What's showing in the layer palette is different than what is on the canvas - Illustrator CS6
I am not a super user in Illustrator but I know my way around it and understand more than the basics. I downloaded this vector from Shutterstock, but what I am seeing on the layer palette is different from what is on the canvas and if I try to save or export it to anything else the result comes out looking like the layers palette - almost black.
And it's only happening on a few of the objects, as you can see from the image, the apple and other leaves are fine. It is also doing it to the pumkin and some of the grapes in the cornicopia. Any idea what is going on? I checked all my layers to see if something looked weird but they all look fine...
When I open the original .eps file from Shutterstock in Photoshop, I get the same black objects.
What OS? If Mac, then this might be affecting you.

In the Color picker, the selection in the color palette is different than preview.
Working in Illustrator CS5 on a Mac. When choosing a color in the palette, the preview showing up is different than what is in the palette. If I hit "OK" the actual color chosen is the one in the palette, not the preview window... Including some pics for reference.
In my 10+ years of using Illustrator, i have never seen this.
I am using a Dell monitor on a mac... not sure if that would make a difference.The new/old color preview box is not color managed and thus not reliable. I think that's the way it has always been. It will be the same as the selected color if you assign to your document the color space of your monitor using Edit > Assign Profile. People without a custom monitor color profile by default will not encounter this problem - they always see the colors wrong but consistent. Once you have a custom made monitor color profile you will see a difference between the same color in color managed and non-color managed software and sometimes parts of the same program like Illustrator can be color and non-color managed.

I've just noticed that Motion 4 has started to 'act up'. When I open a new (or old) project the elements aren't visible, though they are obviously are there - they show up in the project pane. I can export and the quicktime opens and plays without trouble. I've also noticed that text, which before used to look razor sharp, looks jagged, as if not rendering properly. Can anybody shed any light on these?
You Sir, are a bounder! Actually I wouldn't touch Color Munki with a bargepole. I actually use an eye-one Display Two for that sort of thing. I've done no calibration for a wile, so I don't think that thats the problem.
The books not bad though, Patrick; even so, I would have like a bit more on Motion 4, especially an indepth look at the Preferences setup. Perhaps you and Mark could get together and do something along those lines?
Just tried again and the dredded 'jaggies' have reappeared and the use of colour has sent it off on one. This could be a long night! -
Layer Palette Icons different when images turned off
It's hard for me to set apart everthing in the icon palette now that the white bounding box is gone, and the icons are different. But can at least the vector mask be like it was in CS5? Also can the bounding box on icons come back? I attached an image.

Where can I download or aquire the HTML5 Pack for Illustrator CS6? I would like to be able to save files for HTML5 and CSS. According to the "Adobe Illustrator CS6 On Demand" book, I should be able to download the HTML5 Pack from the following link: labs.adobe.com/downloads/illustrator_html5.html. That link does not work. Please help. Thanks.
If this is true the HTML5 Pack for Illustrator has been deprecated, then how is one to save Illustrator CS6 files for HTML5 and CSS now? Is there another workaround?

Both Photoshop and Bridge open as usual. But when I open an image, the image does not show in the image area. The image filename does show in a tab and the layers show in the layer panel. What is going on and how do I fix this.
I resolved the problem. It was somehow related to my using Microsoft
theme pictures. I set Windows to use the basic theme and the problem
went away. Thank you for the suggestions.

Layer palette not maintaining state, what to do??
Problem: Layer palette chages state between the closing and reopening of a file.
What I would like to be able to do is open a .ai file and have the layer palette exactly the way the way I left it when I closed the file. Currently upon reopening a file many of the layers will be fully expanded and I have to go through and collapse them all.
Is there a way to force Illustrator to maintain layer palette state between file sessions?
Thanks.The behaviour - or the issue - has been introduced in Illustrator 9, the first version which included nested layers. The behaviour has been legitimately criticised pretty often.
However, if you want to collapse/expand all layers in one step you might consider converting your main layers into sublayers. That is:
• Create a new 'master layer' on top of the entire stack of main layers
• Drag all main layers onto the master layer in order to make them sub layers of the master layer
• Now you can Alt/Option Click the triangle on the left-hand side of the master layer in order to collapse or expand all sublayers
Of course, this way is only applicable if using sublayers is an option for you. -
When I open iTunes, it will not allow me to preview or download TV shows. The preview and download options are gray and will not let me view them. I have tried installing the latest Quicktime but it tells me that I have to do software update and when I do, Quicktime does not appear to need an update. I have no idea what to do
Click on your preference and check the Parental tab for possible restrictions. Open iTunes, then click the iTunes menu, select preferences after the window opens click on the Parental icon, take a look at the content restrictions section.

