What PORTS to open in the Environment

I want to setup two nodes RAC plus a Physical Standby plus a Logical Standby and a Grid Control server. I need to tell network admins to OPEN ports in firewall so that each servers can talk to other. My question is what are the default ports used by these servers so that it can left OPEN.
Or let know the doc / url etc where I can find the info.
Thx

For the public interface port 1521 is the default. I do not recall, without looking it up, the default for the OEM Grid agents. My recommendation, for Data Guard, is that you choose a different port and set it up with a different listener ... 1522 comes to mind immediately.
But as to what other port ranges need to be open for the actual connection you need to read the docs. 1521 is used only for connecting to the listener. The actual database connection does not use that port and does not use any specific port rather it uses a range.
In other words ... you are going to have to read the docs.

    Hello
I am very interested of this possibility to develop the equivalent of the Cubase VST expression Map to drive VSL articulation changes
I have read that the score have been re-wrote ! is this true ?
Reading the manual I did not find that it was possible to convert score events (staccato, legato ...) into a midi command to be send to VSL
Also you cannot work on note length.
Looks like you cannot do more that what you can do with the environment !
I hope I am wrong and that this is missing in the manual

You pretty well answered your own question.. if the router hsa no WAN ethernet.. being a cable or adsl modem router I suppose then you clearly plug the TC into its LAN port.
All routers must have WAN port but in the case of the above examples it is a coax cable or phone port.
A general use router without a modem will have WAN port that is ethernet..
It is pretty easy to select which to use.. just think direction.. WAN always points to internet.. LAN always points to clients.

  • What ports to open between Connection broker and Web access hosts

I have setup a 4 node 2008 R2 RDS farm (1 connection broker, 1 Web access, and 2 session hosts.) They were all built from the same image, but the web access and connection broker will not talk to each other. They are all on the same subnet, and ips are x.x.x.200-203 The Web access server can ping the Sesions hosts, the session hosts can ping each other, web access and the connection broker. But the Web access and Connection broker cant ping each other. I turned off the windows firewall and they can ping, and connect... So whats ports does it need open?
     Thanks!

  • What ports to open on ADSL router for ePrint

My HP ePrint printer is behind an ADSL router with firewall/NAT functionality. The printer has an internal ip address.
Incoming connections from the internet are by default denied unless I open specific ports and protocols on the firewall and do natting to the internal network. What do I need to to open to allow HP to send print jobs to my HP printer at home?

This setup works for me on a port-based firewalled NAT router with all inbound/outbound TCP/UDP ports blocked from 1 to 65535 except those enabled out of necessity like DNS (UDP/TCP port 53). I added TCP port 5223 (XMPP over SSL) outbound only to the NAT firewall. TCP port 443 (HTTPS) outbound was already enabled. No UDP ports. No inbound. No need to do NAT port forwarding. Port 5222 (XMPP) also works for me but it's unencrypted, I believe.
It takes several minutes for the ePrint service to get established but it does eventually work. I think the printer tries to connect to the ePrint service on port 5222 first and when that fails it tries 5223 so it takes a little more time to get connected. But, that's just a guess.
See http://xmpp.org/rfcs/rfc3920.html if you care to know more about XMPP.

  • What Ports to Open

    Hello All,
Was wondering what specific ports need to be open on my firewall for external users wanting to access the OSX server (file services). And I know this isn't the correct forum for this portion, but perhaps the ports for Apple Remote Desktop as well?
    Thanks in advance,
    -andy-

'File services' emcompasses many things. Do you mean AFP? FTP? SMB? NFS? SFTP?, or something else?
Try http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106439 for a list of the common ports used by bundled services, including ARD.

  • What ports to open for iChat for video

I can't video chat when I'm connected to my D-link WBR-2130 Wireless G router. I know that the problems lies within the router because if I connect my computer from ethernet to my modem it works fine.
I believe the problem is just that I need to open up some ports. I had a list that someone gave me but I can't find it right now. So can I get a ports listing to open up and have the router work?
Is there anything else I could be missing so I don't need to come back and say it didn't work?

Try turning the SPI or DOS firewall setting on the WAN page Off as well.
It is a Check to Disable this item.
    Save Settings.
In my DG834G I only made sure it did UPnP (Default) and changed the DOS (on Mine) to Off and allowed the Responding to Internet Pings.
My Allow and Block settings were the same as yours.
I did have Bonjour problems with one computer on Leopard and the other on Tiger that I was not able to resolve until both were on Leopard.

