What password did I use as my WEP key ?

Can I find out what password I have used for my WEP key ?
My router has been running for ages - so long in fact I know roughly what the password is, but not the exact order, capitalisation etc. My third party router won't help.
Can I extract it out of the Keychain using my admin password ?

if you go to the airport setup assistant, click continue, click change settings of existing airport base station, click continue, click on the airport base station your are trying to find, click continue, do not change any settings just click continue, and do not click update. on the left hand side there should be a button that says "show passwords" and it should give you both your WEP password and airport password (which is that password i an guessing you need).
hope this helps.

If youre not gettign any codes, dmesg or xev, turn of the computer switch to the PS/2 port youre using USB to connect the keyboard, USB hid driver hasnt got the functionality to give those extra keys scancodes and the devs dont seem willing to do anything about it...
Follow the wiki hotkyes instructions and you cant go wrong, someone posted link to them earlier.
Not wanting to sound rude, but if you had even bothered to read the thread you would have seen that the keys are working fine with xbindkeys, it's the process of autostarting xbindkeys with openbox that doesn't work.
However, I've now started using the built in keybind function in openbox, though for some reason I can't execute mpc commands (ie: mpc stop), it just won't work. Instead I have to use Sonata (ie: sonata stop), could the reason be that mpc outputs info while Sonata does not when you use those commands?
EDIT: It wasn't, I added the --no-status switch but it still won't work with mpc.
Actually i read every post in this thread before posting, sorry if came of sounding mean (sv:elak) or something. Thought you just wanted to know what apps ppl were using to get multimedia keys to work (alot of ppl seem to be having problems with this), didnt realize that you wanted help. Maybe choose a better title if you dont want too confuse ppl like me. Again sorry:)

  • What application do you use for extra/multimedia keys on the keyboard?

Just curious on what applications there are available for all these extra keys manufacturers keep placing on keyboards, thankfully my keyboard only has a few extra and they aren't in the way. I've been using LinEAK for a while now but it doesn't seem to be maintained any more so I was wondering if there are any better alternatives.

  • What font did Adobe use for the Layer names and context bar (OSX PS CS1)?

I have a problem with my Snow Leopard install. When I disabled the font protection of OSX, to install the full Helvetica Neue set (not just the limited DFont set in OSX), I damaged something. All text in Photoshop CS1 that is used in the input fields of the context bar, and for the names of layers, paths etc is wrong. As text is too big now, the program is harder to use.
What font is normally used in these locations? I need to know what files to put back.

    Things change.
Adobe changes things that don't really need changing so they can call it a new .0 version and sell it for a bunch of money.  They also change things to follow modern trends in UI design.
Sometimes, they want to push other tools to do some of the things Photoshop used to do.  This is so they can make even more money by selling more products!
Have you been through every intermediate version, or are you making a several version jump?  I ask because the total amount of change in each .0 version has been manageable.  And I personally feel the changes have been worth the money, though perhaps just barely.  That's the key in business.

  • What card did you use today?

Thought it would be fun to see what cards you are using and for what purchases. Today I went to Lowes and broke in my new Lowes card to purchase some items for a small project on my camper. It was nice seeing the instant 5% discount on the total purchase.

  • What Font Did I Use?

New to LiveType, only used it a few days. Quick question: how can I find out what font I used? I still have the project. I just can't tell what font name I used. I see the text in the Inspector, but if I select it an dlook at the fonts tab it doesn't highlight the font that I used. Any way to tell what was used? I'm new at this...
    Thanks,
    Scott

Highlight the text track and look in the Inspector > Text pane.

  • What software did they use to create the tutorials for creating a podcast?

I just downloaded the 8 tutorials that are posted on iTunes on how to create a podcast. What I am really looking for is what program they might have used to create those tutorials. The screen capture has some very nice features, like highlighting certain areas, dimming the background, voice and video capture, zooming into certain areas. I don't think it is Snapz but I could be corrected.

    Hey thanks for answering.
The tutorials show how to use Garageband and are really quite nice. What I am after though is the software they might have used to create those tutorials.
Go to iTunes > music store > podcasts and type in "learn to podcast" it will be the top choice. And look at one of them, very nice creen capture functionalities.
    Thanks, Frank

  • HT5154 What font did iCal use for entries?

Love it or hate it, I'm looking for the name of the font used in iCal up through 10.6 or so.  Any ideas?

I admit that this is the first time I've ever used iCal, but judging by the bizarre en dash, here – on 10.6.8 – it looks like Lucida Grande.

  • What program is apple using to make there website?

I was wondering (because I would like a website as powerful as apples and as easy to use as iweb). What Program did apple use to make there website and do you need multiple programs to do those things such as. the way buttons are animated not using flash, and the search function, and forums and store, etc.
Anyways, this aught to be an interesting discussion

There is really no way to know what Apple uses to build their site.
There is no reason why you can not make a good looking, fast site in iWeb. The only reason why your website may not look as nice is because you are probably not a professional website designer like the people behind Apple's site.
If your site is too slow consider reducing the number of images you use on your website, making sure your text is not converted to images, you switch to a real web hosting provider and not rely on MobileMe, and you run your iWeb website through a web site optimizer.

  • Airport WEP key problem

Ok, I'm running two Macs and two PC's. The macs are connecting fine to the Airport Express but the PC's are having a tough time.
My desktop uses a Linksys Wireless Adapter and asks for a 16 character key when Apple Express only asked for 13 characters when I was setting up the WEP key.
I called Linksys and they insisted the Airport Express had to be changed to a ASCII or something of that nature. Anyone has a clue?

Any computer that wants to join a WEP-protected AirPort network and doesn't have an AirPort or AirPort Extreme Card in it, whether it's a Mac/PC/Linux box, needs the hexadecimal equivalent of the Apple WEP password.
    To get it:
    - Run AirPort Admin Utility and connect to your base station.
    - Choose Base Station > Equivalent Network Password.
This will be the WEP key to enter on the PCs.

  • My WEP key don´t work with Apple Base Station Snow

    Hello.
I have an Airport Base Station Snow and two computers. One Apple iMac G5 and Apple PowerBook G4 667MHz. I have a new Nokia E65 and the phone can connect to internet using WLAN. I try to connect to my base station but I can´t enter because I enter my password (6 alphabetic password) and i receive an INVALID WEP KEY. How is this possible when I can connect with my two computers??...and others computers can enter too?....Anyone has this problem withan Nokia E65 and ABS Snow?

Try using the network equivalent password. See KB 106864, AirPort Extreme: Getting an equivalent network password.

  • My new smart TV recognizes my network, & asks, "Please enter you WEP keys (10 or 26 hex digits)" but my netwotk uses a password of 6 characters. How can I get my smart TV to connect to my network?

I have a current iMac with the latest OS update.
My new smart TV recognizes my network, & asks, “Please enter your WEP keys (10 or 26 hex digits).  My  Airport Express, an early model, only requires a password of less than 10 characters.
When I open “airport utility,”on my iMac it tells me this version doesn’t support my base station & says go to “Airport Service & Support.”  That’s what got me here.
My earlier MacBook runs OS 10.6.8. Its version of  Airport Utility works. Its Airport ID has 17 characters, & uses the same password to access the internet, but it also has a “wireless password” of 26 characters, but only shows me the dots. i haven’t the foggiest notion  what the characters are, if I put them in there years ago when i did the original configuration, or if they got there otherwise..
I’m afraid of changing those settings for fear that I’l mess up the whole thing.
How can I get my smart TV to connect to my network, ?

Please check out the following AirPort User Tip on how to recover AirPort passwords.
