What program do I use to burn from iMovie to a DVD?

I don't have iDVD and I can't seem to find it for purchase on the App Store.
I need to burn a created project on iMovie to a blank DVD.

Buy iDVD.
Yes, there are other programs that will put a movie on a DVD.   I have tried most of the other substitutes.  None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD. IDVD is specifically designed to work with iMovie.

With iDVD you can easily and quickly create DVDs with menus and graphics almost on the level of what Hollywood can do.
IDVD is easy to get. It is available on disk as part of iLife 11.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.  (works with all Mac OS 10.5 and newer.)

  • What programs can I use to burn CD's and DVD's?

just wondering what universal software can i use to burn cd's, dvd's, or both. i used nero on my pc, which i was able to burn both cd's and dvd's. so if there is something similar, that would be good. just figuring out my options as an intel mac owner.

I don't use toast, so I'm not sure what kind of bells and whistles it has. But for DVD burning iDVD is excellent. It includes a bunch of great preset menu options and supports both 4:3 and 16:9 formats.
For CDs, I'm not sure what kind of "extra features" you could have, but iTunes does everything I've ever needed. Why not test it out first and see if you even need Toast?
    Hope that helps,
    Cameron

  • What program can I use in CC to convert MP4 to DVD?

I am sure this has been asked but I can't find any clear answers on what to use without downloading the CS6. Is there not an app in CC that I can use to convert MP4 to DVD?

    CS5-thru-CC PPro/Encore tutorial list http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1448923 may help
The bottom section of the tutorial link above has several Adobe links, and other information, on downloading Premiere Pro CS6 and the bundled Encore CS6, and the TWO ADDED downloads for the Encore library content, to author a DVD or BluRay... and the tutorial list includes learning how to use Encore... pay particular attention to the picture in reply 3 at this link - https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1516173 (picture first posted by Ann Bens and reposted by Stan Jones)

  • What program should I use and various??

    Hi friends,
    I have two questions:
    1) So I have finished my project...how do I fit it onto one dvd? Quicktime conversion??
    2) What program should I use to burn to dvd? I have a macbook.
    3) How do I make chapters on the dvd??
Thank you so much for assisting

    1. Export a QuickTime Movie. Do NOT use QT Conversion. Import the resulting QuickTime file into the DVD creation program. Don't worry about file size at this point. The DVD authoring application will compress and encode. You can fit about two hours of video on a single-layer DVD.
    2. The simplest method is to use iDVD which probably came with the MacBook.
    3. Playing the FCE Timeline, press M twice, name the chapter if you wish and click the Add Chapter Marker button in the resulting window. Then when you export, make sure to choose to include Chapter markers in the Export window. Within iDVD, I think you can also set iDVD to include a chapter marker at set intervals, but not at specific points.
Not to be snarky, but that seems like three questions...
    Good luck.

  • Burn from iMovie on new Mac Mini

I just purchased a new Mac Mini and I created a project from iMovie '11, but iDVD is no longer on them, so what is the best way to burn an iMovie project to DVD?

If you have access to a different mac with optical drive, transfer the file to it and burn it there. Or use target disk mode between the two systems via FireWire ( as opposed to wifi or ethernet networking to that machine ... which is too slow and unreliable to transfer that much data and will give you coasters)
If you only have one mac, the new mac mini, your best and easiest bet is an external USB dvd burner. Apple sells one.
There are many reports in this forum and others of people who have bought a USB dvd burner drive from another manufacturer for as little as $30 and used that successfully.

    Hello Tehuti2,
There are a few ways to transfer contacts from your computer to your iPhone.  I found an article that provides steps on how to import a vCard to iCloud.com:
    iCloud: Import a vCard
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3605
If your PC fits the following specifications, you can setup iCloud to automatically sync contacts with your iPhone:
    Microsoft Windows 7 or 8
iCloud Control Panel 2.1.2 or later
iTunes 11 or later (for iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match)
    Outlook 2007 or 2010 or iCloud.com
Safari 5.1.7 or later or Internet Explorer 9 or later (for iCloud.com and Bookmarks), Firefox 16 or later or Chrome 23 or later (for iCloud.com)

  • I feel I must move beyond iMovie, what program should I use ?

I have been happily using iMovie and iDVD from versions 1 through 6.  iMovie 08 was so bad that Apple made iMovie 06 available as a free download for buyers of iMovie 08. The newer iMovies were better, but they seemed “dumbed down” (even for me).  Now, I am shocked and horrified to learn that the latest iMovie does not even set chapter markers!
So, I have continued to use iMovie 06 and iDVD 08 (they seem to work fine under OS 10.9.4).   iMovie 06 is now 8 years old!  I feel compelled to move forward. A lot of my work is DV.    In the past, most of my source material came out of S-Video.   I used a Canopus ADVC300 analog-to-digital converter that gave good results.   Going forward, I will have more video utilizing Component Video, or HDMI.
I am looking into 2 possibilities,  Adobe Premiere elements 12, or.........Final Cut Pro X.
The final result of my work is almost always a DVD.   It is hard for me to move from iMovie and iDVD.  I never read the manuals for either program, yet,  I was able to produce DVDs with nice menus and overall quality close to Hollywood.
It looks like Final Cut Pro X 'can' make a DVD directly without other software.  However, from what I have seen on YouTube the result is primitive compared to what iDVD was doing 10 years ago.
Adobe Premiere elements 12 can make nice DVDs and Blu-ray's directly.  I have no problem with using a separate program to make DVDs but I haven't got a clue how to do that with Final Cut Pro X.   I suppose I can still use iDVD, but now I'm back to using discontinued software.
I do not need any of the high-powered affects capability that Final Cut Pro X  possesses.  My “movie-making” is mostly confined to simple editing (the old iMovie 06 did all I needed).
Frankly, one motivation for choosing Final Cut Pro X, is the excellent, compassionate and understanding support that the kind people on this very forum provide.  So, what program should I use?

