What accessories do I need to enable us to watch a movie on tv which is on my ipad?
What accessories do I need to buy to enable us to transfer film from ipad to tv?.
Thanks, linda.I Agree with Meg. The Apple TV is a nice accessory that lets you do quite a few things In addition to wireless streaming video from your iPad. The Apple TV is $99 though and the cables I suggested are much less. But then the Apple TV does so much more.

What passwords should be changed after OAS cluster build?
I have completed a cluster installation of Fusion Middleware and AIA 2.2.x. I would like to know what passwords should be changed other than oc4jadmin.
hi,
First of all changing password of oc4jadmin on cluster is bit tricky. make sure you follow the steps correctly. I assume you know these steps.
It is not advised to use oc4jadmin for normal monitoring, admin and configuration changes task in application server control. you should create following user with corresponding privileges. Please refer to http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/core.1013/b28940/tools.htm#BEIDJGID
ascontrol_admin : Assign this role to administrators who need complete administrative privileges and access to the Application Server Control application and pages. You can consider these administrators the "super users" assigned to manage your Oracle Application Server and OC4J environment.
ascontrol_appadmin : Assign this role to administrators who need to manage all deployed applications, except the default and Application Server Control (ascontrol) applications. These administrators can manage the applications you deploy, but they cannot create new administrative users or make global configuration changes.
ascontrol_monitor : Assign this role to administrators who must monitor the Oracle Application Server and OC4J environment, but do not need to make any configuration changes to the applications or the OC4J instance. This role is essentially a read-only role.
Also, you would want to create user for monitoring in BPEL, ESB, AIA console. This user should have following roles:
AIAUser
BPMAnalyst
BPMDefaultDomainAdmin
Supervisor
Ascontrol_monitor

Satellite A60-772: What drives do I need after HDD format?
I would like to format my hard drive. What drivers do I need to have to load after the format? Thanks
Hi Mike
Thank you for the info. No, I do not have the installation CD.
I went to the suggestion website and downloaded the 'installation instructions' file (ii.txt). It gave me a list of items. Does the list reprent all the drivers to install? Or do I need to download all of them including the hot fixes?
Thanks

I have a Mac OS X version 10.5.8 what upgrade shoul I purchase to enable me to transfer cds to nano ipod?
Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
and in the UK:
http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
but nobody knows for how long it will be available.
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard to bring it up to 10.6.8, or download the combo update from here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Check via Software Update whether further updates are required. -
What precautions should I take before upgrading to iDVD 06 (and iLife 06)?
I have read a few people's experiences on this site about problems encountered after upgrading to iLife 06. I am about to do this and wondered what how I should go about backing up my iDVD and iMovie 5 half-completed projects in case they don't work properly in version 6.
Will a half-completed iDVD 05 project seemlessly covert to iDvd 6 after installation or should I complete it in 5 before upgrading? If I should go ahead and upgrade, in case there are problems, how do I back up my projects in case I need to reinstall iLife 5 to work on them again?
Thanks in advanceAlso, I forgot to mention, I had read that not all the themes that are accessible in iDvd 5 are accessible in iDvd 6 - is this true? If so, what happens if I have used one in my half-completed projects?

