What other program do I need with Firefox 4?
Sincerely,
Barry Karas

You operating system already supports Firefox 4.0.1, so you don't need to install anything else.
Update via '''Help '''| '''Check For Updates'''.
You do however need to update Flash via http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
The version you have installed at the moment is a security risk. See http://www.adobe.com/support/security/advisories/apsa11-02.html

better privacy does not work with windows vista home prem. what other program removes LSO'S AND HOW can I stop trackers? edit
    Details

As a temporary workaround, I believe this Adobe management page allows you to clear your "Flash cookies": [http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html Adobe - Flash Player : Settings Manager - Website Storage Settings panel] (hosted on macromedia.com -- Macromedia was the original developer of Flash).
Regarding the script error, if I'm reading the script correctly, it is related to accessing your Flash cookies directory. It seems the publisher's support forum is not currently available for searching, but that might be a good next step.
In the meantime, could you check whether the script has the correct location for your Flash cookies directory? If you can't access Tool > BetterPrivacy, you could check here:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''bpr''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) There should be a bolded setting named '''extensions.bprivacy.DataDir''' which looks approximately like the following:
    C:\Users\''yourWindowsUsername''\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia
Do you have a similar value? If you paste the path used by BetterPrivacy into a Windows Explorer window, does it open? Also, click a couple levels in the folder, can you see:
    Flash Player \ #SharedObjects
If the value is wrong, right-click the wrong value and choose Reset. BetterPrivacy should update the value the next time you try to access it.
If the value is blank, you could try inserting a sensible value and see whether that helps.
    Any luck?

What adobe program do I need to be able to have a pdf printer?

    Hi Acctgdm,
You probably go ahead and buy Acrobat Professional or standard (perpetual product ) or you can subcribe to our subscription for Adobe Create PDF.
Both the options are available for you to have the PDF printer accessibilty,
You can go ahead and purchase the product either online on www.adobe.com or you can get in touch with our sales team on 800-585-0774.

  • URLs clicked in other programs won't load in Firefox

Just within the last 1-3 weeks (?) or so, I find that I can't click on links in other programs and have the URL load in Firefox, which is my default browser. They always used to load perfectly and switch me to the new tab in FF, but now they don't.
At first I tried disabling a couple of recent FF add-ons one at a time to see if one of them might have been the problem, but that didn't seem to solve it, though I may have missed one. Still, I can't imagine how an unrelated add-on could cause URLs not to load from other programs. I have tried loading URLs by clicking on them in Thunderbird, WordPad, MailWasher Pro, and even Libre Office, but all of them either just twitched the screen for an instant and then stopped, or else gave me a message such as "WordPad was unable to open the URL" or "There was a problem sending the command to the program" (Libre Office). However, when I copy and paste those same URLs into FF and hit Enter, those sites load perfectly.
I may be wrong in this, but it appears that something has changed within FF that now prevents links clicked in other programs from loading. My only other thought at the moment is that this '''may''' possibly have started about the time I upgraded from FF 10.0.2 to FF 11.0.1, but I have no firm evidence to support that theory.
This is really an annoying and inconvenient problem, so any help in resolving it will be hugely appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Al

The problem is fixed now as a result of some help I got on the WindowsSecrets forum. Once I realized that the problem was occurring not just with MWP and Thunderbird, but with other programs as well (I tried WordPad and Libre Office, both of which likewise failed to load the URL into Firefox), I posted the question on other forums, trying to see if others knew anything about this issue. I got the answer from a forum member on this page:
    http://windowssecrets.com/forums/showthread.php/145441-URLs-clicked-in-other-programs-won-t-load-in-Firefox?p=847784#post847784
In case you're not a member there or can't load that page, here was his suggestion:
With FF closed type %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ in the start menu search box, click the item that appears and delete localstore.rdf FF will replace it on starting.
I did that and all four programs that had previous problems loading URLs, including MWP, now load them perfectly. The only (minor) problem with this solution was that localstore.rdf apparently stores all the info about such things as the Firefox toolbars and their customisation, so all that was lost when I deleted the file, but I got them re-customised fairly quickly and all is well. Any thoughts regarding what localstore.rdf does, why this problem happened, or how to prevent it from happening again will be appreciated.
I hope this info helps. Thanks again for all your help.
    Regards,
    Al

You need Illustrator to open .ai files. That is, if you want to edit them.
If you just need to place them, then tell us what you want to do with the files.

What other programs are for Finale Cut Pro?
    Like added transisions and such.

Start out here where you'll find tons of top quality FREE plugins made by some very creative folks.
    http://www.fcp.co/forum/9-free-fcpx-plugins-and-templates
The only "must-have" plugins I'd recommd are "Slice X" by CoreMelt, and "Nattress Levels & Curves" from Noise Industries (FX Factory).
Everything else is just eye candy.
I advise my students to not buy plugin until you actually need them for a paying job, and have that work pay for it.

  • Links from other programs won't open in Firefox

This has been asked a number of times before, but none of the answers worked for me. I have Firefox 26.0 (the most stable for me) and Thunderbird 24.6.0. After a computer crash and reloading both programs, I first noticed the problem with links from Thunderbird, both clicking and right clicking with "open in browser". But then I remembered trying to open help in MS word and Frontpage which are supposed to open from the internet.
I have checked that Firefox is the default browser, changed the file (none) file transfer protocol, then deleted it, etc. Nothing helps.

I now have FireFox 32.0.2 no joy. I have loaded ThunderBrowse which took care of Thunderbird but still can't load links from other programs. I fixed this before (other backups, I crashed my windows C drive and have been trying to restore), but can't remember how. I think it required reloading IE (I had deleted IE on my latest restore), but I have now done that with no joy.
When I click on a link from another program, nothing happens, and when I right click and am offered "open in browser" nothing happens, and when offered " copy browser link" it doesn't copy.
I tried resetting FireFox, no joy.
Noticed control panel "set program access" doesn't hold, always goes back to custom, and defaults to "uses default browser"!
    Please help!

