What's going on with my iPhone 4?

I have a very cracked screen.. completely shattered. NO PROBLEM THERE. Ran smoothly with a screen protector. No issues other than ugly broken glass. And it has seen some BAD days, but survived everything only an iPhone could endure.
It recently fell out of my pocket on to pavement (UGH!!!).. and finally, it could handle no more of my bad luck (the ONE time I forgot to keep the case on it sinceI bought the case) ,,I can't see what's on the screen.. it stays black but it DOES light up, I can see it brighten when it comes on, and there's a white light through some of the cracks where the glass fell out. I can make a good guess to slide to unlock and turn on music and play it. BUT I CAN'T SEE ANYTHING AT ALL. I'm wondering if something is broken and I need to buy another iPhone 4 while I'm trying to get a new 3G, 3GS, 4S and also 5.(I collect Apple products).. or get a new shell for it... or just a new lcd or something.. the broken glass never bothered me much, it was FULLY functional though the back and front were shattered from some rough times I've been through. ..I don't care about the glass but I want my iTunes purchases back.. ASAP.. and I don't have iTunes on my computer because I have Linux, not Windows, and they don't even sell Macs anywhere near me. :/
I really would like to repair this screen issue.. I know I can get more iPhones, and plan to, but this one was my first.. and I had it for about 2 years... its outlasted any other phone I've ever owned.

Try going to settings>general>software update

  • What is going on with my iPhone 5s touch screen?!

I bought my iPhone 5s in November of 2013. I've loved it so far, until about a month ago when I noticed a major problem. When I type on the keyboard vertically (haven't tried horizontal) different parts of my screen start being activated. For example, the amount of times I've been texting someone and end up sending a FaceTime request (so activating the top right corner) is ridiculous. I even tried posing this question originally off of my phone (why I thought that was smart, I'll never know), and I found myself typing in the question tab or refreshing the page or typing in the middle of random words every single time. I notice it very badly in iMessage, but I've also seen it happen on Facebook as well. There are times when I even find myself three pages back from where I was at first, because of typing/touching. Basically, I have no idea what's going on. Some days seem better than others, and other times I can barely send out a message to someone. It certainly helps when I slow down the pace of typing (I thought maybe hitting 'blank' parts in between keys was causing it), but alas this only helps mildly, and sometimes not at all. I also don't believe I see this touching error outside of typing (however, this could be because I don't notice it as overtly). It seems like if I was capable of recalibrating the touch screen, that would help. But the iPhone doesn't come with a recalibrating option other than wiping the phone. I'm just at a loss as to how typing the bottom half of my screen sends signals to the top half. Am I the only one facing this? Or does anyone have any remote clue as to what could be going on/can be done to stop this? Obviously, it's very inconvenient in my life.

What troubleshooting steps have you taken so far?
    Restart?
    Reset?
    Reset All Settings?
    Restore From Backup?
    Restore As New?

  • HT1688 What is going on with my iPhone 4?

I think my iPhone 4 is dying.  Is there anything I can do other than buying a newer version of the iPhone?
1.) The letter keys are sticking.  Sometimes it leaves letters out completely; or will not insert the letter that I touch.  Also, sometimes I'll be typing but nothing is written.  My phone will freeze, and then all of a sudden a whole sentence will appear but leaving out some of the letters.
2.)  My phone charges super fast.  From like 3% to 100% for example in less than an hour.  No I do not have it in airplane mode.
3.)  My phone's battery will drain quite fast.  From 100% to dead in about 4 hours with only a handful of activity.  I also have the cellular data and 3G turned off.
I am not using the phone religiously.  I do not have a ton of pages and various apps open at the same time.  These are new issues where I have noticed a difference with the same amount of usage.  Please help.  Thank you.

    Standard troubleshooting...
    1. Try a Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the slider.  Slide to power off.  Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the Apple logo.
    2. Try a Reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
    3. Remove apps from Recently Used (multi-tasking) list...
    - From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
    - Swipe up on the app preview card to remove it from the list
    - Press the home button when done.
    4. If still a problem restore with your backup.
    5. If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
    6. If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.
For your battery, try recalibrating the battery meter... fully discharge (until it shuts off) and then fully recharge (don't unplug until 100%) to recalibrate the battery meter.  You may need to do this a few times.

  • What is going on with my 2911? -File Download Troubles

    Hi,
So we have a 40Mbs for downloads but for some reason all of our file downloads are stuck at ~300KB. They often time out.  I know the uplink is not at capacity. We get the same numbers even off hours when capacity is 10% of our max.  I'm monitoring traffic and system properties with Netflow & SNMP.  Both show everything in the green.  No dropped packets, no memory or CPU issues, conversations appear normal.  It appears we are getting throttled but I can not figure out if it's us or them.  I know we do not have any QoS policies in place.
Where should I go next to troubleshoot this?  I'm stumped.

  • What is going on with my trackpad?

This is the third time this has happened since last August, and it's getting old.  I have a late 2009 MacBook, and the trackpad is starting to feel spongy when clicked, and won't fully click in several spots.  It started in the lower right corner, now it's the whole right 1/4 of the pad.  The only part of the trackpad clicking correctly it he upper left corner.  Couple things I've noticed: the bottom 1/4 of the trackpad looks more sunken into the body of the computer than the top, and the other I noticed by accident; I happend to be holding the computer upside down because I could hear something loose.  What was loose was the trackpad itself.  Where the pad is sunken in further, when I hold the MacBook upside down, the pad ain't so sunk anymore.  When I push on the pad with my finger, I can see it move, like it has come loose from the structure underneath.  Why is this happening?  Is something coming loose over time that just needs tightening?  I've had the Apple Store fix this 2x already.  My AppleCare is going to run out in the not so distant future, so it would be helpful to know some details about what happening in case this happens again after my AppleCare is gone if it's something I could fix myself.

