What program(s) opens the airport utility download file
I am installing on PC and have nothing to open a dmg file - any suggestions

That won't work as the Extreme does not have a built-in modem. Your older router must be a combination modem & router or gateway device.

This is the correct connection for the Ethernet cable. The key now is to reconfigure the Extreme as a bridge. This will allow the existing router to continue to provide the necessary NAT & DHCP services for network clients connected to either router to gain Internet access.
To configure the Extreme as a bridge, either connect to the Extreme's wireless network or temporarily connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to one of the LAN port of the Extreme, and then, using the AirPort Utility, change the following these setting:
AirPort Utility (v5.x) > Select the Extreme > Manual Setup > Internet > Internet Connection tab
Connection Sharing: Off (Bridge Mode)
Click Update to apply the new settings.

Script to get excel to open the last (latest) downloaded file
Here is the plan. I have a script to have safari go download a file. Then I need script to have excel open the latest downloaded file from that folder. There will be other files in the folder and I cant do it by name.

Do you mean that you want backup your VSO source files to a local machine folder using script(execute tf get command line)? if yes, we suggest you backup all your VSO source files in a specified local workspace folder on your client machine. Please try below
example steps:
On your client, connect to your VSO using VS, then mapping your VSO DefaultCollection(the root node) to D:\VSO folder in Source Control Explorer.
Open Command Prompt, and execute this command ‘D:\VSO>tf get /version:T /recursive’ to get latest source in D:\VSO folder.
After executed that command successfully, you will find all your VSO source files be got in that D:\VSO folder on your client. Then you can create a script file to run this D:\VSO>tf get /version:T /recursive command on your client periodically, it will
backup all your VSO latest source to this D:\VSO folder on your client.

My early 2011 MacBook Pro 15 inch is currently online, with good (albeit slow... although that is due to the service provider) internet connectivity via wifi. The icon shows that I am connected to my network with full bars. I use an Airport Time Capsule as my wireless router, purchased late last year, and it has worked well until now. Internet comes via cable modem (provided by the cable company), and can be patchy and quirky, so I am often rebooting the modem, but the airport wifi router typically does not need to be rebooted with the modem to regain connectivity.
My problem is that my time capsule has not backed up in more than 10 days. When I went to investigate this, it claims it cannot find the time capsule. when I open the airport utility on the laptop it claims there is no airport connected (although there is the green light next to the internet icon). I checked on this using the airport utility app on my iPad, and it has no problem identifying the router as an airport time capsule. I did update the firmware on the router using the app on the iPad, but it made no difference to the laptop.
First question: Do you think this is a problem with the Airport router or my MacBook?
Second Question: what can I do about it?
My MacBook feels like it is on its last legs anyway, so I am currently looking at replacements, but I really want to make sure it is backed up in case it dies before the new one arrives!! On the other hand, we have serious power issues here, and while the router is on a UPS, the UPS battery is basically fried and conks out in about 5 minutes, so the Airport is constantly being cycled on and off, which I worry could also be causing problems with the proper operation of the device (although the fact that it works with the iPad makes me think that is not the case... but I don't really know).

I have 2 Airport Base stations that I am trying to use to extend my WiFi but I cant get them to work. I downloade Airport Utility to windows 7 and it doesnt recognize any devices. I have them plugged in and they have a solid yellow light. Does anyone know what I need to do to get them to work. Your help would be appreciated.

I would recommend that you start by performing a "factory default" reset on all of your AirPort base stations. Once completed power them all down. While powered-down, temporarily connect both Express base stations to an open LAN port on the Extreme using separate Ethernet cables.
Once connected, power up the Extreme; wait five minutes, and then, power up each of the Express base stations. Which you power-up first doesn't matter.
Now start up the AirPort Utility on the PC. It should now "see" all three base stations. If so, go ahead and configure your extended network.

I am trying to setup my new time capsule but it is not working. after entering the airport utility and locating the TC, after I tell the program to continue, the unit just disappear from the menu and the setup menu says there is an error. I tried using the wireless connection, and also the cable, but none worked. Any idea of what could be happening?
What are you setting it up as.. join wireless network .. the very worst setup, it will disappear.. reboot the whole network in order modem. router TC.. clients and it will likely reappear.
Tell us what network setup you are using..
If you setup with cable to a computer completely isolated from the network with TC also isolated.. finish the setup of everything you want. .before update.. then plug it into the network. .then restart everything in correct order.. it will work most of the time. -
I downloaded an update for my Safari web browser to "snow leopard". When I click on the .dmg file, a window opens up with a .pkg file but when I click on the .pkg file I get a prompt saying that it doesn't know what program to open it with.
I suspect if you're trying to open a file in 08 that's been opened in 09 the file has been updated to 09 and will not open in 08.

