What program to use to watch movies transferred from S4 to my laptop

Hi. I have copied/transferred videos taken on my S4 to my HP Pavilion laptop. The OS is Vista Home Premium. I play them through iTunes since they are .mp4 files. However, the video is jerky and not in sync with the audio. Is there anything I can do so the video and audio play together, smoothly, like the files play on the S4? Or, is there a better program to use to play .mp4 files?
Thanks for your help.

I use VLC all the time for any video formats that are not native to Apple OSX.  Which is usually MPG2 and WMV.  Pretty much every other video format plays within quicktime with no problem.  (although MPG2 works sometimes).
VLC is a good player to play pretty much ANY video type.  It even plays those pesky proprietary formats that many Hard Drive Camcorders compress the video to.  So you should be good to go.
Now... a note about the program.  It does have some sort of video render function that will allow you to recompress from one format to another.  such as .MOV to MPG or something to that effect.
My advice... Don't even try.  It's for advanced users.  I'm an advanced video editor and even after 4 years, I still can't figure out that part of VLC.  I just stick to other programs for that.
But just to watch difficult video formats... this is a really good program to use because it will play EVERYTHING!
Good luck.

What can I downloadto watch movies online with no use of iTunes

It depends upon what sites you want to watch them on. Do they have their own apps ? If they don't and the sites are flash-based (which isn't supported on the iPad) then you could try browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter, Puffin and Photon which 'work' on some sites.

  • What do I need to watch moves on my tv from my imac?

Ok I want to watch movies on my tv with my imac. I have the 27-inch, Mid 2011 here is the back of the tv:
What will I need to watch movies on my tv from my imac?

A Mid 2011 iMac has got Thunderbolt, which can be used to connect the iMac to your TV through HDMI.
Get a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, and a HDMI cable. You have to connect the Mini DisplayPort adapter to the Thunderbolt port of the iMac. Image will appear on your TV automatically, unless you have to set the TV in HDMI mode. Another option is to get a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable, so you don't have to buy an adapter and a cable

I downloaded Firefox for the first time and watched the overview video. It is very engaging - I'd like to know what programs were used to create it. Camtasia, Captivate, Flash for example.

Ipod touch 4 i can no longer watch movies, transferred to the ipod, on videos app it simply says loading and then stops. On my ipad mini with older ios it still works. So how can I fix this I have tried converting videos into different formats but it will not work.
Is IOS 8 really appropriate with Ipod Touch 4, if the older Ipods do not have the capability then why are we prompted to install new operating systems.
    Thanks.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all videos and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Firefox keeps asking me what program to use to open file types even though I have selected one and checked "do this for all files of this type" going foward

I am working in Windows and every time I open an attachment, Firefox asks what program to use to open files of this type. I always select the proper program and then check the box that says use this program for all future files of this type. In spite of that, the program continues to ask for every file. How do I turn off this feature and just have the program remember the correct program to use for each type of file extension?

Regardless of your download preferences, web servers can trigger a download prompt by sending either the ''Content-Type: application/octet-stream'' or the ''Content-Disposition: attachment'' header. You can check if that's the case by examining the server response headers in the [https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Tools/Web_Console Web Console].
For the latter problem install the InlineDisposition add-on and see if it helps.

If the problem persists, post back here with either an example link or a screenshot of the relevant response headers in the Web Console.

    Open TCP Port: 20226
    Open TCP Port: 20227

    Open TCP Port: 47807
I am using netbarrier on my computer.
    Thank you for your help.

This document may help with your first question:
"Well known" TCP and UDP ports used by Apple Software Products
This IANA listing of the port numbers is also useful, if more detailed.
You can use the Sharing tab of System Preferences to configure the firewall to block all ports except for those specified; you can use the command-line ipfw utility to set up more detailed firewall configurations.

  • What's the best way to move files from my 2012 iMac to my 2014 MBP?

What’s a good way to move files from my 2012 iMac to my MBP?
I prefer to do graphic work on my 21-inch iMac (2012 version). But when I travel I need to copy files to my 2014 MBP. I learned that my 2012 iMac is too old for use of AirDrop, so I’m copying and moving files with a flash drive. That seems slow and clumsy. Is there a better way?

Target Disk Mode would provide a direct connection between the two Macs:

  • I have an IMac intel  OS x 10.8.2, I would like to know what is the best program to use to make movies and burn them to a DVD???

What is the best program to use that will be compatable with a IMac intel OS x 10.8.2, that will allow me to make movies, add music then burn it to a DVD.  The program I have now, will make the movie but will not burn it???

    You want iDVD.
Purchase iLife 11  (includes iDVD) on disk.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.