  • EA2700 WAN PORT open to the world by default?

I just noticed last night that my EA2700 router was accessible on the WAN port, from the Internet, on ports 80 and 53. I am running router firmware 1.0.14 and the update utility reports that there is no newer version.
Remote management is NOT enabled (it defaults to port 8080 anyway) and I enabled and disabled it for good measure. Rebooted a few times, too.
I then enabled and disabled the regular admin interface on HTTPS and turned off HTTP. That enabled the admin interface on port 443, but still left it enabled on port 80. And now both port 80 and 443 were accessible outside the firewall! And now I couldn't turn off port 443!
I disabled UPnP and rebooted and still the ports were open to the Internet.
Needless to say, I was pretty horrified by this discovery.
I only leave one port forwarded, port 22, to SSH on an internal box. That is the only hole through my firewall I ever expect to see.
As a fix for this problem, I added three new port forwards on port 80, port 53 and port 443, and mapped them all to a random port on an unused IP on my internal network. THIS and ONLY this finally made ports 80, 53, and 443 inaccessible from the Internet at large.
What's going on here? It seems hard to believe that EVERY EA2700 device would have this issue or this would've come out long ago. Any ideas?

  • What port do I connect my express to on the back of my modem?

I am trying to install my new Airport Express but I do not know what port to use on the back of my modem. Do I go WAN to WAN or do I have to pick one of the other ports?

It is confused.. that is due to the setup wizard picking the wrong options.. or something else has gone wrong.
Reset the express to factory and start over.
With your ethernet plugged into the left hand port.. next to the power socket. Make sure the ethernet light is turned on.. little tiny green light on the Express and the modem will also have indicator that the LAN port is connected.. just check it.
Run through the wizard again.. if it chooses the wrong setup simply go to doing it manually.. I have given full details of manual setup here.
Airtport Utility can't find Airport Time Capsule on either of my 2009 Macs
If the pictures do not display.. sorry but that is the new Apple. Click and download each one.. they are still there it is just apple has display problems.

  • Cisco E900 ports 1990/tcp and 5916/tcp open on the LAN. Cannot close them.

    Hello,
I just bought a Cisco Linksys E900 wireless router. Can someone explain to me why  the router (192.168.1.1 on my case) has ports 1990/tcp and 5916/tcp open on the LAN?? I cannot find a way to close those ports.
    Just do a simple:
    telnet 192.168.1.1 1990
    or
    telnet 192.168.1.1 5916
and you'll see those ports are open.
    1990/tcp = Cisco STUN Priority 1 port
    5916/tcp = I have no idea
Every client on the LAN (wired and wireless) can connect to those ports on the router. I do not want that to happen. It is unncessary and it is just not secure. I only want the router to have port 443 open on the LAN for the web mgmt interface. I do not want any other unncessary port open.
It would be great to have a response from Cisco directly.
    Thank you for your time.

    Thank you for your response.
The router is already updated to the latest firmware (1.0.04 Build 1).
I had to do the update as soon as I opened the box because the default firmware had an incredible serious bug: after setting up the web management interface on the LAN to work over SSL, it was impossible to access the interface because of an SSL bug in the router. The bug is in the release notes of the firmware... that alone says a lot about the very very poor quality of this router.. you can't have that kind of bug in a finished product....
I was able to close port 1990/tcp by disabling WPS in the router, although doing so was pure luck since the router's UI is terrible..
5916/tcp is still open.. since I was able to close 1990/tcp I don't think this is a defective router.. I cannot return a router to the store just because it leaves a port open, the store, sadly, will not take it back... so please Cisco, can you help with this? this product is faulty, it doesn't work as expected, it's your responsability.. please help
Reset the router manually then reconfigure the settings.

  • Should FTP port be opened for client_to_as function

I need to transfer a file from the client machine to the Solaris Server where the 10g forms are running. I was planning on using the webutil_file_transfer.client_to_as function. I know we have to set some properties in the webutil.cfg file. Other than that, should the FTP port be open on the server for the file to be transferred from the client machine. Basically, wanted to know if FTP protocols are used to transfer the file so that certain securities can be set on the server.
Also does anyone know how to delete the file on the solaris server programmatically through Oracle Forms? After the file is transferred from the client to the server and processed, I need to delete the file. I am assuming you can use the HOST command, but not sure of the exact syntax and what permissions are required to delete the file from the client machine.