I have the PE Mac 8 version and have downloaded the program.I opened the initializer which halts 90% through checking my system profile. I have all the system requirements, what is wrong?

I downloaded the program thinking the purchased DVD was at fault but as I obtain the same result with both, there must be
something wrong with my computer set up or it might be OSX 10.6.1 that is the problem! I will have to wait till monday. -
Version 5.5.2 (552.11). Updates tells me this is the up to date version, however I keep seeing a window asking me to update to 5.5.3. I try this and normally receive 'software is up to date'. Today something downloaded but I cannot remember what.
Also, when opening up Airport Utility I don't always get to find the airport extreme. Sometimes I do. Every time I try I am also able to carry out a backup using timemachine and can also see the drive on Finder.
In addition,
I have a 1TB drive hooked up to the USB port. I cannot see it in finder even though I seem to be able to see Time Machine Backups under 'Devices',
I cannot find a way to access the 1TB drive. I have hooked it to a local USB on my Macbook Pro and it works fine.Just bought my Time Capsule today and had the same issue, or actually I did see it at first then allowed some software updates but after I restarted my computer, Airport Utility no longer recognized it. Solution: I had to reset my TC to factory settings by pushing the end of a pin into the Reset button (tiny hole in the back of your TC) and holding a few seconds until the amber light starts flashing rapidly. After that try the Airport Utility again and this worked for me. Good luck!

I downloaded the Airport Utility 5.6 for OS X Lion and when I finish installing it sends a message that says "the instalation failed contact your software provider" And seems like thats the solution so I can use my time capsule.

1) Are you trying to connect your Time Capsule to your modem using an Ethernet cable?
2) What is the make and model number of your modem?
3) Are you still using Lion (10.7.5) as you indicate in your profile, or have you updated to Mountain Lion or Mavericks?
I understand that things appear clear to you there, but we cannot read your mind or see your network, so we only know as much about your problem and your network as you can tell us. -
Has anyone download the Airport Utility app on their iPod Touch or iPhone?
Just was wondering if anyone downloaded the Airport Utility app from the app store onto their iPod Touch, iPad or iPhone? You can see a picture of your Time Capsule's nework and a picture of your Time Capsule right on your iOS device (iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad) and it's quite nice that you can actually see a picture of your network. It shows current status and a diagram/picture of your network. You can also make changes to your network right from your iOS device. This is a nice feature to have on your portable device.
I was just wondering how anyone else liked this feature?Here's what Apple recommends:

My iPAD can use the internet through my Airport Extreme, but the Airport Utility does not see the device so I can't set a guest password.
If your Mac is using the Lion operating system with recent updates, it will be necessary to download and install AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility 5.6
Select the AirPort Extreme and click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab just below the row of icons
Click the Wireless Network Options button
Remove the check mark next to Create a closed network
Click Done, then click Update to save the new settings and allow 25-30 seconds for the AirPort Extreme to restart -
The airport utility does not find my Airport Extreme. I tried to reset the base, but I can`t make it. What can i do?
Please perform a Factory Default Reset exactly as follows:
Pull the power plug from the back of the AirPort Extreme (AEBS)
Wait a minute
Hold in the reset button first and continue to hold it in for at least 7-8 more seconds while you simultaneously plug the power back in to the AEBS
Release the reset button after the 7-8 second hold period
Allow 30-45 seconds for the AEBS to restart
Temporarily, connect a spare Ethernet cable from your Mac to one of the LAN <-> ports on the AEBS
Open AirPort Utility to see if can now see the AEBS -
My son gave me his airport express router and I use it to connect to the internet, but I cannot add the security since I don't have the CD that contains the Airport Utility (didn't even konw what this was until I checked apple website). Can I download this or do I need to order the CD? Any other options?

What do the symbols on the airport utility user interface mean?
I just set up my new 3TB time capsule and notice the number 1 in a red circle next to the time capsule icon in the airport utilitiy user interface. What does this mean? There is also a blinking yellow light next to the TC icon in the same screen of the airport utility GUI but the internet is solid green. The red button was a "2" when I first set up but changed to 1 when I updated the firmware.

It means that there is one update available for the Time Capsule. Click directly on the "red 1" and then click Update.
There is also a blinking yellow light next to the TC icon in the same screen
A blinking amber light indicates that the TC has a message for you. To see it, click directly on the amber dot...and another window will open to explain the issue and offer a suggested action to remedy things. It is possible that the "message" is that an update is available for the TC. -
