  • Should I be creating folios for the ipad at 1024 x 768 or 2048 x 1536?

    Hi,
    Should I be creating folios for the ipad at 1024 x 768 or 2048 x 1536?
    Thanks

The older iPad generation cannot display folios in 2048x1536, they are too large for the screen of the iPad and the iPad2. If you want to make sure all iPad users can see your content go for 1024x768.
If you have the resources to create several renditions of your folio, create a high-definition rendition to target specifically users with a Retina iPad. Have a look at this article: Creating DPS content for different iPad models.

  • What program filenames are used to create PDFs?

We are in school where we restrict what type of programs the students can access by filenames (e.g. Word.exe, Excel.exe), using the Windows 2003 Group Policy "Run only Windows Applications" policy.
I've added all the programs I can in the Adobe folder into the policy(e.g. Acrobat.exe and so forth).
However, whenever the students try to create a PDF from an application, say Word 2003, the restrictions kick in "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your systems administrator."
Printing to physical printers works fine. It's only when I try to print to Adobe PDF does the error message occur. I can't find out what program adobe is trying to use to create the PDF.
I've tried process tracking and the registry to find out what uses it and I can't find it.
When I try as a student going into Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional and try to Create PDF....from file.... the "Starting the application which created the selected document. Please wait" appears then states: "Acrobat could not open xrd.doc' because it is wither not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an e-mail attachment and wasn't properly decoded).
To create an Adobe PDF document, go to the source application. Then print the document to Adobe PDF."
Which, of course, I've tried as the first step.
The clients are running Windows XP Service Pack 2, with Office 2003 as the program they are trying to create from.
The software being used is Adobe Web Premium CS3.
Server Enviorment: Windows 2003 Server Service Pack 2
Client Spec: Pentium 4, 512Mb-1024Mb of memory, 40 gig hard disk
Can anyone help? Some students need to create PDF documents as part of their coursework and time is looming.

    That worked!
Now getting the error message "Adobe PDF Creation cannot continue because Acrobat is not activated," but looking at the KB for a solution for that. It still prints out the PDF fine.
    Many Thanks.

  • How can I use Dropbox with pages for the iPad?

TO make a long story short, a thunderstorm fried my desktop iMac which was the computer I was sharing my Pages documents with.  I don't have an AirPrint compatible printer and I need to be able to print documents that I create in Pages.  Since it might be 6 months or more before we can replace the old computer, I would like to use DropBox to share files between my windows computers and the ones at where I volunteer.  I was told that Pages for the iPad was compatible so how can I make this work for me?

A google search on "pages ipad dropbox" will give you lots of stuff.  One is

  • What Program Should I use to create motion vector intro?

    Hello,
I am creating an intro to a series I am making for a client. I will be animating vector images that I have created in Illustrator by saving them as ".ai" files. In the past I have created a similar project using Premiere Pro CS6 using ".png" files in hopes of saving time and processing power.(However, the final product's quality was not where it should have been.) Would it be more beneficial to create this project in After Effects CS6? What are the benefits of using vector images in After Effects rather than Premiere? Are they any benefits? Also if you have any experience creating animation in these programs I would love to hear any advice seeing that I am new to this type of work.
    Thanks,
    Alex

What is the final destination of your animation, are you producing this to go on a DVD, or a website. After Effects is superior to Premiere in animation capabilities of vector objects (which really turn into bitmpaped objects for the final rendering no matter what program you use) , but Premiere is quicker for splicing videos together and putting transitions in between them.
If the final quality is not where it should have been your settings were not correct. My advice is to  use an experienced professional to do this job for you, until you learn more about quality control for animation.

  • Can I use my iPhone charger for the ipad

Is it okay to charge my ipad with my iphone 4 charger?

Don't try to charge ur iPhone with ur iPad charger or else u will regret like my iPhone battery life is very weak now..!!
You may be having problems with your battery. However, they were not caused by using your iPad charger. The iPad charger is compatible with the iPhone and can safely be used with it. If your phone is less than a year old, you may want to take it to your nearest Apple Store and have them take a look at it. If the battery is not functioning correctly, they will replace it for you.

