What's faster: Importing a long film to imovie 6 or Quicktime Pro?

I'm making a "mix video" for someone and want to include a short clip (ten or fifteen seconds at most) from a movie that's almost two hours long (about 750MB). Considering that it will take about five hours to import the entire film to imovie HD just so I can isolate that small section and trash the rest, I thought it might be much easier and quicker to make the cut in Quicktime Pro 7. But I've never used Quicktime Pro 7 and am not sure how quick and painless that process would be. Does Quicktime Pro also require some sort of time-consuming importing process, or can I simply open the movie in Pro and edit out the parts I don't want in no time flat? If not, does anybody have any other suggestions?

Provided that you are able to play the video and audio it shouldn't be a problem to save a selection out to a different format. If you want to keep it in avi format then follow this link:

You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:

Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.

I produced a film in iMovie and send it to iDVD to make a DVD with a theme. When everything was ready it starts at my mac-computer. But at the TV the theme always comes at the end of the film not at the beginning. What have I to change, what´s wrong?

A. Do not Use - Share to iDVD - in any iMovie version at all !
B. Start a BRAND NEW iDVD project
C. in iMovie'08 to 11 - Share to Media Browser and as LARGE - NOT HD or other resolution as quality will be even worse
- in iMovie HD6 - just close it and from within iDVD import the iMovie movie project icon (with a Star on it)
- FinalCut - Export as QuickTime Movie - NO QUICKTIME CONVERSION - AT ALL !
D. When in iDVD - see to that in the Lay-out menu (when it looks like a box-plott) there ARE NOTHING in the upper left most box (Auto Start box). As this overruns any Menu.
E. Save as a DiskImage - TEST this first - befor burning any DVDs

IMPORT TAKES LONG TIME THAN EXPORT

Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
CORE 10.2.0.4.0 Production
TNS for Solaris: Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
EXPORT the schema which is of around 358 GB size
expdp username/password@TEST directory=DATAPUMP dumpfile=TEST_SEP22_%U.dmp logfile=TEST_SEP22.log schemas=TEST parallel=6 exclude=statistics
The export completed in 30 minutes
When started to import into another schema in the same server even using parallel=6 it takes around 15 hours.Can anyone say why it takes a long time to import.

The reason the import takes longer than the export is because of all the internal houskeeping going on in relation to every INSERT that is processed. The export is simply reading the db, then writing to a flat file.

Import very long

I export a 8.1.7 database in full mode. It runs very quickly.
2 tables contains rowid columns.
The import full is very very long for the 2 tables.
Is there a reason and a way to avoid this ?

My question was : is there a way to explain why import so long with tables containing rowid columns. We have 1 table (37 000 000 rows) with 1 rowid column and the import is running since 7 days !!! Any idea ?

4 times 1 gigabyte Ram Memory is cheaper but if I choose for 2 times 2 GB Ram I can always beef it it later.

Which should I go for? Is retina all together a better machine and a good enough update, or should i go for a 2012 model which is almost maxed out like 15.4?

because the RAM in the Retina models is non-upgradeable, I’d say that RAM is most important on the Retina models.
All of the models above will perform basic work tasks well; I haven’t tried making music on my Mac, so I don’t know what the bottleneck there might be. If it’s CPU-intensive, then the 15-inch quad-core model might be the best choice, despite its slower CPU speed. You can upgrade the RAM on the non-Retina models if RAM turns out to be a bottleneck.

you can change the local currency option in GL master. but only think is that GL account has not been related to cleraing accouts.
SAP has given good example below.
Examples
You set up a clearing account for goods receipts and invoice receipts and manually post these items to it. You post invoice receipts in the invoice currency and goods receipts always in the local currency.
Invoice receipt 1000 DEM 600 USD
Goods receipt 600 USD
Both items can be cleared if the clearing account balances are recorded in local currency only. If you have not set the indicator for this account, the system will translate DEM to USD during the clearing procedure in order to determine the amount in USD required to clear 1000 DEM. If the translation rate is .65 USD per DEM, then the system displays 650 USD for the invoice receipt and 600 USD for the goods receipt when the open items are processed.
This means that to clear both of these items, you will also have to enter a difference posting for 50 USD, and the system will automatically make an additional exchange rate difference posting for this amount.

Like in FI we have GL account and in FM we have Commitment item. Two different nomenclature. Why account assignment element is used freely as If everyone else understands it, I would love to understand that how to interpret word account assignment element differently if used in different module.

Import erratic from film camera

Importing from two sony fx1's. Both cameras, although importing the footage, the screen on the computor is frozen with a single still image. I have to watch the camera playback screen in order to see what I am importing. Any idea why?

Hi,
By means of Bom explosion number we can define a common explosion date for all BOM levels.
The system explodes the BOM that is valid on this date.
For multi level BOM lareger time intervals may exist between the explosion dates of individual assemblies.If the BOM's have changed mean time a situation may exist where by an assembly that is used repeatedly is produced with a different BOM structure.
Therefore the BOM should always be exploded with the same date.
Tcode MDSP
You need to enter fixed key date,plant material and the status whether active or inactive.
You can enter the BOM Explosion No in planned order or when creating PIR.

FCP HD 4.5 not taking clips longer than 4min and in FCP Im getting ( general error 34) in my
audio/video settings. Computer crashes and external hard drives go off line.
In past FCP rescue fixed it.

You need to check to make sure that the version of the OS, FCP and quicktime are compatible. Also, is your scratch disk formatted macosextended? If not, it should be.
