What's happening to my 5s battery?

For the past week or so I have been having issues with the battery on my iPhone 5s and I would like some answers. I know people are complaining about the battery life but I've never had many problems with it until the past week or two. The battery is draining so fast and I'm not even using it for extreme amounts of time. The phone is less then a year old. Last night I charged it to full power, set the alarm (never had a problem with the battery before doing this) and during the night I received 1 push notification and when I looked at the phone about 8 hours later (never once touching it in that time) it was down to 86% power. This is ridiculous! I've turned off unnecessary things and it still drains. In the past I could go all day using the phone the same amount I use it now and by the end of the night I'm down from 100% to 75% battery life. Now I go from 100% to low battery alerts. Also, there have been times when it seems to get so hot. What's causing these issues and is there a solution? Thanks for any responses.

So I set up my own account on iTunes synced it to my laptop, and my dads friend ask me of I could do his, that was fine set it up in HIS own account. So mine and his are different BUT he keeps some of my texts and gets all the new apps I download and music.

Did you skip a step in this description?  Which laptop was involved in the setup of the second iPhone?  Also, check which Apple ID is active in the "iTunes & App Store."  You may have set up a separate Apple ID, but it sounds like yours is the one entered on the iPhone.
