What's the best hardcover case for the Macbook Pro Retina?

Hey everyone! I recently bought the new rMBP and since this is a very expensive piece of investment, I want to protect it with a case. I've read in some forums and other product reviews of Speck and Moshi that these are the top brands in the market... and these brands are what I am thinking about of buying.
The only concern that I have is that it might chip the aluminum of my rMBP when I'm trying to install it and it will accumulate dusk in a few weeks. If so, regular cleaning means taking my hardcase often... would it damage my laptop and the aluminum?
Any brand suggestions? Thanks! : )

So if a hardcase would make my rMBP heat up... is a skin better? I would reaaaallllyyy want to have something to protect my Mac.
I found this: http://www.amazon.com/SPIGEN-SGP-Protector-Fingerprint-Incredible/dp/B00ASNOSG6
And in some reviews online it's better than Zagg Invisible shield because it wont turn yellowish in color in the long run.

  • What is the best hardshell case for 13" macbook pro??

I wanted to know what is the best hardshell case for the 13 inch macbook pro(2010). I want one for school usage because i will be taking it around. Also i want one that doesnt scratch the macbook's aluminum.
    THANKS!

I think the best / strongest / hardest cases are the MacTruck
They aren't light but mine's been round the world a few times and kept my MBP safe in some crazy situations (like schools can be)

What is the best protective case for the iPhone 4s? If I drop my phone I don't want it to crack or break. How protective is the Gorrila Glass?

I am using the Otterbox Defender, and it's a great case.
Gorilla glass is a glass applied to phones (not the iPhone, it does not use Corning branded glass), but the iPhone screen is pretty good against scratches.

What is the best antivirus software for a Macbook Pro...I recently received a message from Google that someone made an attempt to hack into my mail account and I needed to change my PW and verify myself as the user.  The message suggested that I run a virus scan to check for sny malware or other types of viruses.  I do not have any software for this and up until now have not had a problem....any help is appreciated.  I would like a simple but effective solution!

It's worth noting that if your Gmail has been hacked, it would likely have nothing to do with your MacBook.  Hacking web based email is fairly common and it doesn't require any access to your machine whatsoever.  In the same way that you can simply go to the Gmail webpage through any browser, any hacker can use the same method.  It doesn't mean your machine has been compromised in any way (and it has likely not been).  I have never received an email from Google of this nature.  I have received notifications when someone has attempted to create an account with my name in which they basically say that there is no action required if you're the rightful owner.

What is the fastest OP system for a Macbook Pro Retina 2.6? I'm new to Mac so please excuse the weird question.

Ok but that is a feature that I think is available to older Mac's that have an SSD so it is not totally restricted to Retina models or even the newest models of Mac's.
With that you could say No Mac is what you paid for without ML installed. Which I disagree with.

    Not really sure about that.
Well, I am. Power Nap is just one of the features you don't get on a Retina unless you do run Mountain Lion.

  • What is the best keyboard case for the 15" Macbook Pro Retina?

I currently just bought the new 15" Macbook Pro Retina display to replace my old 2007 Macbook 13" however I am reluctant to use it until I find a keyboard cover.  I have read many forums already and tried the Moshi keyboard cover (which didn't fit well at all) however I still cannot decide which keyboard cover to use.  So far I have found two keyboard covers that look O.K. any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Here are the links I have found

  • What's the best case for my Macbook Pro Retina? College Student.

I have a 13 inch Macbook Pro Retina and since I will be going to college next year I am looking to protect my laptop. Any suggestions on cases or anything? Thank you!!

I wouldn't bother. The case is a tough, metal shell.
Putting any sort of covering over that is just going to attract dirt, dust and possibly interfere with cooling.

  • What is the best way to look after Macbook Pro Retina Display battery?

    Hello,
I am a little confused on how to look after the battery in my new Macbook Pro with Retina Display. I have read lots of different things and I do not seem to get a clear answer.
I feel by charging my laptop all the way, then using till 0% and doing it all over again uses the cycles faster and therefore meaning it will not last as long. I also read that having that laptop plugged in a lot of the time will also damage the battery. I have read the document Apple have posted online but it doesn't give me a time frame of what is or is not a good length of time for it to be fully charged and plugged in for. Should I charge then unplug or is it safe to have it plugged in for a few days when being used? I always unplug regardless when I am not in the room with the laptop.
Could someone please advice me on what they feel is the best way to keep the battery healthy. Thanks Benjamin

I think this is a great topic to get advice from the community, I have often wondered about this topic too.
    My thoughts/experience are:
Cycle count seems to be the factor that ages the battery - although it is not exactly clear when your cycle count will click up by 1. I suspect it must be significant use or period off charge - but no idea how to quantify that.
I mostly have my unibody 15" MBP (early 2011) plugged, so after 14 months my cycle count is 28 and the battery charges to around 93-96% of initial capacity.
I use Watts and coconutbattery to keep an eye on battery condition and Watts is set to remind me to do a complete discharge/recharge (calibration) every month or so.
However I was away for 10 days recently and left MBP plugged in but shutdown. Before going I'd been keeping MBP extra busy and had skipped a calibration. On return I was using normally and then got a clue that all was not well with my battery although it said fully charged in menu bar.
I pulled the magsafe, instant off just like pulling lead on a desktop. No charge.
Magsafe LED showing green but no charge and not charging. Battery status said to replace battery.
Feeling upset at the suddendeath of a good friend I tried to reset SMC but the instructions seemed not to help.
Finally LUCK with an idea: I shutdown, unplugged, waited a bit, plugged while holding power button down and LED went orange, my battery started charging and went up to 96%.
I had been about to go pay for a new battery!
So good usage is important and we/I are not that well informed about best usage - I had been looking.
    Maybe not everywhere but....

  • What is the best waterproof case for the iphone5

I have been looking for a good waterproof case.  After reading many reviews.  It seems to me there are issues with every case.  From blurry screen, muffled sound, and leaking.  Please give some feedback.

The Lifeproof case always gets mixed reviews and many customers complain they are defective. Personally, I think the Ballistic Hydra Waterproof case is the way to go.

  • What's the best game controller for a MacBook Pro?

I have a mid-2012, non-Retina, 13" MacBook Pro with a 2.5 Ghz i5 and 8 GB of RAM. My current OS is 10.9.1. I've played Starcraft 2 for some time without any problems, but there are a few newer games on the Mac App Store that look like they'd be no fun with a keyboard and mouse. I'm hoping people here have recommendations for the best game pads or controllers that are compatible with Mac.
Please let me know if you have a controller that works really well for you, thanks!

I like the Logitech Gamepad F310 for games on my Mac. You're right new games are much better with a game controller!
