What OSX does suit better for PowerBook G4 17"?

I have 2 partitions, both as StartUp Disks with Leopard 10.5.8 OSX.
Can you please tell me what OSX is better for my Mac? Leopard or Tiger?
I never tried the last, 'cos I bought this laptop a second-hand with Leopard on it already.
So, I'd like to know more what of the OS is better for Powerbook G4 (concerning productivity, speed, usability etc.)?
Here's my Hard Ware Overview:
Hardware Overview:
      Model Name: PowerBook G4 17"
      Model Identifier: PowerBook5,9
      Processor Name: PowerPC G4 (1.5)
      Processor Speed: 1.67 GHz
      Number Of CPUs: 1
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
      Memory: 2 GB
      Bus Speed: 167 MHz
      Boot ROM Version: 4.9.5f3
      Serial Number (system): W8******SX0
      Hardware UUID: 00000000-0000-1000-8000-00145122650A
      Sudden Motion Sensor:
          State: Enabled
I'm asking, 'cos sometimes (especially now) the System really slow! Even writing this text is no really easy task to do!
Productivity of the laptop harshly decreases! Launching applications, opening windows, writing text, opening tabs in a browser etc.

Make sure you use a 10.5.6 retail or older 10.5.4, 10.5.1, or 10.5.0 retail if installing 10.5.
Note that Mac will not boot into 9, and will lose access to Classic under the Mac OS X 10.5 boot.  For more on updating to 10.5 including the retail disc description, see this tip:

  • What ipad model is better for downloading books?

Hello, i want to buy an Ipad, but not 100% sure what ipad model is better for downloading books. i travel a lot and often find myself in the places where wi-fi is not reliable. Any tips are most welcome!

iPad Mini. Both iPads are fine for books, but the Mini is even more portable, and the page size is ideal of reading books. I've had both; the Mini is better, for me. If you have the chance, visit your local Apple Store and try out the units on display. Then, you can determine which is right for you.
If you read lots of emagazines, give the iPad Air a chance. The Air has a larger screen, and that means things will be less cramped. Apps like Flipboard perform well on both devices, but the Air is roomier and easier to navigate.

what country does this work for? no such caption as none on the paying option

As far as I am aware it works for all countries. You are following the instructions on that page exactly e.g. it's a new account that you are trying to create and you are selecting a free app in the store and clicking on 'create Apple id' when 'buying' it ?

  • What font does iTunes use for inserts??

I know it uses Lucida Grande for iTunes itself, but what font does it use when printing out a jewel case insert? I have a project that is a gift and want the fonts on the iTunes insert to match what I am putting together for the spines.

  • Why does Keynote Beta for PC suddenly stop, making all work in presentation unreadable?

Keynote Beta seemed to be working fine on my PC and could be seen on my iPad 2 for a while, but suddenly, the screen with all the pages created went away and an error message popped up saying the presentation could not be opened (said this on the iPad, too).  Very frustrating, as many hours of work went away.
Thought the problem might be too large files for the photos, so did the whole process again the following day with smaller photo files.  Same infuriating results at some point.  No explanation, can find no documentation, at sea.  Want to use the PC to assemble presentations as the photos are accessible there.  What to do?  Why does this happen?  Is there a maximum size for the presentation?   Hope this is going to the right forum or if not, that it will be redirected.  Also, how do I find this post an any answers.  I confess, I'm a complete newbie here.
    Thanks for any help, TC

Just an update, a workaround to this problem was to download the Keynote file to my Mac and save that copy of the document on my Mac, not in iCloud Drive. I have been able to work with the document just fine since then, with Keynote on my Mac. This just means doing without the syncing benefits of iCloud Drive. Seems this problem was more with iCloud Drive itself than with Keynote.
iCloud Drive did have the most recent, up-to-the-minute copy of my work online when I visited it via the web. I was able to work with the file with the Keynote beta program in the web browser, but that program is missing some of the features of the desktop version.
The original problem of the file becoming unreadable has been solved by this workaround. But it is still a bug. I reported it through Apple feedback and hope they will fix this.

  • Adobe, what you doing, no CS6 for XP?

