What's the average time for a User Tip to get published?

Hello fellow Discussions members.
I have posted [a tip in the User Tips Contributions Forum concerning the interworking of Apple Mail and Gmail IMAP|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1692982] on 3rd of September 2008 and in a follow-up post announced that it's ready for publication the same day. I never got any feedback, complaints or objections, so I assume the tip is ok. I followed the given directions on the procedure word-for-word.
Now, if you enter the User Tips Contributions Forum you can read the following concerning the process of publication (step 4):
*Approximately 5 days* after you announce that your tip is completed (if there is no objection from another user), a Host will lock the thread and either move your completed tip to the User Tips Library or edit the existing tip. (My emphasis)
So, obviously, the 5 day period is by now long exceeded and I was just wondering if my post will ever get published... Don't get me wrong, it's ok if it takes more than a month for a tip to get published - as long as potential contributors get informed that way. *What I find irritating is the statement about the 5 day period as it's obviously misleading.* Either my tip is inappropriate (in which case I expect a notification) or it is all right and gets published during the stated period. Neither happened up to this day. So, what gives?
I'd appreciate any feedback concerning this. Thanks in advance for your replies.

a brody, thanks for your quick reply. Although you might get a different impression from my post, I am patient All I ask for is to honestly state the time a publication may take. I come to the conclusion that the talk about "approximately 5 days" is complete eyewash!

  • What is the average speed for the fans? Mine seem really slow.

What is the average speed for the fans in a MacBook Pro? When my computer is fairly idle, like right now, the fans are at roughly 1000 rpm each. Is that normal? I have seen posts where the fans are 2500-5000 rpm, so mine seem a bit low. That may explain why my computer has been getting hotter more quickly lately - this started happening after Apple replaced my logic board a few days ago.

I installed smcFanControl2 and according to that program, Apple's defaults are 2,000RPMs and the program will not let you set it any lower than that because of the increased risk of damage.
My fans are always at 2,000RPMs during normal usage, and then once I fire up a DVD or Photoshop it usually goes up to the 3,000s or so.

If you know that you will not be asked to design GUI interfaces, and the C programming course will adhere to command line compilation environments, then get the Xcode command-line developer tools, and skip the extra complication of Xcode until you absolutely need it. Apple has kicked GNU C to the curb and is rightly so, using Clang/LLVM compiler technology.
Sign up for a free Apple Developer account using your Apple ID, and then visit the Mac Dev Center, and towards the bottom of the page, you will see additional downloads. Click on the associated, all down loads link. Know your OS X version beforehand, as the command-line tool releases are tied to general operating system versions, and the most recent Xcode version.  That said, there are currently two March 9, 2015 command-line tools for Xcode 6.2 — one for OS X 10.9 Mavericks, and the other for OS X Yosemite.

  • Norway - any know what´s the delivery time for purchase new iPhone 4S?

On the web it says 1-2 weeks. Is that a reality?

Theo - while I do not live or work in your part of the country I can at least share my experience.  I had a state of the art Droid Charge 4G LTE prior to getting the iPhone 4S.  Keeping all things equal, when I used my Charge on 3G, which was almost the entire time I owned it, it was slower than what I am getting on my new iPhone.  I was averaged .1 - ,5 down with my Charge and I am getting .5 - 1.2 down on my iPhone.  I really don't know what difference location makes other than the sheer amount of people on the network, but the iPhone should outperform your old Droid.
I would recommend calling Apple Care or stopping by a genius bar at an Apple store.  You could also check the download speeds of display phones at a store, then compare yours at the same time for a determination of a harware issue or data issue.  I know this is some work, but it should narrow down a cause.

  • What is the correct way for each user to have there own data?

    Hi All,
I'm building an app that each user that logs in sees no one else's data except what he or she enters.
What is the proper way for the easiest maintenance using this model?
    Where do I start?
    Thank you, Bill

    Bill,
Look into Fine Grained Access Control (FGAC). It is Oracle's version of Virtual Private Database (VPD). In a nutshell what it does is when a "SELECT * FROM table" is used against a table that has a policy on it, the policy will append the appropriate WHERE clause to the SELECT statement automatically. In you instance you probably have some type of USERNAME column. When "SELECT * FROM table" was executed the database engine would change it to "SELECT * FROM table WHERE USERNAME = 'RIFE'" and execute that SELECT statement. You write a function which returns the text to be automatically appended to the WHERE clause. You define a policy on the table which names the function to fire.
Google for "Fine Grained Access Control" or "Virtual Private Database".
(Sorry I duplicated what Jes posted. Great minds think alike.)

  • What is the best format for ripping CD's to get the best quality?

