What's gone wrong with my 75/35 Speed?

I signed up for the 75/35 plan and was getting that or a little better at one time. However, I sensed a slow down recently, so I did speed testing using the Verizon speed tester and a couple of others.  Instead of 75/35 I am getting 43/36. 
Now this seems very odd to me. If I had network issues or something terribly wrong, I would have thought BOTH upload and download would be effected, but it's JUST the download.  My upload is better than marketed.
I have a Mac and a Windows PC wired on the network and both are showing the same speed, so it's not just one box or the other.
I have reset my router several times. It has been replaced before, so I don't think it's bad, per se.
Does Verizon automatically gate you if you reach some limit or download a lot of things? I've never gotten anything from them that I know of that said they were taking action. What's worse is that I honestly don't know how long this has been going on. It could have been months! 
Any help would be appreciated. I assume that Verizon has to be aware of any outages around me or any issues at their station.

first of all to answer your question, no Verizon will not down clock your speed. As to the speed tests results you are getting we first need to know if you are testing on computers that are using the Wifi connection or if they are hardwired to the verizon router. 
Speed issues are a common topic on here and you will see over and over again we need you to test with a hardwired connection before we can do anthing else. Once you have done a speed test with hardwired connection then we can troubleshoot wireless speed issues. If you are getting 46 mbps download (again this is all assumption we need more info) then that is actually a very good speed for a wireless device. I am going to stop there because I don't want to go off on a tangent if it doesn't have anything to do with your situation.

    Apple Mail used to be superb.  Now it randomly stops working saying my log in details are incorrect.  Then it may start working again a day later without any changes.  This never happened before Yosemite.
    What is wrong?  Is it a problem with Apple OS or iOS?  Is it a problem with my mail service provider? 
    It has reached the point where I have had to revert to collecting mail via Internet explorer on my old Microsoft Windows laptop rather than my iMac.

    This all happened after the recent upgrade of OS.

    I'll chime in and agree with everyone else that Norton needs to be removed. I have actually run some tests of many anti-virus apps on the Mac, and Norton's detection rates of Mac malware are just so-so. Not that great, but not so bad that I would call it fraudulent or anything. Of course, it sounds like you're really not concerned about detection of Mac malware, so that's probably not your main concern.
    However, everytime I have tested Norton, I have had problems. The test system always runs like a dog with Norton installed, to a degree that far exceeds anything I saw from any other anti-virus software I tested, and even crashed once so badly that the test system would not longer start up. I didn't do any official benchmark or stability tests, but my informal observations support the prevailing opinions that Norton is poison on a Mac.
    For your purposes, you really don't need something as intrusive as Norton anyway. You just need to be able to scan files that have been sent to you before passing them on to someone else. ClamXav is a good option, and if you download from the developer's site rather than the App Store, it can be configured to watch specific folders. (You really don't need to be watching your entire hard drive or running constant scans of the whole thing.) Another option would be BitDefender from the App Store. BitDefender is another that is just so-so with Mac malware, but it is supposedly very good with Windows malware. (I have no personal experience with that.) BitDefender could be used to scan files manually before re-sending them.
    One last note: if your anti-virus software detects an infected file, do not delete it! Doing so could be damaging, especially if the file is part of an e-mail message, in which case deleting it the wrong way could corrupt your mailbox. In addition, deleting it eliminates all possibility of learning more about the threat. Could it affect your Mac? Might it have already done so? Can the file be cleaned? How freaked out should the person who sent it to you be? Might it be a false positive? These kinds of questions become very difficult to answer if you reflexively delete the file. Remember, having a malicious file on your hard drive or attached to e-mail does not equal infection... it can sit there just fine, in perfect safety, as long as you don't open it. (I should know, I've got hundreds of malware samples on my machine, and I'm definitely not infected.)

    I have been with BT broadband for ages, never had any problems, and always recommended them to people. I have a home hub which I have always used with my PC and also wirelessly with an ipad.
    As I say speeds have always been fine, at all times of day. Videos always plasyed, even at night, i use it to watch things like football matches on sky go, bbc iplayer, 4od etc etc.
    For about a week or so, it was over easter that i noticed it, (I was hoping that it was just a problem that occured that weeked), my broadband started getting really slow. This was at all times of day. More recently it has progressed to just at night. After about half six/seven pm, my broadband becomes unusable. Vidoes wont play, things that usually take seconds todownload on my PC take 5 or 6 minutes. Its worst than when i was on dial up.
    My question is, has something happened that BT are aware of and are trying to fix, or are these new speeds what I can expect now?
    Ive noticed on what usually is a very quiet forum, lots of people have been registering recently and posting very similar complaints.
    Will this sort itself out, is there anything I can do? I dont see how any of the settings can have changed. Ive not touched anything, not moved anything, not changed anything. Ive always been very happy with the service up until now.

  • What's gone wrong with iMovie

    I am using Mavericks - perhaps that was a mistake. Anyway, I haven't used iMovie for a while, but it was always so easy - not any longer. First the movies I take with my iPhone 5 are rejected. They don't preview in Quicktime even though they say they are a Quciktime movie - when is a quicktime movie not a quicktime movie. The movies then show up in iMovie flashing red - sometimes?? yes everything is okay for a while but as I try to add more movies suddenly some are showing green - others with a red haze!! I have been with Apple since they atarted, but I have to admit the last year or so has been one mess after another. iWeb dissappeared, now iMovie is "God help us" being made easier - FOR WHO? Lastltly - doyou think anyone from Apple ever reads these submissions o are we just tallking amonst ourselves.

