I recently updated all of the computers in the house to itunes 11. Now when we try to import songs from homesharing, we are unable to. What happened to the conveniently located "import song" button on the old version of itunes. Please help an old mother out please!

solved the issue today. first sync with itunes, so all the stiff you bought on the mobile will be backuped.
1. uncheck sync music in itunes and sync. all the music will be erased from mobile device
2. check music player on the mobile device. just the unwanted songs will still be there
3. go on the iphone to settings, general, usage, music player. there is just a few mb from the remaining unwanted songs. swipeleft and erase the content. switch iphone off and on again
4. repeat step 2. there will be no data. otherwise repeat step 3
5. check sync music in itunes and sync. all the music will be back again but not the unwanted songs. -

What folder are the plugins located in
I just downloaded the trial version of ProEXR and dragged the plugin to the folder suggested in the instructions and it is not loading into photoshop cc 2014.

Your files must be in 32 bit mode and you must have the proper version 32 or 64 bit depending on whether you are using 32 or 64 bit Photoshop. Under File > Open it should be under File Formats.

Spotlight lists items and shows preview images. BUT what about showing the path/location address of an item in my computer.
Especially important if I've put the item in the wrong folder and what to locate it without multi-steps. iMac OS X 10.5 was more useful.
Old OSX Spotlight function automatically displayed path/location within the machine: e.g. desktop/folder/sub-folder/item.
Can I make Spotlight show the path?Press option-command and the path is displayed at the bottom of the little preview window. Press command-return and the enclosing folder opens.

Solaris 10 include files? what package?
Two parts to this...
1. I downloaded the Solaris 10 8/07 CDs and burned them. I started installing and when it asked for CD3 and CD4, and I inserted them, the % meter jumped from 1 to 100 and it appeared that nothing was installed from those two. I selected "Everything" or "All" or whatever from the package selection screen. I was in text mode if this matters.
2. Main question: what package contains the /usr/include/ *.h files? I've got gcc installed and working but I can't compile anything. What SUNW* package are these in?At a minimum, SUNWhea. But other packages may be necessary as well.

How to find upgradable packages in the system?
After each `pacman -Sy' synchronization, is there a easy way to find out what packages in the system are upgradable?
Doing a
pacman -Syu
will sync up with the repositories and then upgrade all the packages on your computer that need upgrading. It will display all the packages that need upgrading and ask you if you want to upgrade them, so you can exit without upgrading if you change your mind.
Be sure to check out the pacman wiki and the wiki and forums if your unsure about programs in the future.

What happened to the tabs on top?
Anyone know what happened to the tabs located on the very top of the window like the last version 3. In version 4 tabs are back below the bookmarks bar. Tabs on top rocked, whats up with that?
Please refer to one of the many,many other threads in this forum on that topic. Tabs on top were only in the Safari 4 beta version, not Safari 3.

