshop is an example of one of these applications; it uses the GPU instead of the CPU to complete its tasks faster. 3DS Max is another example. It uses all available cores to render faster.
Now you might be thinking those all have to do with graphics... Well... Doesn’t imovie have to do with graphics, too? I mean utilizing the GPU to encode video is a good idea IMO. Even if you don’t associate iMovie with graphics, and somehow think it’s impossible for it to ever take advantage of a GPU, what about the other software that’s completely unrelated to graphics and video encoding? The legality or intentions of the software is questionable... (ie wireless network auditing) But regardless, it still takes advantage of the GPU to accelerate its tasks to incredible speeds. If stuff like that can do it, why can’t a program designed for processing video do it?
Anyway, I won’t be able to tell you if adobe makes NTSC discs or not. I already have toast 10 which I just discovered it burns NTSC DVD discs and even Blu Ray video discs without returning a demuxing error every other video. And to think it was only useful for burning data discs. It doesn’t use the GPU either, but it seems to encode DVD video considerably faster than iDVD.

  • What operating system version are you using ?

For the last few weeks I have been using v5.0.0.592
Very impressed with it I must say

As to the issue with the duration of the adjustment layer, it's initial duration is defined by the Still Image Default Duration setting on the General tab of the Preferences dialog. If that's set to 1 Frame, then you can address this by changing that setting and then creating a new adjustment layer. Or else you can add the short adjustment layer to your timeline and then trim it out to the desired duration. My preferred way to do so is to select the out point, park the playhead where you want to stretch it to, and press "E."

  • What security system does Comcast wifi use? WEP, WPA, ?

I'm having trouble getting an older Roku unit to connect to Comcast. Says it needs a password that's either 10 or 20 digits, but my Comcast is 16 digits. The Roku requires wireless B, and WEP or no security. Can I set up a guest SSID on the comcast with no security or use WEP?

I'm away right now but it's a gateway, meaning it's one box that serves as a router and wireless. Large box, about 10"X8"X2".

  • FAQ: What OS does Photoshop Elements run on, or Will PSE run on my computer?

There are many different combinations of Photoshop Elements (PSE) and the Operating Systems (OS) it is supported on. Here is a table to help identify which versions of PSE are supported on which versions of Windows and Macintosh. By "supported", we mean that the application is designed and thoroughly tested to work on. Just because a platform is "unsupported" does not necessarily mean that it will not work. What it does mean is that you operate the application on that platform at your own risk. In most cases, a version of PSE is "unsupported" on a specific platform simply because it was released before that version of the OS.
The minimum system requirements (including supported platforms) for the current version of Photoshop Elements can be found here: http://www.adobe.com/sea/products/photoshop-elements/tech-specs.html

Starting with version 10.7, Rosetta was discontinued, PowerPC-based applications no longer operate on this or later versions.

For Premiere Elements System Requirements for versions 13 to 8 and the older versions, please see the Adobe Document

Regarding what versions will or will not work on certain operating systems...I would question even your Photoshop Elements FAQ reference.
What Adobe has not tested is not the same the impression that the program does not work on a certain operating system it has designated as " - ".
I have not seen a Premiere Elements document comparable to this FAQ document that you present for Photoshop Elements.
    I have found no problem installing and running Premiere Elements 4, 7, 8.0/8.0.1,  9.0/9.0.1, 10, 11, 12/12.1, 13/13.1 on Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 bit or Windows 8.1 64 bit.
The version updates, if available, should be used to give special obvious features as well as other less obvious ones.
In the case of the current version, Premiere Elements 13/13.1, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and OSX 10.7 are not supported. Interestingly, I have found that you can
download the Premiere Elements 13 tryout from Adobe to a Windows XP computer, but you cannot install it.
Also, on a comparative basis, Premiere Elements version 32 versus 64 bit application
    Windows
Premiere Elements 10, 11, 12, and 13 are 64 bit applications only when they are specifically on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit computer.
Premiere Elements earlier then 10 are 32 bit applications whether they are run on Windows 32 bit computer or Windows 64 bit computer.
    Mac
Premiere Elements 9 was the first version to be offered for Mac as well as Windows.
Premiere Elements Mac was not available as a 64 bit application until version 11 - and with Mac 64 processor.
    Miscellaneous
Premiere Elements as a 32 bit application will block you from importing still images beyond a certain total pixel count.
Lots of other details, but let us start with these.
Please let us know if you need clarification on any of the above.
