What Photoshop. Help Please
I have antiques shop and when taking pictures need a complete white back ground sometimes another colour. For instance if I take a picture of Chest of Drawers in a room , I do not want rest of room just Chest of Drawers or a vase on a table, I need just vase etc. Any help appreciated
For doing "knock outs," both Photoshop, and Photoshop Elements, will allow for that, via the techniques that JJMack mentioned. Both programs will allow for the creation of Masks, to accomplish that task. Both will also allow one to create a background, into which one can composite the image of the subject - the chest of drawers, in your example. One could also shoot a background, say a sheet of paper, with no subject, lit in a somewhat similar fashion to the subject, and then with either program, that subjet, with its Mask, could be composited into the image of that "background."
If that would be your primary use, then PsElements would cost a lot less, and probably (I have not actually used the Elements version) even offer some "big button" solutions, which would require a bit more "hand work," in Ps.

i noticed an effect on ADOBE TV that was done by Gareth Edwards in his movie MONSTERS which i thought would be good to try out in my film but i carnt get it right,,

in the video he say that he exports a still frame from after effects into photoshop and puts on his image {with a few tweaks her and there}, when hes got it ok in photoshop ,it some how updates in after effects??

If you are doing the same process to a static, locked off shot, with no foreground objects passing in front of your sign, it would be very possible to create a single frame in Photoshop and just layer it over your scene in AE. But once the camera moves, you will need to understand Motion Tracking. If objects pass in front of the replaced component, you will need to understand Masking. -
I need some photoshop help, please?
i am trying to make a .gif, but when ever i go to "File --> Import --> Video Frames to Layers" and select the video, the little video box thing is blank

oh yea, and i have Vista (in case that matters)OK, "AVI" is but a container - a "wrapper," if you will. An AVI can contain almost anything, and much of it cannot be used by Photoshop. See this ARTICLE for much more background. There are tips in that article on "peeking inside" the wrapper. Please let us know what is inside those files, and someone can likely help you.

Creative cloud/photoshop help please!
hi, i recently downloaded the trial of photoshop cs6 and it included creative cloud. today by accident i uninstalled photoshop and every time i go on the adobe website to download a freee version it opens up a box saying ''update creative cloud'' , everytime i try and update creative cloud it comes up with this message '' Another version of creative cloud desktop is currently running. to continue please quit that instance and click retry''
I have tried to uninstall creative cloud many times now but it wont let me, is there any way i can get photoshop back as i need it back asap.
Any help is much appreciated

You can open task manager (ctrl+alt+delete) and go to processes tab.
There you should look for the process named CreativeCloud.exe. Select this process and then click on 'End Process'.
You can try to install the update now.

BIg Problem - loss of sound, unable to reload drivers after reboot. Now what? HELP PLEASE!!!
HI,
Have been working on getting this resolved for the past 6-7 hours reading and trying different things to no avail. I have a Toshiba m305 s4829 from Best Buy thats only a few months old. It apparently has a conextant audio driver ('smart audio 221' according to devices), which isn't showing up (there is a red "x" over the speaker). When I scroll the mouse over that icon it says "No Audio Output Device Is Enabled". And when I go check out the Device Manager there is a hazard symbol under "SOUND, VIDEO & GAME CONTROLLERS".
Don't know if this is a registry issue, a BIOS issue, a Vista 64 issue, a problem with me downloading the wrong driver, or somehow screwing up the process of unpacking and installing it. Or if there is even some possible conflict that occured elsewhere.
for more info on any of those ideas:
-registry / bios - I don't want to mess with these unless I absolutely have to. I do have CC cleaner, superantispyware, and Avira antivirus installed and no viruses or spyware currently.
-wrong driver possibility - the first driver I tried was from the Toshiba "downloads" section for my model- its the second one down just issued on 12-02-08 ( http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=2060017&rpn=PSMDYU&modelFilter=M305D-S4829&selCategory=3&selFamily=1073768663&selModel=2060017|PSMDYU)
So that didn't work and I kept reading around and saw this (see http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=37703&tstart=0); whichpointed me towards trying this driver (http://www.mediafire.com/?mymmj2bkjfc) which didn't work either.
-in terms of how I installed it, I tried different ways. Read that if you simply uninstalled the driver and rebooted then it should automatically reinstall. Not for me. So I tried unistalling the old driver, rebooting, unpacking & installing the new driver & rebooting again. Nothing. I also tried installing it directly over the old driver that shows up, nothing.
-potential conflict?? I do have a lot of music programs on here both recording (cubase, audacity) archiving/ playing (Media Monkey, Itunes), and composing (sibellius 5). It was originally in audacity that I found out I couldn't play my freshly recorded song back.
Getting frustrated, especially on a new system like this!!! Please help, would like to get this solved without having to reformat as I have put a lot of time/ energy into getting all the programs on there and working properly (which they did up until now). I'm not sure about the recovery disks that came with and whether they would help, my understanding is that the latest drivers **SHOULD** be on toshibas website so recovery disks wouldn't be needed.
***A few other tidbits that may help you help me:
- in addition to no audio driver showing up in device manager, there is also a hazard sign showing that my imaging device driver for the computers camera has dissapeared;(Chicony USB 2.0 camera). What was I doing on this computer when it happened? Well, nothing - restarting it. An hour previous to that I was able to record a short rehearsal (hourish) on audicity (though audacity crashed and I had to uthe audacity reovery tool to get it back). I've never really used the camera, but ealier in the day my wife used it to try and take a picture for her facebook profile (which I don't think she was successful at).

