What's so special about ipad

i think it's only bigger

Having a larger screen makes far more difference than people who haven't worked with an iPad often think. In addition, the iPad has 3G and GPS capabilities, something that the iPod touch does not. But whether any of the iPad's differences would be valuable to you I cannot say. Go to an iPad dealer and spend some time with it. Then you can decide for yourself.

  • What do you think about iPad 3?

    iPad 3 is most likely (pretty much certainly) going to be unveiled on March 7, 2012. What do you think iPad 3 will incorporate, based on this photo?

    Hmm... maybe Apple put those apps in the picture to fool us, they're really going to withdraw them?
    What is most interesting about that pic is the lack of a home button... but I don't think that means anything for this model.

  • What is this talk about iPads malfunctioning?

    my wallet was stolen containing my reciept? What can I do if this happens to mine? When I spend this much money on a product I don't expect this crap. I'm rather frustrated.

    If you bought it from an Apple Store did you give them (or have they already got) your email address ? When I've bought things from their stores I've had copies of the receipt emailed to me as well as (or sometimes instead of) a printed receipt.
    But if you have a problem with the iPad then check with the store - I'm not 100% sure about this (I've never tried to return anything to them) but I would assume that they will have their own record of serial numbers and sales. If you bought it online then I think that you can logon and view purchases (?)

  • What Apple told me about iPad 2 light bleeding

    When I went to the store, the genius told me that the light bleeding will do away over time because of the glue drying. Is this true, did anybody have any luck?

    iPad 1's have light leakage. This is not a new issue and is most noticeable when watching a movie in the dark and it's a dark scene. At least I experienced this with my iPad Wifi (which I later returned) and then also my iPad WiFi + 3G (which I ebayed). I can't speak for my iPad 2 because it's still in China probably being assembled. I will say that the light leakage issue was definitely annoying for me and Apple really did not have a solution for the problem. What's really going to be interesting is to see whether the white iPad (which is the model I purchased) has any light leaking through the white border around the screen. We shall see.

  • What is new/special about Family Photo Stream in iOS 8?

    When it was announced at WWDC, I was hoping Family Photo Stream would automatically upload all photos from all of my family's devices into one photo stream that would then synchronize across all the other devices, including iPhoto 2013 on my iMac.
    But it seems each family member has to manually add photos to the Family Photo Stream.
    In iOS 7, it was already possible to create a shared photo stream, add your family members, and enable them to post to it.
    So what, if anything, does iOS 8's Family Photo Stream do that is different?

    Yes, as far as I can tell, after enabling Family Sharing and my wife and I now having different iCloud accounts on our phones, Photo Stream does not appear to be shared between us any more. It appears that only the "Family Photos" album is shared, and we have to manually add photos and videos to that.
    One of my favourite features of sharing the same iCloud account across multiple devices was that Photostream synced all our family's photos across all devices, no matter who took them. This appears to be a missing feature in Family Sharing for now -- perhaps Apple wasn't aware this was something people were doing?

  • What is so special about the "ticket" login module stack?

    G'day,
    I am observing some odd behaviour with login module stacks.
    I have a custom login module that performs authentication using information in the HTTP servlet request. This custom login module does not require any interaction from the user. I want to use this custom login module when I authenticate to the portal.
    By default, the portal uses an authentication scheme known as "uidpwdlogon", which uses the "ticket" login module stack, which is configured to perform basic password login. When I attempt to access the portal I am presented with a username/password page and I need to enter a username and password, hit the "submit" button, and access to the portal is granted.
    So I replaced the BasicPasswordLoginModule entry in the "ticket" login module stack with my custom login module, and now access to the portal is granted automatically, as expected. There is no username/password page displayed.
    But if I create a new login module stack that contains exactly the same modules as "ticket" login module stack, and modify the "uidpwdlogon" authentication scheme to use my new login module stack instead of the "ticket" login module stack, then something odd occurs: I am now presented with a username/password page again. I need to hit the "submit" button to navigate away from this page before the custom login module stack will process, which will then grant access to the portal.
    If I change the "uidpwdlogon" authentication scheme back to use the "ticket" login module stack (which is exactly the same as the previous login module stack), then access to the portal is granted automatically without showing a username/password page.
    So: if the (modified) "ticket" login module stack is used, there's no username/password page shown. If a copy of that login module stack is used, then a username/password page is shown.
    What's going on here?

