What profile to use in iPhoto 6?

What's the best colorsync profile to use in iPhoto?
The reason I ask is that I have over 4,000 pictures going back to 2001. Some have no profiles embedded, some have CameraRGB, some have AdobeRGB(1988), and who knows what else. Every time iPhoto gets updated it screws up some of my pictures. I've spent the last day figuring out why and think it's because some of the pictures have no embedded colorsync profile. These are the ones that differ all over the lot when viewed in iPhoto, Photoshop, or Preview. An embedded profile seems to make them all look the same. I checked some of these profiles in ColorSync Utility and noticed that AdobeRGB(1988) seems to have the biggest color gamut. Is that meaningful?
Anybody?

I don't have to visit every web site manually with a web browser to see if there's new material to be pushed to me. My RSS client polls for updates (at a time and rate suitable for me and my ISP's network provision) and presents me with a list of things I might like to view.
I would think a notification would be far more timely and less taxing to networks than hourly polling of any number of RSS feeds.
I can then choose which to view rather than having them shoved down my throat with yet another notification. It's bad enough on the iPhone when someone decides their news item is so important they have to notify me about it. I'd rather decide for myself to be honest.
I'm a bit confused about this one. If you want to subscribe to an RSS feed, why wouldn't you want to be notified. Notifications are pretty unobtrustive. If you don't click on them, they go away in a couple of seconds.
Then again, without Mountain Lion I don't get the notifications either do I?
Nope

  • Can you check what profile a pdf was exported to?

One of my freelancers exported a series of newsprint ads and send to the ad agency to distribute to publications. One of them printed very muddy. I'm trying to determine if she used the SNAP2007 profile we use for our newsprint jobs. I opened the PDF in Acrobat and looked under properties and didn't see anything. I then open Preflight but none of the options is for SNAP2007. I see a bunch of preflight options for newsprint (coldset, web, etc.) but not the specific profile. Is there a way in Acrobat to tell what profile was used? Thx.

Thanks. I used SNAP 2007 which was supplied by the printer (Trumbull Printing). When I checked the stimulation profile it says modified SNAP 2007 profile. AFAIK, I didn't modify the profile. Loaded it, export to PDF using that destination. How to check original against modified?

  • What is the use of having process profiles in SPP?

    Dear all,
what is the use of process profile in spp? it says we use it for specifying packaging methods and packaging sizes, but what are they used for?
can someone throw some light on it please?
    regards,
    binod

    Hi Binod,
You define a process profile in Customizing for SCM Basis under Planning Service Manager ® Define Process Profile. A process profile includes a method for package creation and the maximum number of planning objects that a package can contain.
This is one of the steps in creating a Planning Service Manager Jobs.
If you setup a PSM job and run it then you get a clear idea.

There has got to be a backup product out there to allow a system to be backed up to a NAS or Drive attached to a server that is as simple as CrashPlan or TimeMachine but that actually work and don't cost $50/month for a system.
    Thoughts?
CrashPlanPROe, the enterprise version, is $60 per year per client, not $50 per month, so it may be worth looking into. It's what we run and it's been working very well for us, though you need a central server to run the software. That server can be Windows, Mac OS X, Linux or Solaris, any of which will work with any of the supported clients:

We tried Retrospect and had to return it for the limitation I mentioned above.

Contact App Store support. There's a link on the right hand side of the App Store Window. They're the only ones who can sort out account issues.

  • Can the iPhone have settings profiles?  I want the settings of what apps are using the "call home" automatically set based on my location or the time of day.  Is this possible?

Can the iPhone have settings profiles?  I want the settings of what apps are using the "call home" automatically set based on my location or the time of day.  Is this possible?  Of course the GPS location feature will need to be on in order for this to work.  But the idea here would be to optimize battery life by disabling the 'call home' requests of apps.  The settings profile should also support downloads as I would like to download and allow it when I am on WiFi but not so much when I am using my cellular data.

No, this is not possible as the sandboxed nature of iOS would not allow any app to modify another app like that. Such a feature would have to be enabled by Apple as a part of iOS itself. You can submit feedback to Apple about the idea if you wish to.

  • What is "FND : Diagnostics %"  profile option used for ?

What is "FND : Diagnostics %" profile option used for ?
How is it different from "FND : Debug%" profiles ?