to turn perspective for a second by 180°:
Why do you want to switch to a new editor anyhow?
    • iM-a never did discs - that was iDVDs job = no big change in your workflow
    • iDVD is still working, and aside obsolete, complex and $$$$ DVDSP (part of obsolete FC/p) or Encore (part of Adobes CC rent package) your only option left to create disks on MacOS is indeed iDVD (...ok, there's Toast and Burn and some weird 'shareware'-stuff...)..
    • iMovie-b supports the new HDef formats (AVCHD) - you mentioned converters and DVDs = no HDef in use, in your habitat, correct?
    • if you don't need FCPX' bling-bling (I can't imagine that ) - why not using FCPX-lite = iMovie? 15$ ...
    • chapters could be done in iDVD - just to mention that ............
    • AP and FCPX are following very different concepts in usage - my personal preference is 200% on FCPX, … I was one of the loudest nay-sayers, when iM08 araised, meanwhile, FCPX is my dream!! AP (tested it) is way too complex, crowded, 'optionalized' and did I mention 'complex' for me. A bit like Windows vs. MacOS: 'everything goes' (incl. getting lost) vs. 'convenience' (incl. restrictions) ... After 2y of practice, I'm editing my weekly hobby-projects with 6-cam-Multicam, incl. tons of  custom graphics, slow-mow, effects (soccer games) in less than 2h ... awesome!
    summary:
    • why switching?
    • use iMovie10 + iDVD
    • Premiere (or Premiere Elements!) and FCPX are both avail as fee trial ... test  it - but you need iDVD anyhow
    • 'disks'  is a dwindling niché, for years!- consider to switch to 'other' distribution options
... what are 'chapters' anyhow??... (kid din'!)

The Disk Utility, Carbon Copy Cloner, SuperDuper, or similar software. For best results, place the second drive inside the computer or in a FireWire enclosure and boot the computer from it before removing the internal drive.

  • What program do I use to open a .bundle?

This sounds like a rediculous question. Also you might not think it was applicable to windows compatibility but it is. I downloaded a dmg of a program called "WINE" (stands for WINE Is Not an Emulator). In it, it has a file called Wine.bundle. Well when I double click on it, it asks me what program I should use to open it. I frankly have no idea... I mean I thought .bundles were just something it opened up. Just like an exe (or more like a zip file I guess) on a windows machine. It's really annoying... I just wanna play a game...:(

The simple and short answer is that .bundle files are helpers for something else to use. They're not necessarily the "application" that you would double-click and execute.
Your version of Wine may require that X11 also be installed from your Mac OS X installer disks.

I would like to create a document with imbedded video, to email, and airdrop to an iPad mini. What program should I use?

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities
I would suggest using Apple's Pages which allows support for imbedding videos from the device's camera roll. Pages also allows for sharing via email, Air Drop, and Messages.

  • What programs should I use to make an interactive ebook for ipad?

What programs should I use to make an interactive children's ebook for ipad?

Adobe has a DPS add-on for InDesign (http://www.adobe.com/products/digital-publishing-suite-single.html) and it handles all the page transitions as well as swapping between portait and landscape. I think the way most people work is the pages are built in inDesign and regions of animation from EA are added second. But if every page had full screen animation, I suppose you may want to build your pages in Edge first.

  • What program is apple using to make there website?

I was wondering (because I would like a website as powerful as apples and as easy to use as iweb). What Program did apple use to make there website and do you need multiple programs to do those things such as. the way buttons are animated not using flash, and the search function, and forums and store, etc.
Anyways, this aught to be an interesting discussion

There is really no way to know what Apple uses to build their site.
There is no reason why you can not make a good looking, fast site in iWeb. The only reason why your website may not look as nice is because you are probably not a professional website designer like the people behind Apple's site.
If your site is too slow consider reducing the number of images you use on your website, making sure your text is not converted to images, you switch to a real web hosting provider and not rely on MobileMe, and you run your iWeb website through a web site optimizer.

  • Burning a project from imovie to a dvd using idvd with no superdrive

Hi i have a mini mac and i have made a movie in imovie and put it on to a project in idvd i had it all and ready to burn to a dvd and it wont let me it keeps saying that i dont have a superdrive and i need an external burning device??? i have a pye video vhs to dvd burner that plays dvds and vhs's will this work?? if not what do i need?? and how do i do it???? completly new to mac!! please help!!!!

    step one:
Burn a disc image to the desktop from iDvd's file menu. That doesn't require an S-Drive.
    step two:
Connect an external burner to your mac and then burn the disc image to Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, or Maxell Dvd-r at 4x.
    or
Connect your mac to another mac with an S-Drive via FW cable or save the disc image to an ext. hdd and then take that external device to the mac you wish to use to burn the disc image to dvd-r.