What Gear do i need to enable WDM (DWDM) on a Dark Fiber?
We have Dark Fiber between 2 DCs and would like to enable WDM on it. What Cisco Optical Gear do i need for this? We would also link to enable Encryption on this link as well. TIA
You can do "simple" CWDM with the Cisco WDM series of CWDM Passive devices. Those can support 4 or 8 channels.
They depend on you "feeding" them signals from special transceiver models that modulate the light on a wavelength compliant with the ITU-50GHz channels listed in the DWDM SFP+ data sheet Leo mentioned and linked to.
The compatibility matrix tells you what Cisco gear is compatible with those transceivers. If you're using other 3rd party gear, they have equivalent support matrices. The bottom line is you need to match wavelengths to what the mux is expecting.
If you move up to the ONS 15454 line you have more flexibility - transponder cards etc that will transform standard SFP+ (1550 nm 10 Gbps signalling on fiber) to the ITU channels etc. You're talking serious money there though - hundreds of thousands of US$. Cisco will be happy to send a sales engineer over and build a nice detailed bill of materials if that's in your budget. -
What's should I need as hardware to record my guitar?
i have 21 inc Imac and I am planning to record my electric guitar and acoustics with Garageband, What do I need to buy-hardware- to hve good recordings?
Thanks
AmineWhile you can plug in your electric guitar directly to the iMac line-in port, you won't get very good results. What you need to buy an audio interface. This is a piece of external hardware that connects to your computer via USB or Firewire (in most cases), and connects to your electric guitar using a 1/4-inch TS or TRS cable (again in most cases).
A decent, very cheap interface is the MAudio Fast Track USB or Fast Track Pro. If you want to get something nicer and you have a few hundred dollars to spend, try the Presonus Firebox, or the Apogee Duet.
You will need to get a 1/4 inch cable to plug your guiter into the interface. I would suggest getting a TRS cable, since it is balanced and will usually produce a better sound, but honestly to start out you can just get a TS cable. -
What problems should be expected after purchasing a macbook in america?
My friend is purchasing a Mac Book in the united states and then moving to england. Apart from the obvious need for a plug adapter, what other problems will he face? How might this affect the warranty or cover plan?
Any advice would be appreciated!
iBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.7) Airport ExtremeI was always under the impression that the keyboards were different. The currency aboove the '3' key is '$' in the US machine and '£' on the UK machine. Of course OS X can set the keyboard layout to whichever you prefer, but the physical keyboard will still display what it was built to display.
Also, aren't the 'enter' keys differently shaped? There's a chance this MAY effect resale valus in the UK.
I wouldn't exactly call these problems, but they're tidbits worth knowing IMHO. -
What soundcard do I need to enable multitrack audio recording?
...using my PB G4 12?
I want to be able to do live 4-track recording.
I've been trying to get info on the digidesign and m-audio websites but they don't specify what I need for my particular computer.
Also, any software recommendations for the 4-track live recording? I have plenty of software for mixing, etc...only need it for the live 4-track(or more) recording.
Thanks!

What equipment will I need to enable me to charge my blackberry curve in Israel for a year?
Hello, I'm going to Israel for a year and I need some sort of converter or something like that in order to charge my blackberry. I am completely ignorant in this department and so I need some information. Please be thorough in your response. Please help, thank you so much and take care.
What kind of format will you be working with?
HD? HDV????? DV? Beta?
I'd buy the biggest baddest mac you can afford - 2 gigs memory is fine unless you can swing 4. Fill the 4 bays with at least 500gig drives (but....)
The rest will depend on what format you will be using.

What precautions should I take before replacing ram
I still have original RAM in my G5, but have just received 2 x 1GB replacements. Do I need to take any precautions before replacing the RAM?
To prevent static electricity buildup, good idea not to do it on a very low humidity day. Humid day would be the best. Touch the Mac's metal chassis before installing or going near the RAM. Maybe overkill, but I use an anti-static wrist strap with one end clipped to the chassis or outside metal frame of the computer. If you're in the US, I think Radio Shack might still have them, although I bought mine back in 2008.

STEPS TAKEN:
Logged into Mac for first time today.
Noticed a new individual file in Directory Library ".a.text". (Settings disply hidden system file/folders)
File contained only the text "--purge".
Meta data on file directed source to bash process run @ startup.
Attached History command output.
Disabled ARD for now.
SETTINGS:
All Sharing was Off.
Firewall was set to Block All Incoming Connections.
Home network with no other active users at time.
Upgraded to Mavs 10.9.2 last night.
Do not use any file sharing or remote access into Mac.
The SSH host attempts were my old Amazon EC2 instances.
Appears to start bitcoin app and few databases.
Worth noting I've been having tons of various issues last few months.
Thanks.