The performance while you are using softwares like Illustrator, Photoshop and a 3D software like Maya together, Windows XP 64 "KILLS" the Windows 7 64, I've a computer i7 960 with 24GB ram, in my Windows XP 64 SP2, and yes, I'm using them all, fast and stable. I used the Seven at work once, that was so horrible, disappointing and even traumatizing, and the computer settings was really powerfull. Please Adobe, stop this madness, still a least one more release for XP users, is not me, but millions of people wish that too!
Just a little comparison, this test was made for push CPUs usage in dual or quad cores processes, and guess what:
In fact the results were surprising because the operating system many people's favorite, the Windows XP managed to get ahead in all tests, with a processing performance better with dual core chips and a scale of approximately 19% in a quad-core versus Windows Vista. Since Windows 7 yielded almost the same as Vista and it was even worse in some tests.
Please, consider a least the Windows XP 64 SP2. For work, there is no other like it.

So odd, almost 1/3 of population still using XP, and you say "not indicative of the greater population". Please man, Adobe make apps even for Android and iOS but cannot make run in XP anymore, running Ps for kidding in tablet, thats way to go!!!
What is currently running in XP64 SP2:
Adobe Ai CS5.5 fast & smoothly
Adobe Ps CS5.5 fast & smoothly
Adobe Br CS5.5 fast & smoothly
    Autodesk Maya 2012 - fast & smoothly
    Autodesk 3DSmax 2012 - fast & smoothly
Autodesk SketchBook Pro 2011 - fast & smoothly
Autodesk SketchBook Designer 2012 - fast & smoothly
Autodesk Alias 2012 - All packages - fast & smoothly
    Autodesk MotionBuilder 2012 - fast & smoothly
Pixologic Zbrush 4 - all plugins - fast & smoothly
The Foundry NukeX 6.3 - fast & smoothly
    E-on Vue10 - fast & smoothly
    And many, many others...
And some of this apps are running in Linux too.
You wanna swallow up the W7, I prefer wait for a real XP substitute, I hope that W8 be this guy.

  • HAVE A MACBOOK PRO 2006 WITH NO OPERATING SYSTEM ON IT  WHAT OSX DO I NEED FOR A FRESH INSTALL

I had to install new hhd and have no luck w/reinstall disc, so I believe I need retail disc does it matter what version of osx I use?

There were numerous MacBook Pros released in 2006. http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/index-macbookpro.html
The earliest came with OS 10.4.5 installed, but the max is OS 10.6.x.  The last came with OS 10.4.8 installed, but the max is OS 10.7.x.
If you are able to get the original install discs from Apple, you should probably upgrade to OS 10.6.x or 10.7.x.
     Cheers, Tom

  • What file format is better for Print medium eps or ai?

    Hi All,
I was hoping that you all could help me.  My final output is imported into InDesign and printed either by an offset printer or conventional plate and ink printing. For over 15 years I have been saving my files as eps files. The best file type at the time for this purpose.  However, now I have been hearing a lot of buzz that the eps file is old school and the now a file should be saved as an ai file even for printing. My files are mainly graphs and charts but they have to be high quality.
My question is is that true.  Is saving as an ai file now better even when the output is printed.  Will it cause anymore problems?  Will the output quality be as high?  Does it matter which version I am using?  Right now I am using CS4?  Would it work in CS3 as well?  Is there anything that I have to look out for?
I do like the fact that the ai file can be opened in a reader.
I would really appreaciate your feedback.
    Thanks,
    Carolyn

As long as it's being imported to InDesign, PDF is generally more versatile.
Understand: when you import an AI file into InDesign, you are not importing native AI content; you are importing PDF. That's why you have to use the "PDF Compatibility" option when saving the AI file. That option embeds another complete version of the file as PDF content.
To see this, simply try to place an AI file which was not saved with the "PDF Compatibility" option into InDesign. You'll get an error.
That's why you can also simply Save As or Save A Copy as PDF and leave off the "Illustrator Editibility" option. The AI content is ignored by InDesign anyway.
PDF is not more universally supported than EPS. EPS is still needed by many non-PostScript programs. Microsoft Word, for example, cannot place a PDF file as a spot graphic on Windows--probably the most common scenario when providing graphics to business clients for internal use. EPS is also understood by many other programs in other environments and industries. For example, there's still a whole world of sign shops using cutting software which can open an EPS, but cannot open a PDF.