I have lightroom 5.7. Now I have apple TV to connect my Mac to the TV scree. I wish to do a slide show on the TV. However, on the Mac, using ITunes to share photos with the TV, I cannot locate all photo files. What is the best way to save the slide show and put it where the Mac sharing can find it? So far, I made on one folder in Lightroom, put some photos there and I found them easily. Can this be done with a slide show? Please help quickly! Also worried that the photos I put on the new folder are hard to find afterwards, when the show is done. Where do they go when I delete from from the new folder?I am not alone
Not that I'm aware of. You just export JPEG copies to a folder that you can point iTunes to. For instance, I have created a folder in my Pictures folder called Apple TV. And within that folder I have other folders of pictures that I can choose from in iTunes to share with Apple TV. But there doesn't seem to be any way to share a Lightroom slideshow. If you have laid to create a video file that would probably work. Apple TV is a little clunky in my opinion. Some things are a little more difficult to do now than they were a while back. I probably haven't provided you with much help, but just keep experimenting and I think you will figure it out.

I dropped my ipod touch 3 generation into some water. I let it dry off completely befor turning it back on. Now it shows me the itunes logo and the usb cord picture. I restored my ipod, and now it won't connect to itunes or my computer. What should I do?

I purchased a tv show from itunes. I can sync to my iphone. I tried to sync to ipod touch 4gen. Sync seems to be fine, but the video doesn't show up. While downloading from the store it shows in the list, when done, it disappears. what is happening?
I finally figured it out. I had the parental controls restricting videos on my son's ipod. Once I changed the restrictions, the videos appeared.http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/download/
Fill out a customer service request, they will respond. I had a problem with my account and Apple was very helpful.

Exporting PDF document to Excel. When I export a PDF document to Excel containing lists of people the Excel page shows all the names on one line several inches deep instead of on separate lines which makes editing impossible. What am I doing wrong?
Murray is right. Padding (and margins) is added to the width. However, when using percentages, you should never use figures that add up to exactly 100%.
Browsers need to convert the percentages to pixels. Because pixels must be whole numbers, some percentages are rounded up, which results in the final element dropping down below its neighbours. With percentages, it's much safer to use values that add up to 98% (99% often works, but 98% is safer). -
What to do now when my iPad won't turn on after I turn it off. It shows only the apple logo. I am sure it has above 70% charge as when I sync my iPad it shows necessary detail in iTunes. I have tried, HOME & POWER button, but did not work.
First try a Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least Ten seconds... (But can take Longer)... until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons

Acrobat reader will not print what is showing on the screen
I created a business card in a graphic design program, exported it as a PDF file. When I open the pdf file in acrobat, it will display correctly on the screen, but will not print correctly.
When I click on the print icon, a box opens and shows a small preview of what is supposed to print. What shows in the small preview box is correct, but when it prints, it drops off text.
When I go back to the program that created the card, it will print correctly from that program. When I open the pdf file in Photoshop, it will print correctly in Photoshop. It just drops off text in Acrobat Pro or Acrobat Reader when printing.This sounds very similar to the issue that I am having.
acrobat pro printing correctly ,same file with adobe reader printing grey instead of black.
Unfortunately I have not yet gotten any feedback, and your post being over 45 days without a response doesn't bode well for my issue either.

A yellow means no Mac OS partition for a HDD.
Maybe you have a power symbol like this one
If so, your mac is having Kernel Panics.
Could be caused by a system folder corrupted, faulty HDD, Faulty RAM or FAulty Logic Board.
What to do:
- Backup your data (use TimeMachine if possible)
- Erase your HDD and Make a fresh install
- If still happens, there is a hardware issue. If works fine on a new install, it was OS, so just start migrating your data back.