<POB> ENDI'm extremely unclear on exactly what's happening. You mention something about a script running at startup in your subject, but then never mention that again. What's going on there? Where are you finding that script?
That script would suggest someone playing a joke on you, by making your computer say "quack" every time you start up. That's not indicative of malware.
On the other hand, a hidden file as you describe is a common malware trick, though I'm not sure why it would only contain "--purge" - that isn't a complete command, as far as I know, and the purge command isn't likely to be used for malicious purposes anyway.
Still, you do have some indication that you're using Bitcoin-related apps, and there has been some Bitcoin malware that has appeared recently. See:
New CoinThief malware discovered
Note that the post on MacRumors that you refer to in your second post is almost six years old, and references a vulnerability that was closed later in 2008. It's completely irrelevant to any modern system. -
Selling my BB 8120, What precautions should I take
Is it safe to leave your Sim card in the phone when selling it?
This BB is from the CBW Cincinnati Bell Wireless network.
Will it work on other networks?
Thanks in advance,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Pete
Solved!
Go to Solution. No, remove the SIM card. Keep it or trash it. You could have some contacts saved on it or whatever, but it is not needed by the new owner regardless.
1. Before selling, ask your carrier CBW to remove the device PIN from your BIS account. Without doing this, it will not be usable to another user.
2. Do a backup of your old device using Desktop Manager. You never know when you might need that data.
3. Do a wipe on the device at Options > Security > General Settings > Wipe Handheld.
1. If any post helps you please click the below the post(s) that helped you.
2. Please resolve your thread by marking the post "Solution?" which solved it for you!
3. Install free BlackBerry Protect today for backups of contacts and data.

Dbwr consuming high CPU after enabling DirectIO
Hi,
DBWR is consuming high CPU. After enabling DirectIO on Solaris SPARC 10, dbwr is eating away almost 1 CPU on a v440 machine i.e. 19% throughout the day. Neither of "buffer busy waits" or "write complete waits" or "free buffer waits" are in the top 5 wait events, which, to me, means that there is no buffer contention.
What I understand is that after enabling DirectIO, it takes longer for the IO to complete because pre-DirectIO it would return from the file system cache whereas now it has to return from the disk (and I do see at the OS level that IO has become slow), but should that result in dbwr consuming more CPU?
Infact after enabling DirectIO, IO has become very slow which is another problem and as a result log file writes have also become slow which is a 3rd problem. btw, I am aware that if there were many FTS, then DirectIO can make the system slow but there are no FTS in my case. Also, that SGA should be increased after enabling DirectIO, which has also been done.

What I understand is that after enabling DirectIO, it takes longer for the IO to complete because pre-DirectIO it would return from the file system cache whereas now it has to return from the disk Incorrect. See directio for details.
Yes, removing the file system cache from the I/O layer for a device can reduce I/O performance if the caller does not perform its own caching. However, direct I/O will eliminate the system cache overheads (and associated CPU resources needed) from a caller (like Oracle) that implements its own sophisticated buffer cache.
Direct I/O should therefore increase Oracle I/O performance and decrease resource footprint as it eliminates the need for the kernel to maintain a cache for that device.
Infact after enabling DirectIO, IO has become very slow which is another problem and as a result log file writes have also become slow which is a 3rd problem. Direct I/O, as per the Sun docs, is an advisory call. It may not place that device in direct I/O modes. It may result in partial direct I/O. So you need to make sure exactly what happens and how successful (partial or complete) this setting was.
btw, I am aware that if there were many FTS, then DirectIO can make the system slow but there are no FTS in my case. FTS (multi block reads/large sequential reads) is slower? This is contrary to Sun's docs that state:
Large sequential I/O generally performs best with DIRECTIO_ON, except when a file is sparse or is being extended and is opened with O_SYNC or O_DSYNC.