    G'day,
    Thanks for the reply.
    The relevant parts of the authschemes.xml file are as follows:
            <authscheme name="uidpwdlogon">
                <authentication-template>myloginstack</authentication-template>
                <priority>21</priority>
                <frontendtype>2</frontendtype>
                <frontendtarget>com.sap.portal.runtime.logon.certlogon</frontendtarget>
            </authscheme>
            <authscheme-ref name="default">
                <authscheme>uidpwdlogon</authscheme>
            </authscheme-ref>
            <authscheme-ref name="UserAdminScheme">
                <authscheme>uidpwdlogon</authscheme>
            </authscheme-ref>
    Note that I have changed the uidpwdlogon element to use "myloginstack" instead of "ticket", and changed the priority from 20 to 21, as suggested (but it should be noted that the outcome is the same regardless of priority).
    The "ticket" login module stack is defined as follows:
      EvaulateTicketLoginModule SUFFICIENT {ume.configuration.active=true}
      MyLoginModule REQUISITE {...}
      CreateTicketLoginModule OPTIONAL {ume.configuration.active=true}
    and the "myloginstack" is defined identically as follows:
      EvaulateTicketLoginModule SUFFICIENT {ume.configuration.active=true}
      MyLoginModule REQUISITE {...}
      CreateTicketLoginModule OPTIONAL {ume.configuration.active=true}
    When the "uidpwdlogon" authentication scheme is configured to use the "myloginstack" login module stack, the browser immediately opens up the normal username/password page. I wait for a few minutes (for logging reasons), then hit submit, and access to the portal is granted.
    The log output for this is as follows:
    Message : LOGIN.FAILED
    User: N/A
    Authentication Stack: myloginstack
    Login Module                                                            Flag        Initialize  Login      Commit     Abort      Details
    com.sap.security.core.server.jaas.EvaluateTicketLoginModule             SUFFICIENT  ok          false                 true
    MyLoginModule                                                           REQUISITE   ok          exception             true       Further authentication required from client
    com.sap.security.core.server.jaas.CreateTicketLoginModule               OPTIONAL    ok                                true
    Message : LOGIN.OK
    User: testuser
    Authentication Stack: myloginstack
    Login Module                                                            Flag        Initialize  Login      Commit     Abort      Details
    com.sap.security.core.server.jaas.EvaluateTicketLoginModule             SUFFICIENT  ok          false      false
    MyLoginModule                                                           REQUISITE   ok          true       true
    com.sap.security.core.server.jaas.CreateTicketLoginModule               OPTIONAL    ok          true       true
    Central Checks                                                                                true
    There are two login stack events because the first login stack event asks the browser to pass along authentication data, which is processed in the second login stack event.
    Also note that the time of the first login module event is a few minutes after the username/password page appears, suggesting that the portal is attempting to obtain information before it processes the login module stack.
    If I change the "uidpwdlogon" authentication scheme to use the "ticket" login module stack, then no username/password page appears and the security log is essentially identical to that of "myloginstack":
    Message : LOGIN.FAILED
    User: N/A
    Authentication Stack: ticket
    Login Module                                                            Flag        Initialize  Login      Commit     Abort      Details
    com.sap.security.core.server.jaas.EvaluateTicketLoginModule             SUFFICIENT  ok          false                 true
    MyLoginModule                                                           REQUISITE   ok          exception             true       Further authentication required from client
    com.sap.security.core.server.jaas.CreateTicketLoginModule               OPTIONAL    ok                                true
    Message : LOGIN.OK
    User: testuser
    Authentication Stack: ticket
    Login Module                                                            Flag        Initialize  Login      Commit     Abort      Details
    com.sap.security.core.server.jaas.EvaluateTicketLoginModule             SUFFICIENT  ok          false      false
    MyLoginModule                                                           REQUISITE   ok          true       true
    com.sap.security.core.server.jaas.CreateTicketLoginModule               OPTIONAL    ok          true       true
    Central Checks                                                                                true
    I am creating the "myloginstack" login module stack using the Visual Administrator tool, by clicking the "Add" button for the "Policy Configurations" tab of the SecurityProvider service. Note that when I do this the entry for "myloginstack" gets a diamond icon, while the entry for "ticket" has a different icon (resembling a graph). I do not know what these different icons beside each policy configuration imply (is "ticket" different to "myloginstack" somehow?) nor how to create a new policy configuration that will have different icon.
    I assume the username/password page is shown because the <frontendtarget> element in the "uidpwdlogon" authentication scheme is defined to use "com.sap.portal.runtime.logon.certlogon". Perhaps there is another value I can use here that displays nothing and redirects the browser directly to the portal?

