I installed it, and after some tweaking it looks really nice. But now I am ready for the next step: using a script so that I can see my gmail inbox. I downloaded a script from the conky website (gmail.pl), but I don'y understand this info:
# Put this in ~/.gmail/ and use "crontab -e" to add something like

So I added it in ~/.gmail, but I don't know what " use "crontab -e" to add something like "* * * * * ~/.gmail/gmail.pl > /dev/null" means, And now, I do not have a .gmail_top which can be executed from .conkyrc.
What command should I exactly issue, and how do I get a .gmail_top executable?

Today I was running the following programs:
Mail.app
TextWrangler
Safari
iTunes
I was composing an email when an error message popped up. It was a small self-contained window with an image of coins and a money bag on the left side and text that read:
An unexpected error has occurred
(ValueError: invalid literal for float(): N/A)
There were 2 buttons, "Quit" and "Continue". Continue was highlighted. Software Update then also popped up. I took screenshots of the message and I then opened up the Activity Monitor and took screenshots of all of the processes running. I would post the images, but I don't know if that is possible on this site. I hit the quit button and there seems to be no problems.
Anyway, I am very curious about what program, process, or plugin, put up this message, especially since I was not running any program related to finance. Does anyone have any ideas??

I'm in no way affiliated with this product, yet I'm very curious to learn what kind of program created it?
I work in Maya, 3D max, and other various 3D programs, but this looks completely 2D.. Would this have been made entirely with Flash?
I'm not too familiar with Flash, and thought I'd seek some expert opinions.

Very nicely done. I think that could be done in any 3D program (non-photoreal rendering) with a bit of effects added with a compositing program.
It could also be all done in PShop/AfterEffects if they have a great team of illustrators.

I hope someone can clue me in on how this PDF was made where I'm guessing if you have the regular Adobe Acrobat reader you can edit/interact with the file. I really love to know if there is a tutorial that can teach me how to create empty square text field for edits by other people. Here's the link

I was thinking the document could have been done in Adobe InDesign or even Microsoft Word but I doubt it. And I think there might be some XML involves that I have never learn how to or know what it is.

There are any number of programs that can create a PDF form. Adobe has Acrobat, LiveCycle Designer, LiveCycle ES, InDesign. Third party providers inlcude Open Office Org and Nitro PDF. It is even possible to add form fields in a PS file and have Distiller create the form. You might want to look at the Acrobat Users Community for tutorials and eSeminars about creating forms.

Ok so I am using flash to build my personal website. I want to build a jellyfish animation similar to the one in this website: http://www.apparition.com.au/ but I have no idea how they made it.
In flash, it doesn't let you use envelope transform tool on Bitmaps, so therefore I can't get the 'swaying' jellyfish look. To do it in flash it seems that I can only envelope 1 primitive vector shape at a time. Should I just make an animated GIF in photoshop and import it into my flash movie? What would you do and how do you think the designer made the one I linked to above? Keep in mind that it's for the net so file size needs to be minimal. It would also be good if I didn't have to use action script as I want to control the way it sways in detail. Thanks for your tips and advice!

Can someone help me? How do I change the option to pick where or what program I want to open a file after I've downloaded it? I tried to look for an option for this and can't find it anywhere.

For example I download a file and I click on it and there will sometimes be a window that opens saying what program I want to open the file with? And then it'll also have a check box saying if I want to use this program for all files I download. I can't change it when I download the file because that one file I keep downloading keeps crashing my Firefox and I have to force quit. It's really getting on my nerves. It's an online statement I'm trying to view and I want to get rid of that problem!! Is there anyway to change that option without going to that download page?

I would recommend going into device manager on your PC and making sure that you have correctly installed the IR dongle. Also what version of hotsync manager are you currently using?

I am using Linux mint 12 with firefox.

This has only happened since reinstalling my system a couple of weeks ago.
I am not really interested in what a json file is I simply want to get rid of this pop up box.

Since installing Snow Leopard and Lion two weeks ago, my iTunes program opens seemingly at will. It usually starts playing music, too. What is causing this?

Since installing Snow Leopard and then Lion on my Intel-based iMac two weeks ago, my iTunes program seems to open at will whenever the computer is on. It often begins playing music, as well. What is causing this and how do I make it stop?

There are ways to minimize, mitigate, and help avoid a lot of problems.
Bootable backups.
Zeroing a drive twice before using, and format it with SL DVD Apple Disk Utility for sure.
Even a clean install should import old apps without having to reauthorize.
If you must do an upgrade, do it from the SL DVD, after repairing the drive and be sure to use the SL version of Alsoft Disk Warrior (4.2).
Wait six months before jumping on a new OS.
10% is still too many. Yes, it is more sensitive to RAM and hard drive errors, doesn't like some controllers; most ext hdd cases; and enough software to make for test-only status. And it only IDs some known incompatible applications, drivers, extensions, etc and does not remove even those always in best manner.
Plus, there are problems with the new Rosetta and the cache files it now uses. So some apps and plug-ins will cause more trouble. Not all are ready. Good reason to hold off for the months it takes.
Other devices act different as far as on/off behavior.
(Migrating from G5s to Mac Pro can cause all kinds of problems, weird behavior, sluggish system, and why anyone that went down that road was strongly recommended to NOT use Migration Assistant for any of their applications, and to ONLY do clean/fresh installs of any apps. If you skipped that day, didn't read the Guide to M.A., or didn't want to do fresh installs then, your system could have been on borrowed time. If you did do clean install of applications, great.
Installing SL can result in a corrupt directory - I think and it "seems" to be happening, but no real proof, just gut feeling and instinct (underlying file system problem? weak sectors that pre-existed waiting to happen?).

when choosing a song or songs, choosing file, edit, etc,. whatever command I
choose it just suddenly stops. I can issue five commands and watch each one
respond in 30 second to two minute intervals. I can issue several commands,
even shutting down, and it will do all but takes several minutes to do so.
My itunes program was working fine when this problem suddenly arose.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

Firefox keeps asking me what program to use to open file types even though I have selected one and checked "do this for all files of this type" going foward

I am working in Windows and every time I open an attachment, Firefox asks what program to use to open files of this type. I always select the proper program and then check the box that says use this program for all future files of this type. In spite of that, the program continues to ask for every file. How do I turn off this feature and just have the program remember the correct program to use for each type of file extension?

Regardless of your download preferences, web servers can trigger a download prompt by sending either the ''Content-Type: application/octet-stream'' or the ''Content-Disposition: attachment'' header. You can check if that's the case by examining the server response headers in the [https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Tools/Web_Console Web Console].
For the latter problem install the InlineDisposition add-on and see if it helps.
