What paper and settings am I supposed to use?

I have a batch of Bright White inkjet paper left that I bought for my previous HP printer. This paper is from what I can tell still sold in Europe.
There is no profile for Bright White inkjet paper in the B210a, which I bought in Europe. The HP inkjet papers that have dedicated profiles in the B210a seem to be available only in the US and Canada. Only the photo papers have consistent branding and properties between markets.
What combination of European paper and US settings am I supposed to use for best quality on this printer? Should I import inkjet paper from the US while waiting for you to make the B210 drivers and printer firmware support the papers you sell in Europe?

Yes, there are programs that will put a movie on a DVD. I have tried most of the other substitutes including Toast, Burn, and others. None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD. IDVD is specifically designed to work with iMovie.
With iDVD you can easily and quickly create DVDs with menus and graphics almost on the level of what Hollywood can do.
IDVD is easy to get. It is available on disk as part of iLife 11.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.

which resolution are you using when you use your monitor? Is that resolution supported through the monitor’s VGA port? (You’d probably have better throughput by using an adapter for the HDMI port or DVI port instead.) When you say that the trackpad doesn’t work, does that mean that the cursor is not visible on the monitor, or that it physically does not work, such that clicks are not registered, &c.?

Where are my favorites, cookies, history and settings that were supposed to be transfered over upon install.

Thanks Jon for your response - at least I know I didn't misplace any parts while putting back together. I'm probably going to strip it down again though, it just doesn't make sense. I agree that they can be temperamental but my other QS which only has a 867mhz processor I put into a 2002 motherboard (the old board had issues, so I replaced it with the newer version) has really given no problems since I first assembled it all together almost 2 years ago. And although I haven't completely taken it apart again, I have used it to troubleshoot various pieces of RAM, video cards, etc without any problems. Yes, it's picky about what PCI card goes where, but would just having a different processor on a similar motherboard cause such a glitche? And actually the only glitche has been this RAM bank thing - which does come and go when I move the door, so I must have missed something else when assembling it.
After reading through a number of other posts, I shut down and did another PMU reset with a piece of known good RAM in the bank - but to no avail - it still sounded the bong as if it was going to start, then shut down. So I unplugged it and carefully copper-brushed out the bank and blew it out, then started up with a piece of RAM in the dissenting bank (but none in the middle bank), into Open Firmware doing a NVRAM reset according to the Apple document. I booted into the drive running Leopard, put it to sleep without any waking freeze, then rebooted into the Tiger hard drive which I normally prefer to work from (I don't really see the hype about Leopard - I don't find any benefits from using it - I find it picky and next to impossible to search files with, without a big drama and extra work). Anyway, that's where I am now - typing this - so far, so good, but it's worked okay for a short time before after re-seating the RAM in that bank - a sleep and a reboot will be the defining moment.

Printing questions on AIO 8500, choice of paper and settings..

so i recently purchased the officeje all-in-one 8500. i installed the printer and was going to use hp primium photo paper to test out some picture printing. but when it came time to choose what paper type it was, i couldn't find one that match perfectly.. there was 'Advance Photo Paper' that was not it, 'HP Photo Paper Matte'.. that was not it. 'HP Primium Inject Paper', that doesn't seem it. what do i choose?
my 2nd question is what is the best setting to use for best printing? i only try a couple sheets. i didn't want to waste ink trying every possible combination. but using 'Advance Photo Paper' and best setting, the picture turned out SUPER dark. print quality was great but everything, especially the dark colors, turned out super dark. using same paper, and 'normal' quality setting, the print quality was crap, but the color was more true to the actual picture color.
any help, suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

What Apps and Settings to Change to Maximize Battery Life

Hello - I have been reading many threads on different forums on ways to maximize battery life. Can someone provide a concise listing (such as what settings to change or which apps to install) to maximize the battery? Also didn't the latest update from Verizon say that it would make better use of the battery?
This way we could have all the steps in one place to make reference to.

i'll just give you my setings/options/details, as i believe i get as much out of the battery as i can get. fyi....i use the stock battery that came with the phone.
-i use NO battery saving apps (juice defender, etc). While they may help some, i just don't see the need for them.
-I use no app killer and don't try to "manage" the apps running in the background. i believe they do no good. i know others will disagree.
-my screen timeout is 30 seconds
-my screen display is 35% (i increase it sometimes during the day or outside to see better)
-i leave it on 3g for the most part. i turn on wifi if it's available and i'm going to be using data. i put it on LTE if i'm going to be streaming or downloading large files.
-i don't sync facebook, stock, or news. i sync email every 15 minutes, weather every 3 hours, and google is set to sync (docs, contacts, gmail, and calendar) although i don't know how often it does it? i also syn backup assistant every night.
-i have standalone gps and google location services on all of the time.
-i have the power saver enabled and is set to activate when i get to 15%
i use my device moderately. i hop on facebook, text a bit, make a few calls, download and play podcasts, and browse a bit during the day. i can get through a full day with one full charge on an average day. this entails about 2.5-3 hours of actual use and at least another 12-15 hours of idle time. on a good day i will get 20+ hours of idle time. the more i actually use it, the less idle time i will get. here's a screenshot of yesterday's stats. the "uptime" is the time i actually used the device (calls, apps, texts, etc). the "real uptime" is the amount of time that the device had been turned on since i unplugged it from the charger. i "bump charge" it daily. this is fully charging it (while the phone is on)....then turning it off and plugging it back in again. the light goes back to orange for another 10 minutes, and then goes green. so my phone is turned off every day, for about 10 minutes.
edit: i forgot to mention that i'm in an extremely solid network all day and this will have A LOT to do with your battery life. if your in a poor coverage area, your phone will struggle to get and hold a signal and that will strain the battery....and there's really nothing to do about that, short of moving...lol. but if live in a pretty good network area, then you can get a full day off of one charge (unless you're using it half the time your awake.....in which case no phone is going to help ya out..lol).