  • What is so special about the "Hot Towel" project template?

    I think one could already have build single page applications back in 2003 with classic ASP.NET.

    Hi galien82,
    Do you mean that you use the VS2003 or the VS2013?
    Actually it is the asp.net issue like this document:
    http://www.asp.net/single-page-application/overview/templates/hottowel-template
    I suggest you post this issue to the ASP.net forum:
    http://forums.asp.net
    I get the extension tool for VS2012 and VS2013 if you mean that it is the VS2013. You know that the VS2003 is really old, we don’t support this product now.

  • My rue la la app for ipad suddenly dosent work so I deleted it now when I try to reinstall it the app store says that it not available in the us. It is still on my Iphone and working properly. What is this all about?

    My rue la la app for ipad stopped working. I deleted the app and tried to reinstall it,  it is no longer available in the app store and when I research it on safari and find it when i try to install it says that it is not available in the us store. What is that all about?

    My app did the exact same thing. It is still unavailable on the App Store and when Rue La La's site directs you to download their app, the "not available in the U.S. message appears. This happened to me last night. The app wasn't working, I deleted it and was just going to reinstall but was unable to find the app. I figured it was some glitch but I have tried multiple times this afternoon to no avail.

  • I am confused about something.  How do I read a book on my MacBook Pro?  I can't find the iBook app anywhere, which is what I use on my iPad.  The book I want to read is in my iTunes but I can't click on it.  My iBook library does not show up in iTunes.

    I am confused about something.  How do I read a book on my MacBook Pro?  I can't find the iBook app anywhere, which is what I use on my iPad.  The book I want to read is in my iTunes but I can't click on it.  Some of my iBooks show up in my iTunes but they are "grayed" out.  The only books that respond in iTunes are audiobooks and that's not what I'm looking for.  Is this a stupid question?

    Nevermind - I answered my own question, which is I CAN"T READ ANY BOOKS I purchased in iBooks on my MacBook Pro.  If I want to read on my mac I have to use Kindle or Nook.  Which means any book I've already purchased through iBooks has to be read on my iPad.  Kind of a drag because there are times when it's more convenient for me to read while I'm sitting with my Mac.

  • IPad 3 light leak under the bezel? What have you done about it?

    If you have an iPad 3. Tilt towards you, looking underneath the bezel (under the camera) has your iPad got any lights showing? It's not bleeding onto the screen, in fact it doesn't interfere at all under normal use of the iPad. I have read many forums and it does seem to be quite common,but i would like to know what have you done about it? Have you replaced within 14 days and got a brand new iPad and been satisfied ? Or have you had another with worse or different issues? Or have you ignored the issue and kept the iPad?
    I walked into comet and the first iPad 3 I picked up had exactly the same issue. I asked the bloke, he said yes? It's no problem, it's common in led screens and with the iPads new retina screen your bound to get this problem on some but it's no problem as doesn't effect your everyday use. Not the point though is it, we pay 400-579 for this thing!
    I also rang apple and they spoke with their technical team and they came back and said the lights under the bezel seems unusual. To try and restore the iPad and see if that solves it. Solves a hardware problem?? How did they get their jobs? Crazy. So now I am in the middle of returning the iPad for a replacement but I am debating whether to even bother as I have read a lot of replacements people have received have numerous other problems, like dead pixels, light leakage, scratches.
    I would appreciate any feedback from those who have had this same issue and what did you do about it ?

    Mine has some along the right side. It is very slight, and does not affect the screen,even with a black image displayed in a dark room. So I chose to ignore it. This iPad will be going back though, as the bottom half of the screen has a pink tint on it. My advice is to see if it affects a dark picture in a dark room. If it doesn't, I would keep it. But in the end, you have to make your own decision and be comfortable with it. :)

    When syncing my iPad with my computer I keep getting the notice ' waiting for changes to be applied '.  What is this all about ?

    If everything is working OK, I believe it simply means that the iPad and iTunes are communicating and that any changes that you made to the sync configuration are waiting to go through. If you updated apps on the iPad and they get transferred into iTunes or if you download new songs onto the iPad and they are being transferred into iTunes, any app data that moves back and forth - those would be changes that need to be applied.
    If you can't finish the sync and that's why you are asking, can you provide more specific details?
