What preference settings should I use

I have half a dozen short video clips emailed to me.  They were taken with an iPhone 4S.  QT pro and FCPX says they are 568x320 30fps 1080p ?
When Insert a clip FCPX doesn't recognise the format and wants me to select one.  What would be the best choice here?
I am guessing Mail compressed the video when it snet it.

Ooops!
Here is the sreen shot

  • What eq settings should i use for my ipod touch if i am using a car cassette cd adapter

i have found a cheaper way to listen to my ipod touch in my new 1999 cadillac catera is to use a casette adapter that you would use if you wanted to use a portable cd player in a car (although mine already has a cd player in it)
however my problem is that the audio for coming out of the speakers sounds a but tinny, and rough, i tried to use the eq settings (treble booster) and sound check to alevate the problem, and while it is marginally bettter now, the audio still sounds very rough and tinny
my question to all you apple experts is that if someone wanted to use a car cd casette adapter with their ipod touch, what audio settings does he/she need to use in order to make it sound right (meaning just like if you were using speakers at home or your headphones)

The appropriate MPEG2-DVD preset should suffice.

  • What resolution settings should I use for 13" MBPr?

I've been reading several reviews and online guides suggesting various setting for the MBPr 13". I'm sure this has been asked a billion times, but have most people agreed that keeping the resolution set to "best for retina" really best for the retina? Is there any overall consensus? Or does it really just come down to user preference?

No other adjustments need to be made. DV, whether it be progressive or interlaced...both play at 29.97 and are DV/NTSC (if shot with an NTSC camera).
I can shoot interlaced with my Canon GL1 and use the same capture settings as someone who shot 24P (NOT 24PA) with a DVX-100a.

  • What export settings should I use? Please advise

Hey I'm struggling to find the proper settings to export with Pr and need some advice. My Project is about 6 1/2 minutes long. All of my source clips are:
    GoPro Footage:
    1280x720, 59.94 fps
    1.0 Square Pixels
I have color corrected and added effects using AE.
I want to export my project in the highest quality format that I can put on YouTube (it has to be under 15GB).
I've tried a couple different things but the exported version doesn't look anywhere near as good as it does when I watch it in Pr. If I was using Final Cut I would be use "Apple Pro Res" to export.
    Most recent export settings-
    Format: QuickTime
    1280x720, 59.94fps
    Codec: Video
    1.0 Square Pixels
    Depth 16 bit
I checked the box for maximum render quality as well
The final product came out to about 10GB (which is fine) but the quality of the video was no what I wanted. It looked kind of grainy and the colors weren't popping like they do when I watch it in Pr.
Any suggesstions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Steezy, you're fine then with the YouTube 720p preset.
60fps is only needed to get relatively smooth slow-motion effects in post.
So having 30 is absolutely sufficient for YouTube. Just give it a try.
    And Jim:
-Only if you have it installed.  I don't, and I'm sure I'm not alone.  MP4 wrapping will be more accessible than an MOV wrapped file.-
    You're absolutely right.
The OP wrote in his second post that he did use the h264 codec.
And a h264 mp4 file will also be accessed by the QT plugin IF installed.
So h264 in an mp4 or m4v container is the way to go anyway...

  • What sequence settings should I use with multiple formats?

I'm starting a new project in CS6 that's using multiple types of video.  I've got old camcorder video from 20 years ago...as well as digital video...and current HD video.  I want all the video in the sequence to output as full screen.  So do I need to use the 720 x 480 settings to accommodate the old camcorder video?  Or will that mess up my new HD stuff?  Thanks.

First you need to force Premiere to interpret the camcorder files as widescreen. So highlight all the camcorder files from the project panel, right-click and select Modify -> Interpret Footage. Then change the pixel aspect ratio to "D1/DV NTSC Widescreen 16:9 (1.2121)".
Next you need to upscale the camcorder files to the HD project window size. So after you drop them on to your timeline... highlight one or more of them, right-click and select "Scale to Frame Size".
Finally you may want to fine tune it to remove edge artifacts or borders. There's a few ways to do this but the quickest would be to just slightly increase the Scale settings in the effects control panel. Once you have a good look, you can just copy and paste the scale settings to all the other clips on the timeline.
Alternatively, you can use Red Giant Instant HD to do the up-scaling as I'm sure it do a much better job.

  • What iPod settings should be checked to automatically sync

    Hello,
At iTunes what iPod settings should be checked to have iTunes automatically add the latest songs. I played around with them that I can't remember how they were before I messed with them. To be clearer - I mean where you can see that long status bar that tells you how full your iPod is and there are 4 boxes to checked or not checked.
    Thank you,
    Nick M.

    Thank you for your reply,
Yes, that's the section - what I want to know is which of the 4 boxes there should be checked in the Options section for normal operation?
    Right now I have checked:
Open iTunes when this iPod is attached
    Sync only checked songs
    (unchecked Manually manage music)
    Enable disk use
With these settings I have to now eject the iPod after syncing.
I know this isn't a major problem - still, it would be nice to solve it.
    Thank you,
    Nick M.

    Hi Thomasjewell,
Yes you can avail the discounted prices even you are upgrading the product just for two users. You can use the serial number for your Creative Suite 5 product.
You can follow the link: https://creative.adobe.com/plans in order to purchase Creative Cloud for Teams product.
Let me know if it works or not.

You need to plug it into your computer running iTunes and restore it. Have you tried that? If so, what happened?

Thanks so much.  I downloaded Acrobat XI.  It's been "extracting" for the past 30 minutes (even with a fast wi-fi).  Hope this is not a problem.

  • What pdf tag should I use for footnotes?

I get involved in generating fully accessible tagged pdf's for asisstive technologies and the like. I have a doc in InDesign which uses footnotes. When I tag the document, should I map the footnotes (paragraph) style to a particular predefined pdf tag (http://www.alistapart.com/d/pdf_accessibility/PDFtags.html) and if so which one? P, STORY, NOTE....? I'm not sure and can't find any reference out there to help me.

What speed disks should i use in an Apple Superdrive?
    Thanks

It matters little. The slower the burn speed, i.e. 2x or 4x, the better the burn.
What is important is the brand of media: most of here recommend Verbatim, Maxell and Taiyo Yuden.

  • What settings should I use to "hold" emails on my Outlook email using SHAW.CA

My iPHONE6 is new this week.   SHAW.CA technical support (x3) cannot make my settings on my iphone6  HOLD my EMAILS.  They appear and in 1 minute they disappear.  What settings should I have?  I see they used EXCHANGE to set up my email while APPLE in MAIL SETTINGS LOOKUP points to
    POP Account Type.
    Advice, please.

That works perfectly fine - if you have multiple devices that you want to access the email from
You would have to manually delete it from the server (web) unless you allowed it to be deleted after 14 days or Delete when deleted from Deleted Items
At any rate - glad you got it working

  • What sequence setting should I use for a High Quality Video Montage?

I am about to start a new project for a client using photographs only.  I have two questions:
    1.  What should I use for the sequence settings?  Should I edit with a HD sequence setting?
    2.  I am going to scan the pics myself.  What Pixel or resolution is appropriate to get the best quality?  I'm looking for wide screen 16 x 9, not 3 x 4.

First, decde how you are going to deliver this production to your client. Then tell us what that delivery medium will be. Then we'll have some advice for you.
See the section in the FCP manual on using still images. You need to understand that in video there are only pixels, no dots per inch or lines per inch. Those terms are meaningless in video. You wil sand at a size in raw pixels that is only slightly larger than your delivery format.
