What's the best client isql tool on windows?

Not sure what's the best UI tool for isql on windows XP?
I have ASE 12.5.4 on Linux. Sybase Central  v6.0 and Interactive SQL on Windows XP
Sybase Central has many errors when I try it connect to Server. Interactive SQL is not convenience to use and it is easy to crash when try to trieve large amount of data.
Any better client tools for developer? like MS SQL Server Management Studio?

Hi,
Sybase Central should work. Sybase Central uses java. So you might want to check the version of java on your machine. With Sybase Central 6.0 you should have jre6 on your machine. What is the exact build of Sybase Central? If you go to Help and About in Sybase Central at the very top of the screen it should give you the complete build number. I can not recommend another tool, because I use only the native Sybase tools.
What is the default charset set to on your ASE on linux set to?
I think we can get you using the Sybase Central and Interactive SQL working fine.
Thanks,
Dawn Kim

Handbrake to copy to avi or mp4(I use it for watching my DVD's on the go, so my battery lasts for a longer time)
I think MP4 is better quallity.
To copy a DVD: simply use Toast (maybe withe popcorn, but I don't use it).

  • What is the best way to re-install Windows XP in Boot Camp?

I installed Windows XP on my Boot Camp partition on my MacBook for several months. Recently I have had serious problems with Windows Explorer (If I right click or try to copy, delete, drag files, it crashes). I've decided to just to do a clean install of XP and start over. What is the best way to do this?
I realize that I can just remove the partition through Boot Camp assistant, but I have read people on the web have had some issues doing this. I've read that to Erase and reformat the Windows partition" is easier to do.
There is also something called "Perform a Repair Installation" inside Windows XP. This would be preferable because I think this would allow all my applications to stay present. I don't have problems with my applications, just Explorer. Can I do this inside my Windows partition as if it were a normal Windows computer? This would be the best solution if it's possible.

    Axel,
Unfortunately System Restore didn't work. I tried a few dates, but what happened is it said it couldn't restore and that my computer remained unchanged. So I will move on to the next stage. Reinstall Boot Camp drivers (I don't think that will help because they've worked flawlessly for so long) and then do a REPAIR WINDOWS.
But I am going to wait until the weekend when I don't have work and can make sure I have a full backup, plus numerous other things, like doing uninstalls on some programs so that I can reinstall them should I end up with a totally complete new installation.
My experience with Windows over the decades is that a lot of their utilities don't work as promised. That's what just happened with System Restore. So if I have a problem with REPAIR WINDOWS, do I just format my windows drive within Windows and reinstall, or what? Do I have to go back to OS X, eliminate the Windows partition, and start at the beginning with a new BootCamp and Windows installation? I'm asking, because once I get started I want to have a full road map.
Also to clarify, this is with my MacBook. I have no problems with Windows on my Mac Pro.
    Thanks for your help.

  • What is the best Database Administrator Tool

In my one of my earlier organizations DB administration jobs were done with TOAD. In my next organization my Project manager told that TOAD is actually meant for developers. There the tool was DBArtisan. Now in my present company I would have to take the decision to purchase some DB Administration tool. What should I select ? Any of the two ? Or any third one ? If any suggestion comes it will be a great help for me.
    I am using Oracle 8x,9x10g
and the OSs are Unix AIX, Windows etc

It really depends on what you mean by 'Administer the database', 'Database Administrator Tool' and so on. In other words, it depends on what you really want to accomplish.
Many people want a tool to put up pretty pictures and respond to mouse clicks to 'do things'. There are a fair number of tools that accomplish this very well.
TOAD was originally for developers (hence the name Tool for Oracle Application Developer), but it has expanded dramatically to include a number of DBA capabilities. Quest, BMC, Computer Associates and others have excellent tools that are heavily into the 'draw a picture and lead the budding DBA in complacency'.
Even Oracle Enterprise Manager is great from that perspective AND it's free!!! Well, except that you license and pay for the add-on packs that make it truly useful.
To paraphrase Nicolas - the best DBA tool is an intelligent DBA using SQLPlus. All other tools will lead down the path that the tool developer has decided to use. Which may be right for some of the time, but is rarely right all the time, and rarely completely right for the latest and greatest releases of Oracle.

  • What is the best client for ARD from ubuntu linux?

I attempt to connect to my mac mini running osx 10.7 from ubuntu linux using the default vncviewer application and the tightvnc client and I get to the login display but am unable to click on any of the users nor log in.  I was successful from my windows7 laptop, but not from my windows xp HTPC--ultravnc gets to the login prompt, showed me the password field, but didn't allow me to change focus to that field, however, this isn't reproducable since I get a different behavior each time I try to remote in.

Back up all data. Update all third-party software to the latest version and remove any you don't need. Download the Yosemite installer from the App Store. Run it.

  • What are the best disc doctor tools

Okay, my G5 is running like a Commodore 64! It is SLOW and freezing all the time! it freezes on iPhoto, Mail, ..... just about anything actually to the point where it won't force quit and we are having to hold down the old international reset button.
What are the steps to go down. I've run the standard TechTool tests which seemed to pass okay. Can somebody give me the process to go through here...
I haven't Loaded any new software recently, nothing dramatic has changed on our Mac... it started to slow down so the only changes I have made is to move alot of gear off our HD and onto a external drive.
We have 191 GB free, 1.5 GB DDR SDRAM. Please... I am about to throw this out for a new computer but feel a computer with this much grunt should be able to be salvaged.
    Please help!!

