WHAT'S THAT TERRIBLE NOISE?????

I've just bought a 60GB video IPOD and I'm already terrified with its problems... specially because I didn't buy it in my country and don't believe I could just change it.....
Well, while I start listening to it, after just a few minutes (like 2 or 3) a very loud and sharp noise starts while I still listen to the music very low.....
It's happening in the car, with the earphones and stereos...
The IPOD just comes back after reseting it, but after the 2 minutes listenning there comes back that ****** noise!!!
Should I use the others "R's"? Or am I screwed?

I have the same issue and it started appearing since this years official Apple ipod update. The issue is that after few minutes of playback (sometimes even up to 30 minutes!) the music playback is degraded significantly - or you can say that it is noisy... THE FIX IS is to restore your ipod with 2005-10-12 ipod update software and NOT installing any more recent updates. Even the latest from 2006-03-23 is not addressing this issue. You can find update soft in your applications/uttilities folder - or, if you are a new user -- well, I hope there is one available in versiontracker.com or apple/osx/downloads
Now, I am surprised that Apple didn't recognized and included this issue fix in the past few updates. Seems to me they are getting sloppy... Second outrageous thing is that you can only post your comments on this forum - there is absolutely no direct bug post regarding ipod related issues (there could be one in itunes for example). Safari, itunes and other software have it. Anyone listening?
I have 5g ipod with video 60 gb version.

  • What's that mechanical noise on startup?

I think it comes from the optical drive. I hit the power button, the drive makes it's noise, and then the speakers go "aaaaaahhh". What's the mechanical noise for exactly?
On a side note, my best friend's computer is a Santa Rosa MBP (November 2007) with a 7200 rpm hd. His mechanical noise sounds different from mine (Santa Rosa June 2007 5400 rpm hd). Why is that?

Probably the optical drive checking for the presence of a disc, KWarp.
Why does yours sound different to your friend's? A different brand or model of drive perhaps (You can check this using "System Profiler")

  • What's that hissing noise

My Macbook pro is a year old and I use it for school, so have it on for hours every day. Just last week I began to hear a hissing noise, or is a fan? I don't know, but I've never heard it before. It's not real loud, but it's noticeable. Any ideas?

I too have this problems. I purchased my Macbook Pro July of 2010, and recently it began making a hissing noise. It makes the sound three times, and on the same pattern each time. Mine is also not that loud, but still considerably noticeable. What should we do?

When my iBook got hot like that, I would take a break and let it cool down.
You can buy laptop desks that have USB powered fans on them, such as the Targus Chill Mat.

  • My mac made a heating noise, what does that mean?

I woke up this morning to my macbook pro making this loud heating noise, like an exhaust fan. What does that mean?

More Information on your Mac would be great, thats kind of vague.
But Macbook Pro's do have a (all i can really speak of) exhaust on the back right where the screan attaches to the body of the mac, and some times when running certain processor intense programs like games, or Photo / Movie editing programs will make this turn on, and yes it can be loud and anoying, but its nothing really to worry about.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Terrible noise on Pavillion

Ten month ago, i bought my first pavillon.
    What's error !!!!
Few week later, it begun to play a terrible noise.
The diagnostic was easy : graphic card cooler. I photo to hp support team, who try to flash the bios before listenning my probleme. After that they explain me that it was inpossible to semd me new fan, or a graphic card ...
They can send harddrive, crdrom drive.. but no other part.... Strange.
The fan is a SMY DFS 601012D. May it cost less than 3 dollors to HP.
But these 3 buck will cost them more than one client!
Does any of you have got the same probleme with the team support ?
(i've read a thread, where a guy have a card exchange...)

Strange nobody have experienced the same problem
Well, I think I fixed the noise issues myself.
Have you ever noticed the noise from your stereo speakers when you recieve a sms?
Well, the noise I experienced all the time was that kind of 'sms noise'.
What seems to eliminate the problem is this:
    In settings,
    - turn "Airplane mode" off
    - turn "Do not disturb" off (this is a new setting in IOS 6)
Maybe this can be helpful to somebody else

    Hey guys
I get a terrible noise on the audiotracks recording with Apogee Mic in Garageband on iPhone 4S and iPad 3rd generation, both have IOS 6 installed.
Apogee support have not been helpfull, neither Google, but maybe you guys have experienced the same problem?
I tried to test on an iPhone 4 with IOS 5 installed and it worked fine, clean recordings, no noise.

