What os can i run on my MacPro3.1 that will allow me to use ProTools10?

Has anyone with the same machine (MacPro3.1 pre-hyperthreading) know what OS version will allow ProTools10 to run properly?

All I did was plug "ProTools 10" into Google + "Mac"

I had a belkin keyboard for my old iPad.  I have upgraded to an iPad air.  Can I get a new case that will allow me to use my old keyboard?  How?  Where?

You might look for generic cases. They're not as sturdy or durable as custom made ones - they tend to use elastic to hold in the iPad and keyboards - but that elastic does give them some flexibility.
Or see if Belkin has anything.
Or you may simply be out of luck with the compatibility. My Keyboard is in a case custom built for my 2 and I know whatever tablet I replace my iPad with I'll be getting a new keyboard as well because it most likely won't fit in a new case.

  • I am currently running OS X 10.5.8 on my MacBook (early 2008) and want to know if I can upgrade to a version that will allow me to use iCloud to sync with my new iPad?

I am currently running OS X 10.5.8 on my MacBook (early 2008) and want to know if I can upgrade to a version that will allow me to use iCloud to sync with my new iPad?

I believe to use iCloud you need to run at least Lion (10.7). (Only the Find My iPhone or Find My Mac parts of iCloud work with OS earlier than 10.7/Lion).
I think you can run Lion but you should check each of the following:
"To use Lion, make sure your computer has the following:
An Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
Mac OS X v10.6.6 or later to install via the Mac App Store (v10.6.8 recommended); you can install without Mac OS X v10.6 by using an OS X Lion USB Thumb Drive, available on the Apple Online Store
7 GB of available disk space
    2 GB of RAM
If your Mac does not meet these requirements, you will need to upgrade your Mac before installing Lion"
You have a Core 2 Duo. You can upgrade to 10.6 and then install Lion, or use the thumb drive approach mentioned above (thumb drive Lion costs about $70 I think). You need to check your RAM to see if you have enough.
Folks have reported that 4 GB RAM is really a minimum for a decent experience with Lion.
For Mountain Lion, see this ( http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5444 ) for what you need to have to install OS 10.8. I don't think you can use Mountain Lion (10.8) with your early 2008 Macbook.

    thanks!

Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
Whilst Apple have withdrawn Snow Leopard from their stores, you can still get it from Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE (if you are in the USA) and they will supply the SL DVD for $20 for a single user, or $30 for a family pack that covers up to 5 Macs.  You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion from the same number (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:
    http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
If you are outside the US call your national Apple Helpline:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
If you're in the UK, use this number: 0871 508 4400
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
To use iCloud you have to upgrade all the way to Mountain Lion:

  • Which software can i use for recovery management that will allow me to use DVD's instead of Flashdsk

which software can i use for recovery management that will allow me to use DVD's instead of Flashdisk? I find DVD's easier to use. i am using windows 10

As the other posters wrote in order to take a movie file and turn it into a DVD that can be played in standard DVD players you need a DVD authoring application. That you need a separate program to create the DVD is standard procedure and has been that way since the beginning. All Apple produce that can produce video files require an external authoring program. iMovie, iPhoto and Final Cut all do this.
One other thing I will comment on is your choice of output format. You will almost certainly be disappointed with the video quality of your finished DVD if you put a HD video on a SD DVD. Unless you plan to burn a bluray disk you will get a better quality video if you output as SD if you plan to burn to an SD disk.

  • HT1349 Many times I want to see a particular video, and my iPad will tell me I need flash. From what I have read apple software does not use flash. My question is what app can I purchase for my iPad that will make flash videos work?

Many times, while I am surfing through the Internet a particular web page will have a video, which requires Flash. iPads do not use Flash. So my question is, what app can I get from the app store will help me views these videos?

I did a quick search here and came up with a couple, the better of the two appears to be "Photon Flash Web Browser".
As with any app, read the reviews and decide for yourself. It may or may not work with the sites you need.

  • How can I creat a control button that will allow the vi to run?

Instead of pressing the run button, I want to creat my own run button that will allow my vi to run.
    Any idea?
    Thank you

First you need to set the VI to Run When Opened (VI Properties>Execution). Then you create a front panel Boolean. On the diagram what you need to do is have some sort of idle state where nothing is done until the Boolean is pressed. It could be a separate while loop that doesn't exit until the Boolean is pressed, an Event Structure, or as part of a state machine. Look at the shippings examples Queued Message Handler, New Event Handler, Using Buttons for Options to name just a few.

You cannot add regions on a page that uses a portal template.

  • Can I credit an index in Pages and if not is there a software I can open my pages document in that will allow me to create an index?

I have credit a book in Pages.  I would now like to create an index for the book.  I cannot see a way to do this.  If it cannot be done, is there a program through which I could open this Pages document and then create an index?

The Table of Contents will list particular paragraph styles, so create an "Index" style if need be and use that or anything else that works to style the text that you want to Index.
Then export the T.O.C. as text and reimport it to where you want it in the original file, getting rid of the temporary T.O.C.
The limitation is that the T.O.C. grabs entire paragraphs, so for practical purposes you will have to index only short heads, or do some manual stripping back to polish up the Index. Either way it is a start.

  • I want to use Boot Camp to run a tax program that will only use explorer. Whick windows program do I need to install in Boot Camp

I want to use Boot Camp and windows 7 or 8, preferrably 7 to run a tax program that will only let me use explorer.  I am using a Mac Book Pro with OSX Maverick 10.9.  There are so many windows programs out there it is confusing which one I need.  I don't think that I will need Office.

I would use Windows 7 any full version except the trial, or a branded Dell, HP, etc. versions

Be careful of the Verbatim 16 X DVD-R. I just made 14 Coasters before I got the correct answer from Pioneer who supplied the DVD 104 Super Drive on my Mac even though I installed an A227 firmware update.
They will not burn reliably on my g-4 mac when running Mac OS 10.4.5. I can not burn these DVDs using Toast 7.02.
I have no problem with HP 8X DVD-RW or DVD-R though.
I checked with Pioneer on this and they were helpful explaining the inability of that drive to handle that disk with the present firmware version.

What is the latest update available for Mac OSX 10.5.8 that will allow me to get the latest update for iTunes.  I really need to update my iPhone and CAN'T!!  GRRRR!!!

Minimally you need Snow Leopard or greater:
Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard — Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service — this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion — System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