We have had on several occurrences a situation where we (people in the office using the 941 phones) can hear the caller (or person we call outgoing), but they are unable to hear any sound from us. Rebooting the SPA400 has seemed to solve the problem. The problem has happened at least 5 times today, each time requiring a reset of the SPA400 before the external side of the party is able to hear us.
---try setting VAD to ON , set preffered coder to g711u on the spa400, don't forget the magic power cycle after saving settings. -
Hi guys, I have a question.
In 2008, and on a previous laptop, I purchased Photoshop via the Adobe website, and it was the full version. I have since bought a new laptop, and figured I could download it again from my account, as I felt as though I shouldn't have to re-buy the product again. However, after downloading it, I enter the serial number it came with, but insists it's a trial version, when it isn't.
Can anybody help? Do I seriously have to buy it again? It cost me $200, and it feels like a bit of a rip-off. :$If you purchased from Adobe as a download, your serial number should still be available as well from the Adobe store. If you've used up your 2 activations, because you didn't manually deactivate the software from machines you stopped using, you'll have to call Adobe customer service and explain your situation. They should allow you to activate the software on your new machine.
You purchased the full version of Photoshop for $200? At that price, direct from Adobe, it had to be an upgrade from a prior version. You'll need the prior version serial number in that case when installing as well.

I have PSE 6 for my imac and bought myself a NIKON D60 so far so good. I have installed PSE 6 which comes with ADOBE Bridge CS3
I have bought a book as well as I am new to photoshop and in fact DSLR cameras.
I have got my photos into Bridge OK by the way they are JPEG format. According to the book I can open the JPEG in camera RAW by either selecting the JPEG and then pressing cmd+R or by selecting the JPEG and select open with and camera RAW should be available to selct.
I cannot get of the options to work any ideas please
Secondly I have taken some photos in RAW format and put then into Bridge again I cannot get the camera RAW interface to open with these neff images.
If I try to open the image PSE 6 opens and gives me an error that the file format is not supported by PSE 6
Am I missing something here as I have been trying for a week now !!!!!

Chris UKThere's no "theory" about it. You should be able to open a raw file from bridge by double-clicking it, but it will open in ACR in PSE. You can't just use ACR within bridge in PSE, if that's what you're trying to do. To open a JPEG in ACR, go to file>Open in PSE and choose Camera raw as the format after you select the file but before you click Open.
If you've correctly updated ACR, bridge should show you thumbnails of your raw files. If it doesn't try emptying the Bridge cache. -
Troubleshooting: Help please. Creating a PDF file from a Photoshop-designed project
I wanted to add personal design elements to my resume so I decided to use Photoshop to add in a logo and a footer. The problem is, when I converted the 3 Photoshop .psd files (3 pages) to .pdf files, the combined file came out to be very big in size. The biggest was 2.88 MB and the smallest that I got it to be without compromising the quality of the text and images was 1.48 MB.
What did I do wrong?
I've seen other .pdf files with more images and more color and definitely more pages and text which were only 300KB in size. How can I make my final .pdf file size small but still retain the quality of the original design from Photoshop?
I've tried merging the layers before saving. I've tried turning the files into .gif files before making the pdf. Into jpegs before making the pdf. Changing the canvas and image sizes in Photoshop into super small which made the final pdf file unreadable and super blurry. I'm at my wit's end.
Details:
.psd image size 8.5 by 11 inches (normal resume size)
colors - black, gray, light blue and light yellow
Images are very minimal, 4 lines total and around 5 circles at the header of the first page and footer of the 3rd page.

I tried the indexed color option and it did make the final file smaller. Around 600KB. But there's probably another way to make it even smaller like the gazillion-paged pdf file that I mentioned that was only about 300KB.
And by saying a layout program, does that mean like Adobe InDesign? Does that mean that I should just make my graphics in Photoshop and then import using another program and finish the file there?
What other layout programs can I use?

Approx 8 years ago I purchased Photoshop CS2 online from Adobe. This past weekend I had to buy a new computer (Windows 8.1), and when I logged into my Adobe account just now to obtain my serial number and enter it after I attempted to download CS2, it said invalid serial number. Help please.

I have downloaded several books into ibooks. Started reading one and closed it when I was done reading for the day. Now I want to access other books and when I open ibooks it goes directly to that first book. It does not give me the shelf to choose what book I want to read - goes directly to the first book.