  • What is the "Random Noise" specification in the AI Absolute Accuracy Table

I have a PCI-6255 board that I'm planning to use for some sensitive measurements.
I'm trying to put together an end-to-end error budget and I have a couple questions.
My model is in terms of analog-to-digital converter counts (also known as LSB in your data sheet).
In the Absolute Accuracy table on page 5 of the NI 615x Specifications I see a column labeled Random Noise, (uVrms).
I think I understand the residual gain error, residual offset error, and associated Tempco, and the INL error but the Random Noise is puzzling me.
Here is why:  on the +/- .2V range, the random noise is 16 uV.  On this range, the ADC resolution is 6.1 uV so the random noise is about 2.6LSB
If I look at the +/-5V range I see a random noise of 140uV.  On this range, the ADC resolution is 305uV so the random noise is well under one LSB.
Therefore, in my error budget I can use "1 LSB" for the random noise when on the 5V range but I have to use "2.6" or "3" LSB when on the .2V range.
I expect a signal of aproximately 150mV riding on a 2.5V DC level.  I was concerned I might need to offset the signal (remove the 2.5V dc) in order to use the +/-.2 volt range to get better resolution.  I also thought I would get better noise performance too.  In looking at the numbers here though it looks like I would be better off using the +/-5V range (assuming it gives good enough resolution) because the readings have less noise counts (even though it is more noise volts).
I can account for the Gain Error and Offset Error by injecting known signals and doing a "software correction".  Not sure, but I believe I can also correct for the INL if I use a polynomial fit of 2nd or 3rd order.  It's the random noise I'm having problems understanding.
Here's the question:  what is the Random Noise shown in the AI Accuracy table for the 625x boards?  Can you give an example of how NI might have measured it?
Secondly, note 2 says "Sensitivity is the smallest voltage change that canbe detected. It is a fucntion of noise."  Was this measured with a signal-to-noise ratio of "1" or "2" or some other standard, or is this a calculated value?
    Thanks

  • Terrible noise appears when it wants and as long as it wants

    <hi @ all,
    I have a Creative x-fi music running on Win7. ?
Normally i have an amazing good sound, but sometimes just out of a sudden it gets terrible (a terrible noise comes to the foreground and the normal sound gets "deeper"). This just appears whenever it wants to.
Sometimes right after PC start for like 2secs, sometimes when i have the PC running for like 0hs without problems.
It suddenly comes and suddenly goes. There is no "program" i started before etc.
And it lasts as long as it wants to, sometimes secs, sometimes minutes (till i restart the pc).
    Like:
I start the PC, close all programms running?<span class="lia-user-name UserName" ?<span class="lia-user-name UserName" in background and start VLC to watch a movie.
The movie runs for 2hs without any problems. Suddenly the noise appeary without me even touching the mouse.
2mins later the noise is gone.
I already tried different drivers. The onBoard soundcard (which is deactivated when im running the creative card) has no problems.
Anyone know what this could be or even better how to fix this? Ive really no idea.
Or anyone experienced <span class="lia-user-name UserName" this problem before?
    Thx for help,
    theNick

I keep encountering same once in every 2-3 days.
Restarting windows audio service solves the problem

  • Terrible noise if no audio signal active (Win7 x64)

    Hi all
since few weeks I get a terrible noise (f~10kHz)  out of the electronic of my T500. It is not coming out of the speaker.  Working on the notebook produces terrible headache.
Now I found out, that it is coming somehow from soundcard.
When I start any audio program, say VLC or Winamp and  play any audio file with "zero volume", the noise disappear.
Even some sound events from windows, like mousehover, stops the noise for the duration of audio output.
    I'm using Win7 x64.
    Has anybody the same issue?
    Any ideas?

It's remarkable that even after releasing a Win7 driver this month that Creative Labs is STILL incapable of getting this product supported.
Wireless music volume control still does not work through Win7 volume control.
    Useless product.

what is the fluttering noise coming from my desktop?

Probably a fan.  Could be hard drive noise, a CD or DVD that has a label on it.
Can you describe the sound more fully, what it sounds like, when and how often it occurs?

You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.
To get back to having menus again. "Firefox" button -> Options (second column) -> (check) Menu Bar
You can make '''Firefox 7.0.1''' look like Firefox 3.6.*, see numbered '''items 1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 8.0, look like 3.6)].
