What's best way to keep up with ipad pen?

I have a hard shell case for my ipad, but haven't found any way to attach the ipen.  The pen works better for me than just touching the screen with my finger for some reason.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Duct tape it to your hand-half a roll should do it.
Could also try some Velcro, I understand you can buy a roll of that has adhesive.
Stick a patch on the case, a patch on the stylus.

  • What is the best way to keep up with "RED" agents?

    TES 6.03.265
    Hello all,
I'm fairly new to Tidal, and have a question mainly for those managing a hundred or more agents.
We have several hundred agents, and it is difficult for the operators to track & follow-up on all of the "RED" agents.
In the GUI, one cannot sort by "red or green"....and the other view of agents -  the "master" view of connections -  does not distinguish between disabled agents and broken (red) agents...it shows them all as "grey".
We REALLY need for our operations team to worry about RED agents....not so much the disabled agents (which are grey in both views).
A job that runs at a regular interval, and emails a list of any "RED" agents that it finds....would probably work just fine for us, if nothing better was available.
But I can't figure out the query....the closest I can get is to report on all inactive agents with "null" time zones....but I have seen where agents are green with no timezone (the master's agent) and red WITH a timezone (an aix agent)....so that is not 100% reliable.
I guess my question boils down to this:  how does that agent status dot turn "RED"?
Is that value extracted from a table, or does something trigger it to go red?
What does everyone else who manages hundreds of agents do to keep up with all the RED ones?
    Thanks, - Steve

    Thanks Tracy,
Guess I need to drill down a bit deeper.
My goal is to give the operators the ability to take a list of "RED" jobs - that they could generate by running a "report" or running a "report job", or by grouping them together in the client so they could copy/paste only the rows with RED dots....anything to generate a list that they could save as a txt file or attach to an email to another team, things like that. Sometimes we have a lot of broken agents to keep up with.
I've had mixed results with the alerts/events, anyway, in terms of general monitoring...sometimes we have a lot of agents that go from green to red back to green before the operator could even isolate the agent in question....a lot of false alarms...tweaking the timeout settings didn't help much, and a value too big seems to hang up the agent processes...not a good thing.
    Thanks again for the response!

  • Whats the best way to connect multiple iphones, ipads, ipods with multiple accounts to one mac

I have iPhone 5s, ipad 4th gen ipod classic and mac mini on one itunes account with iphone 4s with ipad 1st gen on another account (wife's account) and also want to be able to add to this in the future. I want to connect through the mac mini and be able to use music movies calanders reminders etc through all our i's, whats the simplest and best way to go about this, before i start down the wrong road.

Ok, here is the link to the original thread.  The key, for him, was that all of the pads used the same apple id, and needed to be set up identically.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/15456170#15456170
The other trick they use for distributing materials for whatever class was using the pads, was to create an e mail account that they all had acees to.  The documents, pdf, or whatever, would be e mailed to the account.  Each kid accesses and downloads the email.  Does whatever they are supposed to do, and e mails the done result back to the mailbox.     Easy for the teacher and the kids.

  • What is best way to give a used iPad to someone?

Buying the new iPad.  Want to give my iPad 2 to my wife.  What is the best way to do that?

Does she want any of your content on it, and has she got her own iTunes account ? Any purchased content on the iPad will remain tied to your iTunes account, so it will need to be on the computer that she syncs to if she wants to be able to have any of it (so your iTunes account will need to be authorised on that computer).
If she doesn't want any of your current content then you can log out of your account on the iPad by tapping on it in Settings > Store an you can then restoreit to factory defaults via Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Contents And Settings.

  • [noob question] whats the best way to load movieclips with a loading screen

for each level i have a number of movieclips bitmaps and sprites etc.. should i just load multiple swf's of everything in my level or keep all objects in the library and call upon them in the main fla
this is for a mobile game btw.
I have a loading screen.png file also, how do i know when each item is finished loading to stop the loading screen image?

If you have money to spend, I would recommend using Oracle's Application Test Suite (ATS) since it is the only test tool I know of that allows you to create a functional test and then convert it to a load test. The capabilities of this tool are pretty amazing considering that it is a single tool where the go to toolset in the past was Win Runner / Load Runner. With Win Runner, you needed 50 machines (or VMs) if you wanted to generate front end load for 50 users. With ATS, you record a script with your browser, and then convert it into a load test. You can adjust things like think time, ramp up time, sustained load, etc.
What a lot of people miss is that testing tools can be used indefinitely, not just for getting through a migration. If you script your tests appropriately (which means that your user base trusts them), you can use them for every code release because it takes very little effort to run a test script. On top of that, you can set up strategically placed machines around your network that are set up to run a specific test script (think of a common transaction) so that performance metrics can be captured. I worked for a company that had 160 locations around the world and we used our testing tool as a performance monitor in the locations with the worst performance. Having a tool allowed us to see whether our performance issues were related to network, database, app servers, etc. This took the burden of explaining performance issues off of the users. Most users can't really articulate what the problems are anyway (and they aren't expected to).
If budget is an issue, you can use JMeter from Apache, which will give you the load testing capability but you will miss out on the excellent reporting and management capabilities of the Oracle Application Test Suite.