I have never used the "Client_To_AS" method, however, according to the documentation all you need to configure is the webutil.cfg and insure the transfer.appsrv.enabled parameter is set to TRUE and if the transfer.appsrv.accessControl parameter is set to TRUE then you also need to ensure the target directory on the App Server is listed in the transfer.appsrv.write list. There is no mention that FTP must be enabled on the App Server.
The documentation also states that you should call the WebUtil_File_Transfer.IsASWritable function with the target file name to ensure you are able to write to the file location on the server.
As to how to delete a file, you can use the "rm <filename>" command in Solaris to remove the file. Also, here is the link to the documentation I used to reply to your post.

  • What ports are blocked with Homefusion

I am trying to figure out what ports are blocked on the homefusion service.

There is no official list of blocked ports for HomeFusion or any of the other VZW products.  All products are treated the same way.  The NAT firewall on VZWs new LTE network is responsible for blocking internet communication as well as hiding public IP Addresses. No manual configuration of the devices themselves will allow you to work around the issue.  In truth it would be easier to create a list of the allowed ports but we don't have one of those either.
A rule of thumb is that you should assume any custom or unusual ports are blocked.  Even the less popular mainstream ports are blocked some times.  Only the major mainstream public ports are normally available.  You have to test out your applications to know for sure if they work.  If you have a laptop then stop by a VZW store and use one of their devices to test if it works before you buy.
Also, anything depending on Public IP Addresses is broken on the new LTE network.  Some common examples are VOIP phones, Xbox hosting, IP security cameras, etc.  If you need remote access to your local network then forget about it.
The work around to blocked ports and Public IPs are as follows:
    1. Setup a VPN to connect to a network where the ports are open
    2. Purchase a static IP Address from VZW for $500.00
    3. Use a different ISP
VZW does not make exceptions for port blocking.  You have to work around them or get by without them.

  • AirPort Extreme FTP port is open when doing Remote Port Scan

I have a question regarding the AirPort Extreme Base stations running firmware 7.7.3.  Currently the AirPort is not port-mapping any services, however when I do a remote port scan of that particular AirPort I have noticed some TCP ports are open from the outside, such as FTP port 21, RTSP port 554 and ARCP port 7070. Why is that? I thought the AEBS blocks these services by default, unless otherwise configured to be open.  Is this a vulnerability with the firmware?

TCP and UDP ports used by Apple software products - Apple Support
Your 554 and 7070 may be open due to links to itunes store. It is not a big vulnerability since it is for streaming.
Port 21 is more a concern.. It is used internally by the AE apparently.. but I really do not know why. FTP as a protocol is not offered to the outside world. so you cannot connect to it and get info for files.. even if you have a hard disk plugged in. Why it should be open to the outside world I am not sure.
Do you have BTMM turned on? It may be involved with remote services.
If you are concerned it is not hard to fix.. port map those ports to a non-existent client in the network.. however your itunes store connection might stop working as well as some other things... that need those ports open.. There is also a good chance you cannot map them when they are used.. so do a factory reset and before you setup other applications or BTMM do the port map and see what happens.
You can also post the details to apple directly but I honestly doubt you are facing any big issues here.

  • Why do ports remain open after closing Firefox?

I have noticed recently that several ports associated with Firefox remain open when the Firefox browser is closed. The number of open ports increases each time Firefox is opened and I have seen that the number of open ports has reached to more than 1,000 open ports at a time. The majority of the open ports are outbound TCP using port 443 and I also note a sustained increase in the network traffic after Firefox is closed.
I have observed ports opened by the Explorer browser and noted that all of the ports opened with Explorer close when the Explorer browser is closed. The Firefox ports remain open when the browser is closed.
    Questions:
    - Should all open ports associated with an open Firefox browser close when the Firefox browser is closed?
    - Does Firefox have a setting that closes all open ports when the Firefox browser is closed?
    - Does XP have a setting that will close all open ports associated with Firefox when Firefox is closed?
    - Should I have security concerns about the accumulating open ports and increased network activity when using Firefox?
    Thanks.

You can set the pref browser.download.manager.quitBehavior to 2 on the about:config page.
    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.download.manager.quitBehavior
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