  • HT1338 What Interface does Apple recommend for Garage Band as the D.A.W. ?

I Have a Line 6 Toneport UX-2. It does not work with my new MacBook Pro.I need to know what the Experts recommend I use as an Interface for Vocals,Guitar and Bass. I'm very excited about GarageBand and need a way "Into" my Computer..Thank you .GuitarGordy.

I use The Apogee Duet. It's a wonderful interface..straightforward, clean, and solid. They make an eight track model, The Apogee Ensemble. It's quite expensive, but if you shop around perhaps you could find a deal on it. It would be over your budget, but it's worth considering.
Here's a link to it on Musician's Friend:

  • What file does ipod use for library and how do i access it?

    Hi.
I almost put this in the ipod discussion but the question has to do with itunes as well...
I have learned that itunes uses an xml file for the library, containing all song information and playlists (not sure about id3 tags for .wav, mp3) but when i looked at my data for the ipod i found no .xml files.
Heres what happened and why i need this:
unplugged the ipod after an osx reboot to winxp bootcamp hung. then i noticed the ipod was erased (or so i thought)
Couldn't access any of the data on the ipod and hadnt a spare 80 gigs to back up my ipod.
I didn't give up and after trying so many data recovery programs i got one to work and now i have what looks like all the songs back - with song titles and filenames - on my comp.
I want my library back too. I want my hard wrought playlists and i want to know what songs i may be missing; I need to rebuild my 'library'.
with the data i retrieved there is a folder called root, and if you follow and go to ipod control>Itunes there are a bunch of temp files and a large file called ipodcontrol and a couple files called playlist but those two were umm, empty. I dont know what any of this stuff is but if i knew how the ipod makes its library that would be a start in seeing if i can somehow get the library back. I know there is a way. I also am sure there are tons of people out there whose tracks have been erased after an auto update or unplug. You can get your music back! It would be so sweet to figure out how to reconstruct the library file too.

I forgot to mention that for you people who have inadvertently erased your ipods, the data recovery program that worked the best for me was called R-Studio.
So anyone know what file ipod uses for its internal library?

  • What exactly does AppleCare cover for an iPhone4S?

I purchased AppleCare when I bought my iPhone 4s Last December (2011). I am wondering, what does this plan actually cover, when is it possible to get a new phone (for free? or less price)?

when is it possible to get a new phone (for free? or less price)?
Never, if by that you mean a newer model. AppleCare covers manufacturing defects, just as the original warranty did, so if your iPhone has a hardware problem during the AppleCare period, Apple will replace it with another unit of the same model and configuration.
    Regards.

  • What app does Apple recommend for creating pocasts?

I need to be able to add the EXPLICIT tag too.
Now that Garageband doesn't support podcasting, what Apple program does?

Apple doesn't recommend anything. GarageBand can make mp3 files for you but I understand it no longer handles 'enhanced' M4a podcasts with chapters - in any case it used to hand over to the now unsupported iWeb to make the actual podcast feed.
There are a number of programs and services you can use - WordPress is powerful and flexible but is complex and get more people into problems than anything else in these forums. Bogger, Podbean and SquareSpace are easier; Libsyn is well supported but does have a running cost. Some website creation programs such as RapidWeaver can make a podcast feed for you. I can't recommend anything myself - when I was running my podcast I used Podcast Maker but it's not been updated for ages and Iget you understand it doesn't play well with Mountain Lion and up.

  • What Unbreakable Linux is better for 10g?

Dear members, what linux should I to install for Oracle Database 10.2.0.3?
Is the Unbreakable Linux 5 is complete "blessed" for using with 10g or it better to get OEL 4 update 5?
    Thanks for your answers.

Thank you for your reply, do you know why it's now not possible to get subscribtion for OEL5 ? .. The Enterprise Linux subscribtion is avalable only for OEL4 update 5 "..get 24x7 access to a year worth of patches, fixes, and security alerts for Enterprise Linux 4 and Enterprise Linux 3.." that's what I see in Product Details. Or it's possible that this subscrition is suitable for OEL5 too?