  • 2011 Macbook Pro suddenly says no space available on start-up disk (plenty available) and USB drawing too much power (only charging phone). What's going on with my computer? No longer able to charge my iPhone 5.

    Hi, all.
Two days ago I was using my computer, a 2011 Macbook Pro, and suddenly got the error message reading "Your Mac OS X startup disk has no more space available for application memory. To avoid problems with your computer, quit any applications you are not using. Closing windows and removing files from your startup disk will also help."
I was only using Google Chrome, nothing was running in the background, and I have 443 of 449.25 GB available (this is after clean-up I conducted after receiving the error message, but probably cleaned up less than 25 GB), so there should be no shortage of space. However, the message kept popping up and I deleted a few files and eventually it went away and hasn't reappeared.
However, last night and then again this morning I have been getting the error message that my USB drive is pulling too much power and has been disable. All that was plugged in was my iPhone 5 on the charger and my computer is also on its charger, so I don't know why this would be an issue, either. I have always charged my phone this way and never had a problem until today.
I haven't been able to charge my phone since. What's going on with my computer?

Regarding the USB, see if zapping the PRAM helps.

  • HT1338 What's going on with iCloud (MobileMe)?  I'm able to sign in here, but I can't access mail on my Macbook Pro, iPhone, or work computer.  I always get an authorization error (user-id or passwork wrong).  This has been going on for almost a week now.

The single download means that you won't be able to redownload it from the store without paying, either on a computer's iTunes or an iOS device - it doesn't stop you from copying the audiobook to your other computers or syncing it to your iOS devices, you just can't redownload it. (I believe that they are all supplied to Apple by audible.com, so I assume that it's them requiring the one-time download.)
You can download audiobooks on your computer's iTunes and sync them to iOS devices, you do not have to buy them directly on the device (if you do then you can copy them back to your computer's iTunes library by connecting the device and using the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option on your computer's iTunes).
What you are doing to sync them should work i.e.
    - connecting the iPad to your Mac
    - selecting the iPad on your Mac's iTunes
    - selecting its Books tab and selecting the audiobooks that you want to sync to the iPad and syncing/applying that selection.
You should then get an audiobooks option in the Music app on your iPad. If they aren't appearing there  then do they show in Settings > General > Usage > Music on the device - if you have audiobooks on the iPad then they should be listed there under an 'audiobooks' heading.
By 'restart the iPad' do you mean a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
You could also try closing its Music app via the iPad's taskbar : Force an app to close in iOS.
And do a soft-reset and retry syncing.
I assume that music and other items sync ok ?

  • What is going on with mobile me? All I get is the find iphone screen and I can't switch apps to read mail.

What is going on with mobile me? All I get is the find iphone screen and I can't switch apps to read mail.

MobileMe is working partially, Apple says some users can't access to the web-apps (Mail, Calendar, etc.). In my case is working fine in my iPhone, in Outlook 2010, and I can only access the Mail app (Calendar and other functions are not working!).
    Hope this gets fixed soon

I am using safari on my iPad to respond here. What problems are you having? Do you have a good wifi connection? Try a reset, hold the power button and home button until you see the apple then let go.

There is no Apple in this user to user forum.
Take your phone to the Apple store and have the guys at the Genius bar take a look at it.
also use the search function at the top right of the forum, "battery" look for the thread with the green checkmark.

  • What is going on with the FATAL error message????

What is going on with the FATAL error message????

Same issue, since last night. Can't sign in to iTunes, download apps, or updates to apps on any device. I have iPhone 4S, iPad mini, MacBook Pro. East coast, writing this at 1:21pm EST. Changing password doesn't work. I can't log in with my iCloud address either. I have however noticed at least that if  I enter the wrong password, I just get the incorrect password message. Using the right password gets the FATAL:: message every time.
I have my devices set to UK for the region even though I am in the US. Though that might have something to do with it so I switched to US- no change, same problem.
I agree that acknowledgement via their system status would be appropriate. Irritating that they are not at least publicly acknowledging there is a problem. I would feel much less concerned if I knew that they were aware and working on it. Can't find a support number anywhere but I did send a brief message via their help/contact page.

  • What is going on with apple?

What is going on with Apple this year?  Syncing is now a challenge, when adding new content to devices either way, iphone, ipad, macbook, itunes does not see the content anymore unless you shut it down and re-open it, if you are using iphoto + itunes, neither sync up unless they are both shut down and restarted.
Apple has always done an incredible job syncing content, as it is added in itunes or iphoto or on a device it was immediately accessable on any device to be used or sync based on user settings, is this fragmented syncing due to iOS 6 and itunes or has apple simply lost it's focus or i am missing a setting somewhere?
This fragmentation occurs with photo's, media files such as music and video, apps, email etc.  Anyone else experiencing this?

no problem syncing photos and videos for me.
and thats why i manage everything else manually...music and videos. syncing music and videos is 'crap' for me.
