What's a Great DVD Scratch Remover

Hi. Although I'm on Lion. I'd like to restore my OEM Snow Leopard Installer disk (Disk 1). It won't read anymore. I've tried things like toothpaste which usually works and a metal polisher but those didn't work for this dual layer.
What's a good brand of scratch remover? How do I restore it? It's good if I get to restore it so that when it's resold later (for an upgrade), everything's original and complete. I'll do my best to find it in the stores here.

Assuming these are commercial dvd/cd's and not your own for private burning, I recommend Novus Plastic Polishes.
Google "Novus Plastic Polishes for cd".
I haven't had to try on dvd/cd's as yet but I have an acrylic desktop surface and use it on minor scratches on that and the stuff actually works.

There are numerous products available for cleaning your iPod, but I have had great luck with PodShop iDrops. It is a cheap product, but requires a bit of work to remove scratches. Worth the effort in the end though. Here is a link to more information on it from amazon. I am not sure with protective cases though because I have never really had any luck any. For now, I just place a piece of the wider packaging tape over the front. It works great and keeps my iPod looking brand new. Hope this helps.

Good Macbook Pro scratch remover?

So I bought a used 2011 Macbook Pro on eBay and it says it's in regular used condition, and it was the best looking one on eBay, so I purchased it. I recieved it and it's in great condition except for there are mutliple scratches on the bottom and one on the top. The one on the top is the deepest scratch and the most noticeable. It not a big concern, but I would like to get them out. Luckily they're not deep so they shouldn't be too hard to get out, but I want your guy's opinion on what scratch remover I should use. I looked online and saw Mother's California gold scratch remover, any ideas on that? These are the pictures of the scratches:

@ CBennett2498 - Yes, I'm in the same boat. I nicked my top-shell with the edge of my MagSafe's connector. We're talking a milimeter long flaw that is driving me crazy. Here are the solutions I've seen so far. I do not vouch for any of them yet, but they seem promising.

What data do I need to remove from my laptop as I am getting alerts that my start-up disk is almost full. I have been deleting emails (I still have 4000+ in my inbox).

What is the best way to remove footage from the middle of a clip?

What is the best way to remove unwanted footage from the middle of a clip? I have a clip that I've trimmed from the start and finsih, but I need to remove "boring" footage from inbetween.

Thank you for your replies. I tried the blade tool followed by select and delete but it did not seem very precise. I had better success with this aproach at the ends rather than in the middle. I watched a tutorial video on using the precision editor, but the video was small so I had a difficult time following where the person clicked, etc. Any info on using the precision editor would be greatly appreciated. I need to make precise cuts to avoid creating unatural motion for the subject. So far, close but no cigar.

Dust & scratch removal

Is there a function in A3 for dust & scratch removal - NOT doing it manually, but over the entire photo or selected area? Or, is there a plug-in available, such as the dust removal one for Photoshop?

The problem with the PSE user interface is that it is a high-end painting/publishing/retouching tool (PS CS) with a complex menu & dialog box structure, upon which:
* features have been removed wholesale (curves, scripting, etc.)
* features have been removed partially (color management, etc.)
* features have been added (Variations, Process Multiple Files) resulting in more menus, more modes
* a completely independent application has been unceremoniously glued on (Organizer)
It is, in a word, a MESS.
As I've said before, the technology is great but the user interface is a disaster.
Honestly, I would leave PSE alone and sell it as a "painting" application. Then I'd come out with a new product designed for photographers/snapshooters. I would:
1. take a 'light' version of Apple's Aperture
2. add selections/masking [the nondestructive, resizable, Ansel Adams Zone-based selections/masks in LightCraft's LightZone are very cool!)
3. add simple layers (maybe even the tool-specific layers as in LightZone)
4. and then do usability testing. You know, clicking on text shouldn't just select the layer, it should allow you to edit the text. Jeez, how difficult is that for a consumer program?

Scratch removal: Does Ps CS6 have a tool for that? Or are there plugins?

Scanning old slides often shows large scratches and specks. How can they be removed?
I use Photoshop CS6, does it contain tools for that?

What I'm looking for is a Scratch Removal tool like I find in Silverfast 8SE (have one bundled with my Canoscan 9000F scanner) called SDR (I don't mean the iSDR which used the sanner's ínfrared).
It automaticllay searches out scratches, marks them in red, lets you adjust how strongly it hunts for them, sizes etc.
Then when you like it, click to remove them.
Very useful!
Two problems: it only works in conjunction with scanning, can't open an existing file.
And it only handles 8bit color depth.
I suppose full versions of Silverfast won't have these limitations, but that would mean quite an expense.
Since I have invested in Ps CS6 I'd want to keep to that.
Maybe I'm overlooking what's already in Ps? Or in available plugins?

