What's the best ram that's fairly inexpensive?

I currently am running 1 512mb ddr 2700 from newegg.com crucial. and the same which i got from crucial after picking sony vaio Rs series pc for the ram as that is what i used to have. however both ram stickers on them are the same, so i think it's the same ram. is this ram good/compatible good for the MSI-6728 mobo that i've got? I can return for a refund/exchange so does anyone have a suggestion for around the same cost? $150 for 1gb.

Can you recomend 1gb ram that's going to be good for $175 or so? Or in your opinion do you not think there is any? Isn't http://www.crucial.com good? Maybe recomend 768mb ram for around $175 if 1gb can not do that? I do want stability overall, not the cheap cheap stuff, but not the most expensive either. Can you gimme some name brands, what I could look into getting and where maybe? I'm sorry, I just haven't a clue about ram other then newegg.com and crucial.com. And if I choose the MSI 6728 board at http://www.crucial.com I get for a 512mb 2700, $75 or so per.

Im wondering that you want to upgrade to 8GB RAM... Normally 3 or 4GB should be more as enough for all applicaions at the moment.
Anyway, as Jayjay said its not possible to upgrade to 8GB. A friend of me has a Satellite A300 and the user manual says that it can upgrade to 4GB or 2GB (depending on the chipset). So if you have a PM965/GM965/RS690M chipset you can upgrade it to 4GB. Otherwise you can only use up to 2GB.
I have upgraded my Toshiba notebook with Kingston RAM. This is high quality RAM and has a good compatibility. I never had problems with such modules.

Rite now, i have been just clicking on the export to quicktime function, but the quality of the footage is completely reduced and colours look desaturated and there is pixellation compared to the original camera footage. Also is there anyway i can render and export the sequence using the original footage (like an online edit or something). Also is there anyway to upgrade the final quality. I have Compressor, Dvd Studio pro, Motion, Color and Cinema tools, i dnt know if they are of any use to me and have no idea how to use hem or what they are for also.

The best way to export is entirely dependent on what you plan to do with the exported video. For example, if you plan to go to DVD, the export process is different than if you plan for web delivery or for iPhone viewing. Compressor has presets for most final delivery formats ... start with those.

Yes. In FCP, go to File-Export->QuickTime Movie. Check the box to make the movie Self-Contained and use Current Settings. Do NOT "Recompress All Frames." The resulting self-contained movie will play on any Mac that has the needed audio and video codecs installed.

No and maybe. While you technically cannot improve quality over the original, you can possibly 'enhance' the aesthetic quality of the video using various filters in FCP or Color.

Were you hoping to use the ipad/iphone?? That maybe possible but I am not sure how.
You cannot use windows without opening SMB to some strange port and this is going to mess with security.. you also need a static ip address from your ISP.. most private net users do not have this.
You can do it via vpn.. you will need to buy a vpn router and bridge the TC to it.

Hi everyone. I know this board is a bit old now but I've set it up for my kids to play oldish games and it occurred to me that video cards from that era might be inexpensive these days. i'd say the 790GX chipset would run a saphire radeon HD5770 card fine i have 1 of them on a different maufactures board that uses the AMD 690GX chipset and i have put both my HD5770's in that with crossfire on and had no issues at all just to try it out!
and the AMD 690GX is a lower more old chipset then the one your board has so i wouldnt see any issues with the board not accepting the HD 5770 cards at all!
i like the saphire branded ones better as they run much cooler and quieter then a stock card!

After resizing a disc partition using disk utilities, I can no longer boot windows. HELP! what is the best thing that I can do to fix this

Bare with me as Im no computer genius but ... This afternoon I wanted to create more disc space on my Windows partition as I am using CAD software and wanted to free up as much space as possible. So, I went into disk utility and reduced the size of the Mac partition, then clicked apply.
When I came to reboot the computer to use windows the windows OS, the option to use windows was no longer there.
After looking at some online forums, I've found that most people suggest reformatting the hard drive and re-installing mac OS and also windows from back up data.
Is there no easier way for which I will not lose any data? Please help! I really need to use Windows ASAP!

The only apps I know of that can backup a Windows partition and or resize a windows parttition on a Mac so you don't have to go through the wipeing out, resizing and reinstall is WinClone for backing it up and WinTune (I think that is the name) for resizing a Windows partition on a Mac.
Once you create a Windows partition, install Windows in that partition, you can't fool around with any partition on your drive with either Windows Disk Management or OS X Disk Utility and expect Windows to boot.
The only thing you can try is to run Boot Camp Assistant.app again and remove the Windows partition and then run it again to create a larger partition and then reinstall Windows. Once you remove the windows partition put all the space back into the OS X partition and start fresh.

Satellite S2410-504: What is the best battery?

I am a complete noob to this but hope that someone can help me out. I have a Toshiba Satellite but I am not sure what model - it says on the back it is s2410-504. Anyways I have had it for about 3 years and I think the battery is kaput since it only stays on for about 15 minutes if unplugged from mains, even when fully charged.
The battery life has always been a bit short. What is the best battery that I can get for my laptop and how long will it last on most energy saving option?

Battery life is very much dependant on the type of applications that you run on the notebook. Generally speaking, applications which make use of the hard drive or the optical drive will use more battery power than those which are more CPU bound. This is purely because of the amount of power needed to drive the hard drive and optical drive.
In addition, the battery life can be extended to a degree by conditioning the battery as per the Toshiba recommendations, namely to allow the battery to fully discharge periodically and then fully recharging it. By contrast, never allowing the battery to discharge either by keeping the notebook permanently connected to the AC supply or by constantly topping it up when it is only partialy discharged will shorten the battery life.
In your case, if you only get 15 minutes use from your notebook when it is on a fully charged battery then I would definitely recommend a new battery, especially given that the old one is three years old.
As to battery performance, it is usually better to obtain a genuine Toshiba battery although other compatible brands can usually match the original in terms of performance. I would always be wary of batteries which are exceedingly cheap or from a dubious source.