    Many thanks for your response. We had an upgrade to BT Infinity but could access this email after the upgrade - a couple of days later however, we couldn't! All other email accounts owned work fine it's just the @btinternet.com one. Although the helpdesks understood the issue they were less than convincing that a fix would be soon - - - I was advised to wait a couple of days and it would be fixed. Previous comms with BT/Yahoo lend me to believe that this call (and fix) will not happen.................meanwhile I can't access my @btinternet.com emails.............................I'm new to the forum but has this happened to anyone else and what can be done to fix the situation?.......any ideas, anyone?   • What's gone wrong with my image thumbnails?

    In Finder column view I've got several files that are mostly images gathered in folders. In the usual way, when I select a folder the contents appears as a list in a new column, then clicking on the icon view symbol in the title bar gives a bunch of thumbnail views.
    Problem is, some of these are now heavily pixilated and almost useless, though the original is unchanged. How, please, do I restore things?

    Seems to me, Barney, you're likely pointing in the right direction with "I'd stay away from things that clear everything" (not that I've got any techie smarts). But clearly something radical has happened.
    Ever since I moved from 10.4.11 and a Power-PC to 10.6 last year, I've had big problems with duplicates. With time, most of those are gone, after tossed out around 100 GB. But today there's still a few GBs of dups, for instance my *Finder > SEARCH FOR > All Images*  is useless -- bottom of the window says there are "more than 10,000 found," and most are duplicates, often multiples.
    A few weeks ago I tried to tackle this using Tidy Up! 2.3.1 -- software I'd used successfully to clear out iTunes and Mail. It identified a heap of dups that I trashed. Maybe that's the radical change.
    If you or anyone can enlighten me further about "corrupt caches" etc. I'd be very grateful,

  • What has gone wrong with apple dictation it is now useless, virtually every word is wrong

    A short time ago dictation was brilliant  - apple dictation was able to interpret dictation for long passages, for books, speeches and presentations, now it is almost totally unable to pull any correct words. I have checked my mac set up it has the correct language "British" and tried turning off enhanced mode - but without enhanced it is just mute, it does no dictation at all - in enhanced mode it is no good at all.
    I have been unable to update to Yosemite and thus unable to update to newest version of pages, but the problem is not limited to pages any text app is just the same.
    I would appreciate any suggestions as apple dictation has been a very useful tool over the past 6 months.

    I upgraded iOS and since then I have no emails, no iCloud tabs, and it just dose not work, and this is also on my I phone 4s.

    Have you tried Deleting the Mail Account and then Re-adding it...
    Delete the affected email account from your device.
    Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Choose the affected email account, then tap Delete Account.
    Add your account again.

    I just got my MBA.. I was trying to open the app store but it takes so long to load that finally failed.

    You need to check to make sure you are actually connected to the network.  Tap Settings > WiFi >and then tap the blue ">" next to the network name with checkmark.  You should see a complete set of IP address but if the router didn't issue you an IP address properly, you will see your touch IP address start with 169.x.  If this is the case, you are connected to the internal network but not to the web.
    First thing to do (while you are on that screen) is tap "Forget Network".  Then turn WiFi off.  Turn it back on and, if needed, tap Other and re-enter your network information.  If you continue to have problems, check with your IT department on Monday.
    In the meantime, your laptop and iTunes can be used to purchase apps and music.  Syncing them with your touch is a great way to get them installed while you are waiting for the answer on your WiFi problem.

    iPhoto 9.2.3 is incompatible with MacOS 10.9.3 Mavericks. If you are running Mavericks on your system you need to update iPhoto to 9.5.1. Only, the problem is, that this version is no longer available at the App Store.
    The easiest way to get a compatible iPhoto version in that case would be to upgrade to Yosemite, MacOS X 10.10, and then download the most recent iPhoto version from the AppStore, iiPhoto 9.6, like LarryHN suggested.
    If you cannot download iPhoto after upgrading to iPhoto 9.6 post back.

    No, cannot revert to the original. Suddenly this new Facetime was imposed on me and it doesn't work. It's okay on a year old MacBook Pro, and it's ok in the iPhone 4S. Just not ok on the imac running on 10.6.3. Cannot try OS update suggested because I am currently 300 miles from the Mac and travelling so will have to wait until I get back. Reluctant to install mavericks because of all the complaints I have seen about incompatibilities. Appreciate the business reasons for constant OS updates, but businesses themselved would always rather remain with tried ant trusted software. I stopped using iMovie entirely because suddenly a new version was imposed that required re-leaening the whole process.

    It was working fine in Snow Leopard up until a couple of hours ago.
    When I tried to use it a few minutes ago it suddenly won't print any more.
    It makes like it's about to print - the driver starts up etc, but then shuts down again without printing.
    What's gone wrong ? Don't tell me to delete the printer in System Prefs and then select it again. I did that already. Don't tell me to reinstall the driver. I did that too. Don't tell me to reboot, run scripts, etc. Did all that.

    I had a brief online chat with the guy at Epson and then he sent me an email, which said....

    In response to your query if you are having communication problems, firstly I suggest to check the cable connections and ensure the printer is connected directly. Also please ensure that the data cable is no longer than 1.8m. Next try deleting the printer from the Print Centre. Reinstall the printer driver from the CD that came with the printer. Restart the Mac.
    Then you will need to add the printer to the printer list, selecting Epson USB as the printerport. Click Page Setup, choose All. Please try printing again.
    If the issue is not resolved I advise you to try the printer on a different computer to see where the fault lies.

    I did all of the above (allowing for the fact that the Epson guy was using "Windoze" language.
    It still won't print.
    The annoying thing is that it was printing fine a few hours ago.
    So maybe you're right, Peter - maybe I just need to leave it off for a while and see what happens!!! I can't think of any other options.
    Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
    It appears to be something in the coding in Snow Leopard. Every time I hit the "Print" button I get a console message that says