What SW and/or Drivers are needed to use my Samsung DVD+/-RW Imagewriter

Fresh install of OSX 10.3.9 on a PowerMac G4.
Added a Samsung SH-W162C 16x DVD±RW IDE Internal Drive.
I then installed the LaCie DiscRecording 1.21 drivers and the the following patch: LaCie DiscRecording Support 1.22 for Mac OS X 10.3.2 or later.
I then tried to burn an iMovie from iDVD and got the dreaded multiplex error.
Here is my question: Do I need to install Toast in order to burn DVDs or should OSX 10.3.9 allow me to burn DVDs from iDVD without Toast?

It might be the same thing as the LaCie "driver" but there is no real "driver". It is built into X and the X applications. Patchburn makes your mac think that just about any burner is an Apple branded Superburner. I don't know what the LaCie "driver" does.
Dual layer support will require Toast or Tiger. Panther does not have dual layer support. But if all you want to do is use imovie and single layer then you don't need Toast.

How can I sync my iPhone 4 with a new MacBook Pro without losing all my data and settings?

I used to sync my iPhone 4 with a PC running Windows XP until the hard drive died. Thankfully, I already had a backup of all my iTunes media (Songs, TV Shows, Movies, Podcasts, Apps, etc), so when I bought a new MacBook Pro, transferring my iTunes library was easy.
My problem now is that I want to sync my iPhone 4 with my new MacBook Pro without losing all the data and settings. I have already used iTunes to back it up and transfered my purchases onto the mac. I just need help to sync the iPhone with the Mac without losing app data, emails, contacts, settings.
Everytime I click on the tabs (to sync contacts, apps, music, et al), I get an error message that reads:
"Are you sure you want to sync apps? All existing apps and their data on the iPhone “Ryan's iPhone” will be replaced with apps from this iTunes library."
What do I do? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

File and settings transfer

I want to transfer files and settings from a MacMini Intel using Tiger 10. 4.11 to a new MacMini 2.53 with Snow Leopard. From what I understand the 'migration assitant' will do this for me the only problem being that the older Mini's Firewire port doesn't work.
What other method can I use esp for my settings?

you could clone the Tiger system to a USB drive using e.g. Carbon Copy Cloner.
when the SL Mac boots for the 1st time, you will be taken to the +setup assistant+. if the USB drive is connected, you can move your account etc. over at the time. or, you can use migration assistant at a later stage.

What instance number and config set number am I supposed to use for ODISRV?

I'm trying to get one way sync working from ADS to OID using the OID that comes with Collaboration Suite 10.1.2 on Windows. The sync works fine if I run it manually (I forget the command I used for that). I can see user accounts show up in the DIT. The problem is that the sync never happens on a scheduled basis and it looks like it is due to ODISRV not running even after I did what the docs said and attempted to start it. It started with no errors but I guess the log file contained all the actual errors.
The docs say to specify an instance number > 0 and a config set. Well, it's clear as mud as to which number to actually use. I assmed the configset value happened to match the nubmer in the Directory Manager GUI under the Integration Server entry (which was configset1 for me). I've tried to specify 1 2 and 3 for the instance numbers and I don't know what I'm supposed to use (and some of them are already being used so the command fails). How many instances are there running by default for ODISRV and how many for OID itself? What number should I be using based on that?
Here are some entries in my logs:
oidldap01s1304.log- OpName=search, duplicate while inserting in Hash Table.
My comment on that snippet is a duplicate what? and what the hell hash table is it trying to use? The info isn't helpful at all.
odisrv02.log- port 389/profile grp 999: registration failure, config set 1 already being executed by instance 0
odisrv01.log- port 636/profile default: config set 0 already being executed by instance 2.
oidmon.log - retry counts exceeded are listed for both odisrv01 and 02
In all those logs the those errors keep repeating. I don't need OID on port 636 so is there a way I can stop/delete that while I'm fixing the sync issue? I saw nothing in the OEM website that allowed me to remove the SSL configuration.
If I try stopping either instance 0 or 1 and try to restart I can't because the instance number is already used. What the hell am I supposed to do then? That means I can stop everything and not be able to start anything back up, does it not?
any ideas how to make sense of this mess oracle developed?

There are two configsets by default. Configset 1 is
for synchronization and Configset 0 is used by
provisioning (again, these are default settings).
You cannot have two odisrv (Provisioning and Synch)
with the same instance #.
So, instance 1 could be Provisioning and instance 2
could be Synch.
Have you setup your synchronization mapping files?

the last snippet).Well I was trying to use ConfigSet 1 for synchronization but it either wouldn't let me because of how it is designed or I had screwed it up at that point since I didn't know what numbers to use for anything and it prevented me from using Set1 because of that. I'm now trying to get SSO working between OID and ADS and it seems that OID is too stupid to know that a user exists. I log onto the Windows PC into the domain and attempt to go to http://ssoServer.com:7778/pls/portal and login and I get an authorization denied message.
I have debugging turned on as much as I can and the defaultIsland log file (forget the full filename but its an OC4J file in $ORACLE_HOME\opmn\logs directory). It says that I was denied access because the user could not be found and yet I see the user in the directory tree and it comes back in a search as well. The krbprinicipalname, uid, and orclcommonprinicipalname (I think that's what it's called) are all the same ([email protected]) and the orclusersearchbase is set to dc=mycompany,dc=com so I don't know why the account can't be found.
ANy ideas on that issue?