I guess my above update was misleading (Sorry for that) .. Please find below more details about (FND: Diagnostics) and (FND: Debug Log Enabled):
Both profile options are used to configure logging, the difference between them is (FND: Debug Log Enabled) is a database profile option used to configure logging while (FND: Diagnostics) is used to configure logging to screen.
    Logging to screen provides:
    - The ability to enable logging on a per HTTP request or per HTTP session basis.
    - Dynamic configuration which does not require restarting any servers or changing any log profiles.
    - A convenient lightweight mechanism to diagnose performance issues. Each message is timestamped to the millisecond.
If Logging to Screen is enabled, then the Java log messages generated for a particular HTTP Request-Response are buffered in memory and appended to the end of the generated HTML page.
This feature does not affect any existing configurations of file or database logging. File or database logging continues to behave per the configured middle tier log properties and/or log profile values.
Note that this mechanism currently provides only Java layer messages. Regular file or database logging should be used if messages from other layers (e.g., PL/SQL) are needed.
    In brief ..
FND: Diagnostics (Self-Service) --> To see this, Login as that user and navigate to self-service, Click the Diagnostics link in the upper right corner
    - Default = “No”
    - Recommendation = “No”
    - Requires APPS password to use Examine function
    - Usually set to “Yes” during development

  • HT1229 what is the best method for using a iphoto with an external hard drive for greater capacity?

what is the best method for using a iphoto with an external hard drive for greater capacity?

Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

  • What color spaces/profiles are used?

I can’t find any information on the color
spaces/profiles/tags used for the Kuler color conversions.... can
    someone please help?
    Thanks

    The ICC-profiles should be selectable.
They should always show up behind the RGB and CMYK entries.
Also the used CMM should be selectable and documented on
    screen.
A colortransformation without knowing about these conditions
    is worthlessly.
There should be a information whether the created color fits
the RGB- or CMYK-Profile-Color-space or was cropped (by the
    rendering intent).
It would be nice if kuler would be allowed by the user of
that website to use the actuell CS3-Colorsetup (selected on the
    users computer).
If a color theme is stored and published, all this should be
    documented with that theme.
    Thanks

  • How to use 1 Iphoto library on a MacBooKPro by several users

    Hello,
does anyone know, if you can use 1 Iphoto Library by several users on a MacBookPro (OS Lion, Iphoto11)
    thnx Ruud Rijkse

For iPhoto 09 (version 8.0.2) and later:
    What you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc.
Quit iPhoto in both accounts. Move the Library to the Users / Shared Folder
(You can also use an external HD set to ignore permissions, a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk.)
In each account in turn: Double click on the Library to open it. (You may be asked to repair the Library Permissions.) From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.
    Regards
    TD

  • I am not able to open iPhoto, when I have used the iPhoto Library Manager, I get the message that "the iPhoto Library folder could not be found" Help!

Help!  I can't open the iPhoto!  I have os x 10.5.8 and I have tried using the iPhoto Library Manager only to find out that the folder for the iPhoto Library could not be found.
I have also tried the Fix #1 from the user Old Toad who said to delete the preference file :com.appleiPhoto.plist - I could do that, but I couldn't figure out how to delete iPhoto's cache fie, Cache.db because I couldn't find it?  I'm not sure how to find the file by it's directory path name of HD/User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto .
    Help is very much appreciated!

Download and use  Find Any File  to search for "Library6.iPhoto".  It's a file that is present in every iPhoto library.  If you don't find one on your hard drive then your library has gone missing entirely.
Another thing you can try is to use the Search For - All Images feature in the Finder window to see if you can see any of your photos.
That will tell you if they are on your hard drive but somewhere other than the library.
What do you see when you insert the DVD into the optical drive?  Can you open it and any folders on the disk?  If the disk is titled iPhoto Library  then open the disk, the the iPhoto Library folder and finally the Originals folder.  Check the subfolders to see if your photos are there.
Your original photo files will be in the Originals subfolders.

  • Can't open iPhoto "To open your library with this version of iPhoto, it first needs to be prepared. To prepare the library, use the iPhoto Library Upgrader available from Apple." Doesn't work...

I've tried to open my iPhoto and a message box opens up and reads "To open your library with this version of iPhoto, it first needs to be prepared. To prepare the library, use the iPhoto Library Upgrader available from Apple." I update this and this message continues to pop up. I've even tried to rebuild it, but no matter what I do the same message appears and iPhoto still wpn't open. Can somebody please help me?!

i'm having the same problem with my iMac (Mac OS X 10.7.5) . i haven't really made any updates to it and yesterday when i tried to access the iPhoto library of my MBP (from my iMac) is when problems started. The iPhoto on the iMac initially said I need to install the recent version of the iPhoto. Since I can't find a 9.0 download, I went to buy the iPhoto on the App store.
When I tried to install iPhoto (version 9.4.3) to the iMac, I got this message:
The iPhoto Library Upgrader is a tool that prepares libraries from iPhoto 5 or earlier, so you can upgrade them with the current version of iPhoto. You can download the tool here.
Note: If your library is from iPhoto 6 or later, this tool is not required."
I then installed the iPhone Library Upgrader, but I got the same prompt:
'You can't open your current photo library using this version of the iPhoto. You have made changes to your library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto."
I guess this takes me back to square one? I am inclined to buy the iLife on eBay with the iPhoto 9.0 version, but needed to know if this is the case before I unfortunately bite the bullet.