The most important thing to do is backup your data as my FAQ explains:
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
Next check that the problem isn't occuring in a second user in Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Accounts.
If it is, then you have a system wide issue. If you have a system wide issue, the first utility I'd try is Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility to repair permissions.
Next if that doesn't work, verify disk. If verify disk reveals errors, boot off the 10.4 installer disk to repair disk as my directory FAQ explains:
    http://www.macmaps.com/directoryfaq.html
If the directory is good, try running Macjanitor:
    http://personalpages.tds.net/~brian_hill/macjanitor.html
If you still don't have the problem solved, go over this FAQ on the fonts:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=607630
If you still haven't solved the problem, then I'd ask if you have ever seen a kernel panic with no third party peripherals attached. Here's my FAQ on kernel panics:
    http://www.macmaps.com/kernelpanic.html
If you have, I suggest replacing the RAM.

  • What is the best way to run a Windows based software on  a Mac?  Paralles Desktop 10 for Mac or Bootcamp?

I am comparing Parallels Desktop 10 for Mac to Bootcamp.  The difference I see is a seamless operation with Parallels and the need to restart the Mac with Bootcamp.  Previously, I used VMware View Client to use the software from a virtual desktop.  Now I am looking to just use the Mac and trying to find the most efficient system.

    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows 7 or Windows 8.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusion and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. A more recent comparison of Parallels, VM Fusion, and Virtual Box is found at Virtualization Benchmarks- Parallels 10 vs. Fusion 7 vs. VirtualBox. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard and later. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • What's the best MS SQL tool(s) for managing (creation, updating, deletion, pausing, starting, etc) a bunch of replicated databases?

I'm looking for recommendations on how best to program (scripts, procedures, anything else) managing a set of databases across multiple datacenters. The tasks I would like to be able to do database by database is...
copy a specified database from one server to another ("import") without the user access rights
add replication to the "imported" database objects based on an extended property
update the replicating "imported" database, including changes to the data values, and changes in schema, without bringing down the database (rolling updates across the various datacenters is permitted)
adding/modifying a standard set of maintenance plans for each Database
removing replication from a selected database
I'm familiar with the standard SQL product but have no exposure to the other SQL components like SSIS. I have to date several SQL batch scripts that do parts of the above but it seems there must be a better way. Assume that there is one Enterprise Edition
SQL instance at each datacenter. Replication is transactional Peer 2 Peer. We are also considering if we want to add DB mirroring but have decided not to do so at this time.
BTW I'm one of those people that can't get the "copy database" menu option in SSMS to work. I'm not a DBA but it looks like I'm going to need how to act like one.
    Developer Frog Haven Enterprises

I would recommend you to get involve DBA for any such tasks. The task which are listed it's not going to be simple thing. If you don't have prior experience in High availability configuration, it's really difficulty to manage even if you've any third party.
But you can rely on backup and restore for any third party tools.
To manage database ,configure  and maintain HA you need to have SQL Server HA knowledge.
My testing so far seems to show that it's quite easy to break the replication with changes
to the databases. Using SSMS "canned" wizards and procedures to delete and recreate replication leaves many vestiges behind cluttering up the database instance.
You can create a script to cleanup the replication and re-create it from the scratch

  • What is the Best Client to Access ALL Exchange features?

I can't believe in 2006 this problem STILL
hasn't been resolved, or has it?
Our Mac users currently use a combination of
Entourage 2004 for retrieveing mail via iMap,
and for sending Large attachments to outside
vendors ( think multiple page PDF and packaged
    Indesign/font/tiff/eps archives),
Using WebMail through Firefox to access
Global Functions ( Public Folders, Calendaring
to Win XP users), and for accessing/publishing
    to the Global Contact List.
IS THERE ONE APP, that will work close to in
functionality like OUTLOOK under Win XP,
without having to maintain both Entourage and
    Webmail Client?

What exactly do you want to accomplish?

  • What are the best optimization & cleaning tools for Mac OS X?

I found a great app called MacKeeper, but it cost $500!?! I have OnyX, but it not so good because it just clean your mac and has given my mac some problems.
I really want to fix and clean my mac and give it top performance, because my windows 7 is now faster than my mac in boot camp, and my mac boot up speed is so slow, it actually slower than my 7 years old windows xp laptop!

It takes 3 minutes to get into the log-in screen. My apps bounces for 20 secs.
Then you need to begin reading the [Mac OS X speed FAQ|http://www.index-site.com/Macosxspeed.html] that you were referred to. It does sound like you're having a performance problem, but using a "cleaning tool" to do things like clear caches, run the periodic scripts, etc without a specific reason for doing so is not the right solution. You could just as easily break things worse without solving any problems. It's like firing multiple shotgun blasts into your walls, while blindfolded, to try to solve a mouse problem.
When I scanned my computer with AppKeeper, it said 1700 useless junk files and 12 performance problems.
Without knowing what those are, we have no idea how legitimate those claims may be. Some AV software will label "tracking cookies" as a danger when they are not. As sad as it is, some software companies will play up "problems" in order to sell software to solve those "problems."

  • What is the best cleanup/security tool for Lion

I am looking for a good cleanup/security tool for my iMac. Specifically for Lion. Any recommendations or horror stories will be appreciated.

anti-virus is not necessary unless you have Windows installed on a seperate partition.  Security tools aren't necessary either.  You are on a mac, not a pc.  Totally different worlds.  You can download Disk Doctor from the app store for 99 cents.  And if you insist on an a/v program, install ClamXav (it's free-do a google search for it)

  • What is the best GUI DBA tool

I'd like to use a pure Java open source GUI DBA tool.
DataBrowser from http://www.jetools.com is not so bad but it relies on hand-written SQLs
too much. I like to have a more fully GUIed tool for routine DB administration tasks because
writing complex SQLs is always error-prone and shaky.

    Hi,
I would not have RMS on my list for an enterprise password management, that's for sure.
JUst do a Bing search for "enterprise password management" and you will get good hits.
