What's it worth without LCD?

I have a PowerBook G4 12" 1.33 GHz. Upgraded to 768MB RAM. It's a great computer, but about seven months ago the screen stopped working. I didn't even notice, as I had been using it as a desktop computer for a while, hooked to an external monitor and accessories. If I had noticed in time, it would have been in warranty and I could have had it fixed, but I didn't notice the problem until about 20 days after my warranty expired.
Repair is out of the question, at least as far as Apple or third-party repair shops go, because they're all asking about 1/2 the value of the PowerBook to fix it. That's not cost-effective for me when I've had the thing just over a year.
It could be a dead screen (though the backlight works), or it could be an unseated cable, or something with the logic board. I just don't know, and don't particularly want to crack it open to find out.
So I bought a G3 (Bronze) PowerBook, and I'll use that when I need to be on the go. However, I think it's a waste to have this G4 PowerBook just sitting on my desk when someone might be able to fix it and use it as a portable again. Not to mention, I might want to pick up a newer Mac desktop system since the PowerBook G4 is now essentially a desktop computer as far as I'm concerned.
So my question is this: What kind of price do you think I could fairly ask for a $1,700 computer (when new) with a non-working LCD display? How much do you think it would cost for a tech-savvy person to privately fix it? I'm not talking labor costs, but do-it-themselves costs (parts, etc.)
This computer is great otherwise! There's nothing wrong with the computer itself. It's just the display problem that makes it "defective." When running on the external monitor I've even had it on a cooling pad to keep it from suffering any heat problems. It's well taken care of and well upgraded.
Any ideas what the mark-down should fairly be for a bad display?

I had the same problem (mine was clearly defective after driving over it with a car)... and we evaluated the price to around 400 to 600 Euros (for a friend that was). It works since then as a perfect desktop computer

You cannot make changes in underlying structure of objects in prod system , the changes shoud always come through a proper tranport layer ( dev -- QA -- prod).
CTS(change and tranport system) is build to manage all changes across system , it takes care of versioning as well.
Usually in production system you can do data loading and other data oriented activities.
If you need to work on object related changes, start from a dev system.

Is your profile signature still valid (iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.5)?)
Do you have a backup of your iPhoto Library? If not, make a backup copy now.
What happened directly before this problem first occurred? did you upgrade the system? Install new software? Move your iPhoto library to a new drive? Run any cleaning applications? Did iphoto crash?

Literally. A few days ago, while sitting at my iMac, the familiar start of Buffalo Sprinfields- 'for what it's worth' began thumping from my speakers. Pretty soon I noticed there was no Steven Stills. It was the music and the background. Not a problem, reload at some point in the future. I have a copy synced to my iPad. It played fine. Today while listening to a radio station via iTunes the same song came on. No lead singer. Odd. I found and inserted my old CD and imported the song to iTunes. No lead vocals. Played the CD in iTunes. No lead vocals. I took the CD out to my car and played the CD. Works fine. Everythings there. I've checked some of my other old music and this song seems to be the only affecte song. Anybody else have this problem?

I had something similar happen to me once when I was using my computer routed through my stereo. I had a faulty component in the wiring setup and it was just sending a single channel through both speakers. For most music you barely notice it because the stereo channel split isn't all that great. For this one track, however, all the vocals went through the channel that wasn't being played. I had never heard this track before so it wasn't until somebody else heard me playing it the 5th time and asked what had happened to the vocals I even knew there were some!

Do as the manual states and restore the phone on the computer to which it most recently synched. If you never synched to a computer or the computer is not available, you WILL lose data as you'll need to restore your phone as NEW.

I wanted to use GarageBand for recording acoustic guitar and voice at least at 96/24. This iMic is probably not up to that. Maybe CD quality. I am stuck using an old Powerbook. There are many problems with interfaces that I have found while searching for them and without spending a boatload of cash on pro studio interfaces, there is no solution that will work for me. Maybe some time in a far off future there is a thunderbolt interface coming. Thanks for your help.
I have to add that the iMac is amazing and at the same time terribly disappointing because of no means to input sound other than the built in mic. It is bad. It is perfect for a home studio because it is dead quiet, unlike my old Mac Pro. I can't for the life of me figure why Apple did not enable this computer for this. GarageBand is useless because of this. Kind of a shame.

Open Disk Utility. Do this:
Repair the HDD
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
If your startup volume, usually "Macintosh HD" is not shown in the sidebar list of Disk Utility, then the volume is gone and must be reformatted and OS X reinstalled:
Install or Reinstall Mavericks or Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

What is wrong with my LCD? Help!

Hi guys,
Hoping you can give me some advice on what is going on with my screen.
I have attached a photo but basically anything that is usually white on the screen now shows up as vertical blue lines.
It is not a software/driver problem as it occurs on startup/in the bios, and it doesnt occur if I connect an external monitor.
I have tried swapping the RAM around etc and the problem still occurs so dont think its video ram (uses the same ram?)
The problem has been getting progressively worse. By pushing on either the palm rest or sometimes on the power strip cover the problem goes away for a while but then comes back in 5 minutes. So I assume it must be some cable/connection.
Is it worth me trying to repair this myself? Where should I start? Replace the signal cable?

if you have valid warranty, just call lenovo support.
you may void your warranty if you have. if you don't hava valid one, it could be cable, connector, graphic card or lcd itself.