  • I would like to use an external drive for the iPad I just purchased for my husband?  How can I accomplish this is there an accessory that would allow me to use a USB

I would like to use an external drive for storage on the ipad I just purchased.   How can I do this?

You can't attach drives to any iOS device.
Having said that, there are some drives with built-in wifi routers that a device can connect to.  These would behave like a cloud device in which some of your apps might be able to connect.
Try googling to find some brands.

  • Is normal for the ipad get hot on the back while in use?, Is normal for the ipad get hot on the back wile in use?

I have an ipad, when is being used it gets hot on the back, is that normal?

Warm is normal. The processor and battery generate heat. 'Too hot to handle', quite literally, is a good rule of thumb for when to stop using it and make an appointment to get your device checked out.

  • What program should I use to create print ads?

I am trying to create ads to go in magazines and am trying to figure out which program is the best to use.  I heard either Illustrator or InDesign.

That's way to broad and generic a question. Depending on what kind of ads, one would use possible Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat - all of them, not just one.

  • What program do I use to access Iphoto from my Ipad to my windows computer

I am trying to organize my photos via Iphoto on my Ipad, but I keep getting messages to plug my Ipad into my computer
to delete "events" and "albums" that I do not want - and also to share my photos via Facebook.  I have plugged into ITunes,
but my Iphoto app does not come up and I cannot see my photos.  Please help -- very frustrating!!

Your windows machine has a library called my pictures.  You can organize your pictures there.  Put your events into subdirectories as you want them, then sync those directories to the pad.
You can get pictures from the pad to the computer when you are plugged in.  Open 'my computer' and the pad should show up as a device, and from there you can select which pictures to upload to the computer.
I do not think the albums you create on the pad will migrate up to the computer, but subdirectories you set up on the computer will sync to the pad as events.

  • What to do if you forgot your password for the ipad 2

    help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If You Are Locked Out Or Have Forgotten Your Passcode or Just Need to Restore Your Device
      1. iTunes 10 for Mac- Update and restore software on iPod, iPhone, or iPad
      2. iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
      3. iOS- Understanding passcodes
If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
             necessary to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup. If you do not have a
backup to restore, then restore as New.
If you are restoring to fix a forgotten Restrictions Code or as a New device, then skip Step 9 and restore as New.

  • I would like to create a document with imbedded video, to email, and airdrop to an iPad mini. What program should I use?

I would like to create a document with imbedded video, to email, and airdrop to an iPad mini. What program should I use?

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities
I would suggest using Apple's Pages which allows support for imbedding videos from the device's camera roll. Pages also allows for sharing via email, Air Drop, and Messages.

  • What tool can i use to create an animation for iPad

What tool can i use to create an animation the will run in I.E., Firefox and iPad. I want to have a series of large buttons that i can scroll using arrows on the left and right side of the large buttons, with each button  being a hot spot. I can't use Flash because it is not supported on the iPad.
    Thanks,
    Steve

I've been playing with both Edge and Hype, and I found that stuff I create in Hype actually works in IE 8, but stuff I create in Edge does not. I'm not sure what the difference is, other than perhaps Hype automatically writes some legacy scripts so that things will work in IE. Hype's not perfect, but it's doing the job for what I needed it to do, where Edge was no help at all (working in IE I mean).
I think Edge is a much better tool - more robust, greater feature set, but Hype seems a bit more forgiving and seems to play nicer with crappy browsers like IE.

  • What programs should I use for creating a children's ebook with animated illustration?

I'd like to create children's book for iPad with hand-drawn illustrations that are animated but in a simple way (like bubbles flying and popping). What programs should I use?
    Thanks in advance,

Impossible to answer, I’m afraid. There’s just not enough details here and the very fact that you’re asking tells me that you should be very careful in choosing how to get this project done.