  • Whats the best way to keep hard drive space clear

I have a macbook that is getting close to a full hard drive.  I have backed up the computer using an extrenal drive but with mostly videos and pictures on the drive it is really close to full.
Can anyone help with suggestions as to how to store things externally on the drive and not on the computer itself?

Simple solution. Store stuff on the external drive not on the computer itself.
Replace the computer's drive with a larger capacity drive.
    Get a bigger external drive.
These are not mutually exclusive. Do all of them.

I do some weddings and record some audio on to a mini disc recorder ( the small ones . On my avid liquid edit suite I just used to run it in live or ingest it on a 2 hour timer, and just record audio.
What the best way to do it with final cut studio and final cut pro?

Is there a reason you can't do the same on your mac system? What outputs does the audio recorder have?

  • I have a iMac Desktop and MacBook Pro laptop. I generate my work related files on both of these machines. What is the best way to keep the files in these machines synchronized?

I have a iMac Desktop and MacBook Pro laptop. I generate my work related files on both of these machines. After a few days or weeks, I have new files on some folders on either of the machines that is not on the other machine. What is the best way to keep the files in these machines synchronized?

How did you transfer the files to the iMac.  If you exported the files out of the MB library using Kind = Current you should get the edited version.  Any other  option may not.
If you want to keep the two libraries "synced"  any photos you want to move to the iMac should be added to an album, connect the two Mac with a LAN, Target Disk Mode,  Transferring files between two computers using FireWire, with WiFi. and use the paid version of  iPhoto Library Manager to copy that album from the MB library to iMac library.  It will also copy the original and edited versions, keywords, titles, etc.

  • What is the best way to keep your macbook pro in tip top condition. performance wise

What is the best way to keep the performance of a macbook pro in tip top shape.  Over the years my computer seems to act like a pc with all of its hicups and lockups.
I am running mountain lion and this computer is approx 2 years old.
Not sure if there is some sort of software that will help with this or is there something else I can do.

    How to maintain a Mac
    1. Make redundant backups, keeping at least one off site at all times. One backup is not enough. Don’t back up your backups; all should be made directly from the original data. Don’t rely completely on any single backup method, such as Time Machine. If you get an indication that a backup has failed, don't ignore it.
    2. Keep your software up to date. In the App Store or Software Update preference pane (depending on the OS version), you can configure automatic notifications of updates to OS X and other Mac App Store products. Some third-party applications from other sources have a similar feature, if you don’t mind letting them phone home. Otherwise you have to check yourself on a regular basis.
Keeping up to date is especially important for complex software that modifies the operating system, such as device drivers. Before installing any Apple update, you must check that all such modifications that you use are compatible. Incompatibility with third-party software is by far the most common cause of trouble with system updates.
    3. Don't install crapware, such as “themes,” "haxies," “add-ons,” “toolbars,” “enhancers," “optimizers,” “accelerators,” "boosters," “extenders,” “cleaners,” "doctors," "tune-ups," “defragmenters,” “firewalls,” "barriers," “guardians,” “defenders,” “protectors,” most “plugins,” commercial "virus scanners,” "disk tools," or "utilities." With very few exceptions, such stuff is useless or worse than useless. Above all, avoid any software that purports to change the look and feel of the user interface.
It's not much of an exaggeration to say that the whole "utility" software industry for the Mac is a fraud on consumers. The most extreme examples are the "CleanMyMac" and “MacKeeper” scams, but there are many others.
As a rule, the only software you should install is that which directly enables you to do the things you use a computer for, and doesn't change the way other software works.
Safari extensions, and perhaps the equivalent for other web browsers, are a partial exception to the above rule. Most are safe, and they're easy to get rid of if they don't work. Some may cause the browser to crash or otherwise malfunction.  Some are malicious. Use with caution, and install only well-known extensions from relatively trustworthy sources, such as the Safari Extensions Gallery.
Never install any third-party software unless you know how to uninstall it. Otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve. Do not rely on "utilities" such as "AppCleaner" and the like that purport to remove software.
    4. Don't install bad, conflicting, or unnecessary fonts. Whenever you install new fonts, use the validation feature of the built-in Font Book application to make sure the fonts aren't defective and don't conflict with each other or with others that you already have. See the built-in help and this support article for instructions. Deactivate or remove fonts that you don't really need to speed up application launching.
    5. Avoid malware. Malware is malicious software that circulates on the Internet. This kind of attack on OS X was once so rare that it was hardly a concern, but malware is now increasingly common, and increasingly dangerous.
There is some built-in protection against downloading malware, but you can’t rely on it — the attackers are always at least one day ahead of the defense. You can’t rely on third-party protection either. What you can rely on is common-sense awareness — not paranoia, which only makes you more vulnerable.
Never install software from an untrustworthy or unknown source. If in doubt, do some research. Any website that prompts you to install a “codec” or “plugin” that comes from the same site, or an unknown site, is untrustworthy. Software with a corporate brand, such as Adobe Flash Player, must come directly from the developer's website. No intermediary is acceptable, and don’t trust links unless you know how to parse them. Any file that is automatically downloaded from the web, without your having requested it, should go straight into the Trash. A web page that tells you that your computer has a “virus,” or that anything else is wrong with it, is a scam.
In OS X 10.7.5 or later, downloaded applications and Installer packages that have not been digitally signed by a developer registered with Apple are blocked from loading by default. The block can be overridden, but think carefully before you do so.
Because of recurring security issues in Java, it’s best to disable it in your web browsers, if it’s installed. Few websites have Java content nowadays, so you won’t be missing much. This action is mandatory if you’re running any version of OS X older than 10.6.8 with the latest Java update. Note: Java has nothing to do with JavaScript, despite the similar names. Don't install Java unless you're sure you need it. Most people don't.
    6. Don't fill up your boot volume. A common mistake is adding more and more large files to your home folder until you start to get warnings that you're out of space, which may be followed in short order by a boot failure. This is more prone to happen on the newer Macs that come with an internal SSD instead of the traditional hard drive. The drive can be very nearly full before you become aware of the problem.
While it's not true that you should or must keep any particular percentage of space free, you should monitor your storage use and make sure you're not in immediate danger of using it up. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of free space on the startup volume for normal operation.
If storage space is running low, use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the most space. Move seldom-used large files to secondary storage.
    7. Relax, don’t do it. Besides the above, no routine maintenance is necessary or beneficial for the vast majority of users; specifically not “cleaning caches,” “zapping the PRAM,” "resetting the SMC," “rebuilding the directory,” "defragmenting the drive," “running periodic scripts,” “dumping logs,” "deleting temp files," “scanning for viruses,” "purging memory," "checking for bad blocks," "testing the hardware," or “repairing permissions.” Such measures are either completely pointless or are useful only for solving problems, not for prevention.
To use a Mac effectively, you have to free yourself from the Windows mindset that every computer needs regular downtime maintenance such as "defragging" and "registry cleaning." Those concepts do not apply to the Mac platform. A computing device is not something you should have to think about very much. It should be an almost transparent medium through which you communicate, work, and play. If you want a machine that is always whining for your attention like a neurotic dog, use a PC.
The very height of futility is running an expensive third-party application called “Disk Warrior” when nothing is wrong, or even when something is wrong and you have backups, which you must have. Disk Warrior is a data-salvage tool, not a maintenance tool, and you will never need it if your backups are adequate. Don’t waste money on it or anything like it.