If you have huge numbers of them, Filter - Noise - Dust & Scratches right in Photoshop. If they're always lighter than the surroundings (e.g., a negative scan that's been inverted), you can limit the effect with Edit - Fade - Darken afterward.
Or if you're willing to do some hand work, and ensure inadvertent things won't be changed, you can select the Spot Healing Brush Tool, set it to Content Aware mode and just dab the spots. Photoshop is pretty good at making up fill data.

i keep seeing suggestions of ice cream to get rid of scratches on the nano's screen. is ice cream some fancy scratch remover brand or are you talking about ACTUAL ice cream? and if so, what flavour? (heh.) and how do i go about doing that?

Scratch removal tool

For those of us who have large negative archives, a scratch removal tool would greatly reduce the trips to PS. I understand that the need for a scratch removal tool will diminish as the user base migrates to 100% digital, but we're still a long way that day.

I have an iMac G4 running OS X 10.4.11 with 1GB of DDR SDRAM. I'm wondering what's the best way to remove unwanted files from the RAM, if it's even possible. There are apps and other files I no longer need. If I can dump the unused files will it help the computer run a little faster? Can I eliminate the unwanted files some how by myself or do I need a program that does it? Thanks

Applications are stored perminately on the harddrive [ Macintosh HD ]. When applications are running that is when they appear in a window, they take up RAM. You see your running applications by using activity monitor:
Macintosh-HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Activity Monitor
Application when they are not running, they do not take up RAM. You will not see any performance improvement when you delete an application from your Harddrive. [ unless you have filled up your harddrive ]
Best to have greater than 2gig of free space on your Harddrive. Many posters to these forums state that you need much more free space: 5 gig to 10 gig or 10 percent of you hd size.
Most applications do not take up much space on the Harddrive. I copy my unused application to a folder named additional applications.

Be careful when deleting files. A lot of people have trashed their system when deleting things. Place things in trash. Reboot & run your applications. Empty trash.
Go after large files that you have created & know what they are. Do not delete small files that are in a folder you do not know what the folder is for. Anything that is less than a megabyte is a small file these days.

All Apple recommends is a damp cloth.
Depending on how much and thick it is, I'd use a dry papertowel or your fingernail to scrape the bulk of it off (I suggest fingernail so that you use something that can't really scratch the iPad)
Once you get most of it, then use a damp, not wet, cloth, maybe one that you moistened with warm water to help cut through the waxy nature of the crayon.
What you don't want to do is use chemicals or anything like a scrubby pad because you don't want to scratch the surface in your efforts to clean it.

Got the "apple firewire ntsc" choice to show up even if grayed out and "missing" under "audio/visual" menus by recreating choices in Easy Setup under "final cut pro" MENU thank GOODNESS because I was reading horror stories on here about this under another thread with someone trashing preferences, reinstalling and the works and still not getting it to show up...on my search now for an analog/digital converter up at b&h...find it odd that the s video connector wouldn't show the crt monitor when I put both displays through the 3870...I switched it back to see if it worked again when only the one dell monitor display was there and there it is again mirroring the screen display on my desktop...just can't be seen as an "external monitor" in fcp...couldn't find anything specific in the shane ross threads to this. I'm sad the program doesn't just see the s video connection though the 3870 though my computer does fine and will query up at b&h in regard to what might be affordable as far as a digital/analog converter. It's also weird in itself that when I put the two dell monitors on the one card my computer no longer could see the s video crt connection...makes no sense. Will report in later as to what I discover up at b&h as I'm sure there's a world of people out there using this sony crt monitor still even into the upgrades with computers and software so I imagine therein lies the solution. Look at your receipt. Does it say unlocked? It is possible to purchase both locked "sim free" and unlocked iPhones from Apple.
ONLY the carrier an iPhone is locked to can legitimately unlock it.
IF your receipt says that it was supposed to be unlocked, and it is not, call AppleCare. They should be able to straighten it out.

<dir> Config_Mgr_CEN.OLD.10
<dir> Config_Mgr_CEN.OLD.100
<dir> Config_Mgr_CEN.OLD.1000
Only <dir> Config_Mgr_CEN is properly populated with the correct set of the default folders.
Would you be so kind to advise on:
What are they?
How to remove them?
What to do in order for them not to appear any more?
