What problems arise when syncing the iPad with another laptop with iTunes.
I have to use another laptop to sync with iTunes for my iPad. What problems arise ie. do I lose my music?
Sync with "new" computer

1) Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
2) Now connect your iPad to your laptop and start iTunes.
3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your new laptop, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on Edit / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.
That should do it.

When syncing the iPad it never completes in iTunes??
When I connect the iPad the auto sync starts and seems to progress ok and the syncing symbol appears on the iPad. You can see in iTunes it's going through the various steps then gets stuck on the final step "Waiting for changes to be applied." However the iPad seems to happily finish as the syncing symbol disappears. Any ideas what's wrong?? iTunes just never comes out of this state...

My daughter changed her password and can't remember it. Suggestions online say to go back to the computer we synced it on. What if we never synced the iPad on a computer? Any help?
You can restore the iPad using recovery mode (most likely needed) on any computer. She will lose everything on the iPad though. Purchased content can be downloaded again as long as you use the same Apple ID that you bought it with.

How do I stop an app from waiting? I have tried to reboot by holding the home key and power button to power down. The app is still grayed out and waiting so it cannot be deleted. Also, I have tried to sync the apps from my laptop and tried downloading new appswith no success. Can you help? Thanks
If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.

Another thing to try - Turn the iPad Off & then back ON.
If that doesn't work:
• Log out of your iTunes store account. Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.
• Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
• After restart, the Waiting should be gone.

Presumably, if that house was a wifi network, and you know the wifi networks password so you can connect, you can use it. Does the homeowner have a secured network? Have you asked them for the password to connect?

If everything is working OK, I believe it simply means that the iPad and iTunes are communicating and that any changes that you made to the sync configuration are waiting to go through. If you updated apps on the iPad and they get transferred into iTunes or if you download new songs onto the iPad and they are being transferred into iTunes, any app data that moves back and forth - those would be changes that need to be applied.
If you can't finish the sync and that's why you are asking, can you provide more specific details? -
How can I sync my iPad 2 with my new MacBook Pro when it is already synced with my old MacBook? I am getting a message on the new MacBook Pro that says I am not allowed to sync the iPad 2 because it is synced to another iTunes library.
1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPad but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPad with it.

I was having an issue opening a spreadsheet with the file extension .xlsm. This appears as an attachment from a client which means macros were utilized when creating the spreadsheet. The problem lies in. The iPads ability to open the attachment. I downloaded the numbers app thinking this would be a default software to open any and all spreadsheets.

Ipad 2- iOS5You may need a version without macros on it. Unfortunately, pretty much all apps are skinned down versions of their original program, often with less functionality. For example in a word document I can italicize,bold and underline, but I only have a handful of fonts to play with and I don't think I can insert tables or images.
It is very possible that the app simply cannot run macros, which means that document may never work on an iPad. -

Lock symbol is rotation lock : depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can lock rotation either by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon; press home again to exit the taskbar. I am having problems transfering contacts to my I pod when syncing the message comes back with contacts in use by I pod please close and try again, please could you let me know how to close contacts on the pod or is there a setting that is wrong etc, i have restored the device. if i go to contact via settings the screen comes on for about 2 seconds and then goes off - Help
Single click on the Home button. Then double click on the Home button. In the recently used row, touch and hold the Contact app till they start to wiggle and then tap the minus sing by the contacts app.
Also make sure the Contact program on your computer is closed. -