  • How to tell what other program is using webcam?

    Hello,
My in-laws sometimes (maybe 20% of the time) get a message that says that the webcam is already in use by another program when they try to video chat with us. The message is in Danish and says something like "Webcamaret bruges af et andet program". They haven't started any other program. iChat shows a green camera icon on both their buddy list and on our remote system's buddy list.
Restarting or stopping iChat and disconnecting/reconnecting their webcam always seems to fix the problem, but I'd like to understand how to fix once and for all. Restarting is time consuming and rather disruptive for them and reseating the webcam is difficult for them physically to do.
They have a Mac Mini Intel 1.66 Core Duo. I recently switched out their firewire-based iSight with a USB-based Logitech Quickcam Vision Pro for Mac. They had the same problem with both, but they don't have the iSight any longer to try it again.
They are half-way across the world, and not tech-savvy, so resetting the PMU won't be possible.
I've looked through their Console logs, but don't even see any error message when it occurs.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
    David

    Hi,
Have them check in System Preferences > Accounts > (The Logged in account) > Login Items.
This is a list of the apps and utilities that start up when the Mac does.
(iTunes Helper is a common one that most people have).
This is one common cause of another app having access the the camera.
Look for iMovie, Photo Booth, Any System or iChat Add-On relating to Camera and camera tweaks, Any Software for the Logitech (It should not need to be started up at computer Launch)
Comic Book if bundled with their Mac.
Also check this list EZ Jim's Work
I would also get them to Check the System Profiler and then use the reveal Triangles to see Hardware > USB
If you have another way to login in to their computer other than iChat Screen Sharing then you could run this in Terminal
    /Applications/iChat.app/Contents/MacOS/iChat -errorLogLevel 7
    With iChat Shut down:-
Copy and Paste the Bold Text into Terminal and then hit the Enter key.
This will start iChat and Create Log in Terminal.
When the Buddy List has finished Loading Quit iChat in the Normal Way.
Copy the whole Log up to that point and paste it into TextEdit and send it to your self.
If you read through it, it should list two Cameras:-
    1) the External (Or any Internal iSight for other reading this)
    2) A software one ready for iChat Screen Sharing.
If the Regular one lists a Count less than 0 (zero) then iChat is having a job reading the Hardware state.
If this is the case then you could try deleting com.apple.iChat.plist from their Home Folder/Library/Preferences (Just drag it to the Trash)
iChat will need to be restarted where it will rewrite that .plist after checking the System again.
    NOTE:-
This does lose all the other settings they have changed from Defaults in the iChat Preferences except the Accounts pane. (Saved Transcripts, Font choices, IM colours etc)
Are they using their Web Browser to Chat on Flash Based or the Google Mail Web Chat page ?
If that Tab or Window is still open (if they are still in a "Room") the camera will be "held" by the web Browser.
If they do use this method and it is Flash check they have not ticked the "Remember" button to Allow access each time they use that Chat site (I am not sure if the Google Chat Plug-in has a similar "Allow" Pop Up).
FaceTime for the Mac (The Beta) can in fact use the camera at the same time as iChat. It does not seem to matter which application is launched first.
Resetting the SMC on the Mac Mini is not invasive
Resetting the SMC for Mac Pro, Intel-based iMac, Intel-based Mac mini, or Intel-based Xserve
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Unplug the computer's power cord.
    3. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    4. Release the power button.
    5. Attach the computers power cable.
    6. Press the power button to turn on the computer.
See the third Expandable link in this Article (Near the bottom)
In most cases it can be just that the System has flagged somewhere that it thinks the camera is in use when in fact nothing is.
A PRAM reset may sort it but the SMC reset is more certain.
    A PRAM reset.
    Shut down the computer.
Restart it holding down Apple/CMD (or ⌘)+ALT PR Keys until you have heard three Start Up Bongs.
    Hope this helps.

If you see that poop-up while visiting websites then that is most likely a simulation that is downloaded from internet and not showing a scan done on your computer.<br />
The intend of such a pop-up is to get you to buy their software and you should never respond to such an alert or you will be infected by malware.
Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.<br />

  • How do I get rid of a program that loads up with Firefox on the start page?

Firefox 10 was just installed. On the left side of the start page and MP3-Download page barged in. I tried everything I know, including windows restore, but it comes back. I suspect it is a flavicon but do not know.

To back up your bookmarks press Ctrl+Shift+B and find the "Import and Backup" option at the top of the window that appeared. It will give you the option to save your bookmarks as a json file. Keep that file you create and you can reload your bookmarks on any computer that uses Firefox. Be sure to put it somewhere safe so that it does not get lost during the system format and reinstall.
However before you go tossing the whole install out the window you can try some 3rd party programs that may be able to remove the problem. I would begin with Malwarebytes AnitMalware, they offer a free scanner that can find most anything thing that you picked up via the internet. It's freeware, but its real time protection is disabled unless you buy it. You only need the manual scanner really. The next tool to use would be CCleaner, this one program has saved me so much headache in the past. With it you can effectively clean up the mess caused by having your PC connected to the internet. Just make sure you check CCleaners scanning option to make sure that all the Firefox scanning options are checked, as well as any caches. This is where the kind of junk your reporting likes to hide anyway. It would also be a good idea to check your add/remove programs (can be done inside ccleaner as well) for any toolbars or search assistance junk that has installed itself like a program. They go by many different names and usually have some goofy name like Zongo Media and the like. If you have already tried all that and more and the problem still persists then it may very will be time for a good ole formatting and reinstall.
    Best of Luck!