Yes, there are programs that will put a movie on a DVD.   I have tried most of the other substitutes including Toast, Burn, DVD Creator, Wondershare, and others.  None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD.

  • How to make a working IMAGE ofperfect system? What program to use? NoRestor

OK, being a PC guy (sigh) I am used to system restore.
A few things. The other day for no reason iDVD stopped playing sound, for the life of me I could not fix it, garage band played fine....as well as Logic Express, but no for iDVD which leads me to this. I had to reinstall OS and all the software again.
Is there something similar to system restore?
Or, how does one make a working copy of his/her image when it is working great and then use that for the re-install.
I assume from the tiger disc this is where you say use recover image or something like that. What programs (if there is no restore) are there for making a working image of your system? Will toast do it? I don't want a toast image but a DMG image.....after I install FC, iWork, iLife, Garage loops, where looking at 30GB at least, but will do it if it means the next time something goes wrong instead of reinstalling all I have to do is mount this recoverable image!
    Thanks again!

Here's what I do. This is my backup routine - seriously.
    - Get Info on your main drive, copy down the # of bytes used. Divide by 1024 then by 1024 again. This gives you the number of MB used on your system
    - Open Disk Utility. Select FILE > New...> Blank Disk Image
    - from the size drop down, select Custom, then enter the MB number you calculated plus about 0.2.
    - Save as read/write, no encryption, to an external drive (firewire is more reliable in my experience but USB should work) - use a descriptive name so you know it's a backup. If your image is big, this will take a while as D.Util. writes a file the same size as your main drive.
    - Your new disk image will show up in Disk Utility. Verify the bytes available is more than the bytes on your main drive (highlight them in turn and look at the info at the bottom of the D.Util. window)
    - Now click the Restore button. Drag your main drive into the Source slot and the mounted disk image into the destination slot. No need to erase destination because you just overwrote those bytes creating the contiguous .DMG file.
    - Click Restore and go watch a movie.
When D.U. is done your main drive will now be in a .dmg file. To get your drive back, boot from the install CD, select D.U. from the Utilities menu, restore from the image (click the Image button on the restore screen to mount and browse external drives). This time you put the mounted image file in the source and your main drive in the destination slot. Watch another movie.
I suggest you test this between external drives first in case you think it's black magic. You can then boot from the second restored drive to verify that yes indeed it's a perfect clone and it's bootable (need FW drives since you can't boot from USB). If your restore doesn't work just remember your backup is on that .dmg file and don't give up. But I've never had a problem (knocking on my wooden head).
This is my routine once a month. Between times I backup just changed files as needed. I also have a "clean" configuration of my laptop from the last time I wiped it and re-installed all my apps. That process took 2 days, but when I restore the clean it takes maybe an hour - much better than finding all my disks and serial numbers again, and wasting 2 days.
Let us know if this is helpful,
    Ed

  • What is the best program to use to burn dvd's from iMovie?  I guess with ilife, idvd doesn't come with it anymore...

Please recommend a good program to use.  I just want to be able to put my movies from imovie to dvd for my family to watch on regular dvd player. I have been exporting it out to my home computer and burning with adobe premerie but gettings sick of having to use two computers.  Thanks for any info you can provide.

So is there no app on my Macbook Pro Retina with Mountain Lion that I can use to put IMovies on a disk??????
    Right.
    Seems really strange.
    Yes, very.
And IMovie 11 ( I assume it's the latest) has a menu item that says Share to IDVD. If they don't sell it anymore, why is it there?
It's there if you buy iDVD, you can purchase iLife 11  (includes iDVD) on disk.

  • What program to use to to down load DVD that will also play on my Ipad 3rd generation

Need to Know what DVD Program to use in order to copy movie dvd so that I can down load to my MacBook as well as my IPad ?

If your DVD is a homemade one, you can use handbrake to convert the video file into a MP4 that the iPad will play. If this is a commercial DVD you have to look elsewhere because the only way to convert it is to break the encryption and the TOS forbids us from helping you with that.

  • What program was used to make this video?  Is it After Effects?

I thought that this clip was funny: http://www.clipaday.com/videos/mccain-drums.
I want to make something similar for my brother, but I have no idea which program was used to make this.
I have the full Adobe CS3 Suite on my computer, including After Effects. I use Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator regularly for my job.
I want to try to monkey around with the video software at an amateur level. But before I buy any tutorials, I need to know what program to buy the tutorial for!!
    Thanks for any responses.

While the clip may not necessarily have been done in AE, you can achieve
these results. Careful masking along with good keyframing of the
movement properties will do it. There are other ways, but while this
might not be the fastest, would be the simplest and would provide a good
learning experience for someone starting out.