Please do not jump to conclusions and make assumptions here like 'when will people finally get it??'. I never said it was a benchmark. What I know is that on this individual system, from prior experience over many years when 3D acceleration is working glxgears gets between 300 and 400 fps. Yes, a Quake 3 timedemo (I have these numbers too and they very much correlate to glxgears performance for this system given just how slow it is) would be a benchmark but when it runs less than 0.1fps and even the 2D rendering means that navigating the menu is impossible, there just isn't the time to find out. Hence if playing around with drivers on this system I would use glxgears to check that 3D acceleration is working but not to benchmark. Glxinfo does not give you all this evidence.
But to clarify, I wouldn't use glxgears as a benchmark, benchmarking is different and I do a lot of that too. -
What is the "best" location for images?
2 Problems:
- IPhoto has developed many picture icons that are no longer pointing to the photo they once were, there is just a icon and no image, the file name is visible in the info pane of iPhoto. They are still represented by icons in iPhoto in the photos list and in the appropriate events however the pictures are apparently not where iPhoto thinks they should be.
- Understanding where photo files are located when brought into iPhoto. I have moved to importing all my photos via photostream, which I believe is supposed to download all photos into the iPhoto library, but appears to be downloading some into the downloads folder.
In the preferences/advanced tab I have selected "Importing: Copy items to the Iphoto Library"
It appears that my actual image files, some form my old version of iPhoto on and old computer, some from my iPhone that were downloaded directly and some via the iCloud photo stream are going to and are in different locations.
I believe it would be good to place all my image files in one location, that is visible to all applications and finder.
So for instance, if I need to find all the pictures of a car I want to sell on craigs list or attach them to an email, I can find them via a finder window without having to open and go through the iPhoto app. I had created many "Albums" to do this in iPhoto that had worked to achieve this.
A location like ...username/pictures/iPhoto Library/master/2013/car pictures/front.jpg
Opening and looking at pictures in my current version of iPhoto on my current Macbook;
I see some files in the iPhoto library are in appropriately named folders and with picture names, if I had given them a name and a folder (album) in iPhoto on old or new macbook.
Like: ...usernames/Pictures/iPhoto library/Masters/2006/Home/Kitchen.jpg
Others are in places like .../usernames/Documents/old macbook 867/Pictures/iPhoto library/Masters/2006/Home/Kitchen.jpg
Still others are in my current downloads folder
I have purchased iPhoto library manager and used the rebuild library feature. It did not resolve the problem.
I believe I will have to basically create a new iPhoto library by merging librarys and importing some pictures.
I would just like to keep as much of the organization, albums and organizing into events I have done as possible and not have to re do it all.
The location of photos iPhoto is NO longer referencing correctly and photos iPhoto IS still referencing correctly appears to be in several different places.
These locations have many photos that show up in iPhoto and are referenced correctly and some that have icons that are not referenced correctly.
1.) The ...username/downloads folder/... Contains many image files, mainy .jpg's some are from old computer and some are from new computer via iphone
2.) The ...username/documents/old macbook 867/pictures/iPhoto Library/... with appropriate folder and file names
3.) The ...username/documents/old macbook 867/pictures/...jpg Just folders with image files in them, not in a iPhoto library
4.) The ...username/Pictures/iPhoto Library/...
Any help on how to rebuild the library and keep pictures in the correct location would be appreciated.

If you click on a thumbnail and a different photo opens tehn Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your thumbnails - this may take seversl tries
If you click on a thumbnail and you get a ! then Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library daabase - this will not work if you have moved or deleted those photos using the finder or cleanup or tidy up software
In the preferences/advanced tab I have selected "Importing: Copy items to the Iphoto Library"

Assuming that you have a default managed library then all photos are in your iPHoto library - any that are not were not done by iPhoto but you the user or other sofware

However they are not accessable via the finer - Why? Because i{Photo replaces the finder for you photos and you NEVER access them using the finder - - this statement was one clue that you do not understand how iPhoto works and how to use it

So you either need to learn how to use iPhoto or switch to a different product - iPhoto does not work like you want - with iPhoto you do not directly access your photos and you can not control or change where they are stored

As the Other threads suggests I would check the Date and Time settings on the Mac and compare that with the settings in the router.
Messages (and iChat before that) send Time stamped info to Login and to send IMs.
Obviously most people set their Macs to their Time Zone and nearest city/town.
What people sometimes forget is that their Router/Modem device(s) have to be set correctly as well.

Also Add a Public DNS server to your System Preferences> Network > Advanced Button > DNS tab
A Google one such as 8.8.4.4 or 8.8.8.8 seem to work well for most people

It is beginning to shutdown with no warning more frequently. What can I do to locate the exact issue? My warranty has expired so I would like to get to the bottom of it without taking it in to an apple store.
I am currently learning how to do diagnostics on mac hardware but I am not a native mac user. It is unlikely that this is a software issue. Please, any input will be helpful.Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and
after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo).
4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo). -