I'm sure this has been asked before but I wanted to see what was the latest thinking.  Any ideas of the additional Hard Drive usage?  Thanks

My questions are: What are the best settings for ripping cd's in the AAC format?
It is a matter of opinion, but I suggest 256 kb/s, CBR, and leave all other settings on automatic.
Will I be able to burn cd mixes with the tracks I import into itunes after importing using the AAC format?
Yes. Just put them in a playlist and burn.
Does the AAC format have VBR like the MP3 format?
Yes. You will see it as an option in the Import Settings.
Is there other ripping software such as dbPoweramp and Exact Audio Copy that does a better job ripping cd's in the AAC format?
EAC does a better job of correcting errors in damaged CDs, but for normal CDs iTunes does a fine job of ripping to AAC.

  • What is the average time it takes to install

I don't have time for this nonsense "mark this discussion as a question"
How hard is it to ask, HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO DOWNLOAD!
and then see, someone answers the question

That depends on the size of the IT  and the download connection speed. For example a large download like Photoshop CC which is 1.3GB  may take fifteen minuets on a high speed cable connection that can transfer 5 to 15 MBits per second however the same download may take a day on a low speed Phone modem connection. What is the size of your IT and how fast is your internet download connection speed? Do the Math.....

  • IPod Nano 6th Generation: What's the standby time for the new iPod Nano?

This hasn't been mentioned anywhere that I know of.

Four hours with usage, is based on how heavily you have been using it, which affects how fast the battery drains, so that looks reasonable.
The charging time varies for different devices so you should not take the suggested time as an absolute value, it is only a suggestion.  You are getting good battery charge performance, looks good.

  • What is the Charging time for 4th generation iPad when fully discharged?

    Hi,
I just want to know the 4th generation iPad charging time with 12 volts Charger when fully discharged?

Apple does not publish charging times with various sources, but usually a few hours, like 4-6 hours.  If you charge it overnight you won't notice how long it takes.

  • What's the max time for a project to burn in iDVD?

I have a iMovie HD priject thats almost 4 hours long, right now when I open in iDVD, it says it's too big. So my question- what size should my movie be to fit? Under 2 hours? Is that too much? IS there any easier way to tell if it will fit without always trying to export to iDVD? I have one long movie with 29 chapters in it.
I would really appreciate any suggestions anyone may have on proceeding with this.

    Hi Owen,
iDVD has 2 encoding modes, "Best Performance" takes < 60 minutes, "Best Quality" takes < 120 minutes. See <a href="http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=164975">Setting the quality of a DVD. With double layer capable DVD drive, Best Quality can fit < 4 hours of video. • HT201342 What is the mail server for iCloud users? I lost all my emails, trouble with email account set-up.

I lost all me emails, what is mail set-up? Mail.me.com?

Incoming is imap.mail.me.com.  Outgoing is smtp.mail.me.com (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864).  But if you're setting up iCloud mail on OS X Lion or higher, you go to Settings>iCloud and check Mail.  This will add the account with the proper settings.

  • What is the default time settings in Process chains

    Hi,
What is the default time settings in Process chains.
How to set time settings for daily, weekly, monthly loads in Process chains.
What is the time settings that we have to take care when creating meta chains.
    Thanks,
    Madhu.

    Hi Madhu,
The Time settings for any PC is done in the start variant of the PC. There is nothing like default time setting. These settings are totally depended on the requirement and system performance. It is a general rule of thumb to load the data during a time when the user activity is minimum as the loading process is going to occupy many dialog as well as background WPs. So, if you schedule them at a time when there are many users on the system, they might feel that the system is slow. Hence, you decide as to what is the best time for scheduling a PC. The same applies to meta chain also. In case of meta chains, you make sure the dependencies of the local chains is also handled. Hope this helps.

  • Average time for a XSQL transaction

    Hi,
I have an XSQL servlet and a Oracle DB 8.1.6. I want to create an action handler that calculates the average time for a transaction, e.g. I have a "get" statements in my xsql pages and I am accessing them lets a number of times, I want to calculate the average time for these requests to be processed by the servlet. Any ideas how to do this in a smart and easy way?
    /RGDS K
PS. My idea is to create two action handlers, the first one is called before the "get" sql statment in the XSQL page, sampling the time of the beginning of the request. The second action hanlder is called after the "get" sql request in the XSQL page, sampling the time when the request is processed. Having the first and the second time samples I calculate the time intervall and then us it to calculate the average using the similar time intervalls from the previous requests. It feels like an overkill solutiuon (that is not completelly exact due to the time delay introduced by the action handlers themselfs), there should be an easier (and better?) way!!! DS.

Humm... for a 4GB iPod Nano, it should complete within 5 minutes.
Eject it and redo the Restore again, if does not help, please do a format before a restore.
    For Window computer
    Go to folder “My Computer”
Hope you can see your iPod there and right click on the iPod
Choose “Format”. Ensure the settings are at “Default” and that “Quick Format” is not checked
    Now select “Format”
Eject your iPod and do a Reset
Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”