  • I burned a playlist to a data CD using itunes 11 but what is best way to get it import it into another computer with itunes running?

I burned a playlist to a data CD using itunes 11 but what is best way to get it import it into another computer with itunes running?  I get an "X" when trying to copy to the "automatically add to itunes" folder on the 2nd computer.

ok... so i i just made sure all my music is all together in 1 folder and i am going to trash my old music folder that is in the itunes folder... and follow your directions - let itunes start w/new library and bring my music in. Well, last little hurdle/question. I noticed that the place where my itunes library is - on an external drive doesnt have much space left on it. The place where i gathered all my music together in order to start fresh - is a different external drive and has LOTS of free space on it.
SO... i now would like to just keep all that freshly compiled clean music right where it is but in advanced preferences I want to point to that new folder on the drive that has so much more space. So... should i delete the old music then go into itunes with a blank library and change the folder in preferences - quit and go back in and then follow your steps to loading my music? If i change the setting of where itunes looks for the music - that doesn't wipe out the old stuff... it just mixes it all up together right? I dont want that!!
i promise this is the last question - i would love to fix this problem tonight and just be DONE!
Thanks in advance for your patience and knowledge!!

What is the best way to keep my retina screen clean?

I use Windex Electronics Cleaner on the MBP displays.  I spray some on a small microfiber cloth and wipe the display.  Then I use a large microfiber cloth to dry it.  When finished, the display looks like the day it came out of the box.

I have just switched from pc to mac.  What is the best way to keep Windows, Parallel of Boot camp?

Parallels should be able to handle that without any problems.
There is a version of both of those that will run on the Mac. So you might consider upgrading to that version instead of going with Windows on your Mac.

  • What is the best way to keep my personal files stored in iCloud separate from my work-related files?

What is the best way to keep my personal files stored in iCloud separate from my work-related files? It seems that I'm not allowed to link my iPad mini and my work iMac using two different accounts, so I'm wondering how to make my single personal account work for both, while keeping personal vs work files reasonably separated.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

Is it possible for you to upgrade your account to iCloud Drive? That would mean, all Macs upgraded to Yosemite, and all mobile devices to iOS8?
See:  iCloud Drive FAQ and iCloud: About using iWork for iOS and iCloud
In iCloud Drive you could create two separate custom folders, one for work documents and one for private documents and organize your documents there.  Don't use the app specific folders (Keynote, Pages, Numbers, ...) , because you can only create one level of folders inside these folders.

What is the best way to stream sports with apple TV

Your question is a little too broad. Hard to know what sports you are talking about.
If you have a newer Mac, you can use airplay to mirror anything on your Mac to your apple tv. Or use the ESPN app.
But a lot of sports just can't be streamed as they are available, though I bet this year sees a lot of new livestreams on sports on YouTube or Ustream.
