What printer scanner is a good match with IMac

So I have a brand new IMac OS 10.9.2.
I also have a brand new HP Officejet 6700 printer/scanner.
Printer works fine on wireless. The scanner however will not scan to the computer. Message on the IMac is that there is no document in the scanner. If I try to initiate the scan from the HP it does not list the IMac as an option to scan to. I can scan to a USB and copy from it. but this is for a small bussines and I cant be waisting my time with that.
I am happy to buy a new printer/scanner but I do not know which one is a good match.
I have been to three major stores and in each the sales person has been adiment that HP is the best. But they are not aware of the issue above. So I have asked them all to show me one working and they cannot get it to work. When I or they research the internet reviews & forums we get the same thing. There is a big issue out there with the HP scanners not seeing the IMac, but it would seem the sale people do not know about it. So how then do trust there opionion on other printer/scanners do they actually know that they will work.
I dont want to be messing around waisting valuable time re-programming either device or changing 20 odd settings to achieve nothing. I'm not particularly computer savvy. I just want to buy a printer/scanner, plug it in and use it and have it do what it says on the box.
So can someone who knows their stuff please advise me on a good economic printer/scanner that matches well to an IMac.
P.S I scan and print documents regularly not high quality photos

I'm using a Brothers MFC-J4610DW and it works very well with my Mac running 10.9.2. But it does not list the Mac as a Scan to device and that is because of Apple not the printer or the drivers, software. It is a OS X restriction.

Here are a few analog to digital devices and approaches I have had success with:
1. Sony DA-2
2. Most Name brand Firerwire or i.Link Minidv Camcorders with Digital Pass thru feature will suffice since more often than not this feature is also included ... But read the owner's manual or check online to make certain it's included.
3. Canopus products work perfectly nearly 100% of the time and will keep the video and audio in synch much better than other devices. It can take the form of a pci card (if your mac is so equipped) and if not, then a canopus media converter box will also work (as already mentioned above):

4. Another approach I use to simply "dump" mini dv or VHS tapes to Dvd-R is a DVD Player/Recorder like the one shown below with Digital inputs. In this case (i.Link / FW)):

HT ALMOST A YEAR AGO . IT HAS ISIGHT SO I PRESSUME ITS A G5 PRO. I wouls like to change my existing printer with a good quality scanner an printer which would be an good match with my imac ?

Ihave imac 10.6.8 - i3 bought less than a year ago. It has isight so pressume its g5 procesor.
I would like quality scanner to add and think i may as well change my printer to scanner and printer combined. Canm anyone advise on bEST to go for. Thanks mqd

On the contrary, you have an intel processor, and it's not a G5 Pro, those are PPC and can't run Snow Leopard.
I have always had good luuck with Canon Multifunction machines, try one of those.

Would the Sony KDL-46EX710 be a good match with ATV?

I'm about to buy a new television. The Sony KDL-46EX710 model appeals to me because, unlike most other 46 inch models from other manufacturers, the Sony's relatively low overall height allows it to fit nicely into the space I have available.
I also plan to buy an Apple TV and I want to make certain that the Sony is a smart choice.
My questions are:
1.) Will the Sony and the Apple TV work well together?
2.) Any advice or warnings I should be aware of before I pull the trigger?

as long as it has an HDMI port and is at least 720p then there shouldn't be any issue.

HDMI and at least 720p are the only things appletv needs.

Scanner does not work wirelessly with iMac

I have an imac and an HP 8620 (not a cheap printer!!!) trying to scan wirelessly running latest 10.10.2 and all i get is "The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.hp.scanhandler.error error 2.2)" I have uninstalled reinstalled, run the cd and still NOTHING.HP are as much help as a chocolate teapot, just telling me to go round in circles doing what I've already done!!!! Hey ! Thank you for posting on the HP Forums! I would be more then happy to provide some help regarding scanning with your Officejet 8620 to the Mac computer. I find that a great way to scan on the Mac computer is to use the application called Image Capture. Image Capture is a an application built into the Mac operating system that allows you to communicate with the scanner and other image capturing devices. To open Image Capture click on the Spot Light (Magnifying glass icon at the top right corner of the Mac). Type Image Capture into the little search bar and it should show up as the first selection. Open Image Capture and select your printer on the left side of the window. The printer may be listed under "Shared". Once the printer is selected you should have the option to scan. There is also another button to "Show Details". That gives you more options for setting up the scan. You should have the option to name the scan, select a folder, change file type, etc. Here is an Example of Image Capture: Please post back and let me know if that worked for you

I have read other posts and can't seem to find a solid answer. I need a good quality printer/scanner to use for my business. I scan old pictures and edit them together with music and video. I am looking for printer/scanner that can do this with great quality, and also be able to print onto printable DVD's.

There are not many keyboards available yet that are specially designed for the mini yet, but I am sure the will be soon. In the mean time you can use any Bluetooth keyboard that is designed for the bigger iPad, Mac, or whatever.

Can anyone recommend a good printer/scanner/fax that is compatible with my Powerbook G4? Right now I have the HP officejet 6110 all in one and the scanner does not work with my Mac (I had it when I used a PC) So I want to get a new printer/scanner/fax and want to know what is the best or a really good one that can doe everything (if it prints photos even better)

Any AIO with fax does not require the Mac to be turned on to send and receive hard copy faxes. If you wanted to send from your Mac then of course it would have to be turned on.

Have you checked the ink cartridges and made sure the nozzles are clear? Are you able to print from outside of iPhoto with the correct color?
Try the following: make temporary copy of the library and do the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

Have you downloaded the approriate Snow Leopard drivers for that printer? Make sure you get the appropriate and latest MP Navigator, as you start scans from the computer, not the all-in-one. Get them from http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mp_s eries/pixma_mp830#DriversAndSoftware

Try restarting the device first..
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, then swipe the slider to power off.
Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

Standard practices:
Restart the device (power off completely, then back on) - retest.
Reset (hold sleep wake and home buttons until apple logo appears) - you can try this, but it is most useful when your device is frozen.
Restore to factory settings - retest.
Make an appointment at an Apple retail store genius bar if the above did not resolve the issue.

What printer will work with a mini.

I have a Mini and I needf a all in one printer. I was thinking about the HP Photosmart C3180 All-in-One Printer, Scanner, Copier.
My mini is intel and I dont know if this will still work. Does anyone have any info on this. Or maybe you know of a all in one that works well with mac mini.
The HP above is sold in the apple store.

I have used an HP 3310, with the optional duplexer unit too, both wirelessly and later wired, as a network printer, and everything worked good.

the unit's power has to be cycled occassionally, but this has nothing to do with the computer using it, seems to be a minor problem with the network regardless of what computer is present (happens when only my XP machines are on too).
